Lovely rooms, nice mountain views from the balcony, great location in Banff. The hot tub, cold tub, steam room and sauna were my favourite. Our booking included breakfast which was a bit of a letdown, as the breakfast restaurant was downstairs in a tight basement corner, even though the hotel had a lovely cafe at street level. Would have much preferred it was at that cafe and included cappuccinos. Apart from that, very comfortable stay.

Google
Great location, good proximity to shops, attractions, and shuttles to other attractions. There was ample parking for our car as well. We had good service, nice rooms, and the breakfast was great. We loved our server Joel, very kind and accommodating.

Hotel was very pleasant and a great place to stay if you want to walk or bike around downtown banff without worrying about parking. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly to all guest. they’re there for all your needs. room was very big and spacious and a very nice view from our room’s balcony. breakfast was very good but wished they change their breakfast menu everyday and wished their breakfast lounge was a little bigger to accommodate all the guest without waiting for a table

My husband and I stay at this hotel every time we visit Banff, and it never disappoints. The location is perfect — right in the heart of town, within walking distance of everything. The front desk staff are always warm and welcoming, which makes check-in feel personal and easy. There’s a lovely café downstairs that serves great coffee and fresh pastries — a perfect start to the day. The rooms themselves are simple but very clean, cozy, and well maintained. The beds are especially comfortable, which we really appreciate after long days of exploring. One of our favorite features is the outdoor hot pools — they’re always clean and relaxing, no matter the season. We also love using the hotel’s saunas, which are a great bonus after a cold day outside. Breakfast is included in the room rate, which is a nice touch. It’s not the most varied, but it’s convenient and gets the job done. Overall, the atmosphere at this hotel is genuinely pleasant and welcoming — it’s a place we always look forward to returning to.

We had a room on the second floor that had a balcony with view towards the mountain which was amazing! they had an excellent daily breakfast and was very conveniently located within Banff town so we could easily walk around. Would definitely stay there again 10/10 experience.

I booked this hotel because we needed a larger room for 3 people. It is AMAZING. The rooms have the finest appointments (bedding, towels, a Nespresso machine). There was a front and back door—so easy to take our dogs out. AND, the courtyard spa is absolutely luxurious right down to the fireplace. You can walk anywhere in Banff from here. And I think the parking was included. The breakfast is so-so (my only half hearted negative). All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. I will 100% stay here again!

We stayed at the hotel as part of a package holiday booked by our tour operator. The location of the hotel was excellent as its only a 5 min walk from the town centre. The room was clean but a bit smaller than we expected. We were on the ground floor with a view to the middle of the hotel. It was only for 2 nights so we never asked to be moved or upgraded. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was ok, it was a buffet style. The staff in the restaurant were nice and friendly. There is a coffee shop in the hotel at the reception. My only gripe was that we were unable to use the breakfast coupon on the 2nd day as we were leaving for the Train which included breakfast and I asked for our tokens to be passed onto the next guest who found they had to pay for it as an act of kindness but my request was refused. That aside, I would go back to the hotel if back in the area.

Google
I had an amazing stay at this place during my recent visit to Banff. It's in a very central part of Banff, with one of the bus stops being only a block away and the hotel being right on Banff Avenue. I noticed there were a lot of reviews complaining about the parking space here, but I think that problem has been resolved; it's definitely not the biggest parking space I've seen among other hotels in Banff, but I didn't have trouble finding parking at all when I drove in around 4PM on a very busy weekend. I booked a premium 1 Queen bedroom, and I thought it was a really good size. I believe the couch in the living room has a pullout bed, so this room could accommodate up to four people (I can't speak to how comfortable the pullout bed would be, however). I did find the layout of the room to be questionable; the bedroom is right next to the entrance, followed by the washroom area, and then the living room area. Because the bedroom space was quite small, it was a bit uncomfortable getting in through the entrance. I think a more logical layout would have been to make the bedroom space closer to the side facing out to the Banff Avenue. Also, there were some staples sticking out of the carpet near the tiled floor in the washroom area; I was lucky they didn't manage to break through my skin when I stepped on one. I did really like the balcony attached to the room, which had an unobstructed view of the mountains. Also, I found the bed to be comfortable, but the loud ventilation noise did interfere with my sleep quality. The amenities in the hotel were much better thought out. I liked that they had a laundry machine and a dryer and also that they had laundry detergent ready for purchase at the front desk; it would have been nice if there was more than one washer and the dryer, but I did manage to use it. I really appreciated the outdoor space area with the hot tub, dry sauna and steam sauna. I spent hours reading while enjoying the hot tub. It was a very relaxing experience, and a great way to kill time while doing the laundry. The staff at the hotel was very pleasant; I came by to ask a lot of questions, and they were always available to help and very helpful in general. I also appreciated the breakfast that was included with my stay; I felt they had a decent spread (eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt, granola, fruits, etc) and everything tasted fine. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, largely due to the nice amenities and amazing staff. The bedroom was good, but it had a few areas of improvement, such as the layout and the loud ventilation noise that stayed throughout the night. Staples sticking out of the carpet is obviously a safety issue so I hope they will address this as soon as possible. With that said, I would not mind coming back and staying at this hotel again.

