Banner Desert Medical Center

My four year old grandson was admitted to the pediatric floor at this hospital and I can’t say enough how impressed I was. They have a play area on the floor that the kids can go play video games, board games, dollhouse, car track, puzzles, Play-Doh, painting & lots of things to keep kids entertained so they are not trapped in their room all day. The best part was the nurses came find you for vitals or meds. I highly recommend this hospital. Everybody was very sweet and took the time to make sure that we were all happy, comfortable and we received great medical care!!

My mother went into the hospital for kidney pains and came home with brain damage! She was administered Narcan the following morning after being admitted to their facility. I suspect a nurse mixed up her chart with another patient, and on top of her dose of morphine for pain management she was given another dose of morphine or something else. They then discovered her brain has blood on day 3. Moved her to the brains specialty area of the hospital well doing absolutely nothing on day 4. On day 5 I get a phone call not from a medical professional but from my very confused mother at 2 AM her speech is slurred, and she is talking slow saying my brain is bleeding again. I immediately call to ask questions, and am told well they don't know for sure yet, but her nurse thinks maybe a seizure happened at just after midnight. Then on day 6 without ever explaining a single thing they discharge her with no instructions, no supplies, and not even a single medication. I had one page that had a medication list pretty much was the extent of her discharge papers with the rest being a very generic print out of warnings for patients on blood thinners, and opiates. I call the pharmacy after a google search reveled failing to take one medication in particular significantly increases the risk of permanent brain damage. They cannot get it for two days, and advise me to start calling around asking other pharmacies if they can fix the mistake of the hospital not doing their job and completely discharging her unsafely. I find out through a pharmacist at a hub that her medication is not in stock at a single pharmacy throughout the metro area. My only option is to wait for banner to order a medication that she should have not been able to be discharged until they had it in their possession. It ended up being 4 days without crucial medication to prevent further brain damage before the ordered medication was available. They also turned around and claimed it isn't their fault they had to use Narcan because suddenly now despite numerous medical events involving opioids over her lifetime without issues they are saying she has opioid sensitivity and as of the event on day two she had a protocol initiated that no opioids of any kind could be given to her. She did however have a surgical procedure for the original problem of kidney pain on day 3 where in her medical records it clearly says they used fentanyl for sedation without issues. Clearly they are lying about how their negligence resulted in an accidental overdose on day two, but even if their fabricated story were true they would be negligent for ordering a protocol where no opiates where supposed to be used going forward only to give her fentanyl the very next day. Now she cannot even have pain medication after surgery in addition to the brain damage caused by their blatant negligence and outright lies.

My brother was in ICU at this facility, his nurse Riye had an excellent bedside manner & was compassionate. Honestly it was refreshing. Our family was traveling in from out of town. I looked at the reviews for this hospital & I was worried. Then there was Taylor, what a angel. Explained our options compassionately and she didn't rush us. Losing my brother was extremely hard but there compassion & understanding was so appreciated. I would have given them 5 stars but the security guard, man you know what you did.🤷🏾‍♀️

Described my symptoms and I was sent to the back waited an hour and they wanted to test me for RSV then the nurse said Covid! I said no because I came in for back hurting and throat hurting, and coughing I declined because I’m a carrier for Covid. I also came in for a bladder leak as embarrassing as it sounds I have a lot of babies and since I got Fixed I’ve noticed it more. Nobody told me about it and so I wear a pad everyday. And it’s irritating sometimes but the doctor said take an allergy pill and it should clear up! I said an Allergy pill? Really? My chest was hurting and no X-rays nothing. I didn’t feel like they took me seriously because of them all being lazy and nurses just sitting around doing nothing. This place really needs more people for sure. I feel sorry for some of the patients and staff that just don’t know what to do but sit around.

If you love your family member…Don’t take them to this hospital! My sister was 37 and was pronounced dead there and now one of my best friends sons who was only 27 was pronounced dead there as well! The facility doesn’t have new aged technology/equipment and the doctors and nurses have very little experience and no bedside manner at all! I also had a friend check himself out of there because he said if he stayed he probably would of died.

