Ballater Hostel

Great hostel. Rooms are warm, showers are hot and beds comfy. Secure storage for bikes.

This is a fantastic hostel, spotlessly clean. There is all you could want within and around the hostel. The rooms are good with up to 3 bunk beds that all have a bedside light and charging points. They all have an en-suite toilet and shower room.

Good hostel with very nice staff! The showers are warm, there's free tea, hot chocolate and instant coffee available and the beds are nice. And it doesn't feel too touristy there - simply put it's a really nice place and I enjoyed my stay there very much :)

Dominique is extremely friendly and a great source of local information.

Group of 6 of us on a mountain bike weekend. I have stayed in many hostels over the years and this one certainly stands out. The hostel was very clean with great shower, big kitchen, well equipped, had a store to keep our bikes. Dominique and Daniel couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. I left a pair of shoes behind and Dominique kindly posted them back to me. Would thoroughly recommend this hostel in the beautiful town of Ballater.

Comfortable and friendly hostel in town centre. |Well equipped common areas. Great bedrooms with en suite facilities and brilliant showers. |The location is ideal for so many areas - we were a group doing hills. The choice within east driving was excellent. |We will go back again and can highly recommend.

Probably the best hostel on my trip through Scotland. The owners are very nice and helpful and they can give you lots of recommendations about where to go and what to do especially for hiking. The hostel gets cleaning every day and you can see that. It's really clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lounge is very comfortable. Lots of places to sit even for groups. The beds were comfortable and have plugs and a reading light. Every room has an ensuite shower and toilet. A grocery, bakery and butcher as well as a couple of restaurants are less than a 5 minute walk away.

The hostel is full of cute little details and humour, and equipped in everything a tourist may need - information and devices. The kitchen and sitting room had more than we could have asked for. It was very clean on the whole and our room was quiet and comfortable with own bathroom. The owner was such a warm and helpful person full of positive energy! Highly recommended!
