We were going to a concert at the Musical Theatre and this BnB is ideally located for there but also for Central Basel which is a 20 min walk or 5 mins by tram. Rooms and service were excellent. Would stay again

La Vie en Rose is a decent accommodation if you are looking for a place to stay in Basel. Very Central location, only a ten minute bus ride from the main train station and about 30min from airport. The river Rhein is just up the road and there are lots of lovely coffee places (Cafe Fruehling for example, amazing coffee, great outdoor seating) and restaurants (Zum Goldenen Fass) in the area. The place itself was very clean, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was shared with shower only, no bathtub. The interior is very ‘creative’, each room with a different colour scheme. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful and check in is quick and easy. All in all a very recommendable B&B and a great alternative to the otherwise ridiculously overpriced hotels in Basel.

B&B La vie en rose is situated in a quiet street by the rhine river. Only 10 minutes walk to the old town! It's rooms are very bright and colourful, Christoph was very friendly and welcoming. The travel card was a nice treat. Even the shared bathroom/toilet wasn't too much of a problem for me as I was only in Basel for one night, plus I happened to be the only guest on the ground floor - so I had the bathroom all to myself. Will definitely visit again soon. Thanks Christoph.||||Jabu (Scotland - UK)

We have stayed at this colourful B&B with different rooms who are all decorated with their own colour theme. Very romantic, colourful and artistic. The owners of the B&B, Christoph and Monique are "connaisseurs d' art" and they can give you a lot of info on art but also on the history of the city and the country.||Monique and Christophe are lovely people whith whom you can have very good conversation about almost everything: politics, art, philosophy, social trends etcetera.||This makes a trip to Basel a wonderful experience.

Friendly, personable and intimate, with just a couple of gorgeously decorated rooms in different colors. It's got a very creative atmosphere and everything is very clean, the bed was comfy and the prices reasonable. It's super quiet and yet close to everything, too. So, good vibes all around. Will definitely be back.

This B&B is located on a quiet street only a block and a half from the tram line. Each room in this house has it's own unique color scheme. We stayed in the pink room on the 1st floor. The window looked out over the street where we could watch people coming and going on foot or on bikes. The pink room featured a comfortable double bed with two gigantic pillows and a duvet, a wardrobe with pink fuzzy accents and pink coat hangers. There were two mismatched pink chairs and a desk. Two bedside tables with lamps and a small table just big enough to support a fuzzy pink lamp and my power converter used to charge electronic devices. There was only one European style electric outlet available in the room. Don't let the old world charm fool you, Christoph has 5G wi-fi for guests.||Airflow was an issue, but not impossible to manage. Keeping our guest room door open, opening the back door and our front window allowed a nice breeze through to cool the rooms down. Our window was an old style double-acting window, but I could never get it to tilt in. The windows have no insect screens, but there were no insects to speak of either. There is also a euro-style, rolling metal shutter on the front window which provided some room darkening and privacy.||We only met co-owner Christoph, but he's a very nice guy and a great source of information when needing directions, suggestions or other information.||During our stay, we were the only guests staying on the 1st floor so a shared bathroom was not an issue. Each morning Christoph rode his bike to a store and purchased food. We opted to have our breakfast outside on a small terrace in front of the house (see photo). Breakfast consisted of an assortment of breads with butter or three delicious types of preserves, cheese, various yogurts, cereals, coffee and orange juice. It made a light, but satisfying breakfast. There is also a small secluded area behind the house and a kitchen which could host a similar breakfast. ||We felt very much at home there and all-in-all it was a charming place to stay in Basel.

A very nice little B&B in a good location. VERY brightly painted, we had the blue room on the first floor, where there was a small kitchen for residents use. Breakfast was cooked in front of us by the owner, who was a very friendly chap. Bikes store outside in the garden - locked and sheltered, but not inside. No compliants - a great B&B - happy to recommend.
