⭐️ Disappointed & Misleading – Not Worth the Hype We booked Banff Rocky Mountain Resort hoping to spend the last day of our vacation relaxing in a luxurious setting before returning to our busy lives. The pictures on the website looked beautiful—showing updated interiors, two hot tubs (including one with a mountain view), a kids arcade, pool table, and tennis court, all of which seemed perfect for a family stay. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what was advertised. The condos were very old and worn down, with none of the charm or comfort the pictures had suggested. The moment we entered, we were hit by a strong moldy smell that triggered sneezing and discomfort throughout our stay. The heater didn’t work, the AC temperature wouldn’t adjust, and it got freezing cold at night. We had booked for 6 people, but comforters and pillows were only provided for 5. When we called at midnight, we were told to walk across six buildings to the reception to collect them ourselves. That’s not the kind of service you expect from a resort. The issues didn’t stop there: * No body wash provided * Curtains didn’t fully close * Doors and beds creaked loudly * Refrigerator was broken Despite all this, we still tried to make the best of it and looked forward to the morning. The kids were excited about the arcade and pool table, and we were hoping to relax in the mountain-view hot tub. Sadly, both the arcade and the hot tub were out of service, and the pool table wasn’t free to use either. In short, this was a deeply disappointing experience, far from what was advertised. I would not recommend this resort to anyone expecting comfort, cleanliness, or family-friendly amenities. What’s shown online is completely misleading, and the service falls well below standard.

We stayed here as part of a Cosmos tour. Room was spacious , clean and provided everything we needed (we had no problem with the beds). Staff were excellent We used the free shuttle, but also walked as there is a lovely path - takes about 25mins walk to town saw amazing wildlife on this walk and it was beautiful walking home with the sun dipping behind the mountains. It's a great location to take tours to the surrounding area

First time staying here in well over a decade. Not much has changed. We like it because of the space and kitchen. I was surprised to see there is no AC in the rooms (ours at least). I didn't recall that, but, been a long time. Overall just fine though. While dated, we aren't that picky. Room was clean. Bed pretty good. All the kitchen gadgets were newer and helpful Pool was good. Most hotel pools show their age, this one was fine. Got the room sub $200 due to Expedia tier and points. For a comfortable night (minus being too warm - yes, it was hot today, in April!), not much to complain about.

Terrible place. I do not recommend. |The location is OK, although a bit remote from the city. They have shuttles (more on that later) |This is supposedly a resort. but it has nothing of a resort. the place is old and in bad shape. the walls have not seen paint since at least 20 years. The towel rack in the bathroom was all rusty. |The 1 Bedroom we were in was extremely small. The bedroom does not have enough space for 2 nightstands and walking around the bed is challenging. this leaves absolutely no space to put suitcases. |The place is extremely noisy, we could hear everything from the neighbors above (everything...). |The outdoor swimming pool was closed for "Maintenance" for our whole stay. |When we got there, there was not even shampoo and conditioner in the room (had to request it, and we got it). |There is no room service, so don't expect you towels to be changed (had to request fresh towels). |There is a shuttle to go downtown Banff, but the schedule is so scarce (2 shuttles in the morning) and one every 90 min the rest of the day), that we had to wait for the shuttle to do 3 round trips to take all the guests that were waiting. |The only thing resembling a resort from this place is the price and the pictures they posted. Don't be fooled by the bedroom that look refurnished... they must exist but we did not see them... ||In short, don't book this place....

Google
It was by far the best hotel I've stayed in out of all the times I've visited Banff over the years. The room was huge and clean with a beautiful view of the mountain. The pool and hot tub area was clean and relaxing. It was out of the main town area which meant it was a little quieter. The drive to town was only a couple minutes long at most, so it was still very conveniently located.

Google
We used our timeshare points for one week. The area and trails are great. We had a dog friendly unit. Bedrooms and bathrooms were great. Kitchen appliances were tired. Living room furniture, 2 pieces needed to be replaced. This time we didn't use the pool or restaurant. Third year for us. Banff 10 minute drive.

Visited at Christmas time and it was close to magic! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Everything was clean, and well taken care of. The hotel suit itself was perfect, the fireplace in room was a nice touch. The restaurant on site was also fantastic. We also used the hot tub and pool, both of which were clean. The quality of this stay was well above what we paid and will absolutely come again!

