Busy for lunch even after 2pm on a Friday. We ordered 2 banh cuon beef, additional fried potatoes with shrimp a bun moc noodle soup. Food arrived quickly. The soup was new to us, gave a variety of meatballs to try, noodles really thin and the produce on the side was nice. The banh cuon was fine, I prefer a softer noodle. Service was nice and efficient.

Great tasting food and it's affordable! Would return again. The portions are very generous! I was super stuffed. I also ordered Jasmin Tea and it reminded me of the fragrant Jasmine Tea from HeyTea.

Definitely enjoyed the banh cuon although the cha lua was a little rougher. Service was decent

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but the afternoon crowds always deterred me. So, I decided to come early on a Saturday morning, and I'm glad I did! There were plenty of seats available, and the service was quick and efficient. The menu is simple, but that's what makes it so appealing. The banh cuon was the star of the show. The texture was perfect, and the flavor was even better than I remember from Tay Ho. The bun moc was a delightful surprise. It was simple, but the flavors were so well-balanced. The restaurant was also very clean, with tables being cleared promptly. I'll definitely be back to try more of their offerings!

Got to visit Ong Ta Banh Cuon Bun Moc (banh cuon is freshly steamed rice rolls filled with grounded pork, onions, spices & chopped dried mushrooms) is located in the Vietnam Town Shopping Plaza. Ordered to go #1 special Bánh Cuốn Đặc Biệt – which had delicate chew, juicy bits of pork and veggies giving a burst of flavor accompanied with fresh bean sprouts, mint, herbs and other sides, all meant to be dipped or drizzled in a prepared savory fish sauce (add on chili sauce and fried shallots for umami) Taste: 4.8 / 5 stars Portion size: generous - one to go portion was enough for two Likely the best in San Jose as I’ve been living in the NorCal area for over 35 years now and hadn’t come across a banh cuon restaurant with not only generous portions but tasty combinations of various fried grounded pork patties and steamed pork patties (cha) & nem (cured pork patties) etc - four different types total plus a deep fried sweet potato shrimp cake to top it off. Would I visit again? Absolutely 👍 Recommend to family & friends: for sure 😋 To go order total: under $18 USD On a separate note, love to ski, ride & good eats? 👉 SnowPals Dot Org since ‘99

The restaurant is small and short on staff. There’s only 1 cleaning staff and he’s a middle aged uncle, so if you come in and find the table dirty or not clear of previous customer’s plates, be patient standing next to the table. The uncle will eventually come. First time come in, we didn’t know that sitting by the table waiting for orders to be taken means dine-in, and lining up before the cashier means take-out. I saw a long line, so I went to line up and order. We chose a table and waited for 20 minutes only to have our orders in takeout plastic bag. The food is good though. We ordered one Special Banh Cuon and one Banh canh thit. My husband likes the Banh cuon, but the fiah sauce is too spicy to me. On the other hand, I really like Banh canh. Will come again, and this time we will wait patiently at the table for the waiter :)

Google
This place is popular; you can tell it from its concise menu, which has no more than five sheets. The menu is simple, specialized, and affordable, but what's even better is that the food is delicious. Due to the place's popularity, I suggest going on a weekday, arriving early, or not going there too hungry. The staff makes a great effort to serve all customers promptly and attentively, even when there is a long queue. They don't pressure you to finish your food quickly or keep track of you with the check when they serve you your food. The place could be improved by having more tables and space inside.

Yelp
Likely the best Banh Cuon, always super full so if you're lucky to get a seat, snag it. Sign up to get in line on a piece of paper and make sure your name isn't hard to read so it gets called out properly. Order the most expensive banh cuon, and you'll get all the goods, it's huge and can be both lunch and dinner. If the line is too long, go inside to the register and order what you want directly there to go and they'll pack it up for you nice and neat. Enjoy yall

Yelp
I love Banh cuon. It's so fresh here and soft. I love the #1 plate that has both the ground pork and dried shrimp Banh cuons. It includes eggrolls, sweet potato shrimp fritter and assorted pork rolls. The Banh canh suon is an udon soup with pork rib and other assorted balls and pork blood. It's so warming on a cold day or if you are feeling under the weather. The passion fruit juice is so refreshing. I've also had the hot citrus honey ginger drink to soothe my throat. I've dined both inside and outside. Service is prompt.

