"Following in the tradition of its Station North neighbor Red Emma's, Baltimore Bicycle Works is a worker owned and operated bike shop. However, this bike shop doesn't serve vegan and vegetarian dishes, but instead hosts bicycle maintenance workshops and yoga classes. Baltimore Bicycle Works offers a full range of bicycle supplies and services, serving both the novice cyclists and the more experienced rider." - Leo Brady

Google
Friendly and helpful staff. I made an impromptu stop, while on my bike ride to gym and didn't even realize I past it. I needed a phone mount/holder for my bike so I can go exploring without getting lost. The staff directed me to the correct product and installed it for me. I asked his name but had my music playing so it slips my mind. He is pictured below. I'd recommend, it's local and directly before the Jones Falls trail.

Google
An awesome place to replace my flattened e-bike tires due to the poor condition of Baltimore roads. The people there are super friendly and professional. Such a lovely shop with a sweet cat! I miss you, Falkor!

Google
I came in on a whim and they had my bike on the stand, diagnosed the problem on my bike right away and fixed it in about 30 minutes. Overall, an interesting shop, not a lot of space, but the mechanics manage it well. Also, the new and used bikes seem to be marked at reasonable prices, but I would do some cross referencing before have.

Google
it's me, i'm the problem i had a really positive experience with BBW, I am a new bicycle commuter with a new e-bike that I had to assemble. I got it together but it needed a once over. so I took it to BBW. They worked on it quickly and as expected, but as I rode it home I felt that it wasn't shifting well. I followed up with BBW who told me to bring it right back. Upon return, the mechanic put it immediately on the stand and assessed it. He then explained that I might have been shifting incorrectly. But he didn;t make me feel like an idiot, and even took the bike for a test ride to confirm. When he returned, he further educated me on some details and sent me on my way, With my newfound knowledge, the bike was great on the ride home. I chose BBW becaue it's a co-op, has a shop kitty, and is close to home, I'll keep going back because the mechanics are kind and genuinely seem to care about their customers.

Google
Great shop knowledgeable employees, they helped me get a rack ordered and installed on a speed bike, normally a pain but they made it painless.

Google
they have a cat named Falkor. look at this wonderful boney buddy. he made sure we were well taken care of! the humans helping me were amazing too. the bike i am riding needs a special key to adjust the seat! and the lovely staff are doing their cool bike research to go find it for me.

Google
Highly knowledgeable, efficient and courteous staff. They installed a new set of bike tires I had previously purchased elsewhere and when I asked about clipless pedals they showed me shoes and pedal options while providing great advice. When I got home I researched what I had purchased and could not be happier! The shoes and pedals are top rated and were competitively priced. Oh and all done in half an hour. New happy customer.

Google
These people are just the best. They think everyone should be getting around on bicycles and they just want to keep you biking, whatever you ride. Or if you need a new ride, they'll help you with that too. Great mechanics who clearly enjoy their work, not a pretentious bone in the place. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Jonathan provided exemplary customer service while we were looking for a bike for our 5 year-old!

Yelp
Baltimore is largely a flat city (especially relative to San Francisco), and so I very much wanted to ride a bike around and see the safer parts of the city. It was not easy to find a bike shop, but I am glad I found Baltimore Bicycle Works. The bikes were top notch, easy to operate, and well-maintained. I brought my own helmet and lock to save some money, but they rent them as well. We rented for a "loose" 24 hours. That was much appreciated so we didn't have to worry about the exact timing of return. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you plan to eat a lot while in Baltimore, like I did, you can offset those calories with biking, and have a great time doing it. The only drawbacks were locating the shop, finding bike lane streets, and the need to carefully consider where you are riding and where to safely lock up your bike. That may sound like a lot- but IMHO, there is crime everywhere. We can limit our experiences because we live in fear, or we can venture forth with reasonable caution. We locked up the bikes for hours while visiting both the aquarium and the museum of art without issue. So seize the day.