Absolutely terrible experience in the ER! Took my 2 year old son after he had a nasty fall and has some serious injuries. We waited for 1.5 hours before we were seen, and then sat in the room for 3 more hours with barely anyone coming in to check on him. My husband had to go find a doctor because we waited so long. They said there was nothing they could really do. We also received conflicting advice from all the nurses and the one doctor we saw about whether he needed an Xray or not. When we finally did get the Xray done, the Xray tech didn't even bother asking if I was pregnant or not since you're not supposed to be in the room if you are pregnant. He was about to take it when I stopped him and asked if it was safe for me to be in the room and then told me no and to get out. Good thing I stopped him. Then they finally came in and discharged us even though we had asked them to clean up one of his wounds and dress it since it was still open. They reluctantly said ok and barely cleaned it and sent us on our way. Suddenly I got a call today that there are 2 prescriptions at their pharmacy that we need to go pick up. We were not informed of any medications/ointments that he needed. Would never return to this location. Also I am definitely sick, and am sure I picked it up from the hospital (which I understand...it is full of sick people) but it just makes me wonder how well they clean the rooms and the lobby.

My 51-yr-old son suffered a stroke and was taken there by ambulance. Thank our lucky stars! Based on the severity of his stroke, the outlook was initially as grim as imagineable; however, after four weeks in ICU 2-D there, he was transferred to another hospital for recovery and has made unbelievable progress. The staff could not be more caring, compassionate, competent, or dedicated. They are endlessly kind to worried family. They listen. They observe and think. And they heal. The son we thought we'd lost is almost ready to come home with us. I recommend the facility without any reservation.

At the end of December on the 30th to be exact I had one of the worst weeks of my entire life. I ended up at Banner Desert Medical Center by ambulance. From side to side and top down Banner Desert Medical Center showed me compassion, patience, professionalism, and the demonstration of how a hospital should provide care. I felt loved. The people, working at Banner Desert Medical Center didn't just work there to have a job, they were part of something bigger. They take their job seriously at Banner Desert Medical Center. They are not just a run of the mill cookie cutter hospital, they are something special. My road to full recovery might be a while but I want to thank Banner Desert Medical Center from the bottom of my heart, thank you! To every tech, every nurse, every doctor, everyone, thank you.

Banner Desert has the best people I have ever met. from the emergency room to discharge we encountered the smartest, kindest, most professional, and encouraging people I have ever met. The ER, Neurology ICU, 2nd floor, and 4th floor, every single nurse, student, aide, and doctor was encouraging and kind. we were supported and informed every step of the way. surgeon (amazing superhero) to gift shop volunteers, kind people in the elevator, they got us through the most painful times and I am forever grateful.

I'm writing this review in the hopes that it helps someone else out and because we have run out of options. I was admitted to Banner Desert for a ER visit alongside my husband. I requested to go to a closer hospital to our home (4 miles away), but ended up being taken to the furthest hospital from us in Mesa (12 miles away, which we would have never picked to go to due to poor past experiences with family members at this location). The "care" we received was disgraceful. In an incredibly vulnerable state and the scariest moment of my life, where someone needs compassion and care most, I was mocked by nursing staff, scolded for bodily functions that occurred that were out of my control (a nurse got mad at me for getting sick on her shoe, out of my control), and my family members were rudely treated by nursing staff (blonde young man with glasses and a woman with a brunette ponytail) when we were initially taken in. The nurses told us our parents had left and gone home, yet they were waiting anxiously in the waiting room for hours requesting info about our state. No one tried to let them know how we were for nearly 6 hours until my father brought my phone in to my husband who then texted my family how we were. We submitted an internal audit which came back with nothing but lackluster apology. Not only that, my husband was given things he didn't ask for medically, were charged an exorbitant amount for an IV (around $700 for a saline bag). On top of that, we were asked to sign a myriad of paperwork and asked for credit card information when we were not in a normal state while still in the ER, which felt incredibly unethical. I STILL do not have the paperwork I signed to this date and the entire Banner network of employees continue to be unhelpful. After weeks and weeks of going back and forth with Banner, we have received no help, no proper acknowledgement from management about our case, and have been brushed off. We wrote a lengthy statement about our experience and it feels like they didn't even read it. Unfortunately, they care more about their money than they do their patients. Avoid this hospital at all costs. They made a traumatic life event worse than it ever needed to be. Felt no empathy here.

