Bang Bang Byron Bay

I had dinner here during my holiday and truly enjoyed the fish. The flavor was fantastic, with a pleasant spiciness that came not only from mild chilies but also from ingredients like pepper, onion, garlic, and shallots. Even with only a small amount of chili, the balance of flavors was excellent. The chef prepared the fish perfectly—crispy on the outside and still juicy inside. Just 30–60 seconds longer and it would have been dry, but this was spot on. However, we did encounter an issue, as we found a very long hair in the sauce, which seemed to be an accidental oversight in the kitchen. Despite this, I still give a high rating because of the chef’s skill in creating such a beautiful dish. I hope the restaurant takes more care in the future, as I would love to return and enjoy the food again without this problem. The service was also outstanding—our waitress provided fine-dining level service, with excellent English, great knowledge, and a genuinely warm attitude.

Last night we went to Bang Bang for my friend’s birthday and it was fantastic. Our waiter Douglas made our night so special. He was the best! The food was delicious. We had popcorn chicken, the Roti and prawn toast for entree and it was to die for! Best I’ve ever eaten and really filling. For mains we shared Pad Thai and a chicken curry and they were both so good. I had the Kokomo cocktail which was yummy and my friend had a special cocktail which they bought out with a sparkler for her birthday. We sat in a booth and the ambience was brilliant. Can’t recommend highly enough. We did book months in advance as it’s hard to get in but if you are going to Bryon please check it out.

absolutely delicious food. 😍 our lovely waitress sarah (from portugal 🇵🇹) recommended a few dishes and they were all top notch. we had the sashimi and roti as a starter and pad thai, beef massaman curry and the bbq trout - perfect to share for 3 people. the absolute highlight was the dessert - banana and chocolate spring rolls. would recommend to anyone visiting byron bay 🙃

We had such a great time at Bang Bang in Byron Bay! The atmosphere is super fun and energetic, with amazing vibes all around. The staff were so lovely and the service was on point the whole night. The food was SO delicious! Everything is designed to be shared. We were honestly surprised at how generous the portions were—everything just kept coming! We’re big eaters and even we couldn’t finish it all. Had to take a doggie bag home, which says a lot. Really great value for money, especially considering how tasty everything was. The wine list is solid, but the cocktails are where it’s at—so many fun and creative options. If you’re visiting Byron and looking for a great place to eat, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out. Such a good time! Note: We dined here December 2024

Sonjae looked after us and was warmingly attentive and accomodating to our table. Love his energy. Food was also next level, the most insane meal I’ve ever had. Definitely worth the $$$

Absolutely amazing food. We had the sashimi for starter and was blown away. The beef brisket was so tender and fell apart gracefully as soon as the fork touched. The curry had a very aromatic flavour. Highly recommend!

Bang Bang Byron Bay brings a mouth watering punch of flavors. My wife and I had the dinner for 2 (small option) and it was almost too much for us. We are 5'1" and 5'6" so keep that in mind. Every plate was just right and outstanding. The king fish sashimi has a nice fresh flavor and reminded me of ceviche. The Korean Popcorn chicken was crunchy and flavorful. The sticky pork belly was soft and sweet. The smashed sesame cucumber was fresh and crispy. The braised beef massaman with Jasmine was remarkable with the chocolate smooth flavor and white rice to add a nice blend. This restaurant is a five star must for any local and any visitor. If you must wait in line please do have a drink elsewhere while you wait, it is worth the wait. 5 star quality service.

11/05/2025 Had a great meal here. Ordered the bug buns to start which were super tasty. For mains we had the beef rib, bbq barramundi and the mixed vegetables. All food was delicious but the beef came out first for the mains and it took a while for the fish to come which was disappointing.

Yessssss. South East Asian inspired restaurant serving food almost tapas style. Our waitress recommended we order a few things for the table and they come out throughout the dinner. We were in the country for a few weeks and when we ponder back to our favorite food spot this kept being our answer when we thought. It's a few blocks off the water but the quality of food and culinary experience was truly unmatched. The Sashimi was the one thing she said we had to get. I have only started trying this dish but this was far and away the best I've had. My wife was a bit skeptical of going here but honestly there are options on the menu for all types and just exceeded all expectations. Go there tonight !!!

NOT recommended if you are if a certain age (as I am), and want to hear the people you are dining with. Totally unnecessary music volume (it's not just loud because of voices, this is controllable by the restaurant, and they've apparently decided that conversation is not necessary/encouraged? The food and drinks were both very good but not so good that I'd put up with the inability to chat while away on vacation with people I enjoy being with.

Best Thai I've had, 2nd to Holly Basil (Sydney) Bang bang are very creative with their menu. We enjoyed the Korean popcorn chicken, massaman, coconut rice and Chrispy cashew chicken. We had room for dessert and enjoyed the chocolate banana spring rolls and hot pineapple pie. A-MAZ-ING! Worth booking and make sure you skip lunch that day!

The food is amazing! For anyone from Melbourne - this place reminds me of chin chin! Highly recommend the sashimi and the rotti with satay sauce.

The food was great, Chrispy Chicken Wings and the Beef Ribs were the stand meals. If there are three or less in your group, you're likely to be sat the counter tables along the street side windows which can make conversation a little more difficult.
