I would like to think I'm an expert of banana splits or maybe just a huge fan of them. I've tried banana splits all across California, Montana, Idaho, etc. pretty much a lot of places across the west coast. My husband found this place and said we had to try it. I kid you not, THE best banana split I ever had. I love how the ice cream tasted real and not that weird fake strawberry / chocolate / vanilla taste. I loved how they used real strawberries and it just tasted exactly how a banana split should. It was the best ☺️🙌🏼

Google
This place is excellent. It gets better every day. I hadn't been there in months, but now I've been, and my banana splits have more portions of everything, much better. The guys are very friendly. I definitely recommend it. The ice cream is very soft and not too sweet.

Since the new owners took over noticed the one and only thing I get there the turtle bar is getting less ingredients and smaller.. Original one had top layer of pecans and caramel middle layer and bottom layer. Now less on the layers no middle layer at all and the chocolate around it thin so barley covering stuff inside and shape has changed so now it's thinner on top then bottom. But the price hasn't gone down. Very disappointed. Also adding more whip cream on top of the flurries and less ice cream.

Yum!!!! Unassuming but great ice cream counter. We came here on a whim and glad we did. Had the turtle bar, dipped chocolate cone and hot fudge sundae and all were delicious. Will be back! Wish it was a bit closer but worth the drive from Naperville.

Google
This place is one of my favorites in the area. Even though the owners have changed the ice cream is still really good.

Google
We were visiting our family and Banana Split was a childhood staple for my husband and his family when they lived in the area. We finally got to bring our kids. Good prices, wonderful owners and yummy treats.

Google
Great ice cream shop. Been around so long, great selection and tasty ice cream. Park right across the seat with plenty of seating. The soft serve is fantastic. Staff are friendly and orders come out quick. It can definitely get busy on a nice summer evening but the line moves quick.

Google
This place is a local favorite. It’s kind of hidden from the main roads so getting the product is fast and easy. You’ll find free parking across the street at the park. You can also find benches to eat too. They make scrumptious desserts. I had a strawberry sundae, regular banana split, and a groaner. The groaner is huge, so it can easily be shared by multiple people or one hungry individual. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Staff has always been super friendly. Prices are fair. I’ll have to stop by the spring/summer when I’m in the area.

Yelp
I already cannot wait to come back. I had friends raving about this place. They grew up going here as a kid to celebrate anything and everything and with the weather warming, up I finally gave it a try. They have everything: milkshakes, blizzards, cones, treats, etc. I kept it simple and had a strawberry-vanilla twist cone. I've never seen that twist flavor anywhere else! It was good but honestly nothing different from Dairy Queen but Banana Split isn't just about the ice cream. It's about the old-time experience of walking up to a window, placing your order, and sitting in the parking lot or park across the street to eat it. So nostalgic. Excited to come back and try some of their other treats!

Michael M.

Yelp
They have new owners here and when they first took over everything was real good since then I have continued to go there and the ice cream is still very good. You got a good size cone for your money but Service is kind of slacked off mostly younger teenagers little training, maybe and how to interact with customers would be a good idea. But we're a really small business that is doing a good job of representing the brand I will continue to go there.

Yelp
While there's normally a decent wait to order it's always worth it! Yes they have changed ownership recently however they've kept the quality I've come to expect and it's my go to ice cream spot

Yelp
If you're looking for a delicious and creamy soft serve at reasonable price, just visit this spot! I ordered a chocolate small cone. They also have other flavours and amazing desserts. It has become my favourite spot now in the burbs!

Yelp
Love the food and have been going there since I was just out of college. Drive from the south side of town to the north just to visit!

Yelp
The owner Lisa is an Angel! She helped in getting my friend that just had knee surgery, this awesome banana split! This place is a once a week stop!! Coolest ice cream shop ever!