Yelp
Walked around Vietnam town and saw this little restaurant, due to an empty store front next door, there was a lot of outdoor tables. The colorful menu looked appealing so we grabbed a table on the fringe. No waiter came until the manager came by and took our orders. I had beef stew with banquet and my wife had the spring rolls with shrimp. The beef was chunky and difficult to eat gracefully (guess I could have asked for a separate plate with a steak knife and fork. The meat was tender, with a mixture of tendon and meat that I like. But it tasted too sweet than what I'm used to in the Chinese beef noodle soup. The bread that came with the stew was good, warm and chewy! The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was really good and unique.
google avatar

Yelp
The special rice roll was a very balanced meal with protein and veggies. The special rice roll came with 3 types of rice rolls and my favorite was the shrimp one. I enjoyed trying the different types of sausages, difficult to choose a favorite one. A food coma type of meal.
google avatar

Yelp
I've tried banh cuon before and didn't like it, but now I know, since coming here, that it was just because it wasn't made well. The steamed rice rolls here are fairly silky but have an ample amount of filling, and the Vietnamese hams on the side are SOO good and have a unique flavor profile from each one. The fried shrimp pancake (?) and the spring roll were unexpected but delicious surprises with my plate!! 100% would recommend to anyone who wants Vietnamese food outside of just pho, spring rolls, or vermicelli bowls. Love!!

Yelp
So happy to find another place that sells rice rolls. The plaza that this restaurant is located in has one of the busiest parking lots ever. It's sooo crowded and it took us forever to find a spot. We came around 12 on a Sunday and luckily we didn't have to wait. The crowd started to build after us but they turn over tables quickly. There's seating inside and outside. The outside seats have a cover so you're in the shade. Service is super quick and they were friendly. -Bánh cuốn #2 (rice roll with meat filling): 5/5! I read reviews that said the portions were huge and they were right. I was able to easily share this with my boyfriend and we got full. Everything paired together so nicely. The fish sauce made everything taste better. -egg rolls: 5/5, can't go wrong with these. They were hot and crispy. I like to wrap the egg roll in lettuce before I dip it in fish sauce

Yelp
Came by as a group of 8 on a Saturday, and the place was bumping even at 1:20. We put our name down and were seated probably ~25min later. I haven't had banh cuon in a while, so this really hit the spot. My husband and I each got the #1 because it came with the most variety, and that was the right choice. Portions were big, and everything was flavorful. I loved the heat on the chilis that came with the fish sauce. Service was pretty decent; they came by often checking on us and asking if we needed water refills. I want to come back and try the Vietnamese meatball soup next time! While parking can get crazy in the plaza on weekends, this place is one of my favorites because there are so many other delicious spots nearby for dessert and coffee after!
google avatar

Megan T.

Yelp
This restaurant isn't that big and is busy on the weekends. If ordering to-go on the weekends I recommend calling ahead of time, it took around 50 min for my order to be ready but when you call they will give an estimate time. I had the banh cuon dac biet which comes with both plain and filled banh cuon, an egg roll, cha lua (pork sausage), nem chua (fermented pork), and a shrimp+potato fritter. Everything is so good and the texture of the banh cuon is nice & soft. I've tried a bit of the bun moc, the pork bone broth is flavorful but not heavy. The portions here are large and is a solid spot for Vietnamese food.

Yelp
Kind of a let-down unless you like this specific texture of rice roll. - 3.5/5: #1 Banh Cuon Dac Biet Rice roll. You get plain, shrimp, and pork. The good: It comes with a very good egg roll. The bad: The rice wrapper is authentic, but not QQ; it's not as good as a chow fung noodle. The fried shrimp cake is room temperature and rubbery. It comes with meh sliced sausage. - 2.8: Bo Bia. Rice roll with very thin sausage and egg. It has mostly vegetables (Jicama? ). Not very interesting.
google avatar

Vivian N.

