My experience with Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai was beyond disappointing; it was genuinely distressing and felt like a calculated attempt to make money by scaring patients. I would strongly advise anyone, especially foreigners or students needing visa/university check-ups, to be extremely wary.
My girlfriend went in for a standard medical check-up required for her university. Everything seemed routine until the consultation. After her chest X-ray, a doctor came in with a very serious tone and told us they had found something concerning in her lungs, suggesting it could be Tuberculosis.
The immediate "solution" they offered was not a standard, logical follow-up test like a sputum analysis. Instead, they immediately tried to push us into getting a very expensive MRI scan. It felt like a classic scare tactic - deliver potentially terrifying news and then pressure the worried and vulnerable patient into an overpriced procedure. It seemed less about a genuine medical concern and more about profiting from our fear.
I refused the MRI and immediately took my girlfriend to another reputable hospital in Chiang Mai for a second opinion. We did the entire check-up again, including the X-ray. The result from the second hospital? She was perfectly fine. Her lungs were completely clear, and there were absolutely no signs of any issues.
The immense relief we felt was quickly overshadowed by pure anger at what Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai had put us through. They caused us incredible stress and worry with a questionable diagnosis, seemingly with the sole intention of selling an unnecessary, high-cost scan. This feels like a predatory business practice, not ethical healthcare.
This hospital appears to have a system that exploits people's fears for financial gain. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this hospital to anyone. Go elsewhere if you want an honest and professional medical opinion.