Yelp
Aaaaaahhhhh. You that heavenly soprano sound one hears when the clouds open up in the sky? That's what it felt like as soon as I started riding my trusty steed up the hill after leaving the shop. AND, before I got out of the shop, I noticed the buttery smooth action on my headset, as well as the extra, EXTRA nice polishing of my chrome. Say whaaaaa?!! Um, yeah. Not expected. BONUS. If you opt for a hard copy of the work order nifty YOU NEED TO KNOW MORE THAN THIS... tips. Kudos to Bagel baker Zack who took on the challenge of tuning and dialing in my sherpa Dutch Oma Fiets Batavus! I. WILL. BE. BACK.

Yelp
My normal experiences with BBW have always been good until I took my Cannondale Treadwell Neo to them . They have my bike from August 2022 until May 2023 and did little to nothing to fix it. I told them what the app told me that it was a wheel sensor they said it was the firmware then the battery and i would have to spend a lot of money to fix it. I picked up my bike the same way I dropped it off the previous year did some research found the wheel sensor online and installed it myself and now the bike works just as new why couldn't they have done the same they are the pros ?

Bill N.

Yelp
I didn't bother to test the bike before I left with it got home found out there was a number of issues with a brand new bike that cost almost $4000 took the bike back they told me they couldn't see what I was seeing when I was showing them exactly what was wrong with it Left the bike there then they called me and said they found the problem I was talking about but didn't know how to fix it so they were going to make my bike a fight Frankenstein in order to fix it and make me take a bike they cost this much money With all this work done to it all I wanted was a new bike or my money back and they refused. Finally I stop payment on the credit card I got my money back they keep changing their story how they're going to service you with problems no thank you there a better place to shop.

Yelp
What a cool bike shop! Someone stole my bike seat and the pole from my apartment bike rack section. I purchased my seat from Amazon but for whatever reason thought it came with the pole. The minute I realized it didn't I yelped "bike shops near me" and Baltimore Bicycle Works. It was within a 5 minute drive from house. The minute I walked in someone came over to help. I told them exactly what I needed, followed him to that area, then to the cash register and paid. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Before paying, the associate made sure to measure the seat to ensure it would fit. The total cost was 9.95, cheaper than Amazon. I highly recommend and would return anytime.

Yelp
Bought a Smith and Wesson (used Police bike) because I thought it would be cool to have a bike that not many people can say they own. I talked to the shop about having it dismantled so I could have the frame painted and then they would reassemble the bike (I am getting it painted so it doesn't look like a Police bike). We agreed that I should bring it in. I get a phone call 5 minutes later telling me that they wouldn't work on my bike. I asked if it's because S and W bikes are hard to work on or was it a political thing and was told point blank that it was political. You can have your beliefs but I will never give my business to a company with such distain for the Police.

Yelp
I met the crew not too long ago, and their customer service are amazing. They are knowledgeable, warm, and caring. I highly recommend!

Lauren D.

Yelp
Great bike shop. Always super knowledgable, honest, friendly, quick with repairs, and courteous in explaining the issue at hand. They never try to up-sell or patronize, just extremely helpful and always put the customer first. A great local business to support!

Todd C.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. You truly feel like you're getting honest advice and pricing. I stopped by on my ride home to see if they could help with a stripped screw. They quickly got it out, put a replacement in and wouldn't let me pay for anything. Definitely go here for all your biking needs!

Allison M.

Yelp
Great place for bike rentals, right on the Jones Falls Trail! Super nice folks working here, with really quality bikes and knowledgeable staff. There's a sweet and friendly cat too! If we lived in Baltimore we'd definitely buy our bike gear here. Since we don't, we have to settle for our bike rental experience here being the highlight of our whole trip to Baltimore.

Joe E.

Yelp
Although the selection is smaller the attention to detail is much appreciated. A good shop staffed with friendly folks who will do their best to seat you well and have you happy and confident with your purchase.

Patricia O.

Yelp
Someone tried to steal my tire at Penn Station... fortunately they were not successful! So I went to yelp to find the closes bike shop and these guys were it! They fixed my bike in 30min and cost me 14 bucks! Amazing service, candid feedback.... the girl that fixed my bike TOTAL BADASS! I will sure be back again if I have any issues or need advice.