Yelp
This place is really busy on a weekend! Make sure you sign your name on the list asap, the parking in this plaza is no joke. My family loves going here all the time to get the banh cuon dac biet. It's well balanced and always fresh. I forgot to take a picture of it this time before digging in but it's always consistent. I tried the Banh Canh Cua this time and it was decent though I've had better. My parents thought the broth was a bit on the salty side. The presentation is nice but I was surprised since the menu picture showed a super red broth. It was good but hence the name, this place is best for banh cuon!

Yelp
Located in Vietnam Town, parking can be sort of difficult to find if you come during popular meal times. My mom was in the mood for banh cuon so we stopped in at Ong Ta. We probably waited 30 minutes for a table, it was popping. We were seated outside, but they do provide shade so it's not bad. Mom ordered the banh cuon dac biet and I got the banh cuon chay. These portions are HUGE. That hot sauce is no joke, add a little bit at a time and don't full commit like me. Neither one of us managed to finish our orders and had to take it to go. We should have shared. Mom was born and raised in Vietnam and she was very impressed. I would definitely come back and maybe share a portion or try the bun. Service was quick and no frills.

Yelp
I've been to Banh Cuon Moc Ong Ta a few times and usually come for their banh cuon, which they're known for. But on this visit, I decided to try something different and was super surprised by how good the bo kho (beef stew) was. Honestly, it ended up being the dish I enjoyed the most. The beef was tender, the stew was rich and flavorful, and dipping the crispy bread into it just hit the spot. Definitely recommend giving it a try--even if you're going for banh cuon, this dish is worth ordering at least once. I also take out the soft bread inside and put the beef into between the bread to make a sandwich. This place gets really packed on the weekends, so be ready for a wait, but it's worth it if you're craving something comforting. I'll admit, I didn't enjoy the banh cuon as much this time--maybe it was just my mood or what I was craving that day--but the beef stew really stood out and made the visit worth it. Solid spot overall.

Yelp
Tried Banh Cuon Ong Ta and decided to order the Banh Canh Cua out of curiosity. It was decent--I'd give it a 7.5/10--but it's definitely not the traditional version you'd expect. The broth wasn't the signature red-orange hue and tasted more like a basic banh canh with some crab added in. Probably not their specialty, which makes sense since this is a banh cuon spot. That said, I'll still be coming back--for the Banh Cuon Combination only. That's where they shine.

Yelp
I always love me some Vietnamese food! Every time I come to Vietnam town, I always want Banh Cuon Ong Ta. The food is delicious! I always get myself the Banh Cuon Đặc Biệt. I am mesmerized and I salivated at the thought of it, it's just so good! I love the fish sauce it comes with. I also ordered Goi Cuon and Bo Bia dishes as well. The store is a little cramped but there is outside seating as well. It can get very busy on the weekends so make sure you don't come on such an empty stomach or you'll be hangry. Hits: * Banh Cuon Đặc Biệt is always a must. The rolls are so fresh and all the toppings and foods it comes with is so delicious! You can add peppers too but don't put too much because a little spice goes a long way! * Bo Bia is super yummy and comes with a sauce to be dipped in! * Goi Cuon & Nem Cuon is like your typical spring roll. Still delicious with a sauce to be dipped in. * Bun Móc is tasteful and well seasoned! The broth is very tasty and light and is a good go too if you want a soup noodle dish. Final Verdict: Solid 4.5/5. This might be the best place in San Jose for fresh rice rolls and I definitely would recommend it! I love it and I always want to eat it when I find myself in Vietnam town. There are other soup dishes that I still want to try such as the banh canh.

