Great Hotel. Great Location. Great free bar. Nice touches, cheese and wine in the afternoon, and lovely staff.||A lovely Oasis in the heart of the hustle and bustle. Near all the major sights. Brilliant.||The breakfasts are great and Sondra the lady who works the egg bar at breakfast is a SuperStar. ||Highly recommended.

The room with canal view was great, the breakfast was awesome (fresh food and juices, fried eggs and bacon, etc), and everything is included (private bar, wines and cocktails with cheeses at 5 pm). People at the hotel are great. The hotel itself is at walking distance of main museums, flower market, train station, etc. Definitely a great place to rest in Amsterdam for a few days.

What a beautiful and awesome hotel. I have to say I was dubious about the all-inclusive drinks, but it was true. Every day there is a wine and cheese. Also, cookies and chocolate. The hotel is beautiful with a wonderful location. You need to walk about 15-20 minutes to most attractions. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. |The breakfasts are delicious, and the chef Alfonse pleasant and hard working. The room itself was clean and cozy, and I had a view of the canal.|You can't go wrong with this hotel. Highly recommend.

We loved this hotel. We immediately felt at “home” as soon as we checked in. The “mini-all-inclusive” aspects of the hotel really shine throughout the stay. Don’t miss the daily wine and cheese tastings in the living room every day as well as the fresh and made-to-order breakfast each morning in the kitchen.||Great location. Easy to get to all of the fun Amsterdam has to offer. Right on a beautiful canal street. ||We would definitely stay here again… ||(even though we still haven’t quite gotten used to the international hotel standard of having two twin beds pushed together.. 😂)

We booked this hotel due to the positive reviews and the website. Although our stay was pleasant it felt like we were staying in a museum with all the other aged couples. The free drinks and snacks probably aren’t worth the money and the heating was locked on high. We finally worked out that we could open a window which helped a bit. The staff aren’t really interested in guests and just stand around chatting to each other. I’m probably more suited to a hotel with old style service.

Upon our arrival at this charming, bohemian hotel, we were immediately enamored. The ambiance emanates warmth and inviting energy, a testament to its delightfully eclectic style. The staff extends warmth and hospitality that feels genuine and welcoming, making guests feel at home from the outset. The lobby is a veritable treasure trove, offering a rotating selection of complimentary indulgences including cookies, candy, cheese, and wine, enhancing the allure of this unique haven. Additionally, the availability of a complimentary full bar throughout the day caters to those looking for a more spirited refreshment. The rooms are a harmonious blend of exquisite design and comforting charm, creating a restful and pleasing environment. Each space is meticulously curated, showcasing a keen eye for detail and a commitment to guest satisfaction. However, the pinnacle of our experience was undoubtedly the gourmet breakfast served daily. The menu features fresh-baked croissants, a delectable assortment of cheeses and meats, and a range of made-to-order specialties including eggs, Dutch pancakes, and French toast. To complement the culinary delights, guests can savor the most amazing coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice, a blissful start to the day. It is difficult to encapsulate in words the myriad positive aspects of this establishment. From the impeccable service to the superb culinary offerings and the enchanting surroundings, every detail is designed with the utmost care to ensure a memorable stay. Our experience was imbued with moments of joy and luxury that make it easy to wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to any traveler seeking a sanctuary of comfort and style.

Trip Date November 2019|We had a wonderful time at the Banks Mansion a very warm and welcoming hotel and enjoyed the afternoon nibbles and wine. The location was perfect and easy walking distance to all the main attractions. The staff were very helpful and Sandra brightened our mornings with a beautiful friendly smile, conversation and amazing omelettes.||I would recommend trying the Royal Thai restaurant at Lange Leidsedwarsstraat where the food was excellent, good portions, good service and reasonably prized..

A great hotel. Beautiful Art Deco design. Canal view rooms. All inclusive bar ( premium brands), sweets and treats, cheese board, (!) Minibar, the list goes on. Just a great hotel. Lovely service. Right at the centre. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great hotel, well located w fully stocked 24 h bar and "reasonable" for Europe. Breakfast included as is wine and cheese 5-6 pm. Snacks for free in lobby all day. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Organizing a taxi through the r hotel is sometimes cheaper than uber and in a Mercedes. Close to the flower market and Rijksmuseum. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Banks Mansion is a memorable hotel with a great location on a canal, helpful staff, and unique added extras! The included breakfast was plentiful with eggs/ omelets, muesli, fruit, chicken sausage, breads, pastries, salad .... You get the idea! Many options. The chef serves with a smile. She has worked there 27 years and enjoys helping the guests. Wine and cheese hour, snacks, open bar all day. You need to experience it to believe it! We will recommend to all our friends.

