This is a great hotel, at a great price!! Beautiful rooms and a 3 minute walk to Waikiki Beach!|The customer service WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND what I could have expected! On my second day there, I accidentally dropped my iPhone over my 8th floor balcony!!😱 Not only did a hotel employee help me the whole time I was in crisis mode, trying to find my iphone, I would find out after I FOUND MY PHONE UNDAMAGED THAT THE EMPLOYEE HELPING ME WAS ONE OF THE CASTLE HOTEL GENERAL MANAGERS!! I couldn’t believe it!! The hotel general manager MADE TIME TO HELP ME IN MY VERY PERSONAL CRISIS!! I will NEVER forget his kindness & compassion! He made my vacation experience much better than I could have imagined! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL HOTEL. I’ll definitely stay there again, when I’m back in Waikiki Beach!

BEWARE! This is NOT a hotel. These are old condos and you will not know whether you got a decent room or a dump (see photos). We took our entire family (20 people) to Hawaii for Christmas and put them all up here. Mistake. Some rooms were decent and others were horrible, yet they all cost the same and it's not cheap. There's no housekeeping service. I am a Google Guide and I'm very honest, good and bad, with my reviews. I'd highly recommend proceeding with extreme caution if you are considering staying here.

We were happy with the hotel overall. They could definitely do better with cleaning… The floor left my feet black immediately after taking my shoes off… didn’t do that again. Also had a lot of dust on shelving and furniture. The pillows are like bags of cement! And the fitted sheet refused to stay on the bed. 🙃 Those are really my only complaints. We LOVED having two showers in the bathroom and the aesthetic of the room and hotel was really cool. My son had a great time at the pool and the food served at Sam’s kitchen back there is really good! The hotel parking was full but we did find a garage just a few buildings away for $30/day. Location is close to the waikiki beach and we were able to walk everywhere in the area. I highly recommend the rental shop next to Shore Fyre restaurant (in the same building) called Moku instead the stands on the beach. Better prices AND more hospitable staff. My son did a surfing lesson and the instructor was just so great. A sea turtle even came up to them during the lesson on Waikiki beach!

Do your research before booking this accommodation. Overall, while the location is great, the property and amenities left a lot to be desired. Kuhio Avenue is a busy thoroughfare, and the noise starts as early as 6AM daily. Be cautious about the type of room you book. Our booking didn’t include access to standard hotel amenities like daily housekeeping, maintenance support for issues (e.g., safe and toilet problems), or baggage storage upon early arrival despite there being an in-house facility. Reception staff were indifferent anytime we made an enquiry. The property is showing its age, with mould in the bathroom, kitchen, and under the desk in the living room, plus furniture wear and tear like fraying upholstery. Space is limited—there’s not enough room to hang damp towels, and the kitchen is poorly equipped for a self-contained unit (e.g., no dish drying rack, coffee machine with no filters, only one tea towel). The aircon unit was directly above the bed so not ideal to run while we slept, so we opted for fresh air—only to deal with traffic noise and smoke/vape smells drifting in all night. The sofa bed mattresses were very uncomfortable, and the bedroom wardrobe didn’t have doors. While the bedroom was spacious, the bathroom was tiny with minimal benchspace.

The hotel staff was very rude!!! Apparently they are incapable of housekeeping services or making guests feel welcomed. They do not clean rooms regularly and charge a cleaning fee. They were very put out when I asked for fresh sheets or towels during my week-long stay. I am very unimpressed and will not chose to stay here again.

Booked during time of covid. Did not honor refund policy. Was charged total of about $1500. Property then offered a replacement booking through 2024. Emailed, called multiple times and left several messages. They never got back to me after the initial communications. Completely ghosted me. Dishonest business and a crook in my opinion. I expect a response in this forum from owner.

Google
DUMP....rooms are very outdated. $169 "check-out cleaning fee" that was never disclosed via engine where room was booked. My reservation receipt stated that due at hotel would be $50 for fees and taxes. They will not let you check in unless you pay "check-out cleaning fee" of $169 upfront. WHAT A SCAM!!! Cleaning fee for hotel room that MUST BE paid upfront?!!! Photos of the rooms are highly edited or simply fake. I have attached picture of the room I stayed at that claims to be "kitchenette/studio". This is not 3-star hotel, and honestly Super 8 in remote Kansas would look much more appealing. Pool looks good on pics but you are risking skin deceases upon contact with water..Just filthy... The only positive thing would be location.

Google
Why is this hotel with such a low rating always fully booked? The reason is the hidden item of cleaning fee. They marked the room rate very low but charged a high cleaning fee, sometimes it can be 70 dollars, sometimes it can be 250 dollars. Most websites, such as Agoda, where we booked, do not explain the cleaning fee at all. Our order was to pay 30 dollars at the hotel, but the hotel charged 206 dollars. The hotel facilities are extremely poor. It belongs to the worst type of hotel. They use low prices to defraud innocent people. When you arrive at the hotel, there will be an uncertain cleaning fee waiting for you. Please don't be fooled.