Horrible care quality! My 74 year old father has been to Banner Desert 3 times within the last month for a low heart rate and atrial fibrillation. He has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) yet, after they interrogated the ICD, they said there are no events recorded. Clearly he had events so why is the ICD not recording them? Furthermore, why is the ICD not working to keep his heart rate up and in rhythm? Every X-ray, ultrasound, and CT scan has come back negative. During his last visit, my parents were told he needed to stay overnight for observations. My dad attempted to have a smoke break but was denied. They eventually gave him a nicotine patch at 8:00 the next morning. My 73 year old mother has severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and congestive heart failure and not once did they offer her a recliner in the 9 hours she waited until they could admit him. Once they had admitted my father, she asked if she could have a recliner and she was told they do not have any available and gave her a plastic chair. There were more than 10 available recliners nearby, including one in the next to theirs. It also took the staff over an hour to get them water and tea. The cafeteria was closed for cleaning so I offered to have food delivered to them. It was almost 10:00 so very difficult to find a place nearby that was not only open but on the delivery list. The staff finally found some sandwiches for them after they heard me on speaker phone. After the 24 hour observation, they told my parents his enzymes were normal so they released him. They never looked at his medication to see if there was an issue and sure enough, at least 2 of his medications should not be taken together. It is sad how hospitals have become corporate extensions that are more concerned with profit than upholding their hippocratic oath.

Still no help just generic reply to fill out more crap because they care lol did it twice now lol still no help I cannot believe it is this ridiculous and just plain ignorant that because my name was spelled wrong and corrected repeatedly I cannot get anything other then the runaround and go away reply because no one can spell my name correctly I can't get a follow up for my heart but the information is all correct for insurance for them to get PAID of course that's all good lol what a joke I'm just gonna start looking for someplace else to go for medical care it's obviously not gonna happen at banner

Went in for chest pains so they wanted to do blood tests so they put a IV in my left arm. The nurse Christian clearly was rushing and clearing inexperienced. Upon going back today and having to get an ultrasound done I find out they left me with DVT in my left arm as well as a deadly blood clot and was still released to go home even with them knowing . I work as a CNA and has to miss wages for 3 weeks or longer, and am in terrible pain! The staff acted like I did this to myself and told me it's because I have a clotting disorder that I've never been diagnosed with ! This is the worst hospital I've ever been in! And apparently MD Charlotte E. Petin PA says this happens all the time! Yes medical negligence happens here all the time! Never let them do your IV! if I didn't have to put a star on here I wouldn't have

My mom fell. We took her to the hospital at 11 pm. Her elbow is swollen has hematoma and she is in terrible pain. She is on blood thinners cause of her 4 strokes. Got in a room at midnight. After an hour in the room I caught some nurse and asked how soon we will see any medical personnel he said he doesn't know 40 min later nurse came took our info. 30 min later doctor came in took a look prescribed painkiller and ordered X-ray. The X-ray technician came pretty fast painkiller on the other hand took them a while to bring it. Now it's 4 am and we still waiting for the doctor to come and give us the results, cause even that the results is back over an hour ago nurse can't tell us anything about it.

Surgeon, anesthesiologist, surgery prep nurses, and surgical team were amazing. My review for them would be 5/5. The post op nurses in recovery stage 2 on were inattentive, unhelpful, and dangerous. Post ACL surgery, the stage 2 recovery nurse had me hopping with no support to get into a wheel chair while he stood and talked with another nurse down the hall, and had the gall to ask "you got it" after I had already hopped and sat down. This was extremely dangerous and a fall could have sent me right back to the OR. I wish I got his name, because I was fuming and this man should not be a nurse.