My stay at the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort was truly a delight, and I left feeling thoroughly refreshed and content! From the moment I stepped into my room, I was charmed by its rustic appeal, beautifully complemented by some thoughtful modern updates. The blend created a cozy and inviting atmosphere that felt just right for a mountain getaway. I must specifically highlight the bed – while I know comfort is subjective, I personally slept incredibly well, enjoying some of the best rest I've had in a long time! One concern I had, based on some prior reviews, was the possibility of mice, but I'm thrilled to report that our room was completely free of any evidence of them. Yay! It was exceptionally clean, and it's clear the resort takes great pride in their upkeep. We also appreciated the abundance of fresh towels and the wonderful, locally handmade hand lotion – it smelled absolutely divine! The staff at the resort were consistently friendly and helpful. They even provided an excellent recommendation for a scenic walk to a nearby alpine pond, which was a fantastic suggestion and a highlight of our trip. What truly sets this resort apart, in my opinion, is its unique location nestled into the woods. It offers one of the best chances in the area to spot wildlife right outside your window, adding an extra layer of magic to the experience. A huge bonus was the complimentary shuttle service into Banff town, which was incredibly convenient. While a fantastic amenity, there were a few gaps in the pickup times that could be refined for even smoother transportation. Areas for Improvement: While my stay was overwhelmingly positive, there were a couple of minor points. Some of the furniture in the room, including the bench, could use an upgrade as it had multiple mysterious stains and appeared quite dirty. Also, the only minor drawback for me was the lack of an included breakfast, but given all the other positives, it's a small detail in an otherwise fantastic stay. I highly recommend the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort for a comfortable, charming, and memorable mountain escape!

Yelp
Don't let this picture below fool you. This is the best image that they have. At 5pm we were checking at this place and went to eat. By the time that we came back is around 8pm. It's a bad experience I have ever had before. I paid for $285 for a night so you would think it's a pretty decent place right? First thing when I walk into the door it smell like the building has been over 200 years and it have never done the renovation before. The couched is old and dirty, floor and carpet have not been clean, the bathroom have hair on the floor, the room is super small I can't even put a luggage in the room. So I decided to leave and ask the resort to refund the money. Here is what they said to me that they won't do the refund because my son used the restroom. Everyone make sure you read all of the reviews before booking it because it's exactly what everyone said about this place.

Yelp
Rocky Mountain Resort in Banff offers a mixed experience. The outdoor and indoor whirlpools are a highlight, providing a relaxing post-snowboarding retreat. The convenience of a kitchenette is appreciated. However, the dated interior and stained sheets were noticeable drawbacks, detracting from the overall comfort. The carpet appeared dirty, giving an unkempt impression. Parking availability was convenient, and it provided the basics.

Yelp
Terrible stay at this place that they call a resort. First night found a dead bug in the sheets and blood on the wall! The carpet was soaking wet, I guess from them cleaning the blood. Had to be switched in the middle of the night from a junior suite with two beds to a room that only had one bed. They also say there is daily house keeping but when we got back from a hike the room was not made up and had no clean towels to shower. Refrigerator was also broken. Had to complain to multiple different staff members to finally only be compensated for 1 night stay. This place should be called a motel and not a resort! Staff member Johana and Vlad were terrible. When we said there was a dead bug in the sheets they said that is to be expected because we're in a national park. If I wanted bugs in my bed I would be camping! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Nicki D.

Yelp
Don't let the photos online fool you! Those are not fully representative of the stay. The property and rooms are outdated and tired. Our room had a loud machine outside and the wall to the next room was paper thin - could hear their tv clearly! There's no dresser in the room and our room gave motel vibes. Not impressed! The bare comforter is flanked by two loose sheets, not even a comforter cover. The WiFi was horrible. The pool room is fine, but way outdated. The tennis courts look nice though and nice that the property is only a 5-min drive from downtown Banff. Expected nicer based on the price and photos. Nice staff at the front desk.

Dean M.

Yelp
Worn out and dirty. Desperately needs a renovation. Missing baseboards in the Wolf suite (2308). Many burnt out lights, living room lamp was falling apart. Dirty dilapidated couch. Standup shower tap didn't move far enough to give adequate hot water. Dirty worn out carpet. Pool area was worn out and dirty. The list goes on... I paid on average $352/night plus tax and the place was a dump. Not recommendable.

Yelp
I only stayed here a single night, but the accommodation was great. They had a lot of extras that I did not get a chance to try out, including a shuttle into town (which considering the parking in town, this is very handy). This is a resort that is made for long stays. My room had a small kitchenette, and that would have been very handy if I had the family with me and we were staying for multiple days. The room was great with a comfy bed and a nice bathroom.

Dean S.