Sophia K.

Yelp
I was in need of a replacement chain and they were able to take care of it super quickly! It took less time than they said it would and the pricing was totally reasonable. They're also being safe concerning COVID-19-- no going in the store, just call to drop off your bike, then they come outside to get it from you.

Dawn M.

Yelp
I had been having multiple issues with my bike for months and had taken her to a few of the bike shops for repair and none of them could get to the heart of the matter. It was so frustrating... until I tried BBW. The guys at BBW were the first ones to really listen to everything I needed and took the time to make sure everything was done RIGHT. The bike mechanics are phenomenal and when I went to go pick up my bike, he made sure he was there to walk me through exactly what he did and answered all my questions. A few weeks later I got (though didn't respond, sorry!) a follow up phonecall just making sure everything was still ok. Amazing service and the price was very reasonable, I won't go anywhere else now!

AP D.

Yelp
These guys were very helpful and provided great service. The repair service was prompt, professional, and a good price.

Adam T. R.

Yelp
Best bike shop in Baltimore by far. Excellent service, no attitude, reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I Went to find a set of cleats today. A guy was helpful in identifying it for me, but told me they didn't have it in stock and would need to order it. I then expressed that I would look at other places. At that moment a blonde lady came up and told me there would be five dollar service charge, for identifying the product I need. I stared at her for a good moment waiting for her to tell me she was joking, but she wasn't. I capitulated because I was in a hurry to get the cleats, but this by no means makes for a pleasant experience. Never had anyone else attempted to charge me for answering a simple question. I will be going in again to pick up my cleats, and if no explanation was made regarding that it would be the last time I ever go there. I intended to give five stars for the guy who had been helpful, but the attempt to charge me for nothing made me decide otherwise.

Yelp
It's almost impossible for me to say enough good things about Baltimore Bicycle Works. I genuinely appreciate this establishment more with each visit. The staff is extremely knowledgable, friendly, humble, and most importantly, honest. There has not been a question that any staff member could not answer for me. Everyone is patient and truly seem to appreciate talking about bikes and sharing their expertise. Service is exceptional. Most repairs or upgrades are completed within the same day, if not within a few minutes of being there. I have never had an issue with service nor needed to return for follow-up service that wasn't caused by my own doing. Any questions I have pre or post-service are answered politely, professionally and without hesitation. Part pricing is affordable. Service/labor pricing is even more affordable. If there's something they do not have in stock or that you may be looking for specifically, no problem, they can most likely order it for you. If you have a bike that is in need of a checkup, a repair or upgrade, or are simply in need of a bike, I implore you to go to Baltimore Bicycle Works. It will be well worth your time.

Yelp
Best new bike shop in Baltimore! Great location. Really friendly staff. When I needed some special parts ordered they were quick to help me choose the right stuff and called me as soon as it came in. They now stock high end road equipment. Lazers, etc.

Carrie W.

Yelp
After flirting a bit with running, I've come to the conclusion that I don't "have what it takes" to sustain that over the long-term (basically, no stamina and age is not on my side), so I've been thinking about getting a bicycle. I have to keep fit somehow, right? So my husband and I walked here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to check the place out and see what they had. I really hadn't planned on buying anything.... Well, after seeing the selection here and speaking with the friendly, accommodating staff, that plan went horribly awry, as I pretty much fell in love with a gleaming Jamis commuter bike after a "test drive" up and down the Jones Falls Trail. I was dubious that they could find anything for me since I've been known to need equipment in the kid's section before, but the Jamis came with a 14-inch frame, which was pretty much what I needed. Even better, they do have an installment plan where you can put 10 percent down and "hold" your bike for up to 3 months ("layaway" is such a crude term, but that's more or less what it is); this is convenient for me since I have holiday expenses coming up! My husband also fell prey to their wiles, as he purchased a huge 19-inch Jamis Coda Sport. The only bad thing is that we won't be able to get our bikes until December! We're both eager to get started now, but that's okay - it'll be a nice present for both of us. Lots of accessories here, too, for almost every situation. They have folding Brompton bikes, too, which are GORGEOUS - if I had the G and some they wanted for those, I'd have ordered it in a heartbeat. But my new Jamis will do for now. I'm no cyclist and have no idea of the differences - but the staff here was very patient and answered all of our questions with a smile. Best part of the experience? Mr. Falkor, otherwise known as The Lord of All That He Surveys. The sweetest, softest and furriest shop kitty ever. :)

Les A.