Yelp
If you're looking to eat the best bánh cuốn (steamed rice rolls), look no further because this is the best bánh cuốn in town! Situated in Viet Town, parking is busy, especially on weekends, but not impossible. I suggest parking in the back and walking. There is a paper waitlist at the entrance of the store, and the wait can be around 15-20 minutes. There are indoor and outdoor options available. However, Vietnamese being Vietnamese (I can say this cause I'm Viet, so don't come at me!), there is always usually one guy smoking outside somewhere. So if you have kids, I suggest eating indoors. Because it's a popular restaurant in a small establishment, the environment can feel chaotic. Ordering was quick and efficient but make sure you review it with your server. I remember receiving soup when I ordered bánh cuốn the first time I came here! I must say, the portions are huge and come with a variety of food. From the giò (Vietnamese ham) to the bánh cuốn to the chả giò (eggroll), to the fried crispy pancake to the đậu hũ (tofu) and lastly, to the giá và rau thơm (bean sprouts and herbs), it is a full meal that will leave you satiated! I swear that for the vegetarian plate, the Vietnamese egg looked so realistic and one of them, almost egg-like, that I had to ask the owner if it had egg in it. She replied, "No egg! It's vegan." So my already-blown mind was more in awe hearing that. The rice rolls themselves are soft and the filling was perfect. Pro-tip: If you love spice, add a teaspoon or two of the cut up thai peppers that's on your table into your fish sauce/vegan fish sauce for a spicier dipping sauce! I highly recommend this place and I'm sure many of the local Vietnamese here do, too! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here on a weekend for a late lunch and had a great meal. It's a no frills spot with fast service. Got the nem nuong cuon and banh cuon dac biet. Both were delicious and hit the spot. Definitely would come back to try more dishes! Parking can be a little difficult in the lot during peak hours, but just be a little patient.

Yelp
*Visited on a Saturday around noon with a group of 5 Came here with family after being recommended by a cousin in law. I was impressed with how busy it was, and was pretty excited to eat some yummy banh cuon! We had put our name on a waitlist and was seated inside within 20-25 minutes. The inside of the restaurant is small and quaint, however there was plenty of seating outside. The service here is quick, they get straight to the point and though they are busy, they''ll check in on you and your table occasionally. OKAY THE FOOD: * Banh Uot Tom Chay: I had ordered this due to being allergic to mushrooms, but was pleasantly surprised with how much food this dish came with! The Tom Chay was SO CRISPY and full of flavor, and I love that they have large bottles of nuoc cham ready for you at the table. *Banh Cuon Thit: My boyfriend has this dish, and has been raving about it ever since we visited. From the looks of it, the plate was also filled to the brim and was loaded with different cha, nem and the banh cuon was also pretty filled. I'd definitely come back, and highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
Traveled here just for Bun Moc. Haven't had some good ones since my visits to Vietnam and this place stands toe to toe with the authenticity and deliciousness of the ones I had overseas.
google avatar

Yelp
We came by on a Sunday afternoon around 3 PM with a party of 6 and were seated right away outside. There was indoor seating and outdoor seating but we chose outdoor because we had a dog. The food was generously portioned and very reasonable for the price! I loved it and left feeling really full. If you love banh cuốn i highly recommend this place. My brother got the combo plate which is only $2 more but comes with at least 50% more food, so if you're hungry and have a big appetite do get that!
google avatar

Amy V.

Yelp
Its a small restaurant with outdoor seating as well. They specialize in Banh Cuon and Bun Moc. We also tried their beef stew with rice noodles. The portions for the Banh Cuon is HUGE! Rice roll was fresh. Each table had a sauce pitcher so you dont have to keep asking for more fish sauce. Their Bun Moc reminds me of home styled Bun Moc so that was pretty nostalgic. Flavors were strong and present. I also got their Vietnamese Black coffee with no sugar. Kept me alert for hours! I can definitely see why these dishes are their main here at the restaurant. Would love to come back to try the Bun Rieu!
google avatar

Leeza D.

Yelp
Banh cuon is a steam rice flour sheet that can be plain or stuffed with meats and veggies. It is accompanied by a sweet fish sauce and Vietnamese pork roll and other toppings. It's street food in Vietnam. This restaurant does it very well and the banh cuon is delicious and the toppings complement the dish. I always order the special so I can try a little bit of everything. They were busy when I visited and I can taste why. Indoor seating, casual, good service. Please come and create your own adventure.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Banh cuon special #1 for the tasty win! It's so fresh and legit here! Inside ingredients is perfectly what's needed to make this dish. I like how they provide a piece of the peppered ham - my fave in banh mi (sandwiches). Their sauce and hot peppers, complement this dish perfectly. #19 nem cuon (sausage spring roll) is a great appetizer. I adore the side sauce too! It's busy here for the weekends afternoons. Parking lot is the best way to go for parking in this bustling plaza!
google avatar

Yumei H.