Yelp
Had an amazing stay at the Bamboo! Came into town for the marathon and really appreciated the convenient location and cozy accommodations. The kitchenette had everything I needed to store snacks and extra fuel for the marathon. It was just a friend and I, and we really loved that Bamboo was such a walkable spot from all of the things. Literally less than 5 min from the beach, lots of food options around, diamond head and the farmers markets were close, and it was literally a 10min walk from the finish of our marathon. The staff were extremely nice and thoughtful. Checked in on me a few times since I had a late check out. Always super helpful and conversational. I would 100% stay here again for the next visit.

Yelp
Spent nearly a week at the Bamboo Waikiki and it was a great experience. Super convenient, so close to the beach (two small blocks). Great location as we were right in the heart of great food and shopping options. The atmosphere was quite good. Clean. Helpful staff and Cecilia was super friendly. The room was a bit small but the purpose of the trip was to be on the beach not sit in a hotel room. All the amenities you need in the room. The dyers on the 12th floor was broken so we did have to wait to use the dryer on the 8th or 4th floor.

Pauline A.

Yelp
Room 408 privately owned! Terrible musty smell throughout, carpet, cabinets, dishes, dresser! this room is not remodeled like other hotel owned studios. It faces another hotel above a large trash bin that is never closed. it is not worth $120.00 per night. the plastic cover on the pillows meant to keep out bed bugs actually hid the yellow staining showing the old age of them. the towels were nice. the studio needs a remodel.

Yelp
We actually booked through a 3rd party site that was technically for an airbnb inside the hotel with amazing beach views. When we got there, the front desk had told us they had to make rebook us to a different room because of a leak!! We had no notification or warning of this change til we got there! The new room = OUR VIEW WAS OF THE WALL OF THE BUILDING NEXT DOOR, and was on the lower floor. So why did we spend nearly $500, NO APOLOGIES, no reinbursement or anything for a sad room. We paid for 3nights july 2nd-july 5th morning check out. When we checked in the front desk told us they didnt have any available parking on their lot - so my husband and I parked in the next door hotel (Pacific Monarch) and paid $30/day for 2 nights. Right when we left our car the staff told us we are not allowed to park there unless we were guests of THEIR hotel and if we try to park in their hotel again we would get towed?? Amenities = we went swimming and realized a few minutes in the pool was extremely dirty, NOT clean at all. Dead bugs and leaves were floating in the pool, and employees working the restaurant were laying on the beach chairs. We asked our front desk for extra shampoo & conditioners because we were there for 3 days and she said please ask the morning shift front desk ladies.. Pros: -location of hotel was closeby to all the restaurants! & 2 min walk to the beach. -they have a cool rock/mountain decor waterfall in the pool area. - the inside of out room smelled nice & had a full pull out couch/bed. Unfortunately the cons outweighed the pros; I probably would not recommend this hotel solely because 1. Front desk customer service wasn't helpful except one of the male front desk hooked it up with soap & shampoo & conditioner and didn't get upset when we asked for extra towels. 2. Parking was a nightmare !!!! They overbook the parking so you have no choice but to park on the street where you risk getting a ticket because the meters not working 3. They did not move us to a higher level with a view, which is what we paid for, you might just be facing the wall of nothingness!!

Yelp
If you ever need a stable trip in Hawaii go elsewhere. This place is not professional having only people who scam people for extra charges they refuse to refund. They apparently have no contact information for their managers and their district either. If you're planning to book a a stay in Hawaii, DO NOT choose this location if you don't want to be paying an extra bill for a stay. The workers here are trying to make extra money by LYING to their consumers and giving them NO RECEIPTS from any payment history from your account.

Yelp
Older hotel with the comforts of home (kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, sink, iron & ironing board, Pots, glassware w utensils, electric two burner top), nice size room with private balcony. Walk to shops, eateries, & beach. Value for the price. They do charge you @$200 for cleaning fee added to Your room total and they do not service the room daily. I did request and get from the front desk- extra coffee , towels, & toiletries. My room was on the 8th floor - pretty quiet. Laundry facility on this floor also. So if you just need a quiet place without all the fancy extras the larger hotels offer this place will work. Then you'll have more $ to play with.

Shannon K.

Yelp
Pros.. super convenient location right in the heart of Waikiki. Walkable distance to the beach, dining, and shopping. They had a bunch of surfboards, boogie boards, and floaties that previous customers had left and were free to use! The rooms included kitchens with microwave, stove top, and fridge. Cons.. one of the main reasons I booked was for the tropical pool and hot tub area. The hot tub was broken the whole time we were there. There was no parking available in the hotel three of the four nights we were there. So we had to park in another garage three blocks away. The restaurant by the pool did not serve alcohol.

Tyler B.

Yelp
Everything was great besides them charging you a cleaning fee for $177 for after your stay. In other words, you are charged $177 for them to clean your room after you leave rather than while you are staying there. How does that make any sense? Lol

Manny A.

Yelp
Stay away!!! This place is bad!!! The elevator kept breaking down, the service was bad, and our room was never cleaned even after requesting it to be cleaned at the front desk.

