My husband and I adored our stay at B&B Dimore Delle Donnole. Gretta and her husband were absolutely delightful. The breakfasts were abundant and tasty. And our suite - a grand bedroom, large sitting room, basically two room bathroom, and balcony were spotless and could not have been better. The views from our suite and from the breakfast area were glorious. We enjoyed the 30 minute walk to and from old Bergamo and found it to be easy and beautiful. We were only at this B&B for three nights and wish it would have been longer. Our time there was a complete joy.

We stumbled on this beautiful property while researching our long-planned trip to Northern Italy during COVID. Gretta and her husband were extraordinary hosts, and we fell in love with them and their home instantaneously. We stayed only one night and wished we could have stayed for weeks! The property is a stunning farmhouse built around 1500 high on a hill overlooking the lower town of Bergamo. It is quiet and private. Intimidating to drive to given the narrow road (for an American!), but worth it. The couple has spent infinite hours painstakingly restoring this property. Our suite was enormous--unimaginable for Italy, with a huge bedroom, sitting room, and gigantic bath with two separate room--all clad in Carrara marble. The doors in the house are 600 years old and Gretta's husband has built much of the rest of the furniture. I cannot say enough about Gretta and her husband--we could have talked to them for hours. They are charming, warm, welcoming, and made the stay magical. Breakfast was outstanding, sitting under cover on their terrace overlooking the hill. It will make you weep with joy. We were literally enchanted by the whole experience, and plan to return without question for a longer stay. If you are ever in Bergamo, this property and the hosts will make you lose your heart!

An absolutely lovely location and even lovelier hosts! Accommodated as much as they could for us, and made a brilliant effort to speak English, as we spoke poor Italian (we’re trying). Completely recommend for a quiet getaway - only a 15 min walk into old Bergamo and 45 to the new centre, with scenic views throughout. Wonderful breakfast and room - thank you to Greta, Alessandro and the kids!

An absolute delight to stay here! Greta is an amazing host. The place is clean, and the rooms are well equipped and extremely comfortable. Bergamo upper is just a short 15 minute walk. Highly recommended stay in Bergamo!

My husband and I stayed at Dimora delle Donnole a week ago and had the most amazing time! Greta and her husband and three delightful sons invited us into their home as if we were old friends; hospitable, warm, friendly, and so helpful with suggestions for what to do and see, where to dine. In the very best way possible, we both felt pampered while at the same time feeling truly as if we were a part of the family! The home has been beautifully and faithfully restored by Greta's husband and was an architectural wonder, gorgeous details and design, breathtaking views from the many mammoth windows and a lovely garden behind the stone wall that separates their property from the narrow winding road that leads into the old city of Bergamo. A perfect place to end our two week adventure in France and Italy! Thank you Greta and family for the experience!!

Even now, with Corona protocols, it was enchanting and unforgettable to stay in this 16 th Century residence, recently renovated in style.|Less is more, the luxury comes from the walls, the doors, the very high ceilings, the fireplaces, the floors: not full of “decorations” but just let the original elementa to speak. Meanwhile, very comfortable: dark and still because of the traditional wooden window closing; the room was en-suite with a pink marble bathroom (toiletteries included) and a living/sitting area. Good bed.|The only improvement I would suggest is the pillows, they could be softer/smaller/less full. |One needs to be able of driving uphill on quite a narrow street (like all locals do). Parking is safe inside the gates. A great garden with trees and an incredible panoramic view. At 15’ peaceful, green walk from The Old City up the hill.|Excellent restaurants at 10’ walk.|The healthy and big breakfast was very good, with a lot of variety. I announced them on time that we are vegetarian amd gluten free and yet we had a great choice ! Also Many fresh fruits, also from the garden (blueberries) and real Italian espresso.|We will definitely come back to this B&B and to Bergamo.|The turistic city area is well maintained, clean and worthing a second visit.

We had an amazing 48 hours at B&B Dimora Delle Donnole. Excellent location, amazing hosts, and the suite was perfect for my family of five. When we are back in Bergamo, we will stay again! Thank you Greta and family.

My husband and I stayed here last week and I honestly had one of the best experiences at this place. It is located above Citta Alta - 20 mins stroll from there in beautiful nature. I felt like I had a country holiday and city break all rolled into one. We walked into the citta for culture and restaurants and then in the mornings walked in the forest and climbed up to the castle. The place itself is spotless, an old beautifully converted farmhouse exquisitely decorated with a homely feel. The breakfast is delicious and Greta, Sandro and their boys were welcoming and extremely accommodating. Thank you all so much for an unforgettable stay