Yelp
Great wellness focused spot in downtown Banff. Great location and the amenities (hot tub, sauna, and eucalyptus steam room) is a game changer after a long day outdoors. We stayed in a 1 King bedroom with a balcony that looks over downtown / Main Street and it was perfect. Great location and staff was friendly. Would stay here again.

Yelp
If you look at any of my hotel reviews I look at what I get for the money. This hotel is on the main strip of downtown Banff. With that being said you know it's going to be expensive. I spent 2800 dollars for a 6 night stay. So the good first. One, the cleanliness of this hotel. This hotel has obviously been around for awhile, but it was super clean. There was always employees cleaning and making repairs to things like door seals and chips in tile. It kept this place looking new. second, the hotel manger is another bright spot of this hotel. He is probably the nicest, hard working, and personable hotel employees I have ever seen. He runs the place very well and I stand's hospitality in many different cultures. The room was small but the bed was a sleep number mattress that was extremely comfortable. The room had a mini fridge. And the shower, while cramped, was quite nice. The cleaning crew came by daily for fresh sheets and towels. Three, the breakfast was good with many different verities of food to choose from. Finally, the hot tube and sauna were both awesome. Nothing beats a nice hot tube after a hard day of hiking!!! The bad, the lobby. If the hotel manager does read this you need to do something about the congestion in the lobby. It's annoying for guest to have to fight a crowed for non guest just to check in. Second, for the money there needs to be valet and bellhop. I don't know why nice hotels did away with bellhops, but especially here there should be a person to get your bags and show you to your room especially for the price we paid. Finally, they committed the ultimate hotel sin, charging me 100 dollars up front for incidentals. People reading this we need to put our foot down about this practice or more hotels will start doing this. It's a scam and we need to stop this practice now before it gets out of control.

Yelp
Pros: Great location in downtown Banff Easily walkable to shops, dining Enjoyed breakfast offering Staff is friendly and courteous Clean rooms - loved the 2 separate sinks and beds set up jack and kill style. We each had our own TV. Rooms have a safe, which is nice Great views from balcony There are hot tubs if you want a soak Coffee shop near front desk Cons: The sauna wasn't working during our stay :( Pro tip: Grab breakfast to go and sit on their outdoor patio.

Yelp
I recently stayed here for a few nights. It is an average hotel overall and I probably wouldn't stay again personally however, I will outline my experience. Check in was really great, quick, efficient. Finding my room was a bit of a challenge. I had to go down a hall, around a corner, outside through a door that did not open automatically in any way. My hands were full and it was difficult to navigate. I had to put everything down on the floor in order to get out the door. My room was in an outdoor corridor which I found quite odd but it was unique. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was absolutely freezing. The floor was ice cold and the bathroom was so small with 0 counter space. It was a bit noisy throughout the night and early in the morning. Some random person was knocking on my door at 7am which was super annoying while I was trying to sleep. I had the "do not disturb" sign on my door handle. When I had to check out I had to navigate the small hall again having to pull open the exterior door in order to get inside. I have no idea why the door would not have an automatic open feature. It is definitely not accessible for those who are mobility challenged. The included breakfast was a nice feature. There was a decent selection of cereals, breads, as well as eggs (no bacon), and potatoes, yogurt, cheese, etc. There is also free parking in a small lot beneath the hotel and outside the back of the hotel as well.