Yelp
Great staff does a good job of following up when work is completed or an order is received. They are also not out to take your lunch if you know what I mean lol

Ted T.

Yelp
I had been a satisfied Baltimore Bicycle Works customer for several years but after my last tune-up, I'm either switching or I'm going to start servicing my bikes myself. I brought my bike in for a tune-up and was told that I needed a new chain and possibly a new cassette. This seemed a little strange to me since I had just had them both replaced a year ago. My previous chain and cassette had lasted many years. Moreover, I have been a biker for more than 40 years and have never been told I needed a new chain after just a year. I said, "no", I don't want to replace them and the person doing intake then went on a tirade explaining how he changes his chain every 8 months and how it would damage my bike and was dangerous. He went on to ostentatiously demonstrate with his tool that I needed a new chain, saying "tools don't lie." Based on this experience and on two inner tubes that abraded at the valve within the past year, I conclude that it may well be that I needed a new chain but that it is also because Baltimore Bicycle Works uses substandard parts that are prone to get worn out. All of this has left a sour taste in my mouth and even though their shop is very convenient for me, I will not be going back.

Yelp
Came in here on a Saturday to rent a bike after having not biked in a while. They have different models available for 24 hr rental at $25. Helmet or lock is another $5. There were only road bikes available that day so I took one for a spin around the block before deciding to rent it. The entire process took maybe 10 min and the people working there are nice, especially for someone like me who is the opposite of a bike connoisseur. Had no issues with the bike and a great time on the rock creek trail. Will probably be back if I plan to go biking again.

Marc T.

Yelp
The staff are friendly, knowledgable, and passionate about bikes. I purchased a bike that took several weeks for delivery. When the bike came in, I couldn't make it to the store until slightly later than they closed. The staff kindly waited for me to pick up the bike. Even if you don't live in the city or commute by bike, this bike shop is worth a visit. I highly recommend this store for their expertise and interest in serving the Baltimore bike community.

J H.

Yelp
I've always found this shop and the staff here to be top notch, and it's a crime I didn't write this review before now... I've never purchased a full bike here, but I had BBW finish a bike build for me that I started (and couldn't finish), AND fix a very expensive touring bike that I screwed up the headset install on. I've brought my bikes in at least three times when I just can't get it right.. (If I owned a bike shop, I'd probably cringe at a customer like me. I'm an admitted amateur bike mechanic poseur... I put brakes on backwards, headsets upside down and use the wrong cable/housing, but I *try*) The tune-up BBW performed for me on my first road bike was pitch perfect and kept me on that bike for two summers (and hundreds of miles) without much more than infrequent chain lubing and tire pumping on my part. They do an excellent job explaining exactly what the work is that they need to do while providing a completely accurate (and fair) estimate for their services. I've also been impressed by the fact that they've done their work quickly to get me back on the road, while keeping the lines of communication open throughout the process. Did I also mention they sell Bromptons? Highly recommended. A+

Eric K.

Yelp
Pros- Good Prices For Services Reasonable Prices for Parts/Accessories Service Program for Bike Buyers Carry some of the more "non-standard brands" like Brompton Cons- Dont carry some of the mainstream brands like Trek This is one of my favorite bike shops to visit. With bike shops you tend to get either friendly yet uninformed employees or really knowledgeable yet snobby bike techs, who scoff if you don't know the difference between platform vs clipless... Luckily BBW has both friendly and very knowledgeable bike techs. I just get a vibe that they are really glad to be there and want to help and educate you to be a better bike rider/owner.

Michael C.

