Balıkçı Lokantası is a great spot for authentic seafood without the touristy feel. The grilled salmon really stood out !! it had a wonderful smoky aroma from the grill, and the flavor was just as good as the smell. The fish soup and calamari were also excellent. Prices were very reasonable for seafood, which was a pleasant surprise. This is clearly a place where locals like to hang out, giving it a genuine, relaxed atmosphere. On top of that, the people were incredibly kind and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for quality seafood and a true local experience.

Balıkçı Lokantası in Kadıköy is a fantastic spot for a delicious meal. It’s very conveniently located close to the Kadıköy metro station and the pier, making it easy to get to. The food is absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant is clearly popular with locals, which is always a great sign. The prices are reasonable and definitely worth it for the quality and taste of the food. Highly recommended if you’re in Kadıköy and want an authentic, satisfying meal!

We sought out this restaurant based on reviews on google map. And we weren't disappointed at all. The food were delicious. We ordered soup, fish stew and I think sea bream. We just ordered based on the photos since everything was in turkish. Not a problem though because it's very straightforward. We were given turkish dessert and tea for free. Thank you.

Very fresh fishes. Best I ever tasted. The seasoning is not too strong so can probably fit most people tastebuds. Again very fresh. Price is very affordable. This couple with fresh ingredients are enough for any good restaurant. I am an easy going person so the service is good enough for me. The staff is not very proficient in English but it s not a concern since you can always point at the menu. The restaurant wasnt fancy looking. Good old vibe. That s also what I like anyway.

delicious fish, tasty salads and all for a great price. we can really recommend the calamari and the fish soup is also lovely. every fish here tastes fresh and buttery. we visited several times and would always come back.

A Balıkçı Lokanta is located not far from Kadıköy Ferry Terminal. The food was absolutely delicious — we had shrimp and levrek (sea bass), and both were perfectly cooked and very juicy. Considering the quality of the food, the prices were very reasonable.

Fresh, fresh & fresh. Very hospitable, fresh bread, peppers salad and roast eggplant to start. Followed by freshly cooked sea fish and end with a cay and dessert on the house. Very local and good vibe. Come if you are visiting Kadikoy.

Best fish restaurant we have ever visited food wise, and we have visited a lot! Not only in Turkey, but in the whole world. The tava hamsi was so tender that it melted in the mouth. The sea bass was boned and was so delicious and fresh. We ate fish kavarma as well which was served in a clay dish, still sizzling, also very delicious, it was made with scorpion fish. The service was ultra fast. 39€ for 4 persons.

Super far from our hotel since it was on the Asia side of Istanbul. Took a 25 min cab ride during the daytime to get here and it was totally worth it!! It opened at 12pm and we got there at 1030am oops so we walked around and came back at 12. We came mostly due to mark weins recommendation on his YouTube channel. Service: super friendly and attentive! There was definitely a language barrier but it was still super nice and could tell by there body language that they mean well Food: -Black salmon in olive oil, butter, Herbs & spices -10/10!! This was what mark weins got and it was so good! Came out on a sizzling hot plate and it was full of flavor. Sooo delicious. This is what made the whole trip to the Asia side worth it -random selection of fish- was pretty good but we didn't know what we were choosing! Was a little fishy for me but hubby liked it ! -salad-mostly because we needed some veggies! Was simple and complimented the salmon well! The whole meal costed us $26! Comes with a cute little desert and Turkish tea at the end Highly recommend !

I was watching some of Mark Wien's vlogs in preparation for a family vacation to Istanbul and knew based on his reactions at the food here that I had to give it a try. My family is a bunch of seafood fanatics so I was really hoping it would live up to expectations, and it absolutely did. We loved it so much that we came straight back again the next day, even though it was quite far from where we were staying and a ferry ride was involved to get there! This is a small restaurant off a little side street in Kadikoy, quite serene and away from the hustle and bustle of the main street. The service was lovely, there's definitely a language barrier if you only speak English but nothing too bad. They'll take you inside to their refrigerated case of fresh fish and point out what's what, and how it can be prepared. Different types of fish can be braised, grilled, or fried. We tried a few different things: Fish Soup: nice and light with a predominant flavor of dill. goes great with some crusty bread. Fried mackerel: a little too fishy for me, but my parents were fans of this. Fried sardine: really yummy, a bit milder than the mackerel and really soft. With a squeeze of lemon and a shake of salt, it was delicious. Grilled fish - this was a whole fish, grilled to perfection (can't remember what kind it was exactly but it was nice and flaky) Braised black salmon with peppers and onions: so good, this is what I'd seen on Mark Wiens's blog and I was not disappointed, it comes out sizzling and the fish is incredibly soft and flavorful. Make sure to sop up all the butter with the bread! Fish Kofte, grilled: My personal FAVORITE - you must get this. Perfectly seasoned fish cakes that take on a beautiful char on the grill. Best bite of both nights for sure, we ordered it both days we were there! They bring out some bread and two dips (red pepper and eggplant) that go well with everything, along with a large simply dressed salad to add some veggies to the meal. They'll also bring out dessert and tea on the house at the end of the meal, very nice touch! It's incredibly affordable (about $7-$9 per dish) and incredibly delicious. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good seafood in Istanbul/Kadikoy.

How lucky was I to stay in the hotel across the street from this restaurant! I had one of my best meals in Istanbul here. It is currently Ramazan and I was fortunate to see how the locals do iftar. This restaurant has been written up internationally and deservedly so. I ordered a simple meal of grilled fish which was cooked to perfection, an impossibly fresh salad and an appetizer of bread with eggplant purée and esme, a type of spicy salsa. Dessert was Halva and sliced bananas with complementary çay. The price? 40 Try. @$7 USD I think I shall return before leaving Istanbul! Food is fabulous.
