Our stay with Nok and Nah was nothing short of heavenly. Their bamboo nest is a true slice of paradise: beautifully crafted, surrounded by a lush garden, and set in the most peaceful environment. The bungalow itself was cozy and comfortable with a great bed with a mosquito net, a hot shower, and two hammocks for relaxing. Nok and Nah themselves are the kindest, most generous hosts you could hope for. We learned so much from them about Thai cooking, organic farming, and the rich northern Thai culture they embody with such pride. Every meal was incredibly delicious, healthy, and made with fresh ingredients straight from their land.
One of the highlights of our trip was an awesome full-day adventure: trekking to a waterfall, learning about local tea and crops, cooking a traditional Lahu-style lunch over an open fire, and ending the day with a relaxing foot soak in a natural hot spring. It was magical from start to finish and a great value for the price.
On our second day, we explored the local Sunday market and took a music class with the wonderful Bell, who teaches two traditional Thai instruments, the Sueng (like a small guitar) and the Saw U (bowed fiddle). Playing music with everyone there was so fun and special, and surprisingly easy to pick up and play. Highly recommend a class with Bell when you visit!
I can’t recommend this experience enough. If you want to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the magic of northern Thailand with the sweetest people, this is the place to be!
