Best feature: All the cabins on this property feature very large decks with spectacular views, large dining tables, and grills. The decor is a bit outdated, but the cabins have large rooms that are well equipped and clean. The grounds are very nice and the staff was extremely helpful with replenishing our towels, etc. in the middle of the week. If you're coming to appreciate nature, this is a fantastic spot. If decor and amenities are most important, it may not be the place for you. It's more of a high-end cabin experience than a modern condo. Our group thought it was fantastic!

Oh my, what a beautiful three days I had at Banff Gate Mountain Resort. I was in love with this property from the moment we checked in. Our deluxe cabin was nicely renovated and had all the comforts of home. We were there with family members (two cabins total) and cooked our meals without issues, as the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The rooms are comfortable, but the stunning views and quiet community make this place special. It's just a quick drive to the comforts and amenities of Canmore, which is nice when you run out of cooking supplies or want to do off-site activities. I loved my stay so much that I booked my cabin for October 2025! I look forward to making this a yearly tradition, whether on a solo trip or with friends and family. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who appreciates peaceful relaxation.

Great chalets about ten minutes from the heart of downtown Canmore, nestled in the mountains. Charming wooden cabins. The rooms are well-appointed. The deluxe cabins have upgraded kitchens. Ours had a spectacular mountain view. The swimming pool and jacuzzi area were okay. The only time we went to use them, both the outdoor and indoor jacuzzis were out of order. The chalet was comfortable, with a great view and a beautiful gas fireplace, but it would have been fantastic if the coffee machine had worked. In addition, some electrical work had recently been done in the cottage, and the second-floor main bedroom's ceiling light switch was not working, which was an issue as we came back from skiing at night and early in the morning. The over-light fixture did not work; we only had two small dim bedside lamps. (I had to use my phone flashlight) We informed the maintenance team. We ask every day about the progress. Each time we asked, we were told 100% it would be repaired tomorrow, but it never was. (7-night stay) What would have been a minor concern due to lack of action or communication from the management team made our stay disappointing. We spoke with some other guests who had similar disappointing issues. After that, I asked the manager to call me. He did not. There might have been an issue with repair staff being available between Christmas Day and New Year's. We did hear a rumour from another guest that the manager had been away for a few days. However, I don’t think it is acceptable for a tourist hospitality operation to make its clients feel unappreciated. A small note, an apology, or a small touch of acknowledgment would have made a world of difference.

I would recommend this resort for families that want to cook for themselves and spend some time hanging out the resort which has much to do for kids. You have to drive to get to Canmore downtown and Banff, but it’s substantially cheaper so offers great value. There’s a great hike nearby of about 10 km so that would satisfy most people for a morning stroll. And on the resort, there is a games room, pool, hot tub ,Sport court, fire pit. The cabins are a little dated, but feel comfy and as mentioned, are great value. The deck is very large and offers a wonderful view over morning, coffee or evening barbecue.

We have stayed here several times and the location and views are awesome. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The resort has lots to do and provides tons of free games and equipment. Some of the cabins have not been renovated and are showing their age but have a rustic charm. The only negatives are: 1) the cleaning and maintenance staff drive way too fast and recklessly and will sooner or later kill someone (grey minivan backwards 60km/hr down a gravel hill!), & 2) terrible tv reception (I know - who cares about tv in the Rockies!).

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Dead Man’s Flats, just a short drive from Canmore, Banff Gate Mountain Resort offers a tranquil escape with panoramic mountain views. The resort features 46 fully appointed chalets, each equipped with a kitchenette, fireplace, and private deck, providing a cozy atmosphere for guests. Accommodations The chalets are designed to offer a rustic cabin experience, with spacious interiors suitable for families and groups. While the accommodations are comfortable, some guests have noted that certain units could benefit from updates, particularly regarding furniture and appliances. Additionally, the absence of air conditioning has been mentioned, which may be a consideration during warmer months. Amenities Guests can enjoy a range of amenities, including an indoor heated pool, hot tubs, and a family clubhouse. The resort also offers a games room, fitness center, and children’s play areas, ensuring entertainment options for all ages. Hiking trails weave throughout the property, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. Location The resort’s location provides easy access to outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Its proximity to Canmore and Banff National Park makes it a convenient base for exploring the region. However, the resort’s more secluded setting offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of town life.

