Baltazar absolutely nailed it—from the first bite to the last sip of wine, this place is the real deal. Tucked just a short stroll from the city center, it somehow feels both upscale and completely unpretentious, like an old friend who just happens to cook like a Michelin-starred chef. We sat in the garden terrace, which was a dream—quiet, leafy, and just far enough removed from the bustle of Zagreb to feel like a little escape. The food? Top-tier. Perfectly grilled steak, fresh seafood, and sides that didn’t feel like afterthoughts (the truffle mashed potatoes deserve their own review, honestly). Service was smooth and professional without ever feeling stiff. Our server knew the menu like the back of their hand and made excellent wine pairings—Croatian wines I’d never heard of, but now definitely won’t forget. Baltazar strikes that rare balance: elegant without being fussy, traditional without being boring. Whether you’re celebrating something or just treating yourself to a solid meal, this place delivers. I walked in curious and walked out planning my next visit.

I’ve came here twice during my stay in Zagreb. And in both times I was amazed by the quality of the dishes. Everything was super tasty and the service is excellent. We had an outdoor table for both times so we enjoyed the weather even more. Nothing negative to say, very lovely place.

Found this gem while exploring a bit outside the usual row of old city restaurants. The food was fantastic with some traditional Croatian specialties. Great wine list and the wait was exceptionally helpful in recommendations. The steak tartare was very good.

This restaurant is very expensive. We went there for the lunch time, the table was in the garden and the ambiance with a lot of mosquitoes. Unfortunately the table was not very clean. There were stains on the table cloth and a lot of human hairs. The waiter was not very friendly, he looked like he hated his job. The were small insects on the table as well. The food is nothing out of the ordinary and the menu is very limited.

Great food, great service! Had an amazing time at this restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-presented — you can tell they care about quality. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. Definitely a place I’d come back to. Highly recommend!

A friend was celebrating birthday here so we had a grilled lamb. I highly recommend it (and that comes from someone who doesn't actually like lamb 😅). I only think that if you want to eat grilled lamb, that you need to reserve and order in advance as it takes multiple hours to prepare it.

Place I've been coming back for years. They followed my, both private and business, events. What is really fascinating is how they manage to reinvent themselves after so many years of successful business. Today, I tried the new menu of great chef Matija Bregeš and it is great. Restaurant always has good fish, but I was in the meat phase today. Beef tartar is definitely to recommend. The flavours, the spices, all nicely mixed. Main was modern view in very traditional "Zagreb" steak. It is all but what you are used to, but for sure, something because of what you will come back. Happy for this restaurant to show such a bravery, and it pays off! Service and personnel were great as always! Also, tried great new wine, malvazija Bastian!!

Baltazar is one of the great old restaurant in Zagreb. It was my birthday and I wanted to check out what high-end yet traditional Zagreb dining is about and I found nothing disappointing. Good food, professional service, pleasant ambiance, decorated in traditional but elegant style. I had grilled fish with the option of choosing the type and size of fish I wanted. It was grilled to perfection. The fish was deboned to fillet right at my dinning table. How cool is that? I had risotto with a traditional potatoes and spinach side. It was Yummy! Dessert was excellent. I had an amazing Birthday dinner. Highly recommended! It is a walking distance from the Cathedral and the central square ❤️❤️❤️
