Amato Brugge, Bruges, Belgium - Explore & Book

"Bruges is a medieval maze of small streets, pedestrian-only cut-throughs and architectural delights, ringed by water. Much of it is the same today as it was back then, and Amato Brugge is one of those ancient delights still standing proud, a home-from-home in a building that was once the Sint Niklaas hospital, dating back as far as the 14th century. Now its 3 bedrooms offer some of the finest views of Bruges’ famous bell tower, along with warm and friendly hospitality from the owners, Stijn and Kristoff. Stay here for the location in the heart of Bruges, and for the guesthouse's chic style, intimate setting and warm welcome. The owners, who have a restaurant background and speak good English, are happy to chat over afternoon cake and chocolates, or to help you plan your day over a homemade breakfast in their new dining room. It's a great space to hole up after a long day admiring architecture and negotiating cobbled streets, and a wonderfully romantic bolthole for long weekends in beautiful Bruges. Highs Bruges itself - a delightful Unesco city, woven through by canals and cobbled streets The guesthouse's fantastic central location on a quiet street beside the Markt Square, and close to restaurants Spacious rooms, offering good value for money in Belgium The Belfort Room is a knockout with exceptional views and a private sauna, so book this if it's free Some of Bruges' best eateries are on your doorstep Lows Don't expect in-room gadgets or full-time reception - this is a typical guesthouse offering It's an old house with steep stairs and no lift You’ll have to pay to park if you drive here Over 16s only - a high for some! We haven't visited since the recent refurbs so our review may be missing some details" - Laura Dixon

We stayed here last week in May, were so impressed with the location, property and the hospitality of Stijn and Kristof (and Gucci the dog). We stayed in the Oval Room which has been renovated to the highest standard with understated 5 star elegance. Absolute perfection!||My husband had a health emergency and Stijn was so supportive and helpful and luckily the room was free for us to stay another night for him to rest once we got back from the hospital.||Highly recommend staying here to anyone for location and the accommodation, if we ever come back to Brugge we will be back and we will refer all friends and family travelling to Brugge to stay at Amato - Brugge 🙂

We stayed here for 4 nights and what a great location! Just off the square and easy walking distance to everywhere! Stijn and Kristof were awesome hosts. The air conditioning was out when we got there with temps in the mid 80’s but Kristof found us a fan and the temps dropped over the next several days. Very close to restaurants and a small store to stock up on items. Gucci was the most heart warming welcome dog and always greeted us with a wag. Room was on an alley way and had the greatest view of the Belfry and could hear the bells in the morning. Highly recommend 😘

Such an incredible place to stay. Our room was a delight - clean, cosy but also roomy. The vegan breakfast one of the best we’ve had. The location couldn’t have been better - a quiet spot but very central and easy to pop back to for a quick rest or drop things off. And the hosting was amazing, making a great time in Bruges exceptional. And the Gucci, the dog, was the icing on the cake. We’re already talking about our next stay there.

What a delightful experience. The owners have only started this year (2024) but have a great concept with plans to upgrade and increase the offering already. Our room was very comfortable with plenty of space and, quirkily, over two floors. The host was very welcoming and they have really thought through the nice-to-have additional touches that set them apart from many B&Bs. Very central, as well.

Exceeded my expectations. Amato-Brugge is located 1 block from the historic square in Brugge, in the middle of the beautiful medieval old town. Stegn and Kristoph went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. My room is charming and comfortable, amenities are great, and they have the best dog - Gucci!

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Amato-Bruges was the best B&B I have ever stayed. From the view, comfortable bed, clawfoot tub, to the perfect location, I highly recommend staying here while in Bruges. Stijn, your hospitality was off-the-charts! Meeting you was one of the highlights of my trip. I look forward to returning next year and seeing the renovations. Please give a hug to adorable Gucci for me!

A beautiful property with exceptional service for an incredible value. The location also could not be better, and the hosts were so kind and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely come back and stay here the next time we are in Bruges!

My wife and I stayed at Sint Niklass for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Julie took great care of us, not only with her excellent breakfasts, but with her advice and suggestions. We stayed in the spacious oval room. The king size bed was comfortable. The bathroom has a tub and a walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. The room's large windows brighten the room with a fine view of the nearby bell tower. || The building itself is only two blocks from the market square, but is located on a small street with no through traffic, so it is very quiet. If you arrive by car Julie can direct you to a nearby public parking garage charging about 9 euros per 24 hours. You can get everywhere you want in Bruges by foot, so you won't need your car unless you're planning to take a side trip.|| Breakfast is a great mix of baked goods, meats, cheeses and made to order eggs. You'll have plenty of energy to start your day. Bruges is a wonderful city and staying at the Sint Nik made our visit even better.|| Thanks Julie,||Jack and Gina||Arizona
