Came into town for a weekend, ate here twice. Always love the clam chowder! The crab cocktail was delish 🤤

The fried oysters are prepped from a frozen pre-breaded oysters and are not good. Chat GPT led me here, people there say the calamari is good.

We went to the fish market on New Year's Day. They were very busy and it was a beautiful sunny day. We ordered the halibut fish and chips and the portions were huge. We wished we had ordered one and split it. We loved the batter on the fish and the chips were very good. Of course there were cranberries in the coleslaw which we loved. It took a while for the food to get done but they're cooking it to order and like I said they're very busy. They worked really hard to get people's attention to come and get their food even if you were sitting outside while you were waiting. This is a really fun place to be and we will go back when we go through this town again.

Small restaurant along the bay. Most items are breaded with highly limited availability of gluten-free options. I had the shrimp basket with fries and coleslaw with a side order of clam chowder. I got so many shrimp and fries that I had to take the clam chowder in a to go. To say my meal was served hot would be an understatement. There are no public restrooms at the restaurant. However, there's one available close by. I have to say that this was the first time that I had cran-raisens in my coleslaw, but it was good.

We were blown away by the personalized service we received while dining at the Bandon Fish Market. The lady behind the cash register was just sweet as pie. It was my husband and I and our three kids. She brought out oyster crackers to curb their appetite until the food arrived. When the table of four opened up. She cleaned it immediately and offered it up to us so we can sit together as a family. Not too mention the seafood was so fresh and fried to perfection. Thank you all for such an amazing dining experience while in the Bandon area. 10/10 would recommend dining with them. We will return if ever back in the area ❤️

Google
Some of the best fish n chips I've had outside of the UK, if not the best. And the salmon chowder is to die for, got incredibly lucky and got the last bowl of the day. Might come back tomorrow for more.... Highly recommend!!!

No MSG No Garlic Foodie

Google
The first time we noticed this place, it was half an hour to closing time, and the outside smelled of fish & chips grease and the inside looked packed. So, we did not even try to go in. We we able to get in two days later and I was prepared to have smelly clothing afterwards. But it didn't smell bad inside. We both ordered Rockfish fish and chips – I skipped the garlic bread, my partner was able to get toast with plain butter. The chowder was very delicious, full of clams (and not jut potatoes). The fish and chips we clean tasting, seasoned with salt and pepper, no scary garlic or MSG. The order desk person was efficient, patient and polite. It was one of the best dinner experience I had in the Oregon Coast. I could easily get addicted to the food at this place. Not a fan of all the plastic utensils used here though.

Great, fresh seafood! Wonderful building.

Yelp
I've never been to the Oregon coast so when we decided to make a day trip of walking around the town and through the Cranberry Festival, we had to eat. This place looked pretty good with outdoor and indoor seating. Note: seats were taken but there are park benches on the pier. I wasn't hungry so I had a fish taco (cod) with the lime crema sauce. Good portion for a fish taco and the fish was good.

Yelp
Really great food, we even used to be able to buy a coffee can full of Dungeness crab back in the day... Sandwiches are $20+ these days but we still splurge once in a while... Did I mention that their chowder is second to none?

Yelp
45 min!!!! I waited 45 minutes for a bowl of clam chowder to go and finally got up and asked for my money back and left. Which they could not even get that correct. I intentionally ordered the clam chowder thinking it would be fast. In November. Not even a summer busy season. I could've caught the Clams and made it from scratch in the amount of time I stood waiting. A better idea, how about let your customers know it's going to be that long of a wait so I'm not asking my entire party to wait an hour for me so I could grab a "quick bite." Rude, incompetent establishment.

Yelp
Great service. - friendly & family like - also loved the location The view is awesome! They gave me a shit ton of cheese curds. I got salmon fish and chips and the fish tasted old. I wish they had better tartar sauce. Next time im gonna try cod .....

Lacey W.

Yelp
I crave the crab sandwich at least once a week. it's sooo tasty, especially the sauce on the sandwich. the service is hit or miss, but nothing too horrible to go on about. usually take our food to go as the seating fills up quick!