Yelp
I never write reviews but If possible I would give Rocky Mountain Resort a 0/5 stars. The manager was extremely combative and rude for no reason and got into an argument with us when we confronted him about the quality of the room. He honestly acted like a child, very rude, defensive, and sarcastic. The staff was acting in a normal and professional way but how the manager Glen treated us was a horrible experience. The room was dirty and old when comparing the pictures online. The pull out couch was broken and extremely dirty w/ stains. There was no place to put our clothes (no drawers, hangers) There was no way a normal person could sleep on that pull out for more than 5 minutes w/out hurting your back. The location is outside of Banff's 'downtown area' so be prepared to taxi or rent a car to get to the main area. Overall, just a terrible experience. We ended up having to pay for one night and switching to a hotel in the Banff downtown area. (Royal Canadian lodge) which seemed like a 5 star resort compared to Rocky Mountain Resort.

Yelp
I've stayed here multiple times now, and have booked a condo for my wedding this coming October. What I love the most about the resort is that it's generally quiet and great value for what you pay. Our last visit had some rowdy kids in an upstairs unit that wouldn't stop screaming and crashing about, but other than the minor inconvenience on that front and the fact that the units are on the small side, it's always been a wonderful stay. I love the addition of a functional kitchen that makings meals while traveling far more economical.

Yelp
Booked last minute cause friends were coming and staying here but what a difference in rooms. There room on the same side as the lobby, mine on opposite side of road. My room (1601) just basic as basic can be and clearly in the same area as the staff accommodations with 30+ people mulling around outside (in April) at 10/11pm. If room above you is occupied expect to be up early cause you can hear every step. Friends room (2301) decorated way nicer. Be careful walking around because sidewalks are very icy in many sections between buildings. Parking is also a challenge if you have a large vehicle like a truck

Darlene D.

Yelp
We stayed 5 nights here to explore Banff and spend our days snowboarding all 3 ski resorts. Got 1 bedroom suite, queen and not the renovated version. We did have the downstairs room which resulted in tons of noise above at all times but we got through it. Our room was solid, nothing incredibly dirty, sparse kitchen utensils but they do have full kitchens (dishwasher, oven, decent size fridge). The queen bed for us seemed small, so get a King to have better sleep! We had breakfast in the lobby twice, my partner thought the food was okay and even got the Sunday breakfast buffet - that was good to him. I thought the breakfast was quite delicious here, I had the egg sandwich and egg Benedict's on 2 different days. We also used the vending machines for drinks and candy. This hotel was perfect for us because we did not want to spend any money on transportation. The resort provided a free shuttle everyday to downtown Banff and was always on time. The drive is only 5 mins and dropped us off at the Ptarmigan Inn. The employees here are so friendly, helpful and we did not experience anything less! Staying here and wanting to visit all the ski resorts, the Brewster Express picks everyone up from their hotel to the ski resorts and back for free and if you stay here, you will always be picked up first and dropped off first- such a win for us every time we went snowboarding. My partner also caught a wolf out here in the night walking around, that was pretty cool & the view when you walk out in front of the lobby is epic!!

Yelp
Do NOT book this place!! As me and my family entered the room the floor was dirty and the couch was filled with crumbs and the bed had stains. There was absolutely no space to put my luggage in the bedroom, there was hair on the bathroom floor and toenails! It definitely does not look like the pictures it shows. So me and my family did not feel comfortable and tried to check out of the place to get a refund, but before I left, my three year old son used the restroom. He never knew because he is only a child. So because he used the restroom they didn't let us get a refund. I am very disappointed, do not book this place!

Daniel C.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall a very clean and comfortable room. Bed was comfortable, and good shower system and TV. We were in the 1000-wing of the hotel near the back, so farther away from the main street and pretty quiet. The hotel is a about 2 miles from downtown Banff. Other nice things: * They have this free shuttle that takes you to/from downtown every hour from 11am to 11pm. We didn't use it since we rented a car and parking in Banff isn't too bad! * Their front desk folks are nice and can give you local recommendations on hikes. * Wifi is free and I found it pretty fast and reliable. * Like most of Banff, you're surrounded by mountains and greenery. * Lavender soap and Green Tea shampoo!

Lynn M.

Yelp
We were here for a wedding (which the hotel did an awesome job with). We were more than happy with our accommodation. The beds were so comfortable and the room was the perfect temperature - both sleeps of the trip!. The staff was very helpful. We wanted early check in as check in isn't until 4 and our wedding was at 3 so we needed to get ready. They were helpful and didn't know when people would check out so had us call as soon as we got to Banff and had us as a priority. Really helpful. In fact all the staff we dealt with there were great. Although we didn't use any of the amenities - they had a lot - pools, hot tub, gym.... We were happy with our stay, would stay again and would recommend.

Jon C.