Yelp
We booked this hotel for the last 3 nights for the end of an amazing Europe trip where everything else has been amazing (like check in early, bag in room). We were recommended this place in Brussels (sister hotel) and looked forward to a repeat experience. Come in here and less than hospitable, won't bring our bags to the room if we were to leave (will bag check), and everything else is basically self service. There is no 4 star hotel quality (which the rest of it was or above). You are wasting your time and money here. Self service bar, room is like a motel 6 and we booked above basic. If I come back to Amsterdam I will not be going to this place. Basic cleanliness is sorely lacking and the common areas are tired and unattended. The bar in your room is minimal at best. Book the hostel and save your money for a fine dining experience instead.

Yelp
We were here for 5 days and 4 nights. On the morning of our last day a woman from front desk called our room and told us check out was at 11 and basically get out! June 2023 Omg! Thank you so much for Jay, young man at front desk who said no, not to worry check out was noon. I also read this on the room card. My first time in Amsterdam and I'm so sad having to leave this way. NEVER have I been called and told to leave! We loved the people at breakfast who went above and beyond. Thank you.

Yelp
Fantastic top class Hotel! Centrally located in the canal district within just a block of Rembrandt square as well as the flower market and many other attractions like the RLD, Dam square and the museums. The room was very comfortable, the full bathroom was large with a huge tub with a separate large glass shower, we also had a separate 1/2 bathroom by the front entrance, 2 large comfy recliner chairs by the TV, large windows, super comfy bed - the slippers and bath robes were also a nice touch. The hotel has great Wi-Fi signal, the lobby is modern and also offers computers and ipads for people to use along with a fancy coffeemaker which prepares anything from Cappuccinos to Hot Chocolate, the lobby also had a beautiful fireplace, comfy chairs and plenty of magazines. This is an all inclusive hotel - the rooms have 3 full decanters (Whisky, Gin and I believe Brandy) and a stocked mini-fridge with snacks, plus a 24/7 help yourself fully stocked bar at the lobby with a fridge full of Becks beer, wines, and liquors, lots of variety including Baileys and regular juice and drinks. To top it off they also offer a Happy Hour in the afternoon and serve cold meats, crackers, biscuits, cheese cuts and other accompaniments. The staff is extremely professional and very helpful, they definitely made us feel at home. The breakfast (also included) was just as spectacular, they have a ton of variety including an omelette station, eggs any way you want them, lot of fresh breads, hams, cheeses, pancakes, more cheese, cereals, yogurts, waffles, fruits, bacon, croissants, OJ, and pastries, I don't think we could have found a better breakfast at a restaurant, and the breakfast staff was lovely and very accommodating. We rented bikes from a local shop and had an amazing time exploring Amsterdam by bike, but the best part is that anytime we wanted to grab a drink or take a quick rest we could easily bike right back to the hotel since its so centrally located. I loved the all inclusive concept! So refreshing and welcome! We most definitely will return to the Banks Mansion.

Yelp
If I could've stayed here for just even one more night in downtown Amsterdam, I definitely would've, but our schedule was so busy shuffling from Bonn to Cologne to Leverkusen that if you don't have much time, you should book this place because they go above and beyond to make your experience an amazing one! My top reasons as to why I'd return: 1.) The alcohol is all inclusive and includes a good pour of cognac, gin and whiskey PER ROOM along with happy hour during select times for wine + cheese + olives. There's coffee, tea, liquor and beer that is accessible 24/7, so you already know this was my favorite spot to hang with my family after a canal tour, visiting Ann Frank House & Rrembrandt museum. 2.) Breakfast is included & absolutely phenomenal, very Dutch and the way I'd eat if I had more time in the morning before work to put together a small plate of cured meats and cheeses on bread with fresh fruit + granola. If that's not your cup of tea, there's an omelet/waffle station along with a juicer where you throw in a couple oranges and watch the gears crank & transform it into orange juice within a minute (pretty mesmerizing & magical)! 3.) The décor and precision in the lobby with fresh flowers and cozy fireplace as well as stellar customer service was really the icing on the cake. Shout out to Mickey for his kindness and beautiful smile! 4.) All three of our rooms were spacious, especially surprising because of expensive real estate and apartments in general are already so tiny in Amsterdam & our beds were so comfortable with what I thought was a large bathroom! I want to come back so badly in a couple years to see family during springtime when they have tulips blooming! 5.) You pay equivalent to +$250 - $300/night in the US without any alcohol or breakfast included, so that's only downside of staying here - you'll be permanently spoiled!!