The cabins were rustic with a large balcony in the mountains. It was a great place to get away from the business of city and enjoy the outdoors. Great trails to walk and lots of outdoor activity and a great games room.

We were not able to get into our initial cabin assignment as we arrived so late and ended up taking someone else’s cabin assignment. Try to arrive within the hours of the front desk being open. We placed a call to the emergency line as we couldn’t get in, and they never called us back. Even after the front desk reopened. Although the cabins are obviously very old, the management did a good job of having renovated bathrooms and kitchens with modern sheets on each bed. You still get the cabin feel, without feeling like it’s been lived-in for as long as it has. My only other complaint is that all the tvs should be upgraded to bigger tvs with apps. There is no tv in the second bedroom and a tiny 32 inch tv in the master that only gets a few cable channels. The tv in the main living room does give the option to watch dvds, Netflix, Disney+, etc. Other than that, the place is wonderful and can be very romantic or kid-friendly. There is a heated indoor pool, and indoor jacuzzi and an outdoor jacuzzi. The cabins being separate really gives the feeling that you’re in your own place. We were able to use the grill on our spacious patio, and there were plenty of cooking necessities included in our full kitchen. The reception area has a ton of dvds you can rent, and in the den of the reception area are puzzles, board games, pool tables, and lots of other stuff for the kids to do. Five minutes from Canmore, an hour from the Calgary airport, and 30 minutes from Banff. Our stay was incredible and we’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
This Resort has come a long way over the Years that I have been coming here. They have made many improvements, such as the outdoor hot tub is operational, there are two large newly renovated cabins, the WiFi is noticeably better. I recommend at least coming up here for the view!

Yelp
We spent two glorious weeks in the Canadian Rockies....truly one of the most beautiful and wonderful places on earth. Our first week was spent on the British Columbia side of the mountains at Big Horn Meadows, which was nice and we enjoyed our stay there. However it wasn't Banff Gate. I guess all vacations depends on what one wants and expects. If you were a golfer then Big Horn Meadows in the scenic town of Radium Hot Springs (also one of our favorites) would be THE PLACE to stay. However, we are not golfers. We are wildlife enthusiasts. We enjoy nature and the mountains. We enjoy balconies where we can observe wildlife wander through the grounds. All of these we enjoyed at Banff Gate Mountain Resort. Because we have stayed there before we expected wooden cabins. We expected clean accommodations, but nothing fancy. Our cabin this year had a new table & chairs for dinning and the balcony was in tip-top shape. We had no complaints about our cabin, which they call a chalet. We were exceptionally pleased with the staff. We were happy with the pool, which is heated and indoors. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub on several days. We enjoyed the indoor hot tub everyday! Most days the deer came by feeding on the dandelions. We hoped for a bear on property, but that didn't happen. However, one had been removed two weeks before arrival because he became "too friendly" on the grounds and was removed by authorities 250 KM away. We went in May of this year, which is a perfect time to see wildlife and before the crowds become unbearable in Canmore/Banff!

Yelp
This is a time share resort that has fallen into bankruptcy twice since 1989 and appears that it may be there again. Our unit has no functioning screen on the walkout deck therefore, we can't open the door and let fresh mountain air in because the bugs (mostly mosquitoes) are numerous. There is a thermostat on the wall but there have been on A/C units installed because, I'm told by the desk clerk, there is no money to do so. The afternoons have been in the 80's and no A/C, the fan on doesn't even work and I'm not sure there is even a heater for winter weather. The towels are not absorbent, are very thin and unraveling around the edges. Also, we were told there would be a towel exchange on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It didn't happen on Monday as we were told and had to go get towels. They had NO wash clothes and offered hand towels. They did pick up the dirty towels and leave fresh on Wednesday as requested on Tuesday night. The staff are GREAT! They try their best and work very well given what they have to work with. I actually feel sorry for them having to face guest. Oh, the grass looks as if it hasn't been touched this year. However today, Friday, 27 June the weekend that people begin to come in for the HUGE Rodeo in Calgary, the lawn service has been here all day. The lawn is full of Dandelions and there is no real landscaping. The playground has some playground equipment but the material is all wood which could cause splinters for the children using it. This place has potential but needs an infusion of LOTS of money. If you don't mind a place a litter better than a tent, you'll be OK. BTW, I have pics that I'll upload later.