Yelp
This place a bit outside the strip, not too far and definitely bikeable. I'd say it's a long walk though. The room itself was alright, one bedroom that was a bit small but useable. I found a pair of pants in the closet so I guess cleaning could be a bit better. The kitchen was well stocked with lots of pots, pans, and tools. They didnt clean the room everyday which I found odd, or at least did not making the beds everyday. The towel rod had rust on it, those need to be replaced. The pool, it was cold. I'm not sure but at another hotel there was a sign about having temperature at a specific temperature in Alberta. I have no idea if that's true but if so, this was definitely not that temperature.

Aubrey S.

Yelp
Very nicely updated room, heating and air conditioner both worked wonderfully, front desk woman was very personable. We stayed one night at a more expensive hotel right downtown and we much preferred this one. Definitely value for your money.

Danny S.

Yelp
We wanted a decently priced lodging for a family of 15 (3 rooms) with kitchnette. I looked well in advance and this was the best bang for the bucks. I have never been to Banff before and wanted to stay in Banff versus Canmore. We went June 13-19. Hotel/Location: this hotel was located right off Highway 1 and was very easy to find. It is not in downtown Banff itself but maybe a 5 min drive. It is quite outdated and could use a facelift for some of its amenities. It is advertised as a health fitness and conference center. The hotel was fairly clean. There are trash cans every where. There is a decent amount of parking and you should be able to find one fairly close to your room. The place that needs the most upkeep is their pool and fitness area. If you don't judge it for its slightly run down appearance, it has quite a bit to offer Checkin/Service: Overall, service was pretty darn good. There are always friendly people at the front willing to help. check in was pretty straight forward and went by fairly quickly. You can always ask for more soap, blankets, towels, and anything else at the front desk. They offer a free shuttle service into town, but we didn't use. Daily cleaning service was good, they even wash your dishes. Rooms/Amenities: There is free wifi that is hit or miss. At times it is pretty fast, at other times, horrendously slow. We had a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom. The 2 bedroom was upstairs. The living area is pretty small but has a nice dining table/bench. 6 people could easily fit. The kitchen is small but functional. You had everything you need to cook a simple meal. There is a coffee pot for your use. The sofa bed is a double and could accommodate 2 teens. The upstairs rooms were small but had 2 king beds. The room reminds me of a college dorm room. Nothing luxurious, just functional. Bathroom were nice and clean. Had decent shower pressure. You can always ask for more towels. Carpet was fairly worn down. There were ample plugs around the unit. Overall, nothing fancy about the room. Walls are pretty thin. Amenities: This was one of the perks about this hotel, lots of amenities for the price. The indoor pool was decent. Once again, nothing terribly fancy. Hot tubs were nice and hot. Kids enjoyed swimming every day. They are remodeling the shower rooms. Work out room is very old and outdated. There is a squat rack. No bench for bar work outs. Dumb bells are old, but goes up to 70lbs. All equipment appears from the 80s. 1 treadmill and 1 elipical. There are squash courts (kinda like racquet ball). The restaurant is decent and opens til 10:30pm. However, it appears under staff at times. There is no room service offered. There is an outdoor basketball court and tennis courts. There is also a firepit where you can buy wood. So overall, ample amenities, just could use some upgrades. But once again, I think it is a great family friendly facility located about 2 miles from downtown. YOu get quite a bit of bang for your buck, just don't expect a luxurious resort.

Trish I.

Yelp
Having found a Groupon to stay here, my boyfriend and I enjoyed 2 nights in a suite (he chose to upgrade). We had the 2 kids also and we all enjoyed every minute. The whole experience was very positive. Easy to get an early check in and late check out, relaxed hot tub rules that allowed us to stay late and enjoy a beverage. They've got squash courts and we were able to make smores for the kids on an OPEN FIRE in our perfectly sized suite. Fully equipped kitchen. you to couldn't have been better. Gym is old as hell but still got what you need. Thanks for everything Rocky Mountain Resort!

Yolanda Y.

Yelp
Great place, friendly folks working, beautiful surroundings! For the price we payed, I think it was a wonderful deal. The room had all the necessities, a fridge, and glasses, and silverware, and hangers, etc. There was also a television and a fireplace. The room could be cooler in the summer, but I imagine their focus is more on keeping the rooms warm in the winter. There are ski racks too! On the grounds there are a couple restaurants, a hot tub, a pool, and a sauna. The hotel is a little bit removed from the actual town of Banff, but there's a free shuttle to and from town, and it's a totally reasonable walk if you're the walking type. OH AND FREE WI-FI! God bless these people for providing free internet. The locally made toiletries were a nice touch!

Jeff A.