Mike Arnold ..

Yelp
Hotel was not expensive. They didn't clean the room unless you requested. You had to go to front desk to request more towels and soap. My view from balcony was facing a busy street. It was not quiet and when you tried to sleep the noise and pedestrian traffic was loud. Hotel is ok not very clean. Stove in kitchen was wiped with a greasy rag..

Christina L.

Yelp
I had a bad experience with a VBRO booking at this location but then I met Cecilia at the front desk and she went ABOVE AND BEYOND. The staff here especially her is amazing my room is now amazing as well. I could not be happier with my choice. Great place to stay clean, great little pool and bar area. Close to everything a 2 block walk to the beach. Great accommodations for the price. Just book direct through them and stay away from VBRO ! You'll thank me for saying deal with the hotel itself they are beyond friendly and only wish to make your stay the best! Thank Cecilia The lewis bunch appreciates you beyond words!

Andy A.

Yelp
Very old motel/hotel. Under staffed. Dirty. The elevator needs to be put down, scariest elevator ever, looks and sounds like omits 200 years old. Tried taking the stairs but you can't , the door to the stairwell has an alarm that goes off when you open it- completely insane!! The pool is tiny and dirty. Don't be lured in by the lower rates than surrounding hotels, definitely not worth even the lower rate. Aloha!!!

Bogart P.

Yelp
I definitely don't recommend this place it's really outdated and under construction it's really hard to get a hold of management or let alone you will be charged a cleaning fee that you will have to pay. It's $204 which they don't tell you until upon checking they don't clean your room until you leave the day of checkout, so it's kind of pointless if you go to activities or go to the beach every day you really come back to a dirty room pretty much avoid this place the restaurant there is good I do recommend that, but other than that bad experience, loud surroundings and ambience.

Yelp
At the end of our honeymoon trip. It turns out we actually had a blast. The byob rule was actually a godsend as we could get drinks in the local liquor store or the ABC store around the corner and the restaurant would mix us drinks using our liquor that we would pour ourselves and they would use their mixers to create Gordon's cocktails! and the food in the restaurant (open 5pm-10pm) is delish!! Their liquor license is coming soon! on our next trip here we will get to see it in all its glory. There is no maid services which worked out ok as there is laundry machines. And the kitchenette worked out fabulously! The rest of the staff were amazing to work with. Especially the restaurant staff! And the other front desk people were very friendly and obliging. I would definitely stay here again, especially knowing what I know before hand. But on first arrival dining out these things (mentioned in original review) they are a bit of a surprise.

David A.

Yelp
You will not be able to park on-site, regardless of what their website or your reservation says beforehand. The front desk employees were kind and helpful, the parking situation/lie is a management issue, so keep that in mind if you choose to stay here. We had to park a few blocks away, the lady at the front desk was nice enough to give us the closest public parking options.

Scott F.

Yelp
Location-wise it is great because it is very close to the beach, a surf rental shop that rents surfboards for $5 for two hours and many good eateries. The outdoor restaurant/pool area is a nice hangout place at night. The room I stayed in was part of an AirBnB. I wish the sheets were changed on a daily basis and have the trash cleaned out. It included a small kitchenette and small freezer/refrigerator. The bathroom wasn't that great. There was no fan and the toilet paper dispenser was broken? The TV only had about 10 channels, the Olympics started and I had to use Hulu on my phone to watch. The price is cheap but you get what you paid for.

Yelp
Second trip "home" to visit our extended ohana at the Bamboo. I understand Nicole moved up to management which is good for the property but ?? for customers. few glitches... Rooms are immaculate. decorated beautifully plenty of nice towels. daily housekeeping. green hotel. affordable luxury. welcoming. warm. These are only a few of the ways to describe my favorite hotel ever. The imterior really is lovely.. Affordable and a super short walk to the beach...the back yard or oasis is like being elsewhere. Green and lush the pool is wonderful as is the hot tub and the torches at night are magical with cabanas and tables all around. Thursday night reception was nice with music, lei making and snacks (shrimp, chips, pineapple, cheesecake, pizza samples and more!) they had a vat of Bamboozled drinks (which has rum) so we passed on that but had delicious guava juice. My son mentioned to the singer it was my daughters bday and everyone sang! If for some reason you need something...ask! The spirit of aloha is real here... Mahalo for the wonderful stay...this isn't goodbye but a hug hou... until we meet again... They did go over and above by providing a birthday cake for my daughter in Liu of a room upgrade....unfortunately there was a random cancellation of my reservation 5 days before arrival (end result was a higher rate) and the fact that this trip was also for our honeymoon was overlooked (nothing done for it)...(bummer...I'd spoken with Kimari prior to arrival to set it up...I think whoever inadvertently cancelled our reservations messed that up. The hotel is wonderful as always and we grilled in the backyard oasis the last night. It's sadly ironic...we saw Fe when we were checking oit...guess she'd had the week off...we still fondly remember her and even have pics from the last trip with her...

