The dancing was amazing! The whole performance took my breath away. What was a bigger surprise was the live musical talent. I'm taking off one star because in the darkened theater, many people around us were recording the show on their phones. The woman in front of me was actively and repeatedly opening her white home screen and emailing throughout the performance. Very distracting.

This is a must for people visiting CDMX. We attended the cultural show last month and were absolutely thrilled! We bought tickets directly from Palacio Belas Artes box office. The dancers and musicians were extremely talented and you could see that they worked and trained si hard for this. The Mariachis were fantastic and provided great music. It was truly lovely!

Not a ballet fan at all, and had no expectations going in. Then went to their show at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and was blown away. Incredible experience with visuals, music, and just experiencing traditional Mexican culture. The venue is also beautiful. Even if you don't think this is something you'll enjoy, I recommend just buying the tickets and attending, you won't regret it. Pro tip: Ticketmaster MX here has 2x1 tickets on Thursdays, and often this show comes up.

Enjoyed the modern twist that was added to traditional Mexican dances. The colorful costumes and live music added to the experience and made for an entertaining evening. This was my first time sitting in the highest level (row B) and I enjoyed this perspective quite a bit. We were able to see not just the individual dancers but also the entire dance production.

Good entertainment, but the acts lacked finesse. We paid about $15 USD per person to sit in the highest (third level), and the view was fine. I wouldn't recommend paying any more than that to see the show though. It's a fun nighttime activity with lots of colors and fun costumes.

Went to the Ballet Folklórico de México Christmas night. What a perfect way to celebrate this holiday. The location, atmosphere and ambience was amazing, under the stars and perfectly clear. The dancers were beautiful, the costumes were gorgeous and the meaningful performance leading is thru the history of Mexico and celebrating Christmas was really a beautiful treat. A beautiful unique experice and would highly recommend.

I want everyone to see this marvelous production, but there is some serious criticism. I’ll start with the great: 36 skilled dancers who obviously love their work, 12 talented live musicians, a gorgeous venue, and costumes galore. The show takes you through a range of cultures, musical styles and emotions. I can only compare it to Riverdance, which is a big compliment. Everyone coming to Mexico should see the show. What’s not right? The casting does not reflect the ethnicity of the Mexican people. The dancers are all white/European. This is most upsetting when indigenous dances are showcased. I’m sure there are Yaqui dancers who could best represent their heritage. There are some “big head” costumes that represent people in historically racist ways: a middle eastern man with a huge hooked nose; 2 black men whose skin is painted coal black. Please show these people as strong and beautiful, not cartoon characters . Lastly, the black harp was horribly out of tune….More than a semitone! It was embarrassing to all the musicians on stage. I saved about 15% buying tickets at the venue (vs online) but only one window was accepting US credit cards. It was the window on the left.

Yelp
Our second time, this is a must experience evening. I would schedule an entire visit to CDMX around the privilege of attending any performance at the magical Palacio de Los Bellas Artes. To see the Ballet Folklorico there is pure magic. This is the best of the best.

Yelp
**review is for the show held at Castillo de Chapultepec not the Palacio** This event is famous in Mexico for aiming to keep traditional folkloric dance alive. The show lasts about 90min in which they showcase traditional dance and costumes of different regions in Mexico (coastal, northern, etc) all set to a live band and a choir. Beautiful show! I attended the performance at Castillo de Chapultepec (new venue). It's beautiful and makes for a great stage for the show. BUT, big downside is the way they have set up the chairs in this new venue. Seats are not assigned and they are just rows of chairs which make it difficult for people sitting at the back to see anything at all without standing. Organizers should have built bleachers to make sure everyone in the back could see or something else. Even the people sitting on the sides have the speakers blasting on their faces the whole show so avoid the side seating area for sure. My recommendation to make this worth it is to arrive 1.5hrs before the show starts. Find a center seat and bring a blanket as it might get chilly in the night. There is no food or drinks so don't go hungry :). Do not seat on the sides chairs to avoid the speakers or bring earplugs. Enjoy!

Yelp
View the snapshots of the diverse cultures of Mexico in 1.5 hours! One of Mexico's most famous performances, Ballet Folklorico de Mexico is the classic dance performance that showcases various dances in Mexico from the past to the present and from the north to the south. From the indigenous to today's folk dances, you can definitely see the same skilled dancers dressed in many colorful costumes of various styles! Although the performance can be disorganized in manners such as misaligned lines or unclear chronology, Ballet Folklorico is certainly an exciting performance that you should not miss! One of the well-established dance performances in Mexico, the Ballet will perform many times in a week regularly, and the ticket is as low as 300 peso. If you are in Mexico City during one of their performance nights, I recommend experiencing the beautiful dance cultures of Mexico through Ballet Folklorico! --- PERFORMANCE TIMES & LOCATIONS Usual location: Palacio de Bellas Artes Usual times: Wednesday and Sunday 9:30 AM and 8 PM Usual prices: 300 / 700 / 1600 You can purchase either directly through the Bellas Artes box office (opens 1000-1900) on the day of or before the performance or online. Ballet Folklorico may occasionally move to the Chapultepec Castle. --- tl;dr version: 1) One of Mexico's classic performances 2) Cheap and many performances per week 3) Recommend if you are in town during a performance night!

Yelp
This was by far my favorite experience in Mexico City during my visit. The music, the colors, the performers! I was in complete awwe. If you are in Mexico City and this show is still going on, I highly recommend you visit. For the best seats in the front it was about $60 usd. and definitely worth it! You can also purchase your tickets directly at the box office.

Yelp
Beautiful show. It lasted about 2hrs. We paid $50 each to sit in the middle section/second floor. We went to the evening performance and walked there from our hotel Zocalo Central. No need to get there super early because the main doors didn't open until 5min. before the show and the bathrooms aren't available until the main doors open.

Yelp
An amazing performance a must see. 90 min show inside Bella's Arte we were just there January 23, 2019. However I would strongly recommend not getting galleria seats. You're way way on top the viewing is not that great, and there were performance below us going on which we missed because we were not able to see. Had we known we would have spent a little more for better seats and viewing.
