had them cut rib eye steaks over 1 inch thick and they were positively delicious. Very tender and little to no fat. The quality of meat here is the best in Vancouver and very cheap compared to any other store in Vancouver

Came here for the first time today on recommendations from others on the price of meats. We were not disappointed. Incredible prices and great service. We were looking at ground beef and didn’t see any regular (more fat for great burgers) ground beef. The butcher asked if he could help then ground up regular beef fresh and the price was still better than anywhere else. I’ll be back and you should visit just for the meats selection and value.

Finally, had the chance to drop in this market. Been living in the area since childhood now as mid age adult hood regular visiting of my parents. Decided to drop in and check out this market. Have to say. I happy to managed to get a sliced of $5.83 watermelon, bag of 3 kinds of bell peppers for $1.49, Romaine lettuce for $1.49. Friendly staffs, and do have to say not bad prices. Support local is a good thing for family run operated local businsses.

Old school deli grocer. Find Italian imports, cheeses, cold cuts,and great value here. Perfect panini sandwhich ingredients. What a gem for East Van.

I have been a regular for 11 years. Good selection of Italian products. Reasonable price meats. Reasonable price deli meats, cheapest in town for deli. Cheaper prices for pasta.

I've been coming here since I was a little girl in the 2000s. My parents would take me all the time. So happy they're still open and still making the local community here happy. I appreciate the quality of meats, veggies, & fruit for the prices they give. Love their deli too. In a place like Vancouver where prices are going up for everything, Banana Grove is definitely a gem! I have always found their staff to be friendly too.

As far as small local markets go, it's great. The staff were kind there was actually a surprising variety of items (Asian& Italian products dominate).

Great prices, family owned and operated, fresh meats at fair prices. This place has been here a long time! I love that they work together with the church to help people in need. I'm not sure if the church pays them back OR they offer their services to the church, but I know that St Jude's Parish will give Food vouchers to people for Banana Grove. Amazing. Talk about giving back.

Best neighbourhood spot to grab any deli meats and cheese! The weekends get super busy so be sure to grab a number for the deli counter. They also do party platters!

Very good produce, butcher and deli. Good quality. Good value. Friendly service. Have been shopping here weekly for over 25 years. Thankful to have a gem like this in our neighborhood. Also worth the drive.

This place is ok. It's a bit small and cramped, so not really great for social distancing at this time but they do have some quality produce and some of their dried products are nicely priced as well. They also have a decent selection of meat as well. I've been coming here the last little while since covid started. I think it's family run and they are pretty nice people. There is a small parking lot in the back, like 2 or 3 spaces and street parking....

Really friendly and hard workers during this time of crisis. I appreciate everything you all are doing with a smile on your face! They are closed Mondays now because I'm sure they need a rest as they keep the shelves stocked and the store clean. Ive been coming here for about 5 years now and their service has stayed top notch. after i had spent more than an hour getting an online delivery from a nearby supermarket and failed, i turned to my regular neighbourhood grocery, the banana grove. i explained that i had a bad hip problem and would not want to risk a fall on the snowy sidewalks. i asked if they would bring and load my orders to my car if i should drive to the front of the store. the young man, raymond, (who turned up to be the son of the owner) who took my call said he would do so. not only did raymond load my purchases he helped me into my car as the sidewalk looked treacherous. in the past, whenever they are able the ladies would help carry my purchases to my car. it is a blessing to have a friendly and helpful grocery store like banana grove in our neighbourhood. grateful thanks, banana grove. mrs lee.

For when I am too lazy to drive farther. Sometimes my husband works on the weekends. So besides doing laundry and puttering around the house (ahem, that's code for watching tv), I like to get the grocery shopping out of the way. Since I'm not making a morning out of it, I like to get the goods closer to home. For starters, I'm not waiting forever at the deli counter. While I don't mind waiting at my other usual place, there is never more than two people ahead of me. Their prices aren't bad... still way less than other chain grocery stores. The produce is okay too... two heads of lettuce for $1.50. Sometimes the heads are a little small, but I'm not composting a lot of dead leaves... I haven't bought any fruit from there. In the summer, they had huge containers of blueberries and strawberries. Pasta is cheaper... like $1.25 for a 1lb box of Barilla. I'm sure there are other cheaper bags there, but that's just the one I buy. They have fresh pasta too. I bought some stuffed pasta. Took twenty minutes to bake and dinner was ready. They have a ton of canned goods... coconut milk for less than a dollar. I haven't ventured into the strange condiments, but good too know... I also love that they have meat. When I'm thinking about what to make to dinner, I don't have to stop any place else. I can just grab fresh chicken, pork or beef (they also have lamb..). It's just a mini-grocery store with everything I need. Plus, there's parking around the neighbourhood. They have three spots in front and then if you're willing to walk, down the side... although I don't really like parking in front of people's houses.