Yelp
We stayed at The Bamboo hotel for about 3 days, 2 nights. We're Oahu residents and booked this hotel bc our place was getting fumigated. I booked through Agoda. I booked two rooms. Honestly in my option the pictures don't do justice to the rooms that we had. We had a room fit for two people, I had my three kids with me as well, and it was perfect for us all. The bed was comfy, their was a sofa inside that turned into a bed, the living room was very spacious even when we had the sofa bed open out. The kitchen was a decent size, had microwave, coffee pot, toaster, mini ice box, ice bucket & a stove top kitchenette. They also had pots, pans, fork, spoons, cooking Utensil (I brang my own bc I never go to hotels and don't know what to expect) but they had it all. Bathroom was nice and cute, tub, toilet and a sink. It was tight, but nothing to get dramatic about its not like we slept in there and spent our time in there. The only thing that caught us off guard was the faucet for the sink, when we turned it on, it shot right at us on the counter. Overall the room was spacious, comfy, and worth the price. We had the view of the street and it was enjoyable just people watching on the balcony. We left the glass door open at night while we slept and woke up to loud town noises (we're from the quite country) so it was just really different. For the outside pool area, definitely a place to relax and hang out. We went during the day to take a swim with my kids and it was nice. The scene is like a jungle/forest pond theme. Literally surrounded by a bunch of trees. It definitely made is feel like we hiked up a mountain to a secluded pond in the middle of nowhere and had a beautiful day swimming away from society. Plus we had the whole pool to ourselfs during the day anyways. They have a jacuzzi, a 6ft deep pool, a cute little waterfall and seating area to relax. We did go to the pool area at night and it was a beautiful site as well. The lights hanging above the seating area, the lights in the pool, and the environment there just made it seem so chill. If you stay here, then come chill at the pool at night. They do have a restaurant area there, unfortunately we didn't eat the food, we bought outside food, but the hostess and waiters were super nice to still check on us. It is BYOB for now until they get they're liquore license, but they still serve you and assist you with any help. Very friendly. Overall, it was a great experience. For being away from home for a short period of time at a place like this was great. We definitely want to book this hotel again if we ever do a staycation. They're around so much good food too, their was this Cuban sandwich place right across the street and we kept staring at it but unfortunately didn't get to try. Who knows, maybe we'll book another stay soon and head on over there. They're right down the road from the beach, from shopping areas, seriously a very nice hotel. The receptionist, Rachelle, was very nice. Always answered the phone in a nice tone and very helpful even to the point of coming to my room to assist me with the TV bc I couldn't function it properly (I couldn't point it in the middle of the screen, I'm such a doink). Thank you so much girl! Great experience for me and my family. We all agreed if we have to book a hotel again it be this one. It simple yet very comfy. Thank you so much!!

Angel M.

Yelp
Hawaii travelers stay away from this place. I wish I could give this place 0 stars, be wary of their reservation system and I'm glad I'm not the only one that experienced similar issues. I booked the hotel through Expedia on vacation, when I went to check in at the front desk the lady informed me they were booked and that my reservation was invalid as well as they we going to contact Expedia to refund my money. After my vacation I contacted Expedia since I had not received my refund and launched a report on the hotel in which the hotel refused to issue me a refund and stated that I never showed up for check-in. I spoke with employees there as well as the manager at the time and got no where. So I got scammed out of paying for a hotel I never stayed in.

Michael H.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect stay. Please ignore the 1-star comments on here saying this place is old, dated, and dirty. First off. This hotel is very clean. There was always a cleaning person making their rounds around the lobby and pool area. Again. Very clean. As far as old and dated??? That's the CHARM of this place. It is like an awesome time travelling experience back to 1950s Waikiki. Remember Don Ho? That's what this hotel is all about. If you want a super fancy high end hotel where all the guests have plastic surgery ... then by all means, stay at another property. The rest of us will enjoy this super laid-back classic.

Kevin P.

Yelp
AVOID at all cost! Booked through hotwire and upon checking in, they were charging me a whole lot more. Fraudulent activity going on in here and would NEVER recommend for any one to stay here

J W.

Yelp
inexpensive, low key hotel. good location. pool area is a bit of calm in the busy wikiki area. poolside restaurant. pool includes a hot tub. street side room has a bit of road noise. no housekeeping service during our stay due to covid. a broom and dustpan would be helpful. they might want to consider a self service towel exchange. we stayed 9 nights, long time for one set of towels. small issues: we stayed in a kitchenette room. could use a mixing bowl. our frying pan had a loose handle. tv remote needs batteries. room was clean, beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked well.

Janie M.