Yelp
My mom and I came to this restaurant close to 1pm on a Saturday and got seated after 30 minutes of waiting. This place was extremely busy and I can see why. The broth for the soup was light but full of flavors and their portions are huge. My mom and I shared both the #1 special rice roll and #7 vermicelli soup with meat ball. Honestly, after sharing the vermicelli soup with my mom, I started to feel full already, so we had a lot of the rice roll leftovers to bring home. The service wasn't quick mainly because the restaurant was so busy. We ended up being seated outside by the entrance. There were seatings inside and outside the restaurant.
google avatar

Tina B.

Yelp
This place is always very busy when we go, but it's always worth it!! We got the combo with all 3 kinds and banh cuon (plain, meat, and shrimp) and the shrimp banh cuon plate. The portion of the combo plate is so big so now we just share that one!
google avatar

Mai S.

Yelp
Food was good but I'm concerned about cleanliness.. every bowl on the table for the sauce had some black stain so I had to wipe and one on the bottom had water inside.. our table felt sticky and I tasted alcohol in my water (prob from cleaning spray..) They only have few servers during lunch rush and they looked so busy.. so good luck getting their attention. Napkins at every table were not filled. Just not enough people working. Tastes wise similar to Banh Cuon Tay Ho, but wraps are kind of messy and we had to deal with all the hassle of waiting and crowd of people. It used to be better but prob went down over time as it's always popular anyway. But I will choose to go Tay Ho for Banh Cuon from now on.
google avatar

Roselyn D.

Yelp
We always come back to this place for banh cuon, probably our favorite place in norcal! We always order the special combo since we're indecisive and they're all good, so you get a little of everything. We also always get the soy milk since it's yummy and not too sweet. They're pretty packed but line goes by pretty quickly if you're open to outdoor seating. Can get a bit windy at times, so I typically put things under my plate or behind the napkin holder so things don't fly off. Dog friendly, I see a lot of dogs in the outdoor seating area.
google avatar

Danae L.

Yelp
Popular spot for banh cuon! Their combination #1 is a popular favorite. This place is almost always crowded - even during odd meal hours on the weekday. I had their bun rieu because I wanted some broth. Not bad, but definitely try their banh cuon!
google avatar

Bonnie N.

Yelp
This is my mom's favorite banh cuon place and ever since she introduced it to me it's now mine too. On the weekend it gets very busy. We've always gone by 11:30am because that's when it starts getting packed and wait times start. They get people in and out quick though. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor has heating lamps and covers to block the wind and sun. We always get the #1 banh cuon special. Portion size is huge and everything is very tasty. The steamed pork is juicy and flavorful. The shrimp fritter and egg roll are perfectly crispy. There's a bottle of fish sauce at every table with little sauce dishes to pour your own. Be careful of the chili because it is quite spicy. I've gotten togo portions to bring to my family in SF and it was still good when I got there. If you're looking for a banh cuon spot, definitely try here and it might become your new fave.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Solid place for banh cuon! Usually haven't seen this at restaurants. I still however do prefer the taste of home made ones for the filing, however the rice roll was the perfect texture. I recommend getting #1 since it has everything and is a lot more food for $1.50 more. My favorite was actually the pancake it came with, sweet and crunchy. The restaurant itself was very small, but there's a lot of seating outside. The service is okay, you'll definitely need to flag someone down for help.
google avatar

Betty G.

Yelp
Omg, my favorite place for banh cuon! Huge portions. Orders come out quickly. Even when busy, usually getting a table isn't too long of a wait. I like how you can pour as much or as little of the fish sauce since it comes in a large pitcher on the table! Also, the chilies on the table are super spicy, just a small amount will flavor the sauce needed for the entire plate. I really want to try some of the other dishes like the soups, but I know the banh cuon is so delicious and I end up getting it every time!
google avatar

Sharine N.