Yelp
Banana Split has always been one of my favorite dessert places! They've been around for a long time and I've been coming here since I was a child. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is quick. The menu is easy to understand and includes some visuals on the windows. They offer many options, even for your dogs too. For any ice cream you order, ask for the eye balls!

Yelp
Really good ice cream I am glad the new owners kept it open later gives me good quality ice cream for longer

Yelp
Strawberry and chocolate mix for me. They are celebrating 40 years. Service is always fast and friendly. Very clean around the place too. Cute eyes. Ask for the eyes on your treat.

Yelp
Do not buy ice cream from the new owner, BanAna Split. They are not accepting gift cards that were sold under the previous owner. It has been 2 weeks that I have attempted to use them. They are blaming it on the bank. I'm sure that they were given credit for outstanding gift cards that have not been redeemed. I have about $13 outstanding

Yelp
Banana Split, You are a family tradition! We so look forward to your opening in the spring and saddened when you close in the fall. From cones, sundaes and banana splits everything has been great. It's now New Years Day and we are so looking forward to you reopening in spring. If you haven't tried Banana Split, add them to your to do list...,

Cyndi A.

Yelp
Been coming here since I was a kid. My siblings even worked here for a while. Love the ice cream and ambiance. Staff is always helpful and very nice. Best place to get ice cream!

Yelp
The deserts were FIREEEE!!! Awesome ice cream in tons of different flavors and extremely quick. There was a long line before us and they were whipping out orders faster than they could be written. Def will come back because the taste was amazing and didn't break the bank!!

Yelp
I was a bit surprised to see a soft serve place listed as the best ice cream in Aurora, however I am impressed. You can get soft-serve in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, and they have pints of Dole Whip (4 flavors) or coconut cream-based frozen dessert (2 flavors) for the vegan-minded, which I certainly didn't expect from a cute little local stand. Lots of options: they have three kinds of ice cream bars; two varieties of ice cream sandwich; more different types of dip-coating than Dairy Queen and two sizes of banana split. I tried the strawberry kiddie size cone, foregoing the candy eyes (what an adorable idea!), got the local equivalent of a peanut buster bar, and a pint of banana pudding ice cream, which was a revelation - a delightful smooth pudding-like concoction studded with bits of vanilla wafer. The strawberry was a nice change from vanilla if not life-changing; the ice cream sandwich fresh enough the cookies were still crispy; and the chocolate-dipped peanut- strewn bar was impressive - I'll have to try the turtle version next time. Consider me sold; certainly worth a stop.

Yelp
The best soft serve in town hands down! My girl and I love this place. I've been coming since I was a young and it's still here! The service is speedy and prices are affordable. This place is a little bit hidden next to residential houses but right across from Garfield Park. It's a seasonal store so it closes this year October 6. My favorite item to order here is the strawberry swirl with vanilla cone covered with crunch it's so good!! They also have options for your doggie too a dog which lol. I also enjoy their banana splits ands slushes. Gotta give this place a try if you haven't yet!

Angy L.

Yelp
Its really good however when busy they tend to not do so good. I got a Banana Chocolate shake and received it 1/4 empty. They usually are worth the wait but recently they speed up the process and don't deliver as efficiently.

Jess R.

Yelp
This place is amazing. My parents have been coming here since we were little kids. We used to live 2 minutes away then we moved but that still didn't stop us from coming to Banana Split to enjoy our favorite ice scream. Now we are all grown up and my parents still bring us here but with our kids. I moved away due to my military career and every time I visit we make our favorite ice scream at BananaSplit. These employees make us feel like a part of a family and their kindness has grown in us through out the years. I recommend this place for anyone who enjoys creating memories and enjoying their amazing flavors of ice scream.

Yelp
Excellent ice cream place. A variety of treats and the dole whip is the thing to get! So delicious!