Yelp
We really wanted to love this hotel. We actually did until they tried to kick us out because their reservation system was awry and we had to prove we actually reserved for the fourth night -- and the desk guy said, "OK, you can stay." Um, WHAT? Better stuff first. We're kama'aina and their discount was very generous. The location is superb for the price. The hotel has charm, there's a nice little concierge desk, and the amenities are just right for a moderate hotel. Most interactions with the front desk were pleasant (especially Moana -- really nice guy). The hotel is clean, and I liked the decor and comfortable vibe. The pool is nicest of all. So. The reservation system is seriously messed up, and the customer service unforgiveable. The first day we were there, we were settling in and I got a cancellation notice on my email. "Your reservation has been cancelled." Obvs we didn't do that, and a call to the front desk straightened that out. So onward to our third day, and we were relaxing in the room when housekeeping let themselves in. "Are you extending your stay?" she asked, surprised to see us. "Uh, yes," we said. Meaning, yes, we reserved for a fourth night. (When I originally reserved, we reserved for three, and I called to add an additional night. My emails reflect it, and my last res email plainly stated four nights. Perhaps this is what wonked out the system. Why, I've no idea.) A few minutes later, I'm on the phone with a ghost tour agency trying to book us something to do that evening, and my husband answers the room phone. He hangs up in dismay, I hang up with the tour guy, my husband says, "We have to leave." Apparently the front desk has told us we have to get out. We start madly packing and I'm like, wait, let me find the ressie on my email. My husband calls the front deks back and says we have the email stating we're on for a fourth night. Front desk says he needs to see the email. (Here the onus is on us to prove our "right" to stay." The entire exchange with this guy went this way.) Meanwhile, I call and guy says we won't be charged for the fourth night if we're out in about 30 minutes. Apparently the hotel is full, there's no alternative. Someone else has booked our room. Finally I'm incensed and I go down with my husband, and the front desk guy (this is Saturday 6/8 around 1:30 p.m.) has reviewed the email and just keeps saying, "My notes had nothing about your staying a fourth night." OK, well, I'm sorry you had inadequate "notes," but this is your excuse and how you rep your hotel in a major snafu? He kept repeating why he was correct in thinking we'd no right to stay. THIS is what upsets customers. You can make even a major mistake, and if you own the problem and try to straighten it out, the guests are less likely to be angry. We're down there with all our bags, finally, not WANTING to stay (and expecting a chain of emails like the very first one on our first day saying we had to get out) and the guy just once again said, "I said you could stay." Yeah, right. I demand he print out the details of our stay so he doesn't overcharge us, quiz him on who he is and who is his manager (oh, and over and over he stated no one in the entire Aqua chain in management works weekends, so there's no one else we can call at the time.) No attempt to rebook us in another of the large number of Aqua hotels, which is what I'd have done. It was a big weekend at Waikiki, Pan Pacific fest, and Waikiki was largely booked. It wouldn't have been easy to waltz into another hotel and get a room. Believe me, I'd have headed straight for the Surfrider. We go outside, hail a cab, go to the airport, get on the next flight to Big Island where we live, pay $200 extra for the switch, and are really, REALLY glad to be home. So here is our experience with the Aqua Bamboo. We'll never stay there again. It's a shame, because I really felt we had a kama'aina home.

Brittany W.

Yelp
Was not impressed with this place. We were given one towel and wash cloth for our entire stay. When we requested clean ones we were asked what happened to the ones given to us at checkin because they do not have extras. There was a huge dead cockroach smashed on the carpet outside our door and he remained there for the duration of our stay so no one was vacuuming. Our bathroom had two showers but one had water that was so scalding hot that it could not be used. Pros: beds were decently comfortable. Patio area was cool and looked as pictured. Pool area was nice.

Kristin S.

Yelp
A very quiet hotel. We had a blast relaxing by the pool and enjoying some of the delicious food from the kitchen. They do not serve alcohol however the waitress was able to create a funky juice mix and we purchased a bottle of vodka to mix it with and it was great! Friendly staff as well!

Elisabeth S.

Yelp
Perfect location. Simple quick walk to the beach. Also with the pool right there, it was perfect to go swimming weather at the pool or at the beach. Eddie and Michael who work at the pool, are very friendly, hospitable and give perfect service. Great guys. We had a wonderful week at Aqua bamboo. During Christmas time!

Katherine F.

Yelp
Stayed here for one night. Stay anywhere but here. The staff puts their stress on you. They won't even let you sit or stand in the courtyard you paid for after 10pm when you see other people out there. All decorations and key systems are outdated compared to the other two hotels we stayed in within a block on the same trip. I would recommend staying anywhere but here as you can be treated much better and have a better vacation experience a block down the road. Spend a couple extra dollars to not have staff who are rude to you and put their stress on you when you ask if there is a room to check into an hour early as well. The worst hotel experience I have had in Waikiki out of the Aston Circle and Courtyard and this hotel

Calen S.

Yelp
So I usually don't leave review but the service we got at the byob pool was terrible. They said that we can't join them if we're not dining in. So we canceled our reservation because it was a long wait so we brought a bottle ordered food. Foood took forever !! The server made us sit at the bar we had 3 people and only 2 seats were open she made her kid scoot over at the bar then proceeded to talk s*** to the other bar tender and give us a hard time. Didn't expect that outta this place but it really soured me

Carol K.