Yelp
Exactly as advertised. Location was a short 5 minute walk to downtown . Lobby was clean and open with a coffee shop and outdoor patio seating. Staff was cheerful and accommodating. Room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
I really liked the lodge. It was located in a nice convenient area. There are grocery store, many restaurants and souvenir shops in a walk distance. The place was clean and modern. The bag breakfast was good. There was a nice coffee shop inside the lodge. I hope I can stay there again.

Yelp
Not a great experience so far! We checked in yesterday night. The room has no AC, had to sleep in hot weather, and it was no where mentioned in website or anywhere else that hotel's all rooms' AC are not working. This is definitely a bummer, as hard to fall asleep in hot weather. No microwave in the room, asked for microwave, got a response to come down every time to use common microwave.

Yelp
2 seperate stays here within the same week due to a 2 day trip to Jasper. This was a really nice hotel. Doesn't look like much outside, but the amenities and actual room is really nice, especially at this price (~$150/night). They also have complimentary breakfast, which is a plus. Granted it's the same breakfast every morning, but has many hot food items (scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage) as well as toast, fruit, oatmeal and many other options. The outdoor jacuzzis were really nice. Especially since its centrally located in the middle of the hotel. Water was clean, and well maintained. There's also a nice wet and dry sauna. The changing room is clean and warm. The room itself was really nice. It's a large area. Bathroom is huge too. Unfortunately the sink is outside of the bathroom, but a small inconvenience. Beds are firm and comfortable. No funky smells, or stains which is great. Small fridge and a keurig machine are the amenities included in the room. Each room had an outside deck with some chairs. Where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of downtown Banff. Tv channels though are limited. Lots of news channels but I do wish there was more sports channels. That would've been nice. But what really made this a 4 star hotel is their customer service. People working the front were so friendly!! Extremely helpful as well. All the staff members were good, from house keeping, to front desk, to the maintenance crew. Also when we came back for our 2nd stay, they left a welcome back note, and that was just so thoughtful of them. Had no problems with parking. There's also a lot of parking available on the streets surrounding the hotel. I would love to stay here again if and when I come back to Banff.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights. Located right on Banff Avenue and easy walking distance to downtown makes this hotel location very convenient. The only downside I see is that they have a strange, tiny parking lot with very few spots given the size of their hotel. As you enter the lot, they have covered parking stalls along the right, but the entire left side of the lot seems reserved for large tour busses to park. ROOMS Hotel itself seems modern and has some nice amenities like an indoor pool, recess lighting in rooms, and a smart TV. Wifi is decent. Beds and pillow comfortable. Reasonably quiet location despite hearing the train at times. BREAKFAST We got free breakfast vouchers for both days! Its located on the lower level and was surprisingly very food quality with great service. Sausages that were not greasy, yogurt with granola topping that seems home-made, and really bold and smooth coffee.

Yelp
This is not a good choice. Parking in garage and opened hatch which then hit the ceiling pipes and dented and scratched my hatch door. Hotel refused to compensate anything claiming 'user error'. Rooms smelled. Hot tub area totally torn up, a construction zone mess. So many other comparable hotels in same area, same price, don't use this one. Very funky all the way around. ps this is the only yelp review I have left anywhere in 10 years.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but very impressive! However, I agree that the price is quite steep. I get that it's the mountains and all the rooms are expensive, but it doesn't really compare with other ~$300 rooms in the area (Keep in mind, this was over the Thanksgiving long weekend, so prices were inflated everywhere). The staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The location is great. Right on Banff Ave, but closer to the entrance to the town, so it's not quite as noisy as some others. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was tasty! The biggest selling point for this hotel though is the outdoor hot tub right next to the fireplace. It's a little surreal to sit there. The only thing that would make it better would be if there was a view of the mountains, but the way it's set up makes it so you're pretty protected from the elements. We only stayed one night, but it was lovely. It does have a coffee shop in the lobby, but no restaurant attached, which is unfortunate. The breakfast is down in the basement in the "breakfast room".