Yelp
Staff are not very attentive as far as I'm concerned, we stayed here in Sept 2022 we booked a two bedroom condo for 4 adults. The condos are not airconditioned !! It would have been nice to know this prior to booking as it was 33 degrees that Sept long weekend and it was very hot in the bedrooms making it for a uncomfortable sleep to say the least. The beds were comfortable, clean sheets and lots of pillows which was nice , however very outdated condo itself, run down and old as far as the cost goes it was $1200 for two nights which I feel was a complete rip off !!! Was it a good value for the money? Absolutely NOT!!!!! The pool and hot tubs looked disgustingly filthy and run down as well. They did have fans in the room but inadequate for the bedrooms not impressed when you pay $600 a night I feel they could do some renovations to the entire facility!! I was extremely disappointed with this so called resort. The coffee machine in the room was a complete piece of crap I had to hold the pot up to the plastic dispensing valve on the bottom where the coffee comes out because it would not dispense the coffee into the pot. They claim this is a 3 star resort ! Far from it maybe 1 star at the most. I would not recommend staying at this "resort" unless you like getting ripped off !! This place is in dire need of renovations I've stayed in a lot of resorts and this place needs a major overhaul TERRIBLE VALUE for the money you pay, front desk staff do the minimum to accommodate their guests I cannot stress enough what a complete RIP OFF !!!!! this place is I would NOT! ever recommend staying here!! I cannot believe this place has any good reviews they are probably fake ! Go somewhere else ANYWHERE ELSE! Furniture and carpets look like they are from the early 70's

Luca M.

Yelp
The Rocky Mountain Resort sits alone in the woods a few minutes drive from Banff and that provides a very quiet location away from the summer crowds. Our room didn't have a kitchen (not that we would have use it), so this meant we had to go back and forth from town for meals. It's 3/4 minutes drive or a 20 minutes walk. The only local alternative is the Alpha Bistro near the lobby which we tried for breakfast but didn't impress us at all. Rooms are large and comfortable although they definitely need some renovation (as they give you a slightly dirty feeling even though they are in fact clean). Everything is expensive in Banff, but considering all of the above this was definitely too expensive.

Henry S.

Yelp
First of all what in gods name. Second, I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. I've been out and about all day and I was feeling a good home cooked meal. I come to your resturaunt and I am offended. The lettuce and other assorted vegetables were quality. I'll give you that. But, the grilled chicken. It wasn't real. I don't believe in it. It was straight rubber. Where did you get this chicken. Please send it back because I am sick.

Amber T.

Yelp
We stayed one night in a one bedroom condo that was dirty, cramped, and uncomfortable. The sofa pull out bed was sagging and so uncomfortable. Due to kid-related issues we decided to upgrade to a 2 bedroom condo for the rest of our stay. We were much happier with this room. Apparently there are updated rooms and non-updated rooms, and there is a big difference. We were much more comfortable because the room was much bigger and significantly nicer. Biggest cons - no a/c (apparently common in Banff, but still not pleasant) and terrible wifi. Biggest pro - 2 bedroom condo at a reasonable price so that a family of 4 with young children can all go to bed at an age appropriate time without bothering others - which makes or breaks a trip with children.

Tracie R.

Yelp
It's an older hotel we had a one bedroom which is very very small. All the luggage had to sit in the living room. I would call it cozy. Went to the gym a couple of times not very clean - musty. The sewer backed up in the whole place into the ladies dressing room they had to shut off the water for a few hours till fixed. They did keep the roads plowed. It had a kitchen which was nice. Bedroom so small and very little closet space with 4 hangers. We asked for more hangers the 2nd day and still have not received them. I love Banff but hope to stay elsewhere next time.

Bethanie F.

Yelp
This place was so great, and for a decent price! The room was clean and large with all the amenities one could ask for (fireplace and large kitchen, etc.) and the outdoor hot tub was top notch. Will definitely stay here again!

Kari F.

Yelp
We really wanted to like this place. I noticed other people had a difference experience than us, so I'm wondering if our experience is because we had a pet with us. I think that maybe our stay would have been better in another room without our dog. The Negatives: We booked a 1 bedroom condo that was pet friendly. The smell was horrible when we walked in. The room was clean, but the smell was so disgusting that I had no appetite any time we were in the room. It smelled like the place had not been aired out for years and it took all the Lysol I had to cover up the smell for a few hours. We were on the first floor, and we had two different people stay above us while we were there. At first, we thought the first couple was heavy walkers (we couldn't get to sleep until 1am because they walked back and forth), but the second couple was just as loud so we came to the conclusion the floors are paper thin. I've never been more exhausted after a vacation because our sleep was so bad. Also, our room faced other people and we couldn't see the mountains, which I had been really hoping for. So instead, we watched a family with a hundred kids interact and play all day. The Positives: The staff, however, was wonderful. We didn't get to experience the restaurant or amenities because it was hot out and we couldn't leave our dog anywhere, but the little experience we did have with the staff was good. By the way, our dog got his very own bed and food dish. He did really enjoy the bed. Also, it is very close to Banff, but not too close. You can easily ride a bike there and the drive was only a few minutes. They had bike rentals available, which we would have totally done if we didn't have our dog with us. My Thoughts: My suggestion to enjoy your stay is get a room on the top floor, maybe one that is better than a 1 bedroom condo, don't bring your pet, and make sure your room faces the mountains.