Yelp
I really like this little place. It has bit of tired panache but the location is stellar. I love swimming in the little pool in an oasis like setting in the middle of Waikiki with tall buildings all around. I also love the fresh fruit and newspapers and decent coffee and friendly staff. The plumeria on our hard cheap towels and good hair care products are sweet. The lobby could use a little love and fresh furniture but has a relaxing feel. The only thing that must change is to have someone clean the front door several times a day if needed. It was smeared and unappealing at first, second and every time we walked through it. Clean the glass Please and Mahalo and see you next time! Returned 3 weeks later to a pristine front door! How welcoming!

Kelly B.

Yelp
I stayed in the condo portion so I can't really say much for the hotel portion, so maybe this isn't really a fair rating. However the staff when we initially arrived seemed... less than eager to help me check into the condo portion, my guess is they're annoyed by it all and I'm sure they get a ton of people like me. But moving on, the lobby.... Is very dated. Tons of hand prints all over the glass, the elevator was disgusting and just the entire decor was screaming for some type of an update. The place was decently cleaned, there was some weird smell in one of the corners but it also looked like they had a pipe issue that was being addressed. The outside pool area is REALLY cool, although it wouldn't hurt to have some consistently going to clean the area since there are so many flower trees around, more than once my husband broke into the employee area to clean. The pool does close at 10pm and they are really strict about it so that's kind of a bummer especially if you are just coming back from a night out. Over all it was decent, but not overwhelming awesome.

Yelp
Frankly I'm shocked by all the positive reviews here. First off, this place is in very shabby conditions and I'm being kind when I describe it as shabby... (worn furniture, discolored bath tub, sliding doors that do not block out the noisy traffic sounds, not to mention the extremely noisy AC that leaks water outside on the patio). Oh let's not forget that we have a view straight into another neighbor's room... I swear you could almost jump from one lanai to another. Worst yet, they charge a $25 + tax resort fee per day... for what? I'm not sure bc the amenities here are definitely subpar compared to all the other hotels around here. The staff is nice however there are plenty of better options here in Waikiki. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Yelp
Horrible place to stay at. Horrible service and every single one of the workers especially the women are so rude and not accommodating whatsoever. Horrible treatment and just completely unfriendly. Any questions asked about the hotel or even Waikiki itself, was responded with such rudeness and one word answers. Do not stay here.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hotels in the whole world. No it is not the newest, and it's pretty unassuming from the outside, but the room we had and the service we received was extraordinary. The staff are exceptional in their response time and friendliness, and make staying in a hotel feel more friendly than other places we have stayed. The pool is very nice, as is the hot tub, and the setting of both feels like a calm little oasis in the wildness that is Waikiki. You get what you pay for with the rooms, so upgrade to a suite and you won't regret it. Fe, Brandon, and Braden all deserve to be mentioned as superior staff. Thanks for making our move so much easier!

Yelp
Well. We just got back from a one week stay. Was NOT happy. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times & this was the worst. I'm so sick & tired of everyone blaming EVERYTHING on COVID! With that being said, that was the excuse for NO HOUSE KEEPING. Yep that's what I said. NO. HOUSE. KEEPING. Our floor right outside the elevator was full of sand, By the end of the week we had to wear shoes in our hotel the floor was so bad. The front desk seemed clean & the staff was very pleasant, & did their best to give u more than the 2 beach towels & couple of bath towels that were left in our room at the beginning of our stay. (Mind u there were 4 of us. 4 of us for ONE WEEK with 4 bath towels, & 2 beach towels, being at the beach, the sand.) Omg it was horrific. Pretty sure the "high end" hotels are having daily house keeping. Now let's talk about the ants. Ants on the counter, top of stove was dirty, there was long black (woman's) hair all over the couches & bathroom. No channel directions for the TV. Bed was actually pretty comfy. Only problem there was, there was 1 blanket on the bed & one in the closet. Big problem when u have 2 kids with u, sleeping on NOT a fold out couch but 2 couches that have removable back pillows. They barely could share the 1 extra blanket that was left. And of course we had to wait until the next morning because they had none left, is what the front desk said. The sheets were clean but VERY dingy white. They needed to be replaced. Not worth the amount of money we spent. But we made it work. IF we ever go back it most definitely won't be to this hotel

Yelp
Aqua Bamboo is a small and hidden gem for a low priced hotel. I would definitely return as it offers the most bang for your buck. Pros: The lobby has a great decor, the entrance water feature lends it's hand to a great photo op, the swimming pool area has beautiful landscaping and areas to lounge (probably the nicest pool area I seen for a hotel of its size), the standard hotel room offers a hot plate and cooking utensils, hotel is secure after 10p and only guest card gains entry, DVD Rentals in the lobby, complimentary shuttles to Ala Moana, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. A possible additional plus although I didn't try it on this trip is they have a Pizza Restaurant that based on the menu looks like some good eats. They are open for diner only. Cons: Standard hotel room is on the smaller side, as is the pool area (both of which should be expected as this is a smaller hotel), parking is $25 per day regardless if you plan to leave your car in the whole trip, and no HD for almost all channels (TV(32")/Service, there were a few ok almost HD seeming channels). Bottom Line: If you are on a budget or just looking for a great deal this is the place to go. I will definitely be back here for staycations and I live on the island haha.