Yelp
Banks Mansion was a very enjoyable home away from home. The hotel was clean, the beds were very comfortable, room was very spacious, location was perfect and the inclusions made it worth the extra $. -Our view was great, we had 6 huge windows in our room that all opened up with a view of the canals below. - As other reviews state, there is a full bar with a coffee machine in the lobby, and a minibar in the room stocked with beer, water and some other drinks. Wine is available in the lobby from 4 or 5 pm to midnight- just serve yourself. From 5-6 every night there was also some type of snack, for example, cheese plates and crackers. - The included breakfasts are really good for hotel breakfasts- it includes the typical spread of meats, breads and cheeses but also includes a warm cooking station where you can custom order omelets or pancakes or french toast (available 7 to 10:30AM). Awesome fresh squeezed orange juice and a coffee machine. -Location was key. It was close to so many restaurants, bars, the flower market. It was very close to a tram to Central station- just jump on the 24 line and take it to the end. You can even purchase tickets directly from the front desk. We did have an issue one day with the power going out, but they were doing construction further down the block and several buildings went out. I would go out of my way to stay at another Carlton Hotel collection (they have several) based upon my experience at the Banks Mansion Amsterdam location.

Yelp
TL/DR - Unaccommodating on canceling final night of a 3 night reservation, ended up canceling whole reservation in order to save a having to pay for the highest priced last night of the reservation. The staff is not the greatest and could use some training on communicating with guests. Review: We were booked three nights with two rooms last week and had one member of our party get sick so we were going to leave Amsterdam a day early. When we were checking in we indicated that we would only need the rooms for the first two nights of the reservation and not the last night. This is when we were told about their cancellation policy for their reservations. We were told since we were checking in we would have to pay for the entire reservation. In order to modify the reservation we would have had to call in 48 hours before the check in time to modify it and since we did not we would need to pay for the final night. We were told by the staff member that this was in the email that was sent to us when we confirmed the room. I then pulled up the email and showed the policy to the staff member which is as follows: "Your reservation may be cancelled till 2 days prior to arrival before 15:00 hours. Cancellations after this time or in case of a no show a charge of the costs of the first room night will incur." I asked where it said that no modifications could be made to a reservation and I also asked since it was the 3rd night of the reservation that we were trying to cancel were we still not more than 48 hours out. The staff member and the manager were very unaccommodating and said that this was their rule so we would have to pay for the 3rd night. The rates on the rooms were 350E first night, 400E second night, and 480E for the third night. So when I asked about the policy if we just canceled the whole stay we would only be charged for the first night and not the last night the manager stated that is correct, then said since we were already at the hotel we should stay there and pay the 480E for the unused 3rd night and said it would be difficult for us to find a room some place else in Amsterdam. At this point we went ahead and canceled our entire reservation and will deal with the fee they are trying to charge for the first night. We were able to find nice rooms at a Hilton property and while the food was not included they were about 100E cheaper each night per room so it more than paid for food and drinks. The hotel lobby at the Banks Mansions was not as nice as shown in the photos it is definitely well used and in need of some maintenance. We did not get a chance to see inside the rooms though. If you choose to stay here be careful of their unpublished cancellation policy it will bite you in the behind even if you are sick and need to cancel a night of your stay.

Yelp
This boutique hotel is worth ever penny. Located right next to the lovely stream where people are enjoying themselves and just a block away from a ton of action, this hotel is perfect when visiting Amsterdam. After returning from dinner, we helped ourselves to some complimentary wine and champagne and played some games in the lobby whilst others were enjoying themselves as well. We enjoyed our bottle of wine in our rooms and loved the breakfast in the morning. Classic hotel breakfast that tastes delicious and isn't cheap. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is honestly my favorite part. If you don't want to stay at a big name chain, Banks Mansion is the place for you.