Yelp
This hotel was easy to get to and within a 10 minute walk from the Greyhound station. We stayed on the second floor and had to go to through a door to outside to get to our room. The keys didn't work the first time so I went downstairs and all was good when she swiped them again. We were pleased with the room layout. There was a bed when you first walk in and then 2 sinks on your way to the other bed and balcony. The toilet and tub were just off by the sinks. This is great for 2 people as it feels they each have their own room with bed and TV. I was hoping for a better view as I asked on the reservation form but it was still decent of Banff Ave and mountains. It was a little noisy in the night when trying to sleep from the hum of the fridge (although they offer to unplug it if guests want), voices from neighbouring rooms, and the train. It can get a little warm and there's no AC as the controls are for heat. You can open the balcony door but the noise level will increase so that was the only complaint. The breakfast is lovely. We enjoyed the complimentary coffee/tea/juice, the granola was amazing, and oatmeal and fruit were all good. But the highlight of this hotel, are the hot tubs. We used the smaller one that had the fireplace but couldn't figure out how to turn on the jets. There was a person in the larger tub and he came over to ask us if we wanted the jets turned on as the control was by his tub. It would have been nice to have the control by our tub. But relaxing and warm water, loved it! It's not private as many guests would walk by to get to their rooms. There's also a sauna by the tubs. Location is great and everything was within walking distance. Friendly staff and would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
A-OK. Rooms were large. Balcony's are very roomy and nice. The hotel itself is old and decor is outdated compared to the other hotels we stayed in. If you're booking because of the outdoor pool/hot tub. They are very small and not very clean. The pictures look better than the reality. Be aware of that. Pretty much the only reason we booked this hotel. They do not have a bar inside - only the little coffee bar adjacent. The amenities are very bare at this hotel. If you are just looking to rest your head for the night - it is AOK. If you are looking to make it a romantic getaway or full blown experience it is just mediocre in comparison to some other resorts.

Yelp
If I had to describe this hotel in one word, it would be small. Banff Aspen Lodge is located towards the beginning, less busier part of the town. The staff was friendly and the lobby was small, but clean. Since I was staying by myself I had asked for a queen size bed. When I first opened the door to my room I took two steps and I was already in the bathroom. I was shocked! I've never seen a room so tiny!!! I won't lie... I felt a little claustrophobic for a moment. I turned my body left and I almost fell going down the little ramp that was placed there instead of a step. I guess it was done for the luggage, but still... I'm just glad I didn't injure myself! Other than that, the bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet. Normally I would give this place 3 stars, especially because it was almost $300 a night, but the location was great!!! So many shops within walking distance and you can't beat the beauty of the mountains that surrounds you.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here on our anniversary, and the experience was nothing short of disappointing, possibly the worst hotel experience I've had. The property was commensurate with the price and website description, nothing fancy, but adequate for budget vacation in Banff. The room was clean and neat, and there was a complimentary breakfast buffet, although I would not recommend it. The trouble started when, on the night of our anniversary, the toilet and bathtub began to overflow. To our surprise, the night manager's response was to bring me a bucket with a plunger. No further explanation was offered. After I unsuccessfully attempted to plunge my own toilet, the manager finally agreed to call a plumber. He didn't arrive until the early hours of the morning, and the manager never offered to switch rooms for us. When questioned by my wife why she (the manager) didn't plunge our toilet for us, or call for the plumber right away, she said that she didn't know how and calling at night would have made it an emergency. To us, this did represent an emergency, as we were unable to use the bathroom in our own hotel room. In the morning, frustrated, my wife insisted that we be given a new room for the remainder of our stay, mainly so we could shower and use the restroom before leaving. The front desk agreed to do so, but they made sure to tell us that we had to check out of the new room in exactly thirty minutes to avoid late checkout charges. This seemed unreasonable to us, but we attempted to comply, quickly showering and checking out. Upon arriving back home, I realized that I had left a computer cable in the room. We called the hotel and asked if they would mail it back to us, and they demanded for 50 dollars to do so. We appealed to them for free, or partially sharing, shipping costs based on our terrible experience. The manager, more concerned with showcasing her business acumen then serving the customer, explained to us in very smug and condescending terms that she would be unable to recover her losses if she did that. I never received the cable back. Overall, the experience was terrible, and I would not return under any circumstance.