Yelp
I booked the aqua bamboo on my most recent business trip to Honolulu and it was a very comfortable, clean and affordable option. The room was great! I was upgraded to a larger suite on arrival. Very comfy bed, loved the waterfall in room and amenities were perfect. The location is great without paying too much for the price. Very quick walk to the beaches and accessible to the restaurants and shops. The front desk and employees were very friendly. The manager left notes in the room and delicious chocolates as a thanks for staying. I'd definitely come back and stay there again.

Yelp
We are kamaaina, our family from mainland stayed here, what a dump.. i wished they'd of told me so i could've got them a way better spot and area for a cheaper rate.. since we wanted to be close to them we tried to get a room there kamaaina rate.. 300$ a night plus all the extra charges? for Kuhio? ... we went to visit them there couldn't go up to room bc of covid restrictions despite being local and fully vaccinated... so we visited at the restaurant that is on premises that has nothing to do with waikiki bamboo thankfully! they are great! one of the kids with me jumped in the pool and was asked to get out of pool.. that was fine no problem do your job, but don't be an asshole about it since we are there spending money at the restaurant and visiting family that is staying there spending money in your roach infested hotel from what my fam says. and from what we saw around toilet area.. Rochelle was as rude as rude could be the hotel lobby clerk.. if you don't like your job you can find another Rochelle, you don't have to be nasty to children, talk to the parent if you have a problem.. you're staff will also be getting reviewed from our family that had bad attitude over misplaced room key smh.. it's covid you're lucky ppl coming to stay at your raunchy hotel.. my SIL stated it looks like a place where sex trafficking happens.. very possible or something going on in the back , didn't look right ppl filming women.. the pool def needs some chemicals cuz that shit was cloudy AF... stay away from this place y'all. fam could've stayed regular price at sheraton one less night for same amount! Rude local ppl running the place.. no aloha..

Yelp
My husband and I visited Oahu for 3 days in September and stayed at Aqua Bamboo. We were not looking to spend a significant amount of money on our hotel since we were only there a few days and wanted to be located relatively close to the spots we wanted to visit in our short time (Waikiki beach, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor). This hotel fit the bill as it is within walking distance to Waikiki beach and wasn't as expensive as the other commercial hotels (i.e Hilton, etc). Pros: conveniently located, staff were friendly and helpful, price, the room had a fridge/stove top/kitchenette Cons: Our room was outdated and muggy even though we had a wall AC unit running. The shower did not have all that much water pressure. Also the elevator was so tiny that it could barely fit two people and luggage. Overall I'm happy with our selection as it fit within our budget and we were only there a few days. I would have been looking to upgrade to another hotel if we were in Oahu longer than 3 nights.

Yelp
Nice start to our Hawaiian trip! We found the first typical relaxed feeling here! Take a seat in the lobby and take a look at the pool, it's like a little oasis in the city! The rooms are comfy and practically equipped. Good value for money! The sound of the city and of the ac is a little bit to loud. It's a fine starting point to explore Waikiki and the whole island. We went by bus up to the North Shore without problems from here. Aloha.

Yelp
The price was right, in a decent location, and it didn't have flowery bedsheets/blankets (one of my prerequisites for hotels in Hawaii). The room was clean, neat and tidy and was decorated in an Asian inspired fashion. The complimentary breakfast was sub-par but then again, you don't go on vacation to eat hotel food. The people at the front desk were very cheerful and friendly. They helped me call cabs to various destinations (many of which I didn't know how to pronounce, so they told the cabbie where I wanted to go), gave me directions on how to get to places in Waikiki and always greeted me in the morning. I was so satisfied with the whole experience that I tipped them $100.

Yelp
Room 902 shower handle is broken. Handle fall off everytime I shower. Cold water pressure is weaker then hot water. Ac is super loud, hard to sleep. No food service. No parking, I have to pay $30 next door to park for 4 days. No fitness room, but I don't work out haha. It's a suite, so that is good. Mean it has a kitchen, microwave, and sink. Also has air conditioner, cable, patio deck, swimming pool, free water and coffee, and very close to ABC stores and restaurants.

Yelp
This hotel is under renovations first all, which I don't recall being disclosed in my original reservation. No water in kitchen, old wifi instructions and no pool until the 9th of July. Worst experience was leaving, around 10:30 AM, no elevator and I had to haul 5 bags down 14 flights of stairs. Asia from front desk has no clue how to diffuse a challenging situation with customer service skills. I was upset admittedly but she kicked me out of the hotel lobby. My husband is in the hospital, I am just trying to get home. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. No Aloha.