Yelp
We stayed in Amsterdam for 3 nights in July 2017 and had a great experience. I booked online on HotelTonight and really the only downpoint of the stay is that we weren't allowed early check-in despite it being granted for another couple also checking in at the same time...not a super big deal but we were exhausted as this was at the end of a long trip (we had just come from Paris and Dusseldorf). Otherwise, everyone at the hotel was super nice and helpful! Key points: THE GOOD: - All inclusive hotel! We had 3 decanters in the room (whiskey, gin...) and there was an extensive bar in the lobby. There was also tea and coffee downstairs along with snacks, mints, and a fridge full of soda, juices and water bottles (flat and sparkling). ALL FREE! (Well included in the room rate, but still...) - Complimentary hot breakfast (with pastries, fruit, and OMELETTE STATION!!!) - Great bathroom -- nice big rainfall shower with a huge mirror and plenty of space. - Comfortable bed - Wine and cheese in the lobby at 5 PM - Super centrally located! Really close to Rembrandtsplein and major canals (not too far away from the other districts as well) THE MEH: - Rooms were somewhat small, but not so much that we were uncomfortable. OVERALL: Great experience and I would certainly stay again next time we're in Amsterdam!!!

Yelp
This small but wonderful hotel is located in a great spot in Amsterdam, with a tram right outside, the Tulip market just down the street and bars and restaurants within a very short walk. The room, which was a good size for any city hotel room, was clean and well stocked. Breakfast each day was amazing, with custom made eggs/omelets, pancakes, waffles, and a full variety of breakfast items. Early AM newspapers are provided. The staff is very friendly and accommodating throughout the property. The 'all inclusive' concept is great, there's always water, juice and soda available (grab a bottle of water on your way out) and the afternoon/evening cocktails, beer and wine are great...but the bitterballen were to die for. Always a good nibble in the evening, but those were amazing!! This will be my home away from home whenever I'm back in Amsterdam.

Yelp
Leaving with a bad taste in my mouth. I had got a bike through the hotel. When getting bike just told me to sign this piece of paper. Never explained it or to make sure I read it. No insurance was offered. They just unlocked the bike for you and give it. No clear instructions on how to lock or unlock or what happens if you don't. Long story short the bike got stolen at a park and they are holding me liable and charging me $550 for their crappy bike not even worth $100. Talked to manager who wasn't helpful and she said I have no common sense. Which is very rude and that's No way to run a business or talk to guest. They offered no help. Definitely will tell everyone I know not to stay here .

Yelp
The first time at Banks Mansion was wonderful. Staff was nice and hotel was amazing, plus the canal views were one of a kind. This second stay however was terrible. I ended up having to sleep on the floor! When I was booking his hotel, I had specifically requested two separate beds since it was my brother, who was unfortunately sick with the flu, and I staying in the same room. Upon arrival, they let us know that two beds were not available. They did not bother to call us to let us know ahead of time that the room we requested was not available. Instead, they let us know as we are checking in. Now, my brother and I are two grown adults, I do not want to be sharing a full sized bed with him while he is sick with the flu. Trying not to get upset, I tried coming up with solutions around this frustrating issue and asked if I could have a portable bed sent to the room but that request was denied due to "safety" reasons. We inquired about another available room with two beds and of course they were fully booked. So after some time of trying to come up with a solution, the best way they could accommodate me was to offer me extra blankets and pillows for the floor. THE FLOOR. As you may all know by now, this hotel is not cheap so to be paying full price for the WRONG room only to sleep on the FLOOR was ridiculous. Lack of resources and unable to come up with a better solution other than the floor is poor service. Will not be returning ever again and you should reconsider staying here as well. Or at least make sure you are getting the room you requested and are paying for.

Yelp
What a gem in such a beautiful city. The staff is fabulous and always willing to help you find a good restaurant or shops. The rooms are beautiful with cozy plush bedding! The breakfast which is included is delicious with yummy egg dishes, waffles, fresh fruit, fabulous coffee and homemade breads. Each evening, there is a lovely happy hour with included alcohol, and cheese and cracker buffet in the lobby. Stay here! you will so glad you did!

