We were heading back from our
4-week road trip and stopped at the Balladonia Motel for a well and truly earned break before heading home to Perth.
Balladonia motel caravan park was full of surprises! It had a very shady caravan park, fully powered - but unfortunately no water or dump facilities and the price tag was high, but you are in the middle of nowhere!
This iconic Skylab, which slammed to earth here in July 1979, is showcased in the Balladonia Hotel's dedicated
museum - Memorabilia from Australia's only spaceship crash site is now proudly exhibited. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
There's no camp kitchen so you can either grab a takeaway or dine in the Restaurant - we took takeaway as we had our beloved Ted with us. I had the chicken curry ($30), my husband had the parmigiana ($30) - I choose the better option!
As a keen golfer, I didn't know we were on the world's longest golf course, which stretches 1,365 kilometres from Ceduna
to Kalgoorlie. I would have loved to have had a play but unfortunately we were on a time schedule. All in all the facilities were clean, the food was average, the museum was a highlight and it was a well earned rest.