Horrible - unsure why anyone would knowingly go here. Nursing staff rude and lack basic bedside empathy,doctors either very overworked (25+) or have god complex questioning any other doctor's referring information as incorrect and then tries to guilt and SCARE you to go against medical advice. Ten years ago great hospital now-avoid unless complete emergency.

The only reason I can give one star is because of the kind people in registration and the initial check up that were very meticulous. I was already partially out of it due to the surging pain I was feeling all through my face and I remember stating several times that I'm sure it was a viral infection. They quickly ran swabs and blood tests but even people that came in after me were getting meds before me. I was in a room of 5 with a lady who every 5 mins would call her husband and only thing separating us was a curtain so it was like she was talking right in the ear that was causing me pain. I tried to be as kind as possible as I understand busy work environments. I started to get very frustrated when after finally speaking to a doctor at 11 pm he gave me a visual diagnosis that scared me and said he'd get some meds flowing for me. The nurses did not come and help me with meds so I waited until I saw the doctor walk by again he got on the nurses about making sure I got meds. I received meds at midnight. The nurse then walked in and handed me paperwork passed it as a viral infection I have to let pass instead of giving me a name for what it is. Now that I know what it is I'm highly disappointed that the same hospital I was born in could be of little to no service.

Guy who helped register was nice and apologetic about issues with electronic signing. As with most places Admitting is all electronic, which can be challenging for elderly to click the pin in certain spot & sign at the same time. String for pin was not long enough for left handed people. Making it very difficult to sign. It was very frustrated for my mom right before surgery when she is supposed to not stress out. Really should have another option to print, sign then admitting team can scan to system. We were directed to Surgery check in and then we were directed to Nuclear Medicine for scans prior to surgery. So far all staff has been friendly and patient. After surgery the was completed, the recovery nurse came to me in the surgery waiting room and gave me an update, then a short time later I was called back to see my mom. Everyone was great, and we are very happy with the care my mom was given. The surgery went very well. I checked out the Cafeteria while waiting for my mom's surgery to be completed. The cafeteria has a salad bar, drinks, snacks, a grill for burgers, Philly cheese steak, grilled cheese, turkey or vegie burgers. On certain days they have different types of food available in various stalls around the cafeteria- Italian, Chinese, sandwiches & soups. Something for everyone. I got a Philly Cheese steak and the amount of sauce, peppers and onions was soo good. Be sure to check out the Trains for Kids by Isabelle,(it is located in one of the outside courtyards that you can view from many windows) it was not running when we were there as it is too hot during the summer months. But you can still look at all the details and get lost in the villages. They also have several outside accessible courtyards that you can relax and just take your mind off the stresses of being in a hospital.

Worsted hospital ever! Do not go here unless you wanna bleed out, stay sick, or get sicker. When in with a torn stitches, bleeding through bandages..and was just moved from room to room for 2 hrs. Never saw a doctor, NEVER talked to a nurse about why I was there..and I bleed through my bandages twice while waiting and had to change them myself. Didn't recieve any help in almost 3 hrs, so I asked why and if I could just go home if they weren't gonna do anything. The last just said "Yup, gave me a paper to sign, and said, Have a nice day." I hope every doctor and nurse in that hospital catch covid.

worst experience ever until today, Imy dad was moved to icu today , I'm so glad to get him out of the w622 area where u will meet an evil man named Robert as your nurse tell him to go quit his job. he is no good at being a nurse at all but I will tell u who is , cc she's amazing ,kind ,organized ,soft spoken , and everything u can ever imagine a nurse being. I was pacing the floors all day waiting for this hospital to contact me I didn't call and bug them the way I wanted to but finally I gave in called and glad I did. my heart is at ease my dads finally comfortable , and resting. Ty so much cc in icu u are a true hero and a real nurse. u r the example that all nurses need to learn from. thank u so much. ;) Brandidukes

