"The Bamboo Train of Battambang One of the top attractions just outside of sleepy Battambang is the bamboo norry train. These simple platforms outfitted with small motors were originally used to ferry people and goods between the distant villages. Today, the system is largely a tourist attraction, and a recommended one. Riding from one village to another will take about an hour. The trainsoperateon just one set of tracks, and when two trains meet going opposite directions, the drivers hop off, move one of the platforms and its wheels to the side of the track, so that the other may pass."

I read some reviews which were not so much positive from a person to another. I guess it's like anything, depending on the timing and the people that you are going with, it can turn from a negative experience to an unforgettable one. Or maybe I just spent time so much with khmer that I am just happy with smallest little thing that appears above and in front of my eyes. With time I don't know what to say so I guess I'll stop talking and leave the picture speak for the experience in itself.

The bamboo train in Battambang is a unique and thrilling experience! Riding on a bamboo platform powered by a small engine, you zip through the countryside at surprising speeds. The open-air ride offers stunning views and a refreshing breeze. It’s a fun, quirky adventure that showcases local ingenuity. Just hold on tight and enjoy the ride! Perfect for those seeking something off the beaten path.

A must when visiting Battambong because you can't buy this experience anywhere else. The locals refer to the "bamboo train" as norry. Tourists often assumed that the norry was created after the Khmer Rouge civil war, but if you ask any Khmer elderly who is in their 80's and grew up in Battambong province, they will tell you that the norry has been around since before the war. The cost currently is $5/person. We're a group of 3 people, so we had the train to ourselves. The ride lasted about 1 hour, round trip. It's exhilarating. It's fun. It's an experience you will not find anywhere in Cambodia. With a single train track, chances are you'll encounter another bamboo train or even a real train! The rules used to be the bamboo train with the least amount of cargos will disembark, but it appears to have changed to the returning train will disembark. Midway thru the trip, they'll drop you off at some souvenir shops where you can buy tacky elephant pants or scarves or refreshments. You don't have to buy anything. You can walk around the farms for 15 minutes and get back on the train for your return trip. They will ask you to tip the train "conductor" and it's up to you to decide if it's a well-earned tip.

Great fun, obviously it’s very touristy but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth while. $5 each we spent 40 mins on the train with no breaks. Tip the driver it’s hard work what they do. Where suncream and cover up as there is no shade while on the train

A very enjoyable ride! Definitely one of the highlights for the Battambang area. Total time is around 1hr with the stop at the other end having some food/clothes stools which is expected.

Little gem of a mini-train ride on the way to Battambang. Created bamboo sitting platform powered by motorbike engines on a single train rack with a unique method of handling trains coming in opposite directions

After reading other recent reviews it seems this experience isn’t what it used to be. Me and partner paid five dollars each for a very short train ride back and forth, gutted to hear you used to visit a village and have more time on the train before now. As soon as we arrived back we were demanded to pay a tip to the driver, which made me feel very uncomfortable. Ultimately the experience started to feel like a tourist trap, not sure I would recommend this one.

RECOMMEND BRINGING EAR PLUGS An enjoyable experience through a moderately interesting area. Very loud! (~105 dBA for the technically inclined according to Apple Watch.)
