B&B Tre Metri Sopra il Cielo

A lovely b&b on the famous ceramic stairs of Caltagirone. The terrace where breakfast is served overlooks the city, and is really a stunning setting. Gaetano and his wife are extremely kind and helpful, and their breakfasts are full of yummy options. The room was comfortable, location perfect. Would definitely recommend!

This B&B in the city center with fantastic view, stylish and sparkling clean. The room was specious, with high quality towels and robes and supplied free toiletries. There was welcome package in the room with coofee, snack and fresh fruits. Gaetano was a fantastic host with warm welcome. The breakfast crowned our stay.It was absolutely fresh, rich with savoury and sweet choice as well. The price was well worth the value. We would return at any time.

Tre Metri Sopra Il Cielo is an apt name for this extraordinary B&B. It is located three-quarters of the way (about 100 steps) up the famous tile-decorated staircase that Caltagirone is known for. Don’t worry, cars can be parked nearby at almost that level, so no climbing necessary. The room was excellent, clean and comfortable, tastefully decorated with antiques. The windows opened onto a breathtaking view of the rooftops of the city. The host speaks enough English (and French) so communicating is no problem if you don’t speak Italian. His dinner suggestion, Il Locandiere, was excellent. Finally, it’s hard to beat the breakfast, tasty and bounteous, served on a rooftop patio overlooking the city.

We went to Caltagirone to climb the staircase, so I looked to find a place to stay that was nearby. To our amazement, we were right ON the staircase at this B&B. The balcony of our room looked over the staircase and the window had an amazing view over the city. The room was charming & very clean and the bed very comfortable. The owner picked us up at the train station and gave a tour of the top sights of the city on the way back to the B&B. It was nice because it gave us an idea of where we wanted to spend more time in the morning before we headed out for our next stop. He also gave us a map and suggested a place nearby for dinner. Breakfast was typical Italian - some meat, cheese, yogurt, fruit and LOTS of pastries. WiFi had no Internet connection & did not work while we were there.

First of all Caltagirone is very very nice from many aspects. Our trip was one night and we stayed here. Balcony of the room was on the famous stairs and other side had a full caltagirone view window. Besides all these nice things, the owner of the place was super kind and understanding person. He welcomed us and gave a very informative speech about the area at the beautiful rooftop where u have breakfast with freshly baked tarts and good coffee. Place has couple of rooms so its very comfortable and private. We had early morning shuttle to airport. The owner gave a lift for free and he was very very kind i must say again. He advices us a fish restaurant near the hotel which i dont remember the name (maybe locanda) one of the best dinners i had by the appetizerse menu. Everybody will enjoy their stay here for sure.

Mr Gaetano is full of historical information, learned and up to date with current Caltagirone news. Room we had was with a fantastic view from window and balcony. Shower room small but big enough. Breakfast was traditionally great: cheese, salumi, cornetti and all the cakes imaginable. Recommendable 9.5 on 10.

Tano is an excellent host and we had a very warm welcome at the B&B when he explained all ins and outs of Caltagirone. The rooms are overlooking the scala Santa Maria del Monte and breakfast is served on the roof overlooking the city. Really, really recommended!