Yelp
We were unfortunately quite disappointed with our lunch last weekend. We ordered a halibut and a cod (& chips). The counter service was friendly, but service was very slow. We waited over 30 minutes for our name to be called. The fish looked pleasing, but there was no flavor. Shockingly little flavor if I'm being honest. And it wasn't one fish or the other...we each tried both types but neither one had any taste, almost like the batter hadn't been spiced at all. I ended up saturating mine in vinegar first and then tartar. (My hubby desperately resorted to dipping his in ketchup.) The cod meat was moist, but the more pricey halibut was somewhat dried out. The fries were good though, as was the toast. As for seating, minimal inside tables, more outside and along the pier. We've had so many good and great fish & chips along the coast, but unfortunately this lunch won't be on that list. We chose this place due to numerous good reviews, so I'm assuming it was just an off day?

Yelp
If you want a grab and go to take down to the pier, this is a 5 star selection. They package your food with utensils inside ready to go. For inside eating, I would have preferred a plate. That's a minor criticism, however. The food is great and the staff is pleasant and fast. The cod fish and chips meal is a lot of fish and could be shared by two. The breading is perfect and the fries are slightly battered and fried to perfection. The cole slaw lacked a dressing so it just tasted like raw cabbage. I'd opt for a different side next time. My friends loved the sandwiches and can see from the pictures that they give you a nice-sized helping. I would 100% eat here again and highly recommend you eat here and enjoy beautiful downtown Bandon!

Yelp
Wow, fantastic experience! Outstanding food: my wife is a fish taco aficionado, and she says these are the best she's ever had, moist and flavorful. I had the chowder and a salmon sandwich; the chowder was good, the sandwich was excellent, both the bread and the fish were great. Service was very prompt. Very much enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, it's a small place but we had enough space, great views, plenty of light. Highly recommend. We'll be back!

Yelp
Update at 45 minutes now. Waiting. Ok , it the end result, it was an hour. One of the locals waiting said it was normal. This is a spot where you and others are claiming a table or bench outside but your partner won't deliver the meals for an hour. By then our beers were warm and people asked if you are going to eat or what. The tables and seats are all unclean concrete that you have to just overlook No one wipes up the old ketchup. U get the image. The owner Mike B reads our Yelp. So I suggest a better organized kitchen. Maybe more equipment. From order to service an hour is silly. And the girl could have warned us. At 45.00 per couple, he needs to step up. Power wash all the tables and benches That would be 7 plus the bench. Buy a power wash machine and do it like you own it Mike. That said, the shrimp and cod and chips were very good. And I finally found a good cole slaw. It could be so charming.

Yelp
We had the traditional Chowder, calamaris and cod fish and chips. Everything was really good. It took awhile but we knew it would it be that way since they seemed busy. Sadly, the girl in the cashier is rude. She snaps at every single customer. Don't you there ask her a question about the menu. She's not the right person to be the face of the restaurant. Yelp
It's been almost 16 years since my 1st visit to Bandon Fish Market. It was my favorite fish & chips place for several years. I moved away and only visit Bandon 2-3 times a year. We headed to the coast today to enjoy the sunny warmth at Sunset Bay. Feeling nostalgic for Bandon, we drove there for an early supper...on my first visit this year (2024). I was REALLY disappointed. The prices had gone up and the portions had shrunk...to 3 small pieces/chunks of cod & a tiny cup of coleslaw. While the fish & fries were still tasty, the coleslaw was rather bland. The dressing did nothing for it and the slaw tasted old. I find it hard to blame inflation for the small portions & poor taste. I consider this my last time eating there.

Yelp
Let's start by saying that I don't really like fish. This was really good! My wife and I shared fish and chips and some fish tacos. She really liked the tacos. The fish was crisp in the outside batter was light fish was moist. I would surely go back. The line to Oder was long but moved quickly seating is very limited. The wait for food is a little long 25-30 minutes, but it's cooked to order just get in line before your too hungry.

Melissa B.

Yelp
These were by far the BEST fish and chips I have ever had! We got the halibut fish and chips and they were amazing! The best ever!!! Tartar sauce was on point and the coleslaw was top notch as well! We also had to get some clam Chowder and it was sooo sooo good! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Kimie B.

Yelp
The wait was worth eating the tasty cod fish and chips from Bandon Fish Market. They have a variety of fish that you can order for your fish and chips. I normally have halibut fish and chips, but went with the cod. It was a the best cod fish and chips I have ever had. It was tender and tasty. I had leftovers and heated them in my air fryer and they were just as good. I also had the clam chowder which was very good as well.

