Having travelled across South East Asia, I am a big fan of the handicrafts of this part of the world. I first visited Greenhills and I was fascinated by the various wood, shells and capiz handicrafts. But all the haggling and crowd was really tiring. So when one of my friends suggested about Balikbayan, I wasted no time to try this place out. The entrance is majestic and has a traditional Filipino touch. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home. The place has 3 levels with each level displaying the finest of Filipino handicrafts and food. The place has wide collections of bags, wallets and clutches made from wood, jute, and other organic raw materials. There is wide variety of home accents to choose from like photo frame, placemats, home decor lamps, wind chimes and so on. Each of these are made of naturally sourced raw material like wood, jute or shells. They have eye catching intricate designs and patterns to give that classy look to your house. The collection of home furnishing is also awesome. The chairs and coffee tables have such unique traditional designs and they are perfect examples of comfort and tradition. They also have good collection of pearls and coral jewelry. I can spend my entire day in this store. I love their gift wrapping where they again they use grass, color papers to pack things. They really look traditional. My personal choice for exploring Philippines through its handicrafts. Just a note, the staff will tell you that the place has sale and most of the items have a discount of 50%. Have realized after my multiple visits that its a sales gimmick :)