Yelp
This hotel was definitely a great place to stay while visiting Waikiki. We booked a room with a kitchenette and king sized bed. When we arrived the kitchenette was supplied with utensils and cooking utilities. The room was very nice and quiet, facing the pool area we enjoyed lounging out on the balcony. The pool is very beautiful and a great place to relax. For a comfortable and affordable place to stay I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yelp
While this may have been a great spot in the 80s, it clearly has not been taken care of. The rooms are terrible and super outdated, the ac units leak, and the staff clearly doesn't care. Yes great location, walking distance to everything but definitely NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Your better off spending $50 extra a night for something you'll actually have a good experience from.

Yelp
Forgot to talk about the hotel itself. The location is great because you're really close to the strip (walking distance). About 30 minutes to Wahamelo beach and everything else (if you have a rental to drive around the island) Hotel has a pool and hot tub, with lots of lounging chairs, 2 cabanas, by the pool there's a small restaurant that opens during afternoon - evening time, they also have outdoor dining tables so you can enjoy your food by the pool side. They have laundry area on 4th, 8th and 12th floor. Although you have to purchase detergent at the front desk, or buy your own at the store, I like the option of doing laundry myself cause there were a lot of incidents hotel staff ruin my clothes while washing them. They also have dry clean service if you request with the front desk. They have their own parking garage for guests with rental cars. Which will cost you $25 per day. The only thing that was weird is they didn't have a hair dryer in their room. It's okay though because if you really need one, you can call the front desk and they can bring one up to your room.

Yelp
1st night, lights didn't stay on in the kitchen, toilet was leaking, bedsheets were yellowed-stained and the folded bath towel had a pubic hair. They moved us to another room, smaller but none of the issues the 1st night. New room, tub handle fell off and dried vomit on the balcony. Pool was under construction and kept pushing their opening out, but honestly, the place was gross. Sure, the people who worked there were very nice but that's not a reason to stay.

Yelp
The website made the hotel seem very fancy, and indeed the lobby and the pool areas are very well landscaped and decorated. You almost forget that there's a ugly garage on the other side of the fence. Unfortunately, our room did not share the same flair. In fact, our room did not look anything like the rooms in their pictures. We had booked a room with a double bed and got two twin beds. They told us to push the beds together because they didn't have any other rooms available. The appliances were dusty and sticky, there were ants and a fly in the room, and mold in the tub area. They also left the previous tenant's alarm on, so we got a 4 o'clock wake-up call. The room desperately needed a new housekeeper and a fresh coat of paint. On the other hand, the rooms are decently priced, especially for how close Waikiki Beach and everything else is. The staff is also very nice. Don't check in expecting much more than a motel and you'll be happy. Besides, you'll barely be in your room anyway. Go enjoy the beach; it's only two blocks away!

Yelp
Nice room, 10th floor, good deal for a last minute stay. Has a little kit here with stove top and microwave, along with decent cookware/plates, etc. Small, simple and clean. Great last minute deal for and good location. Our room also has 3, yes 3 separate useable balconies.

Yelp
Read a handful of reviews and was very hesitant to book a room at this hotel. Our Lyft driver was unfamiliar with this hotel and had a difficult time locating the hotel. If you are not paying attention you will definitely miss the turn into the property. The front desk clerk, Zenie was very nice and welcoming as was every employee we encountered. Our luggage was conveniently delivered to our room. We stayed in the 1 bdrm suite w/ a fully stocked kitchen. (No paper towels). The room had a separate bdrm with a queen size bed, a living room space that included two single beds, a table and two chairs and the full kitchen. The added touch of real orchids in the bathroom to decorate the towels and bathroom counters were nice. Hawaiian Sun toiletries were provided. Addtn'l towels were also supplied underneath the bathroom sink so we didn't have to hunt down housekeeping. Our "view" was of a building. Wasn't that big of a deal. If we wanted to see something, we went out to experience it! As to the noise complaint..... this hotel is near EVERYTHING. (You can walk to almost every popular retail store, fast food chain, numerous bars, etc.) The noise is tolerable. Most of the shops I wanted to visit are near the Aqua Bamboo so it was unnecessary for me to make the trek to Ala Moana Shopping Center. The beach is also in walking distance. The hotel will issue you a "beach towel" card. There is a washing and drying machine on three different floors. Washing and drying hours were posted. Change machine & detergent/softener dispenser are not avail. You will need to see the front desk for change OR to buy detergent and dryer sheets. There are laundromats VERY near. Like I said, EVERYTHING is nearby. There is a free shuttle that loops around every Aqua property. We relied on Lyft & Uber and since this hotel was near everything we wanted to see and do it was much cheaper than renting a car and paying for hotel parking $30/day. There is a free reception area that offers free hot cocoa, coffee, tea, etc. Free local newspapers are also avail. You can also checkout DVDs for free at the kiosk located in the hotel lobby. WiFi was free and fast. You will need to use your room key to get back into the hotel if you are returning after 10pm. I liked this security measure. I felt safe staying at the Aqua Bamboo especially at night walking to and from the Waikiki area. Pool was a decent size and the jacuzzi looked good. The Aqua Bamboo is a good choice for those that are vacationing on O'ahu and need a cozy, inviting hotel that is conveniently in the middle of everything.