Yelp
Locals know. I stop in occasionally for takeout when the line isn't long:) Everything is good Fried to crispy perfection Try the halibut or the lingcod In the heart of Oldtown

Yelp
Order at the counter. Staff is very friendly. Food was very good. We had clam chowder and fish and chips. We would recommend and we would come again. Small eating area, but was just right for three of us. It is casual and on the waterfront.
google avatar

Yelp
What a hidden gem in Bandon! This had to be my favorite spot when visiting. Walking inside and you smell comfort in the air. The staff was amazing and helpful. We ordered the lil Matey with cod and subbed the clam chowder for smoked salmon chowder. This meal was a good size for two people. Everything was super fresh. The cod was flakey and was delicious with the tartar sauce. But the star was the Smoked Salmon Chowder. Smokey, creamy and that flavor from the salmon just piled on more and more flavor. One of the best chowders I've eaten. Definitely will be back when visiting Bandon!!!

Yelp
In July I raved about this place as being my favorite for Fish and chips. I took a friend there it was mediocre compared to the past. Today I took the same friend. The rockfish was overdone, so much my friend thought he was eating chicken instead of fish. It wasn't just the food. Customer service was awful. We had to clean our own table plus the couple setting next to us had to clean their table as the girl at the front cash register was playing on her phone. She was rude not just to us. Everyone in there. It's gone down hill, you really need to invest in quality help.

C B.

Yelp
I stood in line for a while, understandable because it's a busy place. But during that time I was watching the employees prepping food and was pretty grossed out. One guy wore a really dirty looking hoodie and scratched his chest before touching beer and condiment containers then handed them to customers. Another guy rubbed the bottom of his nose with his finger, then touched all the condiment cups. Then he adjusted his greasy ball cap and immediately grabbed a toasted bun and started adding the condiments. All this with bare hands and no washing. I found out then they were out of halibut which was what I wanted so I left. I was eager to eat there so it's a bummer their food handling was subpar.

Hillary F.

Yelp
They put a cream cheese spread on the sandwiches here, which is a great idea. I actually wish there had been a little more, as the combo sandwich was definitely fresh but was a little lacking flavor. French fries were good and the cranberry coleslaw was awesome. There is seating inside and outside - neither area is the cleanest but it was still pleasant to sit outside and eat.
google avatar

Joanne T.

Yelp
Some of the best fish and chips I've had. The prawns were fresh and juicy as well. Counter service and a small dining area with a view. The bathroom is in the back of the restaurant (have to walk outside towards the dumpster).

Yelp
We thought it would be nice to grab lunch in the harbor area- it was a bit chilly so we chose this place because we could sit inside. We went on a Friday about 1:15 so the latter part of the lunch hour. They were busy and told us it might be a 15 minute wait. OK... This is an order-at-the-counter and pick-up-at-the-counter sort of place. Our order was one cod fish and chips, one medium chowder, one seafood salad, and one single serving size of a Sutter Home white wine (they offered two colors of wine - LOL). The total was $49!! We thought, well maybe this will be really good. First, the wait was more like 25 minutes. This was an issue as we had an appointment and clearly were going to have to eat quickly. Yes, they were busy, but certainly not such that there is any excuse for an order to take that long- especially in a counter-serve fast food sort of setup. We sat and waited- and it finally dawned on me that they should at least be able to serve my wife's wine. I got to the counter and asked, and she handed me the mini-bottle. I had to ask for a "glass" to put it in- which was a large soft drink wax-lined paper cup. Ugh. The food eventually came to the counter and we set about eating it. My wife liked her salad (served in a plastic to-go box- likely made ahead of time!)- it had micro shrimp and some crabmeat on it. The chowder was OK, but nothing to write home about. Clearly, the "broth" was made from a white sauce (flour and butter) and did not have any cream in it. The clams were tiny bits of chopped clams. For what it was, it tasted "OK" but it was really no better than Mo's which I would never order by choice. But the gag-me-with-a-spoon part came with my fish and chips. a) I asked if there were any substitutions for the fries and the answer was no. So they were going to go to waste no matter what. They serve the fries that are rolled in potato flour and the texture and doneness were normal. b) The breaded cod was inedible! The cod pieces were about the size and shape of sea scallops. The breading was thick and doughy, forming a "jacket" around the cod (see picture). After one taste I then tried peeling the breading off (I LOVE breaded seafood BYW) and just eat the cod. It was dry and stringy to the point of being difficult to chew. The second photo shows how much "food" I left behind- and I HATE wasting food. Bottom line- never again. Terrible service, food served only in to-go containers with plastic utensils, and $49 for a lunch. For us, $49 is a nice dinner with drinks at a Thai restaurant here in Eugene. Deeply disappointed.

