Very nice newly renovated resort. Has about 66 suites. The property is very nice, ideally located on the beach between Alia and Victoria House. Had an AC issue with the Bedroom AC when we checked in. They sent a tech to repair it promptly the same evening. The only thing that this resort was missing is satellite TV service. Their internet service was good. Overall the people at the front desk and all of the other employees were very friendly and nice. We enjoyed our stay.

Bananas is a very clean, quite property. It's relatively new, as in renovated and updated. I've seen some poor reviews, but I respectfully disagree with some of their complaints. I think the location is fantastic, with several places to enjoy near by, and for us, having a great dive center nearby is key. We've booked adventures through the concierge which has worked out well, being picked up right at the dock. Golf cart rental on property is great too. We usually go right next door to play some pickleball too. |Staff has been very friendly and accommodating. With the property having a fresh new look, and not many people knowing about it, there isn't a whole lot of activity going on at the place, often having one of the pools to ourselves. We have 2 kids (boy and girl), so unit 2-109 is great for us since it has a second small bedroom and a full sized kitchen, plus it's own hot/cold water dispenser. |The new restaurant on property is amazing too! It is great to have such wonderful food right there on property. |I would recommend checking out Bananas on the Beach, as it is affordable, clean and quiet.

Exceptional, is word I rarely use when describing any encounter. Except in the case of Bananas on the Beach, San Pedro, Belize. From the lobby staff, housekeeping, bartender, security, maintenance. Everyone, went out of their way make certain my stay would be a memorable one. There was no insincerity or feigned behavior, they are genuinely accommodating. Couple that with a comfortable, quiet room, gorgeous location and you walk away with an exceptional experience. Don't miss it!

We had a wonderful stay at Bananas on the Beach. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff is friendly. The location is very convenient for diving excursions and a short cart ride into town.

Highest compliments to the staff and rooms and especially the service. We arrived before 3 PM and greeted by pleasant young women and advised rooms not ready yet but were directed to a great outside bar in a shaded area with a great bar tender. She had a happy and cheerful personality and made wonderful cocktails. The 3 ladies at the desk were Jewell, Lindsey and Vashlee. When the room was ready they came to get us, helped with our luggage, had things explained to us and our room was beautiful with a spectacular view. Housekeeping staff and security were great. The restaurant next door delivered breakfast and when we went to dinner we were stunned by how beautiful it was with a historical theme. Meals were outstanding and again impecable service. It was a great 4 day trip.

Nice modern hotel with fantastic staff. Right on the beach and a nice walk anywhere in town. Everyone seems to ride golf carts but walking was fine for me. All the more expensive beach resorts around it use the same beaches and access is not limited between them so you can enjoy the entire waterfront all the way up and down San Pedro.

I’ll start with the good. The staff, especially maintenance and security staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a couple of issues with the A/C and the safe which were quickly taken care of. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the names of the maintenance staff who took care of us. The room and grounds are very clean. Rooms are comfortable, comfy bed, bathroom was great. We never ate the restaurant. We spent a week there and other then signs pointing to the direction of the restaurant, we never actually saw the restaurant which I found odd. It must have been hidden somewhere. The pool bar was nice, only open until 6:00. Claudia, the bartender was a delight to talk to. She taught us a lot about the region. She was exceptional. Gail, our house keeper was friendly and did a wonderful job. Now for the bad. I paid extra for a room with a kitchen. We like to cook breakfast and it’s nice to have a kitchen in case you have a lot of leftovers or need a late night snack. Pictures showed a full kitchen, with stove/oven, microwave and fridge. The was one 1 skillet and no other items to cook with. Not a sheet pan or glass dish if you needed to heat anything in the oven. Didn’t have a pitcher to make iced tea. There wasn’t even a toaster. There was a microwave. These are basic items one would assume you’d have in a kitchen. I asked at the front desk if there was a toaster or a sauce pan I could use and they said there wasn’t. The value for this type of room was not good. There were 2 water bottles in the room when we arrived but no additional drinking water was provided. You could go to the lobby and refill bottles which we did, but it was a hassle. The main pool, while very clean was simply not inviting. It’s surround by the entrances to the rooms on 3 floors and was very shady after 2:00 or so. Since the pool was surrounded by the buildings, it was very hollow sounding. The plain concrete buildings were bland and there was tropical feel to the pool. It’s a shame since the pool was very clean and nice, but it was a space you just didn’t want to spend any time in. If you’re looking for an exceptionally clean room and nothing more, this place is fine. I won’t stay here again when I return to Belize.

I normally don't write reviews but this really merited one. The staff at Bananas are INCREDIBLY rude and unhelpful. The girls at the front desk were both unbelievably clueless and full of attitude. The concierge was useless -- she didn't even know how long it would take to walk to the ferry (for the record, it's about an 8-10 minute walk, but she insisted it would take an hour, and when we asked where the hotel was on a map - she told us a completely different location). It's one thing to not know the answer to a question, but lying to guests is ridiculous. She wouldn't give restaurant recommendation: "I don't want to recommend a bad place." Checkout and checkout took forever, I've never seen people move so slowly. The floors of the whole hotel were grimy the entire time. Monkey Joe's is advertised as having "light bites" but has no food. The smoothies were awful and the bartender was not accommodating or particularly friendly either. The restaurant on site is only open for dinner, overpriced, and also staffed by incompetents. I really have a high tolerance for bad customer service but this was over the top. Also, there is only one water station and it is in the main lobby. If you need water between 10pm and 6am - good luck! They lock it during the night. Note - this does not apply to the cleaning staff and the security guards, they were very sweet and helpful. Other pros, the beds were comfortable, the walk into town wasn't bad, and the pools were nice.