Yelp
Nice rooms. Comfortable beds. Quiet with nice porch area. The only downside was that the restaurant service opened almost 15 minutes late, which forced us to rush our meal since we had a deadline to catch bus to the Rocky Mountaineer. We had notified the staff of our deadline (and there were about a dozen others too), but nobody seemed too concerned or informed. Nothing was awful, but nothing was stellar either.

Yelp
Beautiful, spacious and extremely clean and quiet with the bonus of the outside hot tub really enjoyed my stay here if I was to recommend one improvement it would simply be the breakfast - not much choice but still was okay!

Yelp
I loved this place for the extremely friendly front desk service, its great location, and easy parking. There are two outdoor hot tubs and the space they built around it looks great and immediately relaxes you. There's also two steam rooms, fancy! For three people, we got a room with one queen bed and two singles. My family thought this was an ingenious idea, and several rooms we walked past had the same concept (as opposed to two queen beds). Place felt clean. All the outlets were in the bathroom area, which was annoying but least there were four. I really enjoyed my stay, but must admit I didn't have very good sleep here as it was a bit warm at night (no AC) and opening the balcony door let in a lot of street noise. Also, some a-hole guest was smoking and it kept seeping into our room. Understandably, there's not much a hotel can do, short of knocking on everyone's door to find the culprit, which I did not ask them to do. Otherwise, I couldn't hear a peep from the other rooms. OH and the breakfast is FANTASTIC. The servers work extremely hard to keep the flow of people going. Food was delicious (breakfast meats and eggs! oatmeal and yogurt! fruit and toast!). They do an amazing job turning over so many guests in a relatively small space and in a short time. In short, my family absolutely loved the place for the hot tubs and the breakfasts.

Yelp
1. Easy to walk to for a good night out in Banff. 2. Clean, classy hot pools complete with a poolside gas fireplace. 3. A totally comfy bed. If you need anything more than these 3 things while you are staying in Banff, you are probably doing it wrong. That hot pool though! Aspen ups the anti on the romantic...ness of sitting in a hot tub while snowflakes fall on your head by adding a poolside fireplace. A freaking poolside, stone, gas fireplace! incredible! It doesn't do anything to keep you or the area warm out side of the pool, mind you. It is winter, remember. But sitting in a hot pool while it's snowing, drinking mystery liquid from a travel mug and watching a fire? Damn, Aspen. You sexy. I thought the room setup was a little strange. The bed is right there when you open the door, with the bathroom in the middle... You through a doorway across a tile floor midsection with the bathroom sink and through another doorway to get to the living room. It would be kind of cool if there was 2 beds as each person would get a little more privacy, almost like 2 separate bedrooms, but with a 1 bedroom option it feels a little closed off. I had just never seen this before... still a fantastic stay! Great spot to stay in town for the price!

Yelp
I'm giving 2 stars due to the fact I called and confirmed my appointment and when doing so made sure we would be in a quiet room. I was told we would be moved from street side to non street for noise levels and no where near the elevator. We would also still have mountain views they would just to be as good and we were right next to the hot tub. I was like great. Check into room no mountain not at all close to hot tube. So I call well there is nothing we can do not sure why staff told you that.... etc. so room is not quiet at all as there is a half inch gap from door to floor. So we hear every elevator dig and everyone getting on off everyone opening/closing there door, the stairwell the parking garage. Female- bring own blow dryer one in room does not get very hot. Guys- bathroom ceiling is very low so if you are tall not a lot of extra room. Light sleepers- request a room outside so your door will be soundproof and no gap. Pro- rooms looked clean and recent Reno. Coffee shop pretty much in Hotel. We did sleep on the other bed as one looked liked it had little brown speckles on the center of it. So I would not be as annoyed if I had received the room I was told I would have. It would also be nice if the door did not have that gap so we would not hear EVERYTHING !! I will try and attach the pictures taken. WiFi is not the best I'm on my own data so I can use internet. So I just keep adding as I stay here. Just got back to the room and how lovely to find our door was left open by the cleaning service.

Yelp
Free breakfast w/ stay woohoo! Room was clean and spacious, modern design. Location is at the end of downtown Banff so it is very accessible to shops and restaurants. Only downside is limited parking.

