Baleia Guest Lodge

I stayed at Baleia de Hermanus for the first time in early December of 2024. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were neat and clean. The staff also organised an earlier-than-usual breakfast for me as I had to leave early for a golf tournament - this was much appreciated. I look forward to revisiting this quaint and inviting guesthouse in the near future.

I recently stayed at the guesthouse, and I wanted to share my experience for the betterment of the establishment. While the overall atmosphere was welcoming, there are areas that could use attention. Firstly, the guesthouse has a charming vintage vibe, but the room areas appear dated. Updating the decor and furnishings could enhance the overall aesthetic and comfort for guests. I noticed that the beds were quite firm, which might not suit everyone's preference. Considering the diverse needs of guests, providing mattress toppers could improve the sleeping experience. Additionally, the bathroom amenities need attention. The shampoo and shower gel dispensers had dirty, old appearances, and the hand-written labels might give an impression of neglect. Investing in new, clean dispensers and professionally printed labels can make a significant difference. I believe these suggestions can contribute to an even more enjoyable experience for future guests. Thank you for considering this feedback, and I hope to see positive changes in the future.

Fantastic central location , the owners are absolutely fantastic . The room was lovely, and the breakfast was delicious. Overall, I can't find any fault with this place. The cherry on the cake is that is that the price was very reasonable, especially considering I am here at peak Christmas season . I will definitely be coming back .

I stay here every two weeks, and Janke and Candy always make me feel welcome, and important as a customer. The rooms are spotless, and super comfortable - and cater for singles, couples and families. The internet is strong and stays on throughout loadshedding. Also situated right in the middle of Hermanus, not too far from the Town centre or the other side where the mall is. Perfect location. And the breakfast in the morning is the best, served with hot coffee. These lovely ladies have never put a foot wrong while I've stayed there (and I've done so more than 30 times at this point). I stay all over the Western Cape for work and I HIGHLY recommend Baleia Guest Lodge. They're popular though so you've got to book in advance.

I absolutely love this guest house. They have a mini bar with sodas and mineral water too for people who don't drink. The bathroom was so spacious. Room was clean. Staff were so friendly and breakfast is included in the price. Smoking area around the pool which was a plus as quite a few guest houses in Hermanus have no smoking. Secure parking inside the property. This was our second visit to Baleia and if in Hermanus again this would definitely be my first choice for accommodation

We stayed here for 2 nights and really liked the location, walking distance to restaurants, shops and whale viewing at the old Harbour. Even though it's on the main road, the driveway is on a side road and easy to get in and out of. Each room has a secure parking space allocated to it. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff very friendly. I do wish there was an air conditioner in the room though.
