On the Grid : Banana Leaf

"Banana leaf is the perfect place to have lunch with your friends and family on the days that you can’t help but crave the taste of the South. In accordance to the name, the various classic South Indian dishes such as dosas, idlis and vadas are served over a banana leaf and along with these delicacies you can sip on a cup of ‘Kaapi’ filter coffee. Some dishes that are recommended are their Jain Thakkali Parippu Rasam, Chef Special Dakshin Masala Idli and Achari Masala Dosa. Another must try is their Malappuram with Appams. This is the go to place for the people looking to have authentic delicacies from Southern Indian in Versova." - The Vibe

We recently visited Banana Leaf, located at Ground Floor, Shubham CHS, Juhu Versova Link Road, Four Bungalows, Andheri West — and the experience was absolutely fantastic! The ambience is beautifully inspired by South Indian themes, with both indoor and outdoor dining spaces. It’s the perfect spot for South Indian food lovers, and no surprise — it stays packed not only on weekends but even on weekdays. They’ve introduced a brand-new Podi Festival menu, and it’s truly something special. Their new Kadipatta Podi, mixed with generous ghee and flavour, is a must-try! Here’s what we ordered: • Tava Neer Dosa • South Canara Masala Dosa • Pacche Podi Rice • Ragi Semiya Upma • Mallige Set Green Podi Masala • Multigrain Onion Ada Dosa • Green Ghee Podi Mini Idli • Pacche Benne Masala Dosa Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly prepared. We also tried their Filter Coffee, which was refreshing and completed the meal beautifully. The service was top-notch — the staff, manager, and overall hospitality made the experience even better. Overall: 10/10 experience. This new Podi Festival menu is available across all Banana Leaf outlets in Mumbai, so visit your nearest one if you love authentic South Indian cuisine, especially their dosas and idlis. Highly recommended! 🌿✨

All idli items are very tasty & worth the high price. But the dosa & uttapam items aren't tasty. It's not as good as the value of money. Plus nothing special or delicious.. Didn't like the stuffing inside benne masala. It was only white potato stuffing..and overall bland. It was also very noisy, the service was slow but waiters would come back with what was asked from them, so that part was good.

No hype, no waiting, just proper dosas. The chutney was a tad cold but delicious, and the potato masala hit exactly the right notes for breakfast. Benne dosa was simple and nice too . If people queued based on flavour instead of filters, this place would see more people on a Sunday morning .

Recently we visited banana leaf to have some delicious south indian food. We ordered masala dosa and it was very nice. Along with chola bhatura with was a disaster. But the main important thing which I noticed was a dead cockroach sticked below the plate. I asked them about it but waiter quickly cleared it before I can take any picture. I feel banana leaf kitchen needs some scrutiny and improve hygiene.

The food at Banana Leaf in Juhu is really delicious, but I did notice that it takes a bit longer than expected for the dishes to be prepared. That said, it’s totally worth the wait! The Mysore masala dosa is definitely one of my favorites here, flavorful and perfectly soft. The filter coffee is, without a doubt, the best I’ve had in a while, strong, aromatic, and just the right balance. The medu wada, which is absolutely amazing. It’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served piping hot. The gulab jamun here is a must-try! It’s perfectly soft and serves hot and just the right amount of sweetness. The syrup is rich and flavorful, and the texture of the jamun is melt-in-your-mouth. It’s the perfect way to end a meal. Highly recommend it for anyone with a sweet tooth! Overall, a great place for authentic South Indian food, just be prepared to wait a bit for your meal!

I visited this place for lunch on Tuesday with my family, consisting of 12 people we got the table in just 5 minutes. After we settled in, we placed our orders which included 1 rice Idli sambar, 1 puri bhaji, 1 Rajani dosa, a Benne Podi sada dosa, 2 podi mini Idlis, stew with appam, Malabar curry with appam, Aviyal with appam, Chettinadu with paratha, neer dosa, and more. **Recommendation** - The Benne Podi sada dosa is highly recommended. The podi mini idli was also exceptionally delicious. **Must try** - The Malabar curry with appam or neer dosa. The stew with appam is also a must-try. Valet parking is available at this location. The flavors were incredibly delicious and authentic. The service was remarkably quick, and I appreciated the hospitality offered at this venue.

The last time we had been here app a year ago was a wonderful experience. So this time we went with the idea of repeatingvthe experience. Unfortunately the service was very disappointing. We were made to wait for the table when at least 2 tables were available. The service was very slow and the manner of taking of the person taking the orders was highly inappropriate. Halfway down the thali meal, had to wait approximately 10 to 15 mts for rice to be served. While serving the bill also the person was very disrespectful. I think the management should make an attempt so that people serving are courteous and respectful towards guests.! Oh yes, the food was great and delicious.