PROBLEM: My veins are small, i was poked NUMEROUS times by different nurses, even though I TOLD them i had small veins. a nurse finally used a butterfly needle and got the vein 1st try. Anesthesiologist was informed of theis by the nurse. TOO MUCH PAIN TO BE PUT THRU!!! PROBLEM: There was a maintenance worker come into the room while a nurse was trying for a vein and proceded to work on the issue. IT WAS WRONG OF HIM TO THINK THIS WAS OK!!! Instead of the nurse telling him to leave. i had to TELL HER to ask him to leave and she did. Because of him my anxiety started! Where was my privacy????? He came into my room with NO RESPECT!! He should not have been allowed in my room and the nurse should have said something, but she didnt. I was very upset the whole time i was there. I asked the nurse for a supervisor/manager, someone i can speak to about this issue. the nurse said she would get someone but never did. This was taken from tour website about the hospital "We are committed to providing our community with excellent patient care and are ranked as one of the top five hospitals in Phoenix, being recognized for eight high-performing specialties, according to U.S. News Best Regional Hospitals report." Excellent patient care I did not receive!!

My 79 year old step mother was on the surgical floor after having her colon reattached. The care was the worst of any hospital she or my dad have been in. They brought breakfast at 11:00 in the morning, cold! Didn't bring pain meds for over an hour and a 1/2 after they were due! Left her in chair with no call button and she had to get to bed on her own! Left in bathroom for 15-20 minutes after she pulled safety cord. These are unsafe practices!!! I realized nurses are overworked and under paid, but standard of care is necessary! Banner Baywood was great care, where she spent 22 days prior to this procedure! Doctors need to be aware of how patients are treated and need to use other hospitals if this hospital can't give patients the care they deserve and pay for! This hospital is rated low for a good reason!

Absolutely horrible! My mom a 60 year old women went into the ER tonight because her hands and arms were in so much pain, she called me crying 6 hours later saying "no doctor can see me they won't diagnose me". Now I'm going to pick her up after hours of no hope and not a clue what's wrong with her.

My mom was a transfer patient to this hospital. Housekeeping hardly comes by to sanitize rooms and clean. Hallways are always dirty it takes about a week before you see housekeepers clean. My mom was moved to Women's Tower, some RN's were not on same page as Provider(s). Provider would occasionally stop by & give updates, action plan, goals. The Nurses would sometimes have no idea, they came by. A few RN's would not offer any help, or do simple favors. They would say, they wound send a tech to do it. A few Techs were excellent in helping my mother with her cleaning of diaper, change pure-wicks, etc.

Well more than improvement you need to start again ; at least the Dr should resign not answering phone when you are waiting for patients; and offices outside in the A.Z heat

My brother fell out of bed today, a person walking by pionted him out to the nurse who supposedly came running. Bed alarm was going off. Super poor cleanliness, very poor care (today) sisters are NOT happy with brothers care.

Did they kill me? No. So they get a star for that. But did they help me? No. I fell and damaged my knee. I came in 10 hrs ago. In that time I got X-rays and a blood draw. That is all. I knew coming in this is a surgery so I didn't eat or drink. We still can't figure when to schedule or what's to be done in 10 hrs. I'm shocked. Btw I'm not saying skip all those code blues or code blacks that were being yelled. For the love help them but also for the love staff accordingly to help out the others that aren't blue or black. What was also sooo crazy was that there's a psych area and for hours I heard people screaming that they were going to kill all of us. No amount of my morphine was going to let me relax hearing that over and over! Unless I'm bleeding from my severed limb I'm not coming back! Quick update. I checked in on Mon at 9:30 am. I was discharged after forcing it on Tue at 6:30pm. For my jacked up knee the only care I received was a set of X-rays and finally I was able to get an MRI. I never saw anyone from Ortho. Not once. On check out, I had to ask for a set of crutches. I thought I would see someone, but no, they left me my crutches for me setup myself. There was 0 occupational therapy of things like, can you walk on crutches? Are they setup correctly? They even didn't send in my Rx to my pharmacist. After the my care why would I expect they had?! What a tragically sad experience at Banner Desert Hospital.