Yelp
Food-4/5 Although the price was quite a bit for the food, it certainly tastes delicious. I paid around $5.50 for a small banana split. There was strawberries and fudge mixed with the perfect amount of ice cream to create the perfect taste. If only that perfect taste came at a cheaper price. Vibes/Service- 4/5 This place does not have an inside. One must order from outside and wait outside for your ice cream. I liked this since it gave me an excuse to enjoy the weather, however; they should definitely invest in outdoor tables so I don't have eat in my car. The service was good, treated well. 4+4=8/2=4/5

Yelp
George C. has some serious nostalgia for this spot. He's been getting dipped cones and flurries from this spot for decades. It's old school - park, walk up to window, order, pay, wait, retrieve order from window. They have numerous offerings of the cup, cone, dipped, shake, flurry, sundae, etc. variety. Essentially, it's darn good quality soft-serve. Better than you're going to find anywhere else nearby, for sure. The small size is far from small, fair warning. Come here and get some tasty, cold treats. I recommend getting a flurry.

Yelp
Love These places best ice Cream then any other places around . They some other mango ice whip so good ! Please try banana spilts or many other stuff cones. With smiley faces !

Yelp
Love this place! Can't believe I've lived in Aurora 2 years and didn't know of This place. Everyone was so nice and the ice cream is absolutely delicious! Will definitely come back again and again!

Terrence W.

Yelp
A private own soft ice cream stand that completes with Dairy Queen. The ice cream, in my opinion is better than Dairy Queen.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Love to put the fresh strawberries on chocolate ice cream, pineapples on the vanilla and chocolate sauce on strawberry ice cream. They use soft serve and only the perfect bananas on their banana split. No shortage of whip cream and nuts with 3 cherries to top off the perfect treat. They have 3 sizes, but I stick with the regular size. Unfortunately no tables, so enjoy your treats in your car.

Yelp
I been told that this little ice cream shop is the best in town. I finally decided to check it out for myself. I visited around the evening it was not super busy. I checked out the menu. A staff member took the order and wrote it down, handed me the slip and I took it up to the counter , in less then 15 minutes I got my ice cream. They have a variety is sweet treats ice cream twists flavors included chocolate, vanilla, strawberry. Other items on the menu included Sundaes, flurries, floats, strawberry shortcake, ice cream sandwiches, dipped ice cream cones. Oh yea if you have kids who love sprinkles on their ice cream this is the place to bring them. I ordered a hot fudge sundae. It tasted so fresh! The fudge was not overly sweet. I'm definitely coming back for a banana split ! Also, they accept cash and credit/debit card. The shop is hidden in a residential area, but not hard to find, there is a park across from it. Side note : they were celebrating Christmas in July ! How cool ! Right. There was a set up where you could take a picture with Santa clause and the elf. I could definitely feel the Christmas spirit lol. If you are in the area check this place out !

Yelp
Best soft serve ice cream in the area and its local. What else do you need to know? It is closed in the winter so check before you go.
google avatar

Karma M.

Yelp
Decent soft serve ice if you're passing through Aurora. It's not "ice cream" its soft serve.
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
If you like ice cream you have to try Banana Split not just once, but several times. They have a wide variety on their menu which offers different items at different times of the year. If you enjoy strawberry's blueberries, peaches or other fruit in your ice cream be sure to stop in during the heart of the summer. The owners make a trip to southwest Michigan to get the best fruits around. I'm a big fan of their strawberry soft serve ice cream which is difficult to find. Above the ice cream, which is better than any around, the owners (Randy and Lisa) are the nicest and kindest people you'll meet. My highest regards!
google avatar

Jay W.

Yelp
Fast friendly community based shop. The staff are always nice. The only thing bad is that it closes for the winter.
google avatar

Eunice P.

Yelp
I dont even know where to begin. We've come here several times and always get the twist cones with sprinkles and we never think anything of it. Till one day my husband peeks through the window and sees the girl just putting the sprinkles with bare hands ! She handles cash all day long, this girl doesnt wash her hands this is now the 3rd time ! We brought it up to her attention and she pacified it. Like is it so hard to wash your hands ,did your parents not teach you common hygiene. I hope you read this you are a disgusting human being I truly hope you read this you are touching food that not only adults eat but KIDS. The least you can do is wash your hands. I dont understand how a food business runs like this and the owner allows it. I hope that the food inspectors do a thorough inspection on this establishment.