Yelp
Banks Mansion is a superb hotel. It has a wonderful location in the heart of Amsterdam's city center with a short walk to most attractions. The staff are wonderful and ready to answer your questions and address your needs. The breakfast is great, and having the mini bar in the room and downstairs bar included in the rate was a nice treat.

Yelp
I had a reservation at Banks Mansion hotel for Saturday, March 14. Due to the Coranavirus outbreak I had to cancel my trip, since they are not allowing me to leave Madrid, a city in a state of alarm. Not only am I not allowed to leave the country but they don`t even allow me to leave the house. I contacted the hotel to inform them of my situation, asking for a refund or at least a possible date change, I was also prepared to pay any additional costs this could have incurred. This was the hotel's response: We are very familiar with the current situation but unfortunately we have to be strict with our cancellation policy and cannot offer an exception. Will you please let us know if you would need to confirm the cancellation? We will cancel the reservation and send you the invoice via e-mail. Given the exceptional situation we are experiencing, I asked them to make an exception, but they completely refused. Many hotels in my city are not only canceling and allowing changes at no extra cost, but they have also converted their rooms into hospitals to take care of the sick. This establishment has shown a complete lack of sensitivity and empathy with the situation. I will assume the loss of 200 euros for an overnight stay at your hotel that I couldn´t enjoy. My only hope is any potential clients will read this and reconsider booking considering their complete lack of customer care, its safe to say I would not recommend nor will I ever frequent this establishment.

Yelp
This place is definitely a botique hotel that I would recommend to anyone staying in Amsterdam! 1. The staff is exceptional. Each person we dealt with was willing to go above and beyond their job to help make our experience perfect whether it was suggesting bars, restaurants, or even walks / sights to see while in town. 2. Open bar 24/7! Help yourself to any liquor and / or beer at the bar in the lobby. Additonally, the rooms are stocked daily with booze, coffee, and snacks! 3. BREAKFAST! Everyday started great with a full continental breakfast but they also have an omelette / pancake / egg / French toast station! In the dining area there is also a fresh squeezed orange juice machine as well as a full service coffee maker - what a great way to start the day! BONUS: We also enjoyed the daily 5 o'clock wine and cheese. Yum! 4. Location location location! They are located near Rembrandt Square which allows ease walking from place to place throughout the city and is right on one of Amsterdam's primary canals. Bottom line? If you're looking for a beautiful, centrally located temporary home in Amsterdam with an exceptionaly helpful staff and excellent amenties, look no further than the Banks Mansion!

Yelp
If I could I'd give it 10 stars! We just returned from a 3 night stay and can't praise this hotel enough. We were given a canal view room, usually rooms with views also come with noise but this was perfect, double windows made for a quiet room and very pretty view. The hotel is very Art Deco-ish, wonderfully helpful staff and so many benefits it's hard to begin. The included breakfast was great, cooked to order eggs, pancakes, French toast, not to mention crispy bacon, sausages, yogurts and the list goes on. The location was excellent, close to several tram lines. Really nice evening get together in The Living Room each evening with self serve liquors, wines, snacks, in-room coffee maker and stroopwafels. Really can't think of a downside. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we will return. Thanks Banks Mansion for a wonderful stay.

Yelp
Banks Mansion was great! The staff is amazing and super helpful in regards to making you feel welcome, find great places to go and get tickets to attractions. The included breakfast was nice and had a staffed omelet station. They have soups, cheeses and desserts periodically out and free drinks in the lobby. The room was clean upon arrival and cleaned daily. The mini-fridge in the room is stocked daily and includes sodas, waters and a few alcoholic drinks (although there are always drinks in the lobby if you want more). The location is also hard to beat. One block from the flower market and we were able to walk to most other attractions including museums and dinners. We really felt welcome and enjoyed our stay here... No doubt that you won't regret choosing this little all inclusive welcoming hotel for your Amsterdam stay! Book it!

