We spent two nights at Bandholm in mid-August 2024. Was it bad? No, just completely underwhelming. One thing Bandholm does very well is take seductive photos and videos of the hotel and surroundings. They are very selective in what they show you, e.g. they don't show you the small harbour and silos that are the main view from the hotel's terrace. The silos did have their own beauty at night, I'll admit.||The beach is sort of a little strip of sand right opposite the hotel (and next to the harbour) and right next to the local road. Don't believe for a moment what you see in the promo video - there is no wide beach, there is no pier, no beach chairs. The hotel does not supply beach towels. However, the beach is shallow and no rocks so excellent for kids.||They talk up their "wilderness" spa. Well, I didn't see it operate but I took a look inside and it was not appealing. It is basically a barrel with a bench on either side. And the hot tubs, or whatever they call them, were similarly tired looking. Besides, they were right next to the terrace so you'd have to trek between people having drinks as you enter/exit. Not sure how that is "wilderness". However, none of the "spa" facilities seem to have been working in a while. There was a similarly dated tiki-bar and 2 palm covered parasols - in Denmark? Why? It didn't matter, the bar was not in use. The other parasols carried ads for Coca-Cola - a bit downmarket perhaps? We could not have breakfast or any other meal on the terrace despite the excellent weather.||We were not informed that only the brasserie was open during our stay. The food was fine but nothing more. Wine list - at least by the glass - barely serviceable and they ran out of our choice. Let's pass by the bar in silence.... Breakfast was not buffet - you got what you were served. Great "hyben" jam! But, a little plate with one thin slice of cheese half covered by two thin slices of some kind of sandwich meat - really?||Rooms were ok but not what one would expect at that level. But would it kill them to put a mosquito screen on the window so guests can get some air (since hotel asks that windows not be opened to avoid flying insects inside).||Let me finish here. It was not terrible but given what it cost and their aspirations of being the best, it should have been a LOT better.