Yelp
Excellent price and value for being right in the middle of Banff. Don't let the chabby exterior fool you the rooms are very nicely renovated the free breakfast was very satisfying and the staff was overall very nice. For the price point, it's definitely a deal!

Yelp
This hotel was great. The location was nice and it was an easy walk to the heart of downtown. The hotel staff helped me with jogging paths and restaurant choices which was great. The hotel has no a/c and it was a bit hot during our stay. Some rooms have windows in the front and balcony doors in the back which allows for crosswind. I'd suggest one of those rooms in summer. The hotel first gave us a first floor room but we were worried about leaving the door open to the street at night with two small kids who could wander out so we switched to a room upstairs (which unfortunately had no crosswind). Breakfast was so-so and the staff was super vigilant about making sure you belonged there...almost a little rudely so. But all in all this was a nice place. I would stay there again!

Alice L.

Yelp
When booking our stay, we used a third party website. We booked well in advance (about 4-5wks) before our stay. Upon arrival we got a room in the corner on the first floor near the sewage system. At night, we'd be eaten alive by mosquitoes. So we asked the front desk to change rooms, we were informed that there were no other rooms on the higher floors. So instead we got one by the hot tubs,we then realized later at night that it was loud because we were close to the road. During the morning, we were excited to try their free breakfast. The photos on the website made the food look good but after having that meal my stomach didn't quite agree. The food didn't seem fresh and there were limited options. For a stay that I paid $500 for would never want to come here again. Only made the choice because of their free parking and I regret it!

Yelp
stayed here for 3 nights in jan 2013. not sure about the pricing as it was all part of our trip package but the hotel seemed to be very nice. we had a room with one queen bed and two twin beds separated by bathroom in the middle. the rooms did get stuffy through the night but balcony door usually solved the issue. there is a hot tub pool right in the middle open area with dry and wet saunas on the side. the breakfast was included in our deal and had plenty of food and varieties of food for all. they don't have ski shuttles stop at the hotel but it stops just 1min walk to a hotel next door. very nice service (they helped us printing out our boarding passes last minute) and generally very nice hotel.

Yelp
Superb. I can't praise this hotel enough. Great location, great facilities (including integrated coffee shop and hot tubs). ALL the staff are professional, super-friendly and helpful and will go the extra mile to make you feel a valued guest and make your stay the best it can be. There is a great camaraderie at the Aspen and the hot tubs are a real social event to meet other guests and share ski stories. There is a cool Eco-initiative too where you can forgo room cleaning for a $4 donation to a local charity or get a voucher for a free coffee at Whitebark. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when we come back to Banff. Sue and Carina - you are awesome. Thanks guys!

Yelp
We stayed one night there during winter and I got headache more than sleep. Very noisy at night, there were noise from the air conditioner, from roof, from neighboring rooms and even from a train passing nearby! And it was hot at night. Apart from that it has clean and classy rooms. The complementary breakfast is acceptable but you'd only have sweet options. The wifi although free is very slow. Overall it is a nice looking place but not comfortable.

Jonas C.

Yelp
Expensive and not worth the price move a bit further out if the center of town and get s much better deal. The complementary breakfast was better than most.

Yelp
Great stay. Just on the beginning of Banff ave. perfect location. Standard room with good size balcony. Hot tub was nice at night. And breakfast included is actually worth going to. I recommend a stay here.

Yelp
One nice thing I will say about the Banff Aspen Lodge is the location is great - we were able to walk to all kinds of restaurants and shops without having to worry about driving. If I had paid $150 a night for the hotel, I would probably give it a much higher rating. There was nothing bad per se about the hotel, the staff was fairly friendly and the two hottubs next to the outdoor fireplace were beautiful. However, I paid $350 for one night and was told we could not check out late as they already had one room checking out late, and only allowed one room to do this per day. This seems like a bizarre rule that I've never heard of. Overall, it was all average. There was nothing particularly special, and for the price I would expect a little more.

Yelp
Good first impression. Went to take a shower, but no hot water. Called front desk. They said wait 30 minutes, it might get hot. I suggest they invest in upgrading the system.

Yelp
Location is great. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is free but wish they had waffle maker. And need to have hot cocoa in the room for those who don't like coffee and tea. Room is comfy too.

