B&B De Grote Kievit

I had the pleasure to stay at Jan and Marc's with my sister, brother-in-law and niece last August on the occasion of my daughter's wedding celebration in Meerhout. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out, I was made to feel very warmly welcomed. I arrived in a lather as I had got lost around Geel and was going to be late for my own daughter's wedding celebration! On seeing my agitated state, Jan immediately poured me a delicious glass of refreshing white wine and restored my blood pressure back to normal. This immediate attention to all our needs indeed set the tone to the rest of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for Jan and Marc.||||The buildings are a former farm house which has been exquisitely renovated in a contemporary chic style, typical of the best of present-day Belgian design. It is set in peaceful countryside and a large landscaped garden partly reminiscent of Moorish gardens of Andalucian Spain. The rooms have been equally well conceived uniting modern minimalism and traditional features of the architecture of the building. Luxury, comfort and careful attention to detail are the key features of the immaculately clean rooms. ||||Breakfast was fit for a king. Fresh local produce, served to order was set out tastefully, banquet style to feast your eyes. The particular highlight for me were the two different fruit juices I was offered. Exquisite.||||This is without doubt the best B&B I have ever stayed in. I have no other daughters for whom to organise a wedding in Belgium, but I don't need to search too hard for another reason to experience such outstanding service again. Jan and Marc's hospitality are the reason.

I had the pleasure to stay with Jan and Marc on a regular basis due to a work assignment in the area. After staying in the usual hotels I discovered De Grot Kevit and never looked back as I discovered perhaps one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed at. The location is peaceful, away from the hustle of a town and is surrounded by fields and woods and the building has been renovated to such a high standard. The rooms are superb, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is great and attention to detail is applied to everything! The guys take great pride in all aspects from the greeting when you arrive to the farewell when you leave, customer service at the highest level. A home from home.

It was by far the best accommodation I had so far. Jan's and Marc's restored ranch is simply a corner of paradise. Unique rooms, incredible breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff (Jan and Marc), attention to details. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or a quiet location for your business trip, this is the place to go to! I would advise to travel by car if choosing this B&B, but the taxi service is also a good choice or the bike, if the weather allows it. The surroundings are worth the ride.

What a fantastic place this is. Welcoming hosts and a beautiful building with lovely attention to detail, great breakfast even including eggs from their own chickens! This is a B&B not a hotel, so be ready to go to a local restaurant for dinner (hosts provided great recommendations.). Worth having your own car when staying here. Next time in Geel I will definitely stay here again and will recommend to any colleagues visiting the area. Very peaceful nights sleep.|I'm a fussy customer and have no criticisms of this place.

I stayed here as a stop off on a long journey and what a find! Jan and Marc have lovingly restored this farm to be the most beautiful and incredibly stylish place to stay. With such warm and welcoming hosts whose attention to detail is meticulous and wonderfully clean and comfortable rooms, I couldn't help but have a wonderful stay here. To top it all breakfast was home grown and organic with lots of choice and wonderful flavours - I couldn't have asked for more comfort and couldn't recommend this place enough. Thank you Jan and Marc for a wonderful stay.

Me, my boyfriend and a friend of ours have recently been at De Grote Kievit to join Groezrock festival in Meerhout. The b&b was 20 minutes far from there, surrounded by an outstanding garden and a super relaxing atmosphere. Jan and Marco made us feel like home, nourishing their place as a member of the family itself and preparing us fantastic breakfasts during our 3 days stay. The house is extremely clean and well designed, our king size bed was really big and confy, everything was perfect and if you want to relax and chill out in the middle of nowhere that's the perfect place to go!

We were greeted warmly by the owner with welcoming drink and details info about the area. The B&B is very well planned and decorated in high finishing standard. We stayed in Appel (Apple) room which is well equipped with white linen, tea, coffee at the corner and a flat screen TV.||||The highlight of the stay for us were the start of the day, the breakfasts, with such attentive and great care putting in the preparation even though we were the only guests there. We enjoyed everything about it, from the delicious organic breads, high quality cold cuts, cheese to the homemade jam and even had a treat having homemade pancakes the second day.

Prepare for a "hello" outside when you arrive. It sets the scene: very warm and supportive hosts will do their utmost to make your stay a good and relaxing one. It is a wonderful, peaceful, clean B&B with the luxury that Relais and Chateaux can match. Excellent breakfast with local products and an egg as wished. Cosy, warm people, and helping out in anything they can: De Grote Kievit is worth a special mentioning in B&B. I recommend it without reservation.
