Our stay at Bamboo Cottages was nothing short of magical. It is a peaceful, secluded haven run by a warm and welcoming family offering an authentic and laid-back experience. A big contrast with the mass-tourism resorts on other parts of the island.||Our room was right on the beach, facing the ocean, with stunning views and the soothing sound of waves as our personal soundtrack. The garden is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and vibrant bougainvillea flowers everywhere, adding to the charm of the place.||The food was fresh, flavorful, and diverse, with an excellent selection of Vietnamese dishes. Dining right on the beach made every meal even more special.||The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, always attentive and ready to help with anything we need.||Before coming, we checked the reviews, and here’s our take on some of the negative points mentioned by other guests:||• Dirt Road & Accessibility – Yes, there’s about 1km of dirt road leading to the property, but it’s really not a big deal. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat off the beaten path, this is part of the charm. We had no issues getting taxis to pick us up or drop us off.||• Insects – As expected in a beachfront location, there are some mosquitoes and insects. But our room had a mosquito net, and using repellent spray was enough to keep them away. The staff also burns repellent in the restaurant area to minimize them.||• Hot Water – We had plenty of hot water, but honestly, most of the time, we didn’t even use it because the weather was so warm. A refreshing cool shower after a beach day was perfect!||• Facilities – Some of the equipment, like bathtubs, is a bit older, but it’s understandable since Bamboo Cottages was closed for three years due to COVID. They are gradually updating things, and despite this, the rooms are clean, well-maintained, and full of charm.||• Boat Activity in the Bay – We noticed some boats dragging sand a couple of mornings during our stay. It made a bit of noise but wasn’t a major disturbance. This is beyond Bamboo Cottages’ control, and it shouldn’t be a reason to take points away from them.||We originally planned to stay just a few days, but we ended up extending our stay—because leaving this little paradise was simply too hard.||If you’re looking for a relaxing, off-the-beaten-path experience in Phu Quoc, this is the perfect place.