I don't live in the area but I use to drive here just for the great deals on deli and meats... Small neighborhood grocery and deli. Very friendly staff, great selection on produce and meats. Also carries a lot of Asian ingredients. The deli has great selection and the price cant be beat!

We moved into the neighbourhood in 2001 and have been regular patrons of this quaint market. Love that it pretty well stocks most items you would ever need. They have a high turnover of the deli items so you will always be assured of quality products that have not been sitting there long. Awesome weekly specials. Lots of parking surrounding it and when it is their annual appreciation day they give out hot dogs and deli ham. Very nice family owns it and the workers are treated like one too. They took over from the previous family.....I believe the butcher bought it and now operates it. Great meat selection or can cater to your cuts if available. I hope it stays around for many more years due to all the housing projects cropping up.

It's really all about the deli. Huge selection of meat and cheese at very reasonable prices. Their meat department is a real bargain too. Customer service here is excellent. Smells like cheese, but we come back every week.

I feel so lucky to live a few blocks away from this place. Best place to shop for groceries hands down!! And here's why: - it's small but has everything you need. Which means you won't be walking the aisles of a mega store or waiting in line for hours. I'm in and out in 20 minutes - it has a very impressive deli section that beats those of much bigger stores - the quality of products is pretty great and it's so cheap! Some of the best prices in town that I've come across. As someone who dreads chores like grocery shopping, this is my favourite place to shop.

Used to live by the area and my parents would usually make me walk over to the good ol 'Grove to pick up things they've forgotten. Great little to medium sized grocery/corner store on East 22nd and Slocan. They have a great deli for cold cuts - always a line-up around here because their prices are so good and have lots of variety! Always receive great and fast service from the nice people that work there.

Love this place been shopping here for over 15 years!Deli is always fresh with very reasonable prices and fresh cut meat from their butcher in the back is such a treat. Great owner and great group of people working there Definitely a place where my family and I will continue to support Thank you for all the years of great service to the community I have moved but will still drive out and shop here !!

Love this little market. When I'm not in the mood to go to a grocery store & still need some essentials.. Banana Grove is the place. Fresh meat (and frozen too).. veggies and fruits & a deli. Good stuff.

By far the least expensive, best quality, freshest chicken and steaks (particularly the ground chicken, boneless chicken breasts, pepper steaks); lamb prices are excellent, as well. Well worth a visit for these products alone. On the deli counter, there's often discounted, frseh ground Romano cheese (tangier that Parmesan), and lots of deli meat products on sale. Fresh salmon filet often on sale, as well.

Great place for fresh meat, bread, deli, olive oil, Italian items, fruits and veggies! Cheaper than regular grocery stores and gotta love a family run business. The ladies at the till are super nice and hardworking. Love that there's lots of free street parking.

This place is great! I go mainly for the deli and the plants (flowers were hard to come by this year) They had the most amazing meat and salami end chunks today; got 400g of corned beef in the meat ends area and paid $3.00 for it! The quality of their deli products is suberb and so are there prices; I used to go to a certain market on the Drive; but now I've started going here. Good prices on veggies but like most small places their prices on canned goods, coffee, etc are quite high. They have some of the most amazing meat as well; I believe there is a butcher on site. The prices for the fresh meat are better than at the large supermarkets...and the prices for deli meats and cheeses...wow! The taste of their deli products is so good; and they pack it very nicely...it also lasts quite awhile in the fridge. I love cheese and their cheese prices blow me awat...like I said, not a huge selection but primo quality...I don't even bother going to "that" deli on the Drive anymore. And for those who use public transport there's a bus stop right across from it and another one for the return trip across the street! Great place!!!! My #1 deli now....

I love this place. The have produce from neighbourhood producers, a wicked array of salsas and strange condiments (fat baby wasabi mayo? YES, PLEASE.) and the best cerignola olives I've been able to find anywhere, including the Drive. Their meats are reasonably priced and great quality. It's my favourite goto.

Awesome little neighbourhood market that carries an excellent selection of just about anything you need in pinch and primary groceries as well. Friendly helpful staff make this our go to from Atlin street.

Great little deli and meat counter.... Nothing special in terms of store decor but cheap and lots of variety . Huge turnover here so no worries of spoiling .

If you buy groceries here, make sure they're not rotten. If you can't see inside of what you're buying (peel or packaging), I wouldn't buy it here. They won't take it back. I wouldn't shop here again anyway, for this reason. Feels like you're being cheated when you spend money for a product you can't use that same day and the store won't refund you for it.