Yelp
The Banks Mansion is in a central area within the canal district halfway between the train station and the Heineken factory. It is a block or so from the popular Rembrandt square as well as the flower market. Although it is close to all these things, it also has a quiet homely feel to it. The Banks Mansion prides itself on its all inclusive offering. They have an exceptional breakfast served in the morning with a station to make omelets and any type of eggs you would like, pancakes. They have sausage and bacon and meats and cheeses as well as different fruit. You also have all day access to as much beer, wine and liquor you would like in the main lobby and free drinks and snacks in the rooms as well. The drinks in the mini bar being free was nice. snacks are fairly limited in the room. They also have three different types of liquor in the room. I believe it was cognac, gin and vodka. In the evening they also put out a meat and cheese platter in the lobby. They also have a computer with a printer available and iPads scattered throughout the lobby for use my guests. The room was great, clean and comfortable and they had a great rain shower in the bathroom with a steam option from a vent in the shower. It was unique and another great small thing about the Banks Mansion. The staff were all very friendly and helpful at all times and I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when I am in Amsterdam.

Yelp
This hotel is a bit of a boutique - small but cozy, clean, and comfortable. We chose this hotel because of its location. This hotel is situated in the museumplein neighborhood, right over one of the lovely canals - you can request a canal side room for pretty picturesque views. The rooms themselves are quite small, but functional. Everything you need is available but there isn't a lot of extra space. The rooms are clean and cozy, with good sized bathrooms and fresh towels. The water pressure in the showers is good, but the hot water is a bit uneven - we got random bursts of hotter water throughout the shower. The other part about this hotel that is useful is that it is all inclusive. The rooms have mini fridges stocked with basic drinks (alcoholic and non) that are all included in your room price. There are wine and cheese samplings (all free) daily in the lobby (or living area as they call it) as well as free breakfast every morning and drinks in the lobby 24/7. At the very minimum it's very nice to have bottled water available when you get in late. All in all great hotel, fantastic customer service (the front desk provided maps, directions, advice, and books restaurant reservations for us).

Yelp
Very nice and friendly hotel with a great location. All inclusive, in that breakfast and evening drinks are included (wifi is also free - and fast). Same goes for the minibar and liquor in the rooms. Nice views, fantastic shower. Staff is helpful. Lovely cheese service in the evening!

Yelp
Hotel Bank Mansion, very nice cleaned. Great breakfast. Friendly staff from the front desk to housekeeping. Were not a drinker. But its nice to have that option.the hotel centrally located. Walking distance to everything, food, shopping, the canal. Just very romantic. Beds are comfortable. Would not mind staying here again.

Yelp
We stayed at Banks Mansion from 8/25-8/31/14 during the World Rowing Championships and it was way beyond my (lofty) expectations. The staff, the amenities and location all are as good as it gets. An all inclusive hotel that has an open bar (free); a breakfast that would make Crackerbarrell jealous (free); and an in-room honor bar restocked daily (free) is just the tip of the iceberg for this incredibly high standard hotel that sets the bar no other hotel I've stayed in can match. I've traveled for business for 44 years and this was a new standard for excellence. Make no mistake about your stay here; you will not want to leave.

Yelp
A wonderful location, is this Hotel. Trams close , water tours , water taxis , museums ,. Many places of entertainment. The Banks Manison is above most hotels in the area. Helpful Staff,. Comfortable lounge with plenty of snacks and drinks. The rooms are modern , restful and the mini bar is filled . Most Delightful.

Yelp
We checked back in having left Amsterdam for a few days, and the Banks Mansion was just as welcoming as we left it. The staff is wonderful and orient's their guests to the hotel and surroundings as part of the check-in process. Kim in particular, was most attentive, professional, and made us feel like honored guests. The hotel is clean, quiet, contemporary (modern mission) with beverages and snacks in the lobby and rooms, and a full breakfast. Ideally situated in the center of the 3 canal rings, arts and shopping are an easy walk. We most highly recommend this hotel!

Kori W.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely amazing. From the moment we checked in to the moment we picked up our luggage to leave, everything was perfect. From our large room overlooking a canal and the amazing breakfast to the perfect location, this hotel was a dream come true. Just in front of the Rembrandt Square and within walking distance of everything worth seeing, this hotel was the best. I only wish we had gotten to stay more than one night.