Yelp
Needed someplace to stop for lunch while heading down the coast. Stopped here and it did not disappoint. It's a very small place but we were able to get a table. Ordered fish and chips and they actually have choices on what kind of fish you want. Also order the small clam chowder. Everything was made fresh. The fries were hot. The fish was 6 large size nuggets. They were so hot we had to wait for them to cool down. The soup was thick and creamy and very hot. Would have liked to try the clam strips were we were already full. My husband and I shared and we were full!!! If you're in the area, you won't go wrong stopping here!!!!
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
Bandon Fish Market has the best fish and chips. My favorite is the halibut fish and chips and my husband loves the fried prawns. The clam chowder is also the best we have ever had.
google avatar

Arvind M.

Yelp
Excellent fish and chips. I wish I could have tried other dishes. There was no wait as it was off the usual lunch hour

Kathy B.

Yelp
We ate here for lunch. Most of the fish comes from Alaska not local. Husband had two fish tacos which were huge. He brought one home for dinner. We got fried calamari to share. It was tasty and quite a lot and not very expensive. I had their clam chowder. I didn't notice many clams in it. Bought sides of coleslaw for $1 each. Tiny cups of it. We had a table but it's a crowded small place.
google avatar

Lenay C.

Yelp
The staff were very friendly and accommodating- if I were just rating them, it would be 5 stars. Unfortunately, I also take the food into account and this influenced my rating greatly. The fish and chips were just too greasy to the point they became soggy; there was no crunch to either the chips or the fish. I really wanted to like the chowder but it just fell a little flat, the seasoning and ingredients could have been better. The staff are really carrying the majority of positive here.

Andrea D.

Yelp
It was okay... the cod fish and chips were cooked perfectly, but were so bland. There was no flavor and the girl with pink hair working seemed quite disinterested in being there. She was sending snaps to all her friends of herself vaping. She had to ask me my name multiple times simply because she couldn't be bothered to pay attention to me. I kind of wish I had tried one of the other places.
google avatar

Frank B.

Yelp
Portions where good flavor was grate definitely will be back . Highly recommend if you're caught around the area .
google avatar

Zack W.

Yelp
Ordered the cod fish and chips. After tax was about $18. Bit pricey but it was very fresh and had good flavor. No fishy taste. Food did take a while to come out but it was clear they made it to order. Fries were hot and fresh as well. Had a conversation with two other customers about the laughable portion of coleslaw they give you. The cashier was friendly and the inside was clean. Cool spot right on the water.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
We had the best Miso Black Cod over Rice and Halibut Ceviche here. There are picnic tables out front where you can eat.

Eric K.

Yelp
Sorry about the long wait today (sat, may 25) we where down a fryer for a little From: an employee
google avatar

Corina F.

Yelp
Parking is on a public wharf. The line at lunch was quite long. It's order at the counter and then they call you name inside or outside. Place is packed so we are hoping the food is delicious. It seems like a lot of people know the drill so they must come here often . Food was abundant and delicious the order of fried clams was so huge even sharing them we couldn't finish
google avatar

Vanessa K.

Yelp
What a perfect fish shack should be!! We've been eating fish & chips all along our coastal drive from Calif to Seattle, and this one was definitely one of our favorites! The cod is perfectly cooked, the batter crispy but light, and the fries were excellent too! We also tried the crab sandwich and was shocked by how it was packed full of crab! The sandwich was pretty simple and not overly dressed so you can really taste the sweetness and freshness of the crab. The order also came with a cup of yummy clam chowder! Definitely a very good deal. They also have a great selection of drinks and alcoholic beverages. There's some indoor tables but plenty of outdoor seating. We would definitely visit again when in Bandon!

Tammy W.

Yelp
Fantastic fish and chips and clam chowder. The wait was over an hour after we waited in line to order. Then they ran out of smoked salmon chowder.
google avatar

Kendra G.