Yelp
Banana Split is the best ice cream anytime. My family and I love going here then sitting in the park. When I have my nephews from New York we go to Phillips Park Zoo then to Bananas Split for dessert. Nothing beats this place.
google avatar

Jeana W.

Yelp
So I been coming here a couple years now and my son loves the ice cream cone with the eyes ! But today they ran out of eyes and when I asked for a banana split she said you had to provide your own BANANA! How are you an ice cream shop named banana split with no bananas ! Then I asked for raspberry topping they said no they don't have that either it's seasonal I asked when will you have it in stock he said end of summer ! Maybe if they put less focus on dog ice cream treats and doggy birthday cakes they could find time to stock the eyes, raspberries and bananas! FOCUS people a little FOCUS. Dairy delight here I come !
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
IMHO the best soft serve in Chicagoland! We usually get a sundae and the ice cream is extra tasty and very creamy. Even the whipped cream on top is better. Freshly baked brownies. Mmmmm. Go there. Now!
google avatar

Terence W.

Yelp
I have a mission where I would like to visit mom snd pop shops so I looked on yelp and I looked for a local ice cream shop. If it wasn't for yelp I would not have known this place existed. You walk up to it and you get a vintage ice cream shop feel. I ordered a banana split and it is spectacular. I wish they had a smaller size but that's not important. The ice cream is extremely fresh and I will make it a point to bring my family to this ice cream shop instead of a chain.

Dave F.

Yelp
An old fashion ice cream shop they have several choices to choose from Even with a crowd they are efficient
google avatar

Perla S.

Yelp
We passed by here and decided to get a banana split since it was the name so it had to be good. I was right! We got the regular one and we finished it really fast! This is better than all the places back at my town! Me and my family have started a tradition today.... to come here every time we come to Aurora!
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Banana Split feels vintage because it IS vintage. It's a tiny ice cream shop in Aurora, tucked away in a subdivision. Until I searched on Yelp, I didn't even know this place existed. We took our treats to the park across the street. There is no seating, and to order you walk-up to the outdoor counter, so a visit here is best when the weather is nice. The menu is lengthy - soft serve, sundaes, banana splits, flurries, etc. I had a vanilla soft serve in a homemade waffle cone with the "crunch" sprinkle topping. This place is really similar to Deri Delite, where you can get the same enormous vanilla waffle cone, but with better surroundings. Prices are reasonable, and they accept credit and debit.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a not-so-hidden gem in Aurora. Family owned, reasonably priced, and lovely to go to. A family favorite for sure!

Yelp
Several years ago, I found Banana Split via Yelp, and it stayed in my Bookmarks, moving slower and slower down the list, for two years. Finally, I decided, 2015 would be the year! It's a hike from Plainfield - with lots of turns down streets I'm unfamiliar with. Alas, Banana Split IS all the rave I had built up in my head. It's situated on the corner of a very strange intersection, so it's certainly better for walk-ups rather than drive-ups, but we still found a spot to park while we ordered and ate. Because I feel the house specialty should always be your first order at a family-owned restaurant - I went for it...and ordered the full on Banana Split. And let me tell you - it was DElicious. The ice cream almost tasted like custard...smooth, rich and so flavorful. I didn't realize that most ice creams were lacking flavor until I ate here. I also can't forget to mention the prices! This is no Oberweis. Expect to leave here having only spent a few bucks on each order. I was shocked at how inexpensive this place was. It's worth it, folks! Get over here in the summer and enjoy some amazing ice cream and treats.
google avatar

Susie K.