Yelp
The Banff Rocky Mountain Resort is A-Ok (which is 3 stars)... but after writing the review, I realized that I'm a fan (4 stars!) Let's break it down: Service - Excellent. Sure, it's Canada, and everyone is nicer than you'd ever think possible... but the folks at the BRMR are a great international bunch that will take good care of you. Accommodations - We had a two bedroom condo. Two floors, two bathrooms, full kitchen / fridge, and a living room. It's all quite dated, and the bedrooms are VERY small. That said, if you're going hiking in the area (which is what you should be doing if you're in the Canadian Rockies), and you need to prep your own 'back country' foods in your pack... it's a perfect setup. Amenities - There's a pool, a hot tub, and a small bar/restaurant that is so-so, but does the job. Free wireless is a plus! Location - There is a plus and a minus to this. Probably a bit more on the minus side. It's good because it's close to the highway if you're going to be driving up through the mountains, but it's well outside of the town of Banff (maybe a mile?)... just far enough you wouldn't want to walk it. They do have a 'shuttle'... but honestly, who wants to take a shuttle? Not me. Thus, you can't really take advantage of the Banff nightlife unless you take a taxi / have a designated driver. C'est la vie. In all... it's A-OK, and I'm a fan. It was a great place for the four adults on the trip, and served well as "home" for the week!

Geoff B.

Yelp
We stayed here two nights in a two-floor, two-bedroom suite. The suite was pretty nice, although the bedroom door creaked, which made me anxious (since our son was sleeping in our room). There was a pretty decent weight room (with a power rack, but not many plates) that was free for guests. There are two tennis courts, but you had to pay to use them--$12 gets you an hour, two rackets, and three balls. Total joke. There is a restaurant and bar called Peppers that's open until midnight. There are squash courts in the basement of the lobby, which I imagine are priced similarly to the tennis courts. There are two hot tubs--one in and one out--both of which were not hot enough. The pool is small. Free Wifi is a plus. I'd stay here again if I was in a group and we were sharing a room--otherwise I would look for something more in town (it's a several minute drive to get into Banff).

Yelp
Great place, stayed here 3 nights and loved it. Excellent service from the (Aussie) staff, they were very quick to help with any questions that I had, whether it was extending my stay or updating my keycard. Accommodations were superb, I went with the Junior suite (?) which had a fireplace, two beds, desk / fridge, etc; Was clean, didn't smell like mold (always a plus for hotels/motels). Beautiful view of the Rockies... After staying in a couple other places, a few nights before, this place was a godsend in the sense that you didn't feel ripped off (like a particular hostel we stayed at last moment). It also had a great atmosphere about it, friendly staff, the people that stayed near us were friendly as well (altho outside of the control of BRMR). I have to say, this was just a great place to stay while in a beautiful place like Banff AB. I've already recommended it to friends and family.

Yelp
If you're on the lower level you can hear EVERYTHING above you. We also were placed in a room right next to a baby (not the hotel's fault), and that certainly didn't help. There is NO A/C so they have lovely, crappy, old fans to try and propel warm air near your body. Lovely. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more money for another hotel in town! And DONT buy the food from the restaurant. It's garbage!

Yelp
Nice, clean, comfortable rooms with a full kitchen. Lots of amenities and close to town. I wish the shuttle ran a little more frequently, but we ended up renting a car, so didn't ride it that much anyway.

Yelp
I'm truly confused by the review comments that the rooms are updated and the beds are comfortable . Untidy, unkept and extremely bad service at this hotel. I cannot compliment the hotel on the mountains etc as that is nature's miracle so back to this hotel-motel. I think even a motel 6 would feel better than this and I'm so upset to have wasted my money here . It began with the rude and dismissive experience at check- in by Lindsey but we got in late on a long weekend so I let it go as I expected perhaps she had an busy day. But the room was so poorly kept. Again we got in late and I let it go. My second night and now my third day coming back after a long day out I'm over it! I want to come back to a bed made! Sheets were not changed. The bedsheet was not even straightened out and pulled and tucked in. The tucked the comforter in and did not even straighten the pillows! A used cup has been sitting on the counter for 2 days, the table books and brochures are left open and the bathroom far from feels freshly cleaned .... disgusting! I suggest if this happens to you you either demand your money back or you ask them to get you into one of these so called amazing new renovated rooms these so called real reviews on this page Are referring to...