Yelp
Took my first trip to Amsterdam last November because, Hey(!) Amsterdam in November sounds lovely, right? Well, actually, yes. For some reason, I don't know, maybe I had practiced a few random acts of kindness the weeks before, the weather was lovely; partly sunny and about 60. Amsterdam itself, by the way, rocks. Compact, historic, architecturally pleasing city center crisscrossed by lovely canals, flowers markets, hundreds of fantastic restaurants and helpful, friendly locals. The Banks Mansion proved to be an intuitive and solid choice. Set on the lovely Herengracht Canal, this venerable old building has been nicely modified into a hip hotel. No, the linens aren't Frette and the lift is tight. However, the room was incredibly large, well furnished with a modern, polished bathroom. The breakfast, which was included, was more than ample and the coffee was spot on. The staff was cool and pleasant. The rate included unlimited use of top shelf booze in your room (provided in crystal decanters) and a first rate happy hour(s) in the chic, cozy lounge. The Happy Hour provided beer, wine, champagne, and incredible regional cheeses. Sure, you could stay at the Amstel Intercontinental, which for the record IS truly lovely, but to get a bang for your buck and a good central locale to boot, you would be hard pressed to find something better than Banks.

Yelp
Best experience ever on our 16 day tour of Norway and Holland. Very delightful. Elmo was particularly welcoming. We will return on our next visit. Thank you!!!

Yelp
After coming back from an almost flawless 3 week European holiday, I have been compelled to write my first review. My BFF and I were traveling Europe to celebrate my birthday & his continued business success, thus sparing no expense. After traveling Barcelona & Mallorca we found ourselves in AMS. We were here for 6 nights & broke up this leg by staying at a different hotel for the first 3 (Hotel V Nesplain...two thumbs up)! Because we had to check out there, we checked into Banks prior to their 3 pm check in time. No biggie...figured that and they held our luggage while we went shopping. Come back later & the one guy who checked us in was extremely interested in what was in my friends large bin. Explained it was an electric skateboard & he even pulled it out for him to show him how it works. Fast forward, we have an amazing time in AMS and we're getting ready to leave the next day. We had a late flight so early that morning we asked for a late check out. They had to see what they could do but would call us to let us know. This guy called back saying they could do until 1:00 gratis but 50 euro for each additional hour we stayed and I thanked him. Relying on this, we plan to leave around 3 pm and are slowly getting ready. At 1:15 we get the first phone phone call telling us "you need to leave now." I tried explaining we were told we could stay for 50 euros/hour but he was not having it. Around 1:45, and 3 phone calls later, we get a bang at the door. It's a female employee who is demanding we leave while telling us that we're lying because she's the only person the guy could've talked to & she didn't give anyone permission. Again, rather than argue we just explained that we're rushing as quickly as possible & continued packing. We're finally checking out & while reviewing our bill and making small talk with the female from earlier, she non-chalantly tells us "he asked her colleague...forgot he was here." END SENTENCE. I understand English isn't their first language so I'm hoping the way we were being told to leave sounded a lot worse from their true intent; HOWEVER, not even apologizing when you're wrong AND were rude about it is totally unacceptable. So now we have an hour to kill & I didn't even want to leave our luggage there but what are you gonna do. We get back & my friend is outside smoking while I go in to gather the luggage. THE BEST PART!?!?! What seems like the entire staff just looked at me while they dropped it on the ground inside the hotel. No offer whatsoever to help bring it outside and literally downstairs. I carried what I could while my friend went in to grab the rest. Only then did the young guy offer to help carry the bin because he knew the electric skateboard was in there! Here's the deal. It's a nice hotel, but if you're under 50 stay away. Based on my past experience, the level of customer service you receive typically correlates with the level of hotel. Banks Mansion proved me wrong. Perhaps you receive different service if you're over that age threshold...who knows. I honestly don't think the staff could handle the lifestyles of two 36 year olds enjoying AMS, and we were VERY tame! It's in a great location, but they have to ring you in after 8 pm, which I get but it becomes annoying. They have an open bar 24/7 plus food at 5 and 6 pm, but room service is lacking. The room while cozy was small and it felt like it belonged in an old country club. Again, it is a nice hotel, BUUUUUUT if you don't want to be subjected to reverse ageism or just want a cooler vibe & experience there are a ton of options rather than Banks Mansion.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Banks for four nights in April, 2017. We found every member of the staff to be welcoming and truly interested in making our stay perfect. Centrally located to the canal district. They lose one star due to the oddly positioned shower control that made every shower a temperature adventure!

