Locking gazes with an apex predator in Karnataka’s tiger reserves - SilverKris

"A forest lodge that serves as a practical stop for safari guests — noted here for a quick breakfast break during a multi‑reserve itinerary — and operates under the broader Jungle Lodges network that offers package options including meals and scheduled jungle safaris." - Charukesi Ramadurai

Our recent stay at JLR, Bandipur was truly unforgettable, especially the incredible wildlife safaris. Initially, we booked the Viceroy room for 2 adults and 1 child, despite being a family of four (2 adults, 2 children). We were pleasantly surprised and highly relieved when the staff not only accommodated our extra child in the room but also went the extra mile to arrange for all four of us to join the Jeep Safari, even though it was initially pre-booked based on our online reservation. This flexibility was incredibly appreciated. A huge shout-out to all the Jeep drivers and naturalists! Their dedication and passion for wildlife are evident. They are constantly connected, sharing sightings, and went above and beyond to ensure we saw animals. We experienced this firsthand during the evening safari when they drove for 20 minutes to give us a glimpse of a tiger. The morning safari was even better – we were incredibly lucky to spot not one, but two tigers, with one coming remarkably close to our jeep! It was absolutely paisa vasool ! The food (lunch, dinner, and breakfast) was consistently delicious, offering a wonderful native touch. The only minor critique would be the fish fry, which was a bit too oily. Our Viceroy room was spacious and comfortably accommodated all four of us. The washrooms throughout the property were impeccably maintained. All staff members were exceptionally helpful and courteous, without expecting tips. I must commend JLR for their outstanding planning and maintenance of the property. Their transparent and hassle-free safari booking system, unlike the common challenges faced in other reserves, is truly commendable and should be a benchmark for all tiger reserves in India. Highly recommend JLR for an immersive and well-managed wildlife experience!

Perfect place to enjoy the nature and breathe pure air free from pollutants and cleanse your mental health. 1. Absolutely amazed by the rooms, bathroom, cleanliness etc. You have to visit to experience it and see for yourself. 2. Food was unexpectedly so good. No complaints on it and no there are varieties of dishes to satisfy the foodies. 3. Safari ride was magical and it is a must for wildlife lovers. Animal sightings are on luck but we were fortunate to experience some good sightings along with Leopard. 4. Service is also superb and the staffs are extremely professional making the hospitality top notch. 5. They have limited alcohol options enough for people intending to party :) 6. The overall area is too good for the stay and clicking some good photos with the nature. Must experience it once if you’re located in Bangalore. For others if you’re planning for the stay go for it without thinking.

Many people review it positively. But my experience was different. I am really disappointed with my stay at JLR resort, Bandipur. I booked through the link provided by the customer agent by paying Rs 70,000 ( 4 pax) for two nights. Before booking, I have asked them the room allotment for 4 of us. He told me that if the number of passengers is 3, one room with extra bed will be alloted and if 4, two double rooms will be provided. When we checked in, they have provided us only one room with 4 beds! When asked at the reception counter, they said they can not do anything as everything is done from the HQ. They said not more than 3 people can be booked in a double room. But, the link provided me has the provision to add more than 3 people and that is how I added 4 guests ( I noticed I could have added more). I wonder what they could have done if I added 5 or 6 people! Two of us have stayed more than 20 times in this resort and they were adamant to allot 2 rooms for us or reduce the amount. The room has only one fan far away from the bed and I could not sleep well in that two nights due to hot and humid climate. We had to struggle to get ready for the morning safari at 05:30 as there was only one washroom attached. I tried to contact more than 10 times (8040554055), but always the linecwas busy. I left voice messages and pressed 2 for a call back, but even after 4 days, noone has bothers to respond to my called and messages. ||||On the second safari, after sitting on the vehicle, one of the staff members asked us to change our seats to back side as there are 4 ladies joining and they need to sit in front. Though we could refuse, our decency forced us to follow the request. When safari started, we were surprised that only two people ( and only one lady) have joined us. What was the need to ask us to change the seat when there were only 6 people in that vehicle? We have paid the same amount as others and hence it was injustice on JLR's part to do so. ||||There is no kettle or tea making kit in the room which are usually found even in two-star hotels nowadays. The room is not done and linens and towels are not changed every day. The food is good though many items are repeated. The support staff were courteous and caring. The safari experience was good and the driver was cooperative . Overall, as a traveller who have travelled more than 35 countries and all the states in India and a Club Mahindra member, I feel the JLR Bandipur resort is not worth for the money we paid ( 17,500 for two nights). I have heard good things about this resort and others may have better experience than ours. The admin department has to be more efficient and considerate to the guests arriving there with expectations.

Best part of this lodge is good food, good rooms. It's located in nice place, easy to identify in main road. package includes two safari ride. Each safari ride is for 3hrs which was good if you are lucky you will spot animals. parking is good. service is good. cook here cooks really well, both veg n nonveg. only concern was mosquito in dinning hall.

Staff service and behaviour is excellent. However, it would be great if 3-4 female staff are included as the families visiting would feel much more comfortable and safer. Rooms need more maintenance as the building is old, we stayed in #1. Food quality and quantity are served properly. Safari is purely based on your luck on that day. One major issue is please do not keep or serve alcohol in the dining area as it would discourage us to come with the whole family and kids. The stay already has a separate bar counter and whoever wishes can drink there, no issues. Overall 4 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐ Felt bit pricing only based on the room condition, rest all is great.

Wow! What an experience. Bandipur safari lodges is the perfect place if you are looking for an excellent safari experience. We stayed one night and were treated to two fantastic safaris. We saw 2 leopards, many elephants in particular babies and a tiger hunting deer as well as many buffalo, wild boar and a couple of mongoose. The driver was local, extremely knowledgeable and also actively caring and concerned for the ecosystem. The lodges were clean and bathrooms had nice hot showers. The food was excellent with multiple tastey vegv and non veg options and the addition of the monkeys being around at dinner was a massive bonus for our kids. If you are looking to do safari from Bangalore/ Mysore and want the best chance to see animals this is the place!!!

A nice but overrated place. The room is comfortable and large, but for this price range, one can only expect better, in our opinion, with many shortcomings. The food was too good (but not innovative either). But the biggest problem was the so-called naturalist guides on safari. As I'm also a naturalist guide, I know how important it is to be at the service of 'clients', showing them what they want to see and communicating with them. On several occasions, we drove along the roads at very high speed in search of tigers (which we didn't see) with the final feeling that we hadn't seen many animals because each time it was the people in the jeep who had to shout to stop. What's more, other tourists (also naturalists) gave us more information about the wildlife than the so-called guide who spent his time talking to the driver.

Location is adjacent to a busy road and doesn't give the feel of a Jungle Lodge. Rooms are neat and tidy. Service is excellent!!! Staff are courteous. Management needs to ensure that there are no LIZARDS in the room!! Feels very creepy!!!