Yelp
This place is terrible. I've been wanting to post a review for weeks but the wifi is so terrible I had to leave the premises to upload it. 1) Wifi is awful (see above). And if you tell them it's awful they'll say "It's down in certain areas of the hotel right now." I call BS. The wifi is always terrible. 2) The staff is nice to your face but will never actually help you. They're supposed to clean my room on Saturdays, last week they didn't. Not a big deal, called Sunday night to see what was up and they apologized and said they would have it done first thing Monday. Guess what? Monday at 6pm and it hasn't been done yet. Called again - "Oh, we thought it was to be done on Fridays". Well, it wasn't done on Friday either, and it's been cleaned on Saturdays for weeks. Thus I remain without towels and soap because the front desk said no one was left around tonight. Once asked if they could tell the people upstairs to be a bit quieter (if you're in a ground level room - beware). And they said security didn't show up until 11pm so I would have to wait until then. OH and once a hotel worker walked into my room while I was in the shower. It was after 7pm. 3) The gym hasn't been updated since the place was built. Don't use the sit-up mats or sit on the floor. Also don't look at the ceiling. This place gets a 1/5 because it has running water and a roof.

Yelp
I booked a loft room to have about 5 girls stay all together for a stagette party. We were on the top floor and it was just terrible. We had an elderly couple staying below us, and as we were walking out at 5pm to go for dinner, they were telling us we were making too much noise and to keep it down.... At 5pm! I told them that were were basically just getting changed and getting ready for dinner. I'm not really sure how we were making noise that was bothering them. So we came back and we started to play a board game, and at 10pm we heard them banging on the walls (I'm assuming to shut up). Seriously... We were all sitting around the table playing a board game. Yeah we were drinking, but seriously nothing crazy. At 11pm we had security visit our room twice. Because the people below us were complaining every 5 minutes about us. The security guard even said yeah it doesn't look like much is going on here and left. It was a Saturday night and all the walls and floors were paper thin. I feel bad that the people were pissed off with us, but we paid good money to be there. I think a lot of the noise travelled through us having the windows open. Since there was no AC, we couldn't keep the window closed. When we went to check out, we talked to the manager about the incident. And he didn't really seem to care. We told him that it was a very uncomfortable stay and we had the security guards word that we were really not making that much noise. We ended up getting 10 percent off our stay, but only cause the bride demanded one. Also there was no wifi. We tried over and over to connect but no luck. The next day the manager said yeah sorry. It's down in parts of the hotel. Not staying here again. The rooms were nice, but if you get any one who walks or talks above or below you, you'll hear everything.

Yelp
We had the last available cabin room in this huge mountain resort, thanks to a friend of us. The room on the first floor facing the forest was dark, but comfy and clean. A couch helped a lot and the bathroom was great. Unfortunately I didn't sleep at all due to the enormous soft bed with a huge dip in it. Awful for my back. But my daughter loved it and slept like a log (sic). I'd given it a 3, my daughter a 5, so we came out on a 4.

Yelp
The accommodations are decent and there are better places nearby, but the staff Is absolutely wonderful and it's really nice that the resort is situated right along a mountain bike and hiking trail that makes access to outdoor activities very easy. This resort is a little further away from downtown banff compared to other resorts as well, but it's not so far that the drive or shuttle ride is a drag.

Yelp
My parents had a time share here so I spent a lot of time at BRMR. over the last 25 years (give or take) Now, if I go, I look for a deal and often.. one can be found, especially off-season. I have been satisfied each time. There have not been any concerns and the staff has been consistently helpful, friendly and informative. There are amenities; pool, hot tub, gym etc... There is a shuttle bus that frequents into the town that otherwise is perhaps a 25 min walk. I have stayed in a few other places in Banff but really prefer this one for the value and comfort. They have kitchenettes, so one can enjoy meals or snacks while cozy-ing up in front of a fireplace and maybe some tv. This is not the fanciest place, but it is enough and a good value!

Yelp
We stayed for two nights between may 10th- may 12th 2015. The rooms themselves are decent but the staying experience was horrific. We heard rumbling noises at night which kept us awake two nights in a row and the morning on day 3 when we were about to checkout discovered our sealed food bags(bread bag) was broken into and corners were eaten. So not and we ended up throwing all our food but when we brought it to the notice of the personal at the reception were informed about their inability to do anything. During our visit to the Banff national park, we wanted to experience wild animals and nature but not rodents in our hotel room.

Yelp
We had a very nice 4 nights in here. Very spacious and cozy rooms. There is a restaurant on location, but at least the breakfast is not worth the money. Do note that this place is very convenient when traveling with a car, but the town centre is rather far by walking (some 30 minutes). If you are traveling with a car, I would recommend them. I would stay here again.