Yelp
Delish!!! Great fish & chips and the chowder was even better! Fun location & hope to come back!
google avatar

Tammie R.

Yelp
The halibut fish and chips were amazing and so was their clam chowder! Loved the dried cranberries in their cole slaw, too. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Richard A.

Yelp
Great seafood at Bandon Fish Market!! I ate here a couple of times over the course of a few days, don't judge me, I was on vacation and it was that good. The clam chowder was top notch, very good. I had it each time. The large prawns were delicious!! The breading was perfect. The Halibut was very good and the calamari wasn't bad either. They pay attention to their "chips" and they are good. The added choice of coleslaw or garlic Texas toast is a nice touch, the garlic toast is pretty amazing. This eatery definitely gets crowded and yes the food can take a minute or two to arrive, but don't worry......good things come to those who wait and it will come in a white box!
google avatar

Rumen D.

Yelp
Though your order can take a while, the generous portions, flavor profile and price all but make up for it. It's an over the counter establishment with limited seating, but with ample options on the dock and boardwalk. The atmosphere is children friendly. Several adult beverages are available including Alaskan Brewing, Deschutes, Two Towns, Ninkasi and many more. I highly recommend this establishment if you're on a budget or not in any particular rush.

Lucas S.

Yelp
There's great food but awful service, learn to hire someone who's gonna welcome guests
google avatar

Hugh M.

Yelp
Read the reviews and decided to stop and have Fish & Chips. Good prices overall. I had the regular cod and my wife had the Ling Cod. Plenty of fish with your order. The Ling Cod seemed a little flakier then the regular cod but both were tasty. The fries were good but a little oily for my taste. Still good though and a fair amount served. You get a choice of Cole slaw (very small size and not very tasty) or a piece of Garlic Toast. Go for the Garlic Toast in my opinion

Cassie M.

Yelp
Was not prepared for an hour long wait considering this was a "to-go" establishment. When the food finally did come, it was okay but not worth the price. The calamari was over cooked, but the fish taco was pretty good. There is also limited seating for the amount of people who were there.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Ordered the New England clam chowder bowl, crab sandwich and a side order of oysters. Very cozy seating with only six tables inside and four outside. 16 beers ( cans or bottles), I ordered the Pelican Brewing Tsunami stout. Pretty good taste with slight post bite. Crab sandwich was good but needs thousand island dressing for some tangibles!
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Great fish and chips, not cheap but you get a generous portion which makes it worth it. Seafood chowder is good. Don't go when you're really hungry because the wait is long. I'd come back

Ethan Solar K.

Yelp
So many mistakes added to the hour long wait. The calamari was obviously overcooked but by the time it got to us they were ice cold. The chowder, normally our favorite was Bland. Not worth it this trip. Usually is.
google avatar

Tawny V.

Yelp
Out of this world amazing fish and chips! It's fresh, hot, tasty and unique!! When I say unique it doesn't look like other fish and chips from other places. Thankfully the day we arrived there was no line. Early bird gets the worm! Also, the service was impeccable! The view from the pier is beautiful.

Shawn A.

Yelp
I stopped by just before closing one evening and they kindly fixed my last minute request for fried scallops and fried oysters to go. So Delicious!
google avatar

Taj T.

Yelp
Food takes about 30 minutes to come out on busy days because this place is POPPING. Rightfully so - that Smoked Salmon Chowder is the only salmon chowder I've had on the coast, and it's easily one of the best chowders on the coast PERIOD. If the bread bowl had just been properly toasted, it would've been perfect. I was seriously considering eating a second one because it was SO good. The Halibut is amazing. I've never had fish that's so..."meat-like". This fish wasn't flaky, it had a sinewy texture to it and that was awesome. The fish wasn't heavily fried or dripping with grease, nor was it coated in a crazy amount of batter. The fresh fish did all the talking! In fact, the batter on everything - fries, calamari, clams - was well seasoned but not overwhelming. So many seafood places use lots of batter to compensate for little seafood, but not the Bandon Fish Market. Honest food at great prices: my new favorite spot for food on a beach trip!

Yelp
This is a small place on the old town road near the public pier. It's a decent place to grab some seafood. They serve beer...and if I recall correctly, wine. The inside dining area is very small. There is additional seating outside. The food was good and they had some decent bottled beer. Nothing special though...and it's very expensive for what you get.