Yelp
Baltimore Bicycle Works is a great bike shop, lots of selection. Tucked away in a more gritty and obscure area near Charles Village. I haven't had anything specifically serviced by them, as I do my own bike maintenance, but I have used them for parts. When I've been, I've had friendly low-pressure service; if I had to buy a bike, I'd seriously consider shopping here. Baltimore needs more bike love, and BBW is helping to build that culture.

Ben W.

Yelp
Great service. Had a small issue with my bike which they fixed cheaply and took the time to explain what I should do to prevent it next time. No pressure sales techniques after I asked a few questions. I will definitely be back.

Orange J.

Yelp
Helpful, insightful, diverse, experienced. Local-Bike-Shop stereotypes drip with condescension. Bicycle mechanics can be miserable people, but Baltimore Bicycle Works feel like friends. I have called several times...with many questions (never exposing my identity). They dont rush me...They just provide options, solutions and awesome bikes. Casey is sweet :)

Dan R.

Yelp
staff were nice, however the management/ethos is not. do NOT go here if you are renting a bike in Baltimore. They charged me for : Lights, helmets, and even a lock. They make it pretty clear that profit is more of a concern then customer safety. I understand that a small business needs to make their money, but this place charges a relatively high day rate, and then tops on several "add ons" that are normally inclusive for most bike rentals.

Tony M.

Yelp
And in conclusion.... Let me first say that I love the thought of any place that is "employee owned." Because of this fact I really wanted to give them a try. A friend wanted to get his "spring cleaning and tune-up" done to his Cannondale. His local shop always did the work but I talked him into letting me take his bike to BBW. I took his bike and asked them to do the spring tune-up. The price was exactly the same as my friends local shop. It took a few days for the tune-up and picked the bike up. The first thing I noticed was that the bike had not been wiped down. It still had the few remnants of last years dirt on it and the dust of a winter. I know that technically wiping the bike down is not part of a tune-up, but come on, when you are getting ~$90 for 20 minutes worth of work, you can take 30 seconds with a rag to make the bike look a little better than when it came in. My friend didn't really care about that, but we got back and went for a ride and the derailers were in worst shape than when it went in. This is seriously a 2 minute adjustment for any bike mechanic. In this case I called and told them my concerns, and they somewhat reluctantly agreed to make the adjustments. I felt like a complete idiot for recommending them. *Note to self: Always try businesses first before recommending them. Ok fast forward a couple years. I decide to give them another try. Of course this time with my own bike. I bought a reconditioned Schwinn road bike for $100 from a used bike shop. I called to see if they had 27" "Hybrid" tires. I was told they had a bunch of different ones. I went in to BBW, told the guy I bought it for $100, that it ran GREAT but I needed new tires. I also mentioned that it had been reconditioned and that everything worked well for what I need it for. Riding once or twice a week as I'm not one of those "I'm so cool because I have a bike" types. I told him I wanted hybrid tires that were a little thicker than the tires on it (1/8th in) because even though it is a road bike, I ride on a lot of dirt trails. Again, it's a $100 bike. So he looks for a second and is like "oh well we have these Gatorskins." I'm not sure if you know what a Gatorskin is, but it is everything but a hybrid tire. It's basically like a slick. He and another guy told me they would rock and that they would be way better than the tires I had. So I agree to get the Gatorskins. He said he would put them on for like $5 each (good price) so off he goes. 10-15 mins later it was ready to go, and then he starts giving me a pitch about having the tune-up done to the bike. I guess in the time it took to put the tires on he forgot that I told him it had JUST BEEN rebuilt and how well it ran. Lesson here....listen to people. So I paid and on the way out I asked him how many PSI the tires took and he told me 125. Then he was like "yea you can check here on the.... oh, these are 100PSI". So instead of getting a pressure gauge, he just let some air out of both of the tires. *One great thing about this place, the guy here can tell how much air they are leaving out of the tires just by listening to it. I ride home and it feels like I am riding on stone wheels. I get home and they had 110PSI and 115 PSI. *On second thought maybe not. Then I noticed that both of the stems were at a 70-80 degree angle. So I had to actually take both wheels off, let the air out of the tires, and adjust the stems at 90 degree angles and put them back to 100PSI. I know that I could have just ordered the actual tires I wanted, but they were pretty adamant that I would love these tires. I like them, but there is a big difference between 100PSI tires and 70PSI tires. What I needed was 70PSI hybrid tires. Bad cross sell..... I still like the idea that this place is operator owned. Yelp is here for people to voice their opinions and their experiences, which is what I did. They have a decent selection of parts and new bikes at pretty good prices. I just happened to get what I consider crappy service twice. P.S. Steve B. has to be a shill. "they have a good selection of used and new bikes and will help you out getting that right bike." That sounds ridiculously fake.