Yelp
Great hotel with extremely stylish and comfortable rooms with your choice of pillows and top notch customer service. Free flowing wine daily! In the center of everything. I would stay again

Yelp
I don't know how you could give this place anything but 5 stars. Nicely decorated, comfortable rooms (and they nice sized for European rooms). Breakfast was great - omelet made to order by a great friendly staff. All inclusive so free drinks - both in the room and the lobby. They went out of the way to make us feel welcome without being snobby about it. Oh yeah - perfect location to split the difference between all the museums and dam square.

Yelp
Banks Mansion is how I believe the best inner city hotels should be everywhere! In summary, it is an exceptionally nice, clean place to stay while you are in Amsterdam. The room I had was comfortable and well appointed. The staff is friendly and helpful. In addition to all this, you will find plenty of pleasant surprises at every turn: full daily breakfast (at no additional charge) in basement, free drinks in the lobby every evening, a free room bar, free wifi Internet access, happy staff members, and a departing Dutch gift (if you booked your stay online). Best of all, the location is central and close to almost everything you'll want to see in town.

Yelp
I would give this place 2 stars for the lousy beds. The rooms were nice but small. The breakfast was below average. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. Free drinks and food always out. I would like to give this place a higher rating but it has flaws that need addressing like new mattresses and new cooks for the breakfast.

Yelp
You really can't ask for more than what the Banks Mansion provides. Free drinks, nightly cheese and other appetizers, clean and comfortable rooms (and beds), centrally located, friendly and helpful staff. All for a very reasonable price. I wouldn't bother to stay anywhere else inA'dam.

Yelp
Perfect stay. The rooms are a bit small, but still reasonable. The all inclusive is a great touch, it was excellent to have something to drink on your way out or on your way back, i.e. bottles of water, sodas, beers, liquor, cheese and cheesecake in the afternoons, all in the lobby. Stroopwafels out to take with you if you want and the breakfast was very good, full options, hot and cold. We didn't drink, but the options of liquor in your room are nice too. Also the iPads and computer out in the lobby is nice to let you relax, etc. The perfect part though and the seller to us was the ability to walk everywhere, very reasonable to get around from Banks and you're situated right on a canal. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Excellent choice.

Yelp
We had a truly memorable stay here. Location is excellent. Walking distance to everything but not right in the middle of all the tourist noise and mess. The staff is friendly and professional. Room was clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. Free mini bar was a great perk! The best thing about the hotel as others have mentioned is the downstairs bar and sitting area..loved it! Breakfast is also fantastic! A+

Yelp
I LOVE this hotel. Great location, amazing staff (thank you, Kim!), boutique, slightly quirky, like having your own room in a house full of friendly strangers who become friends. 24-hour open bar with coffee, drinks, snacks... great breakfast, classy minibar in room (old fashioned decanters with gin, whisky, and cognac, plus a nespresso), and near everything. And everything included with room. Think Kimpton, but maybe even more fun.

Yelp
Very excellent hotel and really all you can ask of a hotel plus more. Great location, canal views, near public transport, helpful staff, friendly staff, beautiful spacious rooms, great lobby area with firplace. And did I mention the honor bar in the lobby. You a beer or two? A mixed drink? Glass or two of wine??? All here for you. Plus snacks. Looking forward to a revisit.

Yelp
i don't want you to come here- nope! Not at all! If you can speak English and are an ass I don't want you here- i want this kept as a secret. No ugly Americans, no bad UK people. This is a great place and I don't want you here- EVER! I'm torn- I want to rave and then I don't want anyone else here. The staff are out of this world. I hurt my back here and these people, from front staff to maids, were wonderful! Went out of their way. When I came back here after back surgery- they upgraded my room and gave me a personal note that would make anyone cry- "we are happy you are back here"- I love this place. So, if you are an obnoxious anyone, don't come here- I want only nice people here- because the people who run this place deserve only nice people. Thank you Banks Mansion for being so wonderful (but not if you suck- then you want to stay somewhere else).

Yelp
The perfect hotel choice in Amsterdam. This place has everything we look for in a hotel-very clean and quiet room with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom, extremely friendly and knowledgable staff, free cooked to order breakfast, great location, and lots and lots of freebies. You get the equivalent of a very nice executive lounge without the extra cost. We were very glad we chose this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