Yelp
I was booked to stay here for a work related trip. I was a little hesitant, worried that it might not be a nice as a more expensive place closer to the Fairmont Springs which is where my conference was. I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms smelled clean, everything was found in great order, and very clean. The front desk staff were friendly, very helpful, and very speedy. A bonus! My TV remote in my room didn't work, so I left a note for the cleaning staff to replace it or have it fixed, and I came back that evening to a fully working remote. Free WiFi in the rooms as well! WOO HOO!!! When I came in the morning to check out, I went to grab a coffee from their restaurant. Unfortunately, the staff member to open the restaurant wasn't in yet, but the concierge was nice enough to grab me a hot fresh coffee from their office, with creamers and sugar. He went an extra mile, and that impressed me! Overall, I was very happy with the stay here.

Yelp
This is a great place for a family to stay. There are various things my family liked about staying here: 1) Obviously, great views of the surrounding mountains. 2) Very friendly and helpful staff. The sports desk did a great job of recommending businesses/outfitters in the Banff area. They were very helpful in noting which attractions (i.e., Moraine Lake, Lake Louise) got crazy busy and where you should try to get early. 3) The family recreational amenities. Not that it was NBA quality, but there is an outdoor basketball court. You just leave your ID to get a free basketball to play with. Our son loved having family basketball games on this court in the middle of beautiful Rocky Mountain peaks. They also had a free s'mores-making session right by the basketball court. 4) The shuttle to Banff was convenient. We had a car, but when we didn't feel like parking in town we hopped on the shuttle. It was very easy. 5) The restaurant. The casual restaurant allowed you to eat at the resort without going into town, if you so desired. It also allowed you to catch up on your sports news, as they showed ESPN on the TVs in the restaurant. 6) The mini-refrigerator in the room. This allowed you to buy milk, yogurt, cereal, etc. for breakfast and avoid the time and expense of breakfast at a restaurant. Overall, a great experience!

Yelp
We stayed on 2nd floor 2 beds for a week (no pet). We enjoyed the cozy little condominium. It was quite convenient. The room has everything we need for a week (fridge, microwave, oven, dish washer, coffee stand, fire place, etc). It located closed to downtown and highway, so it was easy to access to shopping and nature. The service at the resort was good. we used gym and hot tab often. We will come back again.

Yelp
If you like sleep, do not stay here! My family and I had the worst hotel experience of our lives staying here. Initially, the room seemed quite nice, like a miniature condo. It had a kitchenette and a flat screen TV, so that wasn't bad. That was until we tried to go to bed. The walls are paper thin, and there is ZERO sound barrier between the upper and lower floors. We were kept up all night by what sounded like a construction crew above us, but turned out to be a small family. You will hear every single step they take. To add to our fun experience, we requested two beds but were told the "hide-a-bed" would suffice. Their version of a hide-a-bed is a metal fold out frame with about an inch of foam. It was miserable. So, in all, if you're going to Banff and you enjoy a good nights rest, stay anywhere but here!

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights while escaping the hustle and bustle of Calgary. The room we rented was a one-bedroom condo. It was very cute and we loved that it had a kitchenette because we were able to cook some of our own meals. The room was a little dated but very clean and well maintained so that wasn't an issue at all. We liked that they allowed us to bring our dog and that they had dog beds, dishes and treats available. There are hiking trails next to the hotel which was very convenient. The hotel has a small restaurant on site, which we tried and the food was actually good. We didn't go swimming but the pool and hot tub looked very inviting and the small variety store offered everything that you might need in a pinch. When we checked in the staff was very friendly and we noticed that this continued throughout our stay. The only time we had an issue was when we ordered firewood and the staff member that brought it to the room was very afraid of our dog but that, of course, didn't damper our view of the hotel as a whole. The hotel is a little outside the main strip in Banff but they so offer a shuttle which is very useful. Overall, we had a great experience at this location.

Yelp
I stayed here about 2 weeks ago with my boyfriend for a weekend in Banff. We were very exited with the premise of a loft suite that included a kitchenette and 1.5 bath. when we arrived the staff was very helpful and polite, Our room was clean and basic. good wifi signal and clean sheets.. The only complaint i have is that the housecleaning wasn't the best. i found a few towels that weren't folded and none of our papers were straightened. Looked as though all they did was make the bed. BUT it was quiet (probably due to the fact we were in the loft and were above everyone) and very comfortable with a wood burning fireplace that set the mood for a romantic weekend in the rocky's. My boyfriend and i plan on staying here again this coming august. One last thing to mention. we stayed 2 nights and the price was only $500. If you want a cheap stay in a nice accommodating resort then i suggest this one.