Yelp
Great traditional banana splits and cones. Nice park with benches to eat at across the street, great family place for ice cream to cool off on a hot day. Well worth it!

Reagan C.

Yelp
I've been going to banana split for years, it's an aurora treasure. The strawberry soft serve is a sweet creamy desert that anyone would love and if you're feeling for something thicker the Oreo flurry is awesome! Last but not least the banana split lives up to its name, my absolutely favorite item on the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
I freaking love banana split! True, part of the reason I love this place so much is that I've been going since I was a child, but it's actually a very small part. I don't go to banana split just for the sense of nostalgia, I go there because it's really good. Even when I had to drive a bit I would make the trek, and let me tell you why: the ice cream (I know that seems obvious). The closest thing to their ice cream is Dairy Queen; it's just as smooth as Dairy Queen, but even heavier and creamier. They've got many different ice-cream creations--though I'd be lying if I said that I've tried them--but I go with just a few: a cone with vanilla ice cream and their 'crunch' (an awesome mixture of sprinkles and something else that's very tasty) the eponymous banana split, which always has good quality bananas, and plenty of flavorful toppings (I forget which ones they come with, as I always request just the strawberry). the strawberry sundae, which--again--comes with a generous amount of strawberries to go with their awesome soft-serve ice cream the banana malt, which provides an awesome and harmonious marriage between a deep, nutty, malt flavor, and a sweet (NOT SUGARY), fresh, pronounced banana flavor. In my opinion, Banana Split isn't just a place you should stop by if you're in the area--though you most definitely should if you are--it's a place worth a trip when you're in the mood for ice cream. It's embedded in the neighborhood, but is easily located because 1) it's on a corner across the street from Garfield Park (is it still called that?) and 2) if you're on Sheffer road coming off of Farnsworth, you literally have to turn right or veer left to avoid plowing into it. Try it!
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
I've been visiting this place since I first discovered it in the late 80s. This place has a "Slush Float" that pretty much smokes anything at at other ice cream joints. Get a Grape slush, with a line of soft vanilla ice cream right down the middle. With Banana Split's slush floats you determine how much slush & ice cream to blend together in any given spoonful/strawful. It might be the most perfect dry mouth refreshment ever made. Of course, they DO have them mixed as slush/ice cream smoothies if you so like. And much better than Sonic's version...
google avatar

Hilary S.

Yelp
Awesome menu options, friendly staff, and quick service! Prices are reasonable, too. Even when crowded, everyone is in a good mood, which is a rare and precious find. Go there, and have the turtle treat. YUM CITY.
google avatar

Josue O.

Yelp
Great locally owned mom and pop ice cream stand. They are only open about half the year, so get it while you can! Their banana splits are delicious, just like the old-fashioned ones from when you were a kid, three scoops of ice cream, multiple toppings, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry on top. My favorite, however, is their chocolate malts. I wouldn't have a problem ordering one every day, if I weren't worried about getting thick around the middle! They're very well priced and the staff are very friendly, too!
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
I've never had a banana split here. I probably should. Love the fact that they have (delicious) strawberry soft serve. If you're a fatty like me, you can get a GINORMOUS flurry made how you want it. Family-friendly. The kids that work here are super nice. We drive 20 minutes to get here, but it is totally worth the drive. Only wish they would turn the front parking area into a seating area...plenty of parking on the side but you end up having to eat in your car.
google avatar

Andy D.

Yelp
The ice cream here is amazing. I am not a huge fan of soft-serve ice cream, but I'll eat here any chance I get. I had a banana split and the kids had a variety of flurries and ice cream cones. I saw some comments about the prices, but I think they are reasonable. We spent about $30.00 for our family of 7. We will be back...

Yelp
Great ice cream! My wife and I have gone and loved it so much we took family from out of town there. They loved it too. The ice cream is so creamy and tasty. You truly just have to try it yourself. I highly recommend the dipped cones or the cookie sandwich with ice cream in the middle. The cookie is huge!