Yelp
The workers I interacted with were friendly. The food is delicious when eaten there. Unfortunately, this time I took it to and ate it about 30 minutes later, so it was a bit mushy. I put my name on the list but the line was so long that I decided to order to go instead. I should have jus waited and ate there because they went through the list pretty fast. I waited about 15-20 more minutes after my name was called. Lesson learned. Very busy plaza so parking is terrible on the weekend!
google avatar

Minah L.

Yelp
They offer one vegetarian option for banh cuon that I ordered for takeout. It was about a 12 minute wait and a decent portion for its size (~$16). This was a filling and light meal for two. Lots of tasty toppings for the veg option and a flavorful sauce. I recommend adding sliced cucumbers at home for an extra refreshing crunch. Unfortunately my egg roll had shrimp and meat inside so that was an unpleasant surprise as a vegetarian.
google avatar

Elena J.

Yelp
My party of 4 came here on Saturday around 1pm and luckily only had to wait a few minutes to be seated outside. I ordered the meat-filled banh cuon and it was delicious! This was my first time trying banh cuon, and I really liked the texture and consistency of the rice wrapper. The yam pancake (?) was super crispy as well.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
As the name suggest, go here for Bahn Cuon! They have several plate combinations but their #1 plate is my favorite to sample a little bit of everything. Their menu is pretty simple, a page of Bahn Cuon, a page of soups, and then a page of their sides. Definitely the Bahn Cuon is the star here but all their other soups and sides are solid as well. It's always pretty busy here but service is quick. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare but there is a structure close ish if you don't mind a walk.

Yelp
Pretty solid Banh cuon spot, and the Banh canh suon wasn't shabby either. Came around 430PM on sat and there was no wait.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
This restaurant offers a welcoming and clean environment, with a straightforward setup that creates a comfortable dining atmosphere. The staff were notably attentive and friendly, providing prompt service and thoughtful recommendations, which added a warm touch to the visit. The bun rieu was the standout dish, delivering a rich and well-balanced crab noodle soup. One of my favorite soups. I sometimes crave it over Pho. Its broth was vibrant, with a harmonious blend of tangy tomato and savory crab flavors, paired with perfectly cooked noodles, fresh herbs, and generous portions of crab paste and tofu. The banh cuon, however, was less impressive. While the steamed rice rolls were soft and adequately prepared, and the fish sauce accompaniment was flavorful, the dish itself felt somewhat unremarkable, and didn't taste fresh. The pricing is fair, offering good value for the portion sizes and quality, especially in the San Jose area. Banh Cuon was what I came for so it left me wanting.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
The wait for this place was pretty long on Black Friday @ 1pm. It was probably about 30 min wait for a table of two. We ordered a bun rieu and the ban cuon special. The bun rieu came pretty fast. The bowl isn't too big but it's packed with at least one big piece of meat, multiple crab meatballs and tofu. It also comes with a few sauces (sorry I don't know the names of them). In general, I enjoyed the bun rieu. I liked the little hot sauce they provided. I can't speak for the authenticity of it though. The ban cuon platter had a lot of food. It came with a little eggroll, three different types of ham cuon and a selection of meat loaf. Although it somehow took a really long time to come. We also ordered an eggroll but it never came. We were able to cancel the order since we were full anyway. The total cost per person came to about $20 with no leftovers. I guess it is on the pricier end of the spectrum but I do think it is worth trying. I would definitely come back again and order a bun rieu. But I don't know if it is worth waiting for so long. I guess it's ok if you're bored and have nothing to do anyway.

