Tried Banken Friday night as my daughter wanted good meat and I had heard great things about the place.
Walking in, first impressions were great, looks like a really nice place, then the service was fantastic.
Wanting beef, we asked what the nicest cut was and we were recommended the Entrecote.
This is where disappointed came. I managed to eat mine (medium rare). I have never worked so hard to eat a piece of meat, and usually I can eat the whole piece and fat doesn't bother me, my daughter got half way through hers and gave up trying. (Same cut cooked medium.
My partner had a dish with both oxfile and flaskfile. The oxfile was absolutely sensation but the flaskfile was dry.
Who ever cut mine and my daughters meat should have known it wasn't good enough to serve, if you really have to serve meat that quality, use it for something else or use it for well done so it melts more fat.
Over all, I was very disappointed with my visit, paying top dollar for substandard cuts of meat just doesn't seem right.
Great atmosphere. Good service that would rate higher if they knew the meat quality when we enquired. 2 out of 3 meals should never have made it onto a table, other meal was partly fantastic.
