This is the most wonderful, luxurious place to stay. We've been to Europe more than 25 times, and Christian and Kay really know how to run a guest house. The suites are large and beautifully appointed with everything you could possibly need while staying in Ghent. Plenty of closet space, refrigerator space and living space combine to make you feel as if you're in your own apartment! Breakfast is delicious, with a little surprise each morning to start your day. The location is perfect, with a great view of the castle. And, of course, the kind and helpful owners ensure you enjoy all that Ghent has to offer.

Christian and Kay have made a little slice of magic in Ghent with their B&B. From the "reception" in the common room of their apartment in the building, their warmth and welcoming words, the sedate elevator that took us to the 3rd floor, the smell of old wood, fresh river air and books, it immediately relaxed us after a long drive from the Hague. The 3rd floor apartment we took was something else as well - the view at the castle in front, the balcony that looks over the river and the church steeples in the back, chairs, sofas and beds you can immediately fall asleep in, all impecably clean... Kay told us that it is rare we can get a single night available on such short notice, but I am glad we did. Would recommend it to everyone, no matter how many times you visited Ghent!

By far, one of our favorite accommodations we have stayed in yet. It's luxurious, well-located, comfortable, etc. The sitting room is a huge plus with the views of the castle across the street. The noise levels are not bad, even with so many people below and trains passing by. It is even less in the bedroom since there is an additional door separating it from the sitting room. The decor is so beautiful and just brings the feeling of relaxation into mind! The tub is amazing and providing bath bubbles was a step beyond incredible. Some of the nicest hosts who go well above and beyond. I cannot stress enough how much extra they put into their hosting, to include daily breakfast treats made special by her. It was a bit odd at first to walk through tables where people eat, to get to the main door, but you soon don't notice it. The main house where breakfast is served is gorgeous. Location is perfect to tour the city and have convenient breaks throughout your day. Great restaurants literally steps away. Definitely want to come back!!

We were fortunate enough to book 'The Lodge' - a 3 story 2 bedroom house from medieval times. Directly facing the Gravensteijn Castle and above a Belgium Waffle & Pancake business. (ooh the smells 😊)||The place is incredible, and very authentic with all mod-cons available. The owners have taken great care in preserving the original features and added some useful modern touches. ||I will let the pictures speak for themselves.||Highly Recommended.

We had such a lovely time staying at De Waterzooi B&B over the weekend. The hosts, Christian and Kay, are so welcoming, and the breakfast was perfect (we were obsessed with Kay’s homemade yoghurt!). It is in the perfect location for exploring Gent, with a view looking directly over the castle. The room itself was beautifully decorated and very spacious, with a sitting area ideal for relaxing, a comfy bedroom and great sized bathroom. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Gent and would recommend it to anyone planning a visit!

Christian and Kay are hands down the best innkeepers we have ever stayed with! The front door was a bit tricky to find as it was hidden in the middle of a restaurant seating (we walked by it several times.) But once we were inside we didn't want to leave. |The whole building is absolutely beautiful and you cannot beat the location literally steps from the Gravensteen Castle. So glad we got the 1st floor suite as our legs were so tired after walking all day long. But it was the little touches too that set them apart. There was a small fridge with water and drinks for us during our stay which was appreciated as it was unseasonably warm. We were so tired one morning and slept in so Kay left a tray of breakfast outside our door for us. And she cared so much about a baby pigeon that had built a nest outside our window and kept checking on it (along with us) during our stay.|Wonderful comfy bed, relaxing living room, all the amenities and the best breakfast with homemade yogurt, fresh juices and pastries every day. She does not let you go hungry.|Overall we recommend De Waterzooi to anyone who visits Ghent and can't wait to return. |

This place was an utterly stunning find and great value for money. We booked the lodge which was an entire apartment (2 bed) which was a renovated 16th century house, modern kitchen but original wooden floor, casement windows. Unbelievably gorgeous inside. Owners were super helpful and friendly and gave us great tips for places to visit. The nearby cathedral has a VR tour which is worth doing and the castle opposite is also great. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, a chocolate store next door which also does breakfast. There is a tram stop opposite that takes you straight to the train station.

Far far exceeded our expectations. By far the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Location was perfect for walking around Ghent. Room itself was far better than we had imagined from the photographs. Excellent size, and had everything you could need. Very very comfy bed and great shower. Hosts were absolutely incredible, very friendly and helpful and have absolutely perfected their B&B. We would recommend staying here and would definitely stay again ourselves!