Yelp
I could eat here everyday! I got here pretty early so there was still some seating left inside but it slowly started to get packed as soon as I sat down. I got the Dac Biet and boy was it special! I love rice roll and anything and this plate of banh cuon was so satisfying it made me crave it even more! Loaded with goodies such as pork rolls, cured pork, bean sprouts, and a shrimp fritter, this was the most complete plate of banh cuon and everything that I love so dearly all on one plate. On the side is fish sauce and chopped chilis and honestly, that combo is probably the best condiment pairing on earth. The chili was spicy and hot but the fish sauce was sweet so it pairs so well and goes well with the banh cuon. The shrimp fritter was nice and crispy, the pork rolls were soft and delicious. The cured pork piece was heavenly. The banh cuon was soft, smooth, and slippery in a good way. I was eating mouthfuls of it and each mouthful that I had, it seemed as if it was pure euphoria entering my taste buds. Absolutely divine.

Yelp
First time coming here and try the food, a friend took us here. The price is reasonable yet the taste is something missing. I really can tell what we're missing, yet same with others. To my surprise all of us ordered the same thing.

Yelp
We ordered two of their banh buon dat biet. Service was fairly prompt, ordered with the cashier and they told me to wait outside. Somehow there was a miscommunication with kitchen so they brought it out on two plates vs two take out containers. Food was delicious; the rice layers are thin and perfectly textured. The toppings are well done and the fish sauce was also delicious. The fried crispy shrimp and shredded potato cake was tasty, the sour pork loaf was amazing, and the soy/steamed meat slices were also well flavored. Why the low star rating? WE FOUND A CRINKLY PUBE in one of the take out boxes with the fried shallots [insert puke emoji] Legit hoping it was armpit hair...

Yelp
This is my favorite spot for banh cuon!! I try to come to the restaurant 5 minutes before they open because they fill up fast, especially on the weekend. Everything tastes so fresh and made with love. If you are in the mood for soup, I would recommend getting the banh canh. The restaurant is on the small side but they have tons of outdoor seating.

Yelp
A coworker suggested that I should try the banh coun special, it was interesting, spicy and filling. I also ordered spring rolls to go which were awesome. I sat outside, because it was a sunny day, as well as offering a great place to watch people walking by. Not much for ambiance, but the food easily makes up for that.

Yelp
I was craving some banh cuon- so glad we finally tried out Banh Cuon Bun Moc Ong Ta. The restaurant was pretty busy on Sunday- service is pretty quick. There were 3 different banh cuons - there was alot of filling, very tasty. The noodle soup and egg rolls were also delicious.

Yelp
Very forgettable experience. We ordered the #1 Banh Cuon Dac Biet and the Bo Bia (summer roll). The banh cuon had a nice texture but was nothing special, if you don't like shrimp then you won't like the filling because it's essentially diced mushrooms with a bit of ground pork and small shrimp. The other banh cuon just had shrimp shavings inside, which was good but nothing special either. Their Vietnamese ham (cha lua) is delicious here though! And the nem chua (raw fermented pork) was very good. The fritter was just okay, it was a nice crispy contrast to the squishy proteins and banh cuon which I appreciated. The Bo Bia was just chinese sausage with pickled daikon and carrots wrapped in rice paper and dipped in peanut butter sauce. The peanut butter sauce was too thin for my liking, and overall the rolls were not special and I would not recommend. I thought that there would be nem chua (raw fermented pork) inside but the photo on the menu was decieving so don't get it confused like I did! The nuoc mam here was just alright. One order of banh cuon dac biet and an appetizer will be enough to fill 2 people, especially for a breakfast or early lunch. Service was good, however food was nothing special. I'd give the restaurant a 2/5 but the food was edible, don't get me wrong! I'm just Vietnamese and have had banh cuon from the motherland so I'm particular. I'd rather get banh uot by the pound from Lo Banh Cuon and bring that home to eat instead.

Yelp
We were in the area and wanted some Banh Cuon! I had this place bookmarked and it's literally in their name. We arrived around 11:15am on a Sunday with our furbaby, so we were either going to sit outside or get takeout. When we arrived we were first in line at the time and didn't need to wait more than 5 minutes since there was a table outside available. We ordered #1 Banh Cuon Dac Biet and #19 Nem Nướng Cuon, which were both delicious! The total came out to be around $23, which doesn't seem too bad and we were so full!