Janssen K.

Yelp
We recently moved to Baltimore, and my bike needed some TLC... nothing I couldn't do myself, just needed some parts and the use of a some basic tools. This place is nearest to my house, and I like worker-owned businesses, so there I went. The staff on the floor was helpful and friendly, though I distinctly got the whiff of dick from the some of the senior guys. Regardless, I got my situation fixed up and they lent me some tools to go outside and fix my tubes and install the seat I bought from them. I went back a few times for odds and ends, and was pretty much satisfied. Had some wheels trued, they did a good job. I went in today to buy two good tires and tubes, which would cost nearly a hundred bucks. I indicated I needed to borrow some tools, and the dude informed me they have had some problems with lending their tools out so they stopped doing it. I told him I didn't have tools at my home and I've appreciated their kindness in the past, that I was a regular customer and couldn't really continue shopping there if I couldn't get a few twists out of a wrench. He said they could sell me tire levers and let me use their pump, but no wrench. Which makes it hard to change some tires... He then told me that since they do repairs onsite, it is 'shitty' for people to ask to borrow tools. I told him that was a 'shitty' attitude to have, and it's shitty to call a customer 'shitty' to his face because he asks for the same level of service he as come to expect from the shop. So I didn't buy anything and I won't be going back there, unless it's an emergency. Really it's a perfectly good bike shop, but it's significant that they have decided not to lend tools. I think it's an important part of encouraging bike culture for shops to help people work on their own bikes. Rather than do their part to help Baltimore's bike culture develop, they would rather play greedy for more repair dollars. If that's not enough to turn me off, being called 'shitty' is more than enough get me to walk away and leave a 1-star review on Yelp.

Yelp
Stopped in while visiting Baltimore and doing some exploring by bike. Probably would've rode right past it had it not been for a few young local kids doing wheelies out front. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and even hooked me up with some swag. Hard to believe there'll be a better shop than this after seeing how they treated everyone while there. Will definitely stop by on my next visit.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Great customer service. Everyone that I spoke to in the shop was very helpful and pleasant. The shop ended up having to order the model that I was looking at from the dealer. The bike was shipped and then assembled at the shop within a couple of days of it being ordered. Great overall experience.

Herb M.

Yelp
These guys are pros. We stopped in to look at Yuba Bikes and Casey went out of his way to get us set up with a test ride. When he didn't have what we were looking for in stock, he took us to the computer, helped us research it, and explained what we wanted and didn't want. We didn't buy anything today but Casey is our man and you can count on these guys to provide a first rate experience. 5 stars!

Bugsy B.

Yelp
Staff was very helpful. As soon as I walked in I was asked if I needed help. Very convenient since it was my first time there. I needed help trying to find a bike accessory and the gentleman was informative of explaining the different brands and products to me. I was grateful for this especially since I had just come from another bike shop that showed no type of interest in offering me any help. So I came back about 2 weeks later and bought what I needed. Again staff was very helpful and attended to me as soon as she was done with the customer in front. You also get a discount if you work for a union.

Laser K.

Yelp
Great little shop and excellent service! Even though it has been several months since I had my tune up done there, they took a look at my bike again for me free of charge when I was having trouble with the gear shifter. 15 minutes later I was happily on my way back home!

Garrett H.

