B&B la Giara

The La Giara is situated a 10 minute stroll from the centre of Nicolosi and its range of eateries, bars and restaurants. Our well-furnished room was clean and comfortable with a balcony that allowed views of the sea in one direction and Etna in the other. The TV for somewhat temperamental for no apparent reason! A simple, yet adequate buffet breakfast consisted of fruits, croissants, juice and coffee. The host was friendly and efficient, without being intrusive . Off-street parking is available although you need to be confident on the width of your car on exit into a one-way street.

B & B La Giara has comfortable, clean rooms (stylistically, stuck in the 1970s, but so what?) and a friendly and helpful English-speaking owner. The owner's aunt also helps out - she is a lovely lady, very friendly, with some English. There is safe off-street parking and the situation of the property is very good: Nicolosi is much nearer to Mount Etna than is Catania, where many people stay before climbing the volcano. The B & B is also within easy walking distance of two pizzerias and a traditional Sicilian restaurant. Our stay was very good value for money, too.

The location per se is very nice, a bit vintage, the position is not far from the town center and close also to the main attraction of the area which is the Volcano Etna. There is no really a parking place for the customers since the staff and other people are using the back yard to park their own vehicles, if the house is full of guests practically is impossible to find a place for the car. There was a bit noise in the morning due to guests leaving early. The breakfast room a bit crowded, and very few or none soap and shampoo in the bathroom. Those aspects need to improve. The good points are the nice decorated and clean room, the terrace and the good breakfast serving typical produce.

Staff is friendly and very accommodating. We needed a 7 am breakfast on both days and were served the full complement of items. We stayed two nights in a compact room with a very spacious terrace overlooking the town and further to Catania. Great deal!

We spent 2 weeks in B & B La Giara in Porto Empedocle and could not believe our luck. The owners were helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was spacious, as was the en suite, which was mostly marble. From the large comfortable bed to the stylish pictures, sofa, safe, storage furniture and balcony looking down to the sea, we were comfortable and relaxed.

Nice place close to the center of the small town Nicolosi. Easy to access by car and offers parking behind their closed gates. ||Nice, light and spacious rooms. ||Owner is very friendly and helped us plan our trip. She offered a fantastic breakfast and was all in all a very good host.||Internet was fast and in general we left feeling that we had a nice stay.

The B&B is very well located : 25-min by car from Etna, about 10 min walking from the center of Nicolosi. The house is cosy, clean and has a family atmosphere.||The breakfast was like a buffet with so many choice of food (typical Italian food).||We just would like to make a remark about the bed's comfort : a bit creaking and not pleasant to sleep in.

Excellent - comfortable, convenient, friendly people and great breakfast! It's a good base to get to Etna - you can get the 9.15 bus from the town square to Refugio Sapienza, then the cable car to about 3000m.