Yelp
One of the very best Viet spots in SJ hands down. When you come here, it'll probably be very busy and they are understaffed so please be patient with the workers. They'll take your name at the front and call you when the table's ready! They have casual indoor and outdoor seating. We came on a Sunday and it was packed. First time eating at this specific restaurant, but banh cuon is one of my favorite Viet dishes. This spot is fantastic. I highly recommend you get a table and eat it here because they make the banh cuon fresh and it just doesn't hit the same once it's no longer new. We all ordered the Dac Biet (Special). The rice crepe is thin and so delicate. My favorite topping was the fried yam with the shrimp and suprisingly the egg roll. The egg roll is fried to perfection, light, crispy and delightful. The nuoc mam (fish sauce) here is very complimenting. One thing to note is that the chilis in the jar on the side are actually VERY spicy so add that to your fish sauce, taste, and add more if you desire. It's got that tongue numbing level of spice.

Yelp
I was craving banh canh cua and randomly Banh Cuon Ong Ta popped up in my search! I totally forgot that they offered banh canh cua..but I didn't think to even order this dish there since we typically like to stick to dishes that are a restaurants speciality. Like I wouldn't order a rice plate at a pho restaurant. Lol. Butttt it's been a while since we've been back there and we've always enjoyed their banh cuon or bun moc, so we decided to go try their banh canh after reading some good reviews. It's located in Vietnam Town so parking kinda sucks if you want to find a spot close by. Like people be parking in the loading zones like NBD. Lol We got there around 11am on a Friday and the restaurant was nice and empty. Only 1 table of diners. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating has heat lamps and a green cover tent / over hang to protect against the wind but it was still chilly when we were there. We chose to sit outside since we had a stroller because it was too cramped indoors. We ordered.. BANH CANH CUA $17.95 -vietnamese udon noodle with crab meat. It came with fried fish cake patties, shrimp paste, sliced mushrooms, blood cubes, sliced fatty pork and pork spare ribs. Topped with green onion, fried shallots and pork cracklings. Everything tasted fresh and the udon noodles were so chewy and bouncy. The broth was clean but a bit light for our tastes. Not as thick as other banh canh broths we've had. I added a squeeze of lime juice to give it some tanginess and of course their freshly chopped red chilies to make it fiery! 4/5* BANH CUON THIT $14.50 -rice roll with meat filling. It came with a fried shrimp cake, eggroll, 3 types of cha lua (vietnamese ham), nem chua (fermented pork), and a mixture of steamed bean sprouts with sliced cucumber and basil. Topped with fried shallots. I LOVE their red chili peppers so I put spoonfuls of it into my fish sauce as well. The fish sauce is so good. The banh cuon was super soft and fresh..the meat filling was peppery but wasn't 100% sure if it was fresh. It looked kinda dark but it could be from their seasoning. They give you only 1 piece of each cha now, before they gave 2 pieces each. Loved how crispy the eggroll and fried shrimp cake were. 4/5* Service was really friendly. They made the effort to clean our tables even after we sat down. Whatever we asked for extra they grabbed it with no problem. When you sit outside, they don't have the fish sauce or red chilies available on the table. They give it to you in small togo sauce containers. We asked for extra chilies since we love that spicy heat and the waiter was kind enough to bring us a whole jar instead. We left with our noses running from the spiciness of the chilies and our bellies full. Gotta come back there more often!

Yelp
A small family owned and operated restaurant that's located in a really busy strip mall in San Jose. I came about an hour later than the usual lunch rush I would assume so the place wasn't super busy. The specialty here is banh cuon or Vietnamese rice sheets/ rolls. I ordered the number 1 or the special platter. This gave me a good variety of the different items on the menu. Including an egg roll and a fried shrimp fritter as well as a variety of Viet sausage slices. They give you the sauce on the side, along with chili on the side as well to mix to your liking in terms of spiciness. The flavors and textures of this dish were really really good. I was driving through town on the way up from the Central Coast and looked up what would be the best representation of this dish in San Jose. I definitely wasn't let down with this choice. There's lots of parking but just know that because there are so many businesses located in this strip mall, parking could get really busy and slightly stressful.