Yelp
I've had a couple very positive experiences with this shop so far. I haven't made any major purchases here (yet) but the staff has been extremely helpful answering my questions and finding parts for me. If they don't have what I'm looking for, they always offer to order it. One particular instance involved me getting a flat tire not far from the shop, so they took down the bike they were working on and put a new tube in for me and I was back on the road in under five minutes. I can't say enough good things about Baltimore Bicycle Works. They're for real.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Nicest. Bike. Shop. Ever. For the most part bike shops scare me as the employees tend to be pretentious and unhelpful unless you demonstrate that you know exactly what you want. I walked into BBW with the glazed look in my eye of someone who has absolutely no idea what they're doing and was immediately approached by someone asking if I needed help. I was still getting my bearings so I told them I just wanted to look around. They politely left me alone but within 10 minutes another employee checked in on me. There was no pressure whatsoever, they just wanted to make sure I knew they were available if I had any questions. This time around I just needed a new bike tube and they didn't make fun of me when I realized I didn't know what size I needed. They just asked questions until we figured out what was most likely to fit my bike (turned out we were wrong because I told you I don't know anything about bikes! But they exchanged it no hassle a few days later). This will definitely be my go-to bike shop from now on.

Yelp
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. They sell new and used bikes and are happy to order parts for you. They are still stocking their shelves but they have the important basics in the store. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Bike shops aren't different than auto shops in that there are plenty of them around, but it's always difficult to find a good one. I'd say as far as BBW goes, they have a very friendly, knowledgeable staff of sales people who will fit you with a bike suitable to your daily needs. I had some service done there -- specifically some shifters replaced and fenders installed. I dropped the bike off, and they said it'd be ready in seven days. I was a little bummed about this because I use the bike to get to work, but I understood because it's a busy time of the year for bike sales/repairs. However, they said they had parts in stock and that it'd be no problem. A week rolled by, and I didn't hear from them. I called on Day 7, and the staff member who answered the phone said they needed parts to finish the job. "I thought you had the parts?" I asked. "We did too, but it ended up we didn't. We ordered them," she said. I wondered later why they couldn't have checked this the day after they got my bike to make sure they ordered the parts for it to be ready in a week... Oh well. The next day, I got a call from the mechanic saying that he was missing parts from my fender hardware set. I am pretty positive that all the hardware got there, but he seemed skeptical and said he'd make do with what I'd given him (which was everything he needed. Maybe parts got lost around the shop). When I got the bike back and paid for it ($219-- $1 under estimate, which was a good price, I thought), I noticed he cobbled together some washers and such to install the fenders. They look OK, but they do rub on my tires. It was definitely a hasty job that could've been done better for the same amount of money. The shifters, however, work fine. I also noticed later that he removed and tossed two hooks I was using to hold panniers on my bike. This will complicate my life a little bit. I'd give this 2.5 stars if it was an available rating. For parts and stuff like that, I'd probably shop here. For repairs, I'll take it elsewhere.

Yelp
I had an excellent experience at Baltimore Bicycle Works. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and without attitude (unlike much of the competition). Really great customer service.

Yelp
Terrific experience with this bike shop today! Got a quick simple repair for an extremely reasonable price in less than 10 minutes. There is also a sweet selection of bikes with decent prices if you're looking to start your life as a two-wheeled adventure (you should) :). And lastly, they have a cat named "Falkor". It doesn't get any more "Charm" City than this. Keep up the great community-oriented work BBW!

Yelp
Staff were very pleasant even though the place was really crowded. I had just recently purchased a mountain bike on craigslist and was interested in changing the tires to more hybrid like tires that had less resistance when riding. I talked to the guy and he told me that the tires I had on there were in great shape and that I should probably wait until they wore out until I replaced them. I really appreciated the honesty and even though he could have easily told me I needed new tires and gotten a sale out of me, he was just honest instead. Man - that is just a breath of fresh air! I will definitely go back when the tires do wear out and get some thinner tires.

Yelp
My bike tire wouldn't hold air. I was scared and didn't know what to do. Reluctant to get it fixed because money. Sick of walking to and from work. I wandered into BBW and $13 and 10 minutes later my bike worked. Also gave some preventative maintenance tips.

Yelp
When my bike was stolen I went here for a replacement. The staff seems pretty knowlegable and into biking. The location suits me as do the prices. I think if you need to service your bike this place is worth checking out.