Yelp
arrived late after dinner time so just put my bag i the room, made reservation for dinner and left. Came back to find the room was dirty with crumbs in front of the sofa and around the bathroom and sink floor. Staff apologized but no offer to clean (now it was 2230hrs) or no offer of a new room. Along with no air conditioning that is pretty pathetic. In the morning the manager said she would discuss with the GM and get back to me. 5 days later there was no reply so i pursued it further. An offer of $20 refund on a $310 room is insulting.

Yelp
We stayed at the Banff Aspen Lodge for four nights in December 2010. Our room rate was $95/night. This included parking, wifi, and continental breakfast. IT's location on Banff Ave is great, just one block from where the shops and restaurants start . The hotel has recently been remodelled and looks great, you can still tell it is an older hotel that has been spruced up ( layers of paint on door frames) but everything is clean and refreshed. The breakfast room is beautiful, but the breakfast was minimal, however, when it is included I won't complain. It filled me up enough for a day of skiing. The two outdoor hot tubs were great! Large and very modern, unfortunately the fireplace beside the one tub wasn't working. But we still managed to enjoy a daily soak. The service was good and friendly. The room was simply decorated and had a small fridge and old school TV (i.e. not flat screen). The beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft, and the duvet was white...(I cannot stand hotels that still use those old scratchy stitched floral bedspreads..YUCK!) My only complaint is the the room was fairly warm, it was nice to have heated floors but you could not cool the room down at night. The only option was to open the patio door but then you got street noise and light pollution. I would definitely return at the price we paid.

Yelp
Stayed here during the Xmas holidays. Location is great. Close to shops, restaurants, and the main strip. I booked with Expedia for a rate of ~$120 a night and received an upgrade when we arrived. Instead of one queen bed, we had two! We were also located on the second floor in a room with a balcony. Layout of room was a little peculiar i.e. one bedroom with queen bed as you enter the room, followed by the washroom and closet area, then you get the second bedroom and queen bed after. Peculiarity did not bug me, it tickled me. Would be awesome for those folks planning to have more than 2 people in a room. More privacy. Hehehe. Room was nice and clean. As mentioned from other reviewers, noisy fridge so we simply unplugged it. Free buffet breakie every morning which I like. Spread is much better than a 'continental breakfast'. Besides the usual yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, muffins, bagels, and toast you also had ham, sausages, eggs, and pancakes. Not much to complain about for 'free'! I actually was impressed. Lol. Loved the outdoor hot tubs. Two of them in total, side by side. The one by the fireplace is much smaller and cozier than the other. I have noticed that not many hotels in this price range in Banff have outdoor hot tubs so this was definitely a winner! We used it multiple times and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Hotel staff was very friendly. Loved the guest lounge too with two computers for guest use, some comfy chairs, magazines, and free local apple cider. It's the small things that matter I find when travelling. Simple comforts ;-) If I go back to Banff, I'd stay here again happily, especially at that rate! :-D

Yelp
We stayed there a few weeks ago. I liked the way the room was setup with two queen beds separated by the bathroom, which gave each room more privacy. The decor was modern and sleek. Downside was the lack of air condition so we had to open the windows, but then it was noisy outside. Also, the free wifi was not working. We asked the front office but they could not fix it. The free breakfast was very minimal with fruit, toast, oatmeal and cereal.

Yelp
Great location, clean, nice room. We stayed in July and temperatures were in the 80's. We had to use the electric fan the hotel provides. Possibly contributing to the room temperature was one area of the floor from the middle of the room almost back to the bathroom which was noticeably warm through the several days we were there. This was room 234 and later I noticed that an utility room and possibly the sauna was under our room. That could explain the floor heat.

Yelp
Went down to Banff with my husband for the night and decided to stay at the Aspen Lodge. It was a poor decision we made to stay there. Most of the staff was rude and NOT welcoming, and looking back I feel as if the staff needs more training! When we entered our room the bed was poorly made and the room was absolutely freezing! Both my husband and I had a restless sleep due to the mini-refrigerator making noises all night until we had enough and unplugged it! The breakfast which was included was dry and cold! I honestly felt as if they pre-made the food the night before and served it in the morning.. I do not recommend Aspen Lodge. I personally will NOT be returning!