ZERO stars. Not one staff member was nice. They put a catheter in my 4, almost 5 month old!!! The first nurse said that "pediatricians are so dumb, don't listen to them." they didn't help us AT ALL. I trued to go find someone to check on our baby because they didn't come back when they said they would and I could only find one girl sleeping at the computer who wouldn't wake up!!!! terrible place. I will always recommend to go literally anywhere else

I'm only 19 and this was the first time I've ever been to a hospital without my family. I fell and hit my head and had to get 5 staples to my head. My parents only knew I was there through my location on my phone and immediately rushed there. They were told that they weren't permitted to see me and were given the wrong patient information and were told that I would be going to the morgue. Of course that was shocking as they wanted information about what happened but they wouldn't release anything and was told by staff that I refused to sign a release of information. Not a single person asked me to release any information as they lied to my parents and to me. I was awake for an hour asking to see my phone so that I could tell my parents what had happened. After 1+ hour I finally received my phone after asking for it over ten times and then proceeded to be yelled at by staff because my parents wanted to see me and were acting crazy as I was there from 8:30pm-1:30am in the morning with zero communication. I said I want to release information and she was extremely mocking and rude. This was a terrifying experience for me and there was only one nice woman who helped me eventually sign a release form. The staff was extremely rude and I would have given anything to go to a different hospital as my parents and I were treated terribly.

I came in with a concern for fluid in my lungs. They took my vitals and an EKG to verify I wasn't having a heart attack (which I already knew that, that wasn't my concern) and proceeded to have me sit back in the waiting room. I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours (I'm not exaggerating) and in terrible pain before saying fuck it and leaving. Only to be ignored by the front desk staff when requesting to have my name removed from the waiting list.

Until Today, I found out that this was the worst place my brother could have been taken care for, " Doctors" only care about themselves and no one else and they love to pressure to let go of your love ones, saying there nothing more to do just let them go, and disconnect them and move on and if you refuse they will continue and will put less effort to help your love ones to get better, and they will tell the nurses to put less effort on helping. My brother was here for almost 3 weeks because my parents insisted to them to please help him as much as they could but unfortunately when your in pain and suffering you don't see all the red flag I had to clean my brother most of the time and ask the nurses to change his face towels because he was starting to smell bad, and there answer was "oh yeah let me do that", why get a job or study for for something that you will give a F**k and you values out the door. We are human and all we want is understanding RIP Baby brother

If u have a autoimmune disease I suggest you go somewhere else they do not have rheumatologist of staff if u are admitted. They do not have enough staff and their Drs are overworked and most of them spend 5 minutes max with u. How they treat a whole floor full of patients in less than 1hour ??? I will never return here. Not even if I need a ambulance! I have had very horrible experience 5 out of 6 times I was admitted. I feel sorry for the nurses.

I came in a week ago last Monday and I'm still here. I came in with an infection in my foot and tried to tell them I can't be stuck in here because I have a pet at home so the dr decided not to do the surgery so back to my room I went til I agreed I would have the surgery and stay for the following days. Then they came up with I would need to go to a skilled facility so I can get my antibiotics via an IV or I would lose my foot if I went home. It's been 3 or 4 days since I've seen him. I've lost track of the days I've been here. So they have me set up for this facility but I've laid here all day today without being seen again today and I've had no IV in my arm all day, and why can't I go home? Another unaccomplished day. Just keep milking the ins. I feel like a prisoner. My foot feels fine.

Imagine going to the hospital with a loved one, your husband, your wife or your child to find out that the nurse in charge of the unit has only been a nurse for 3 months. Moreover, that same nurse is in charge of 4 different units at the same time! Imagine your mother laying in her own feces for over 3 hours because the hospital only provided one aid for 80 patients to save money (see attached). Units that don't have a secretary (HUC) so consults don't get called and patients sit there for days without seeing a doctor. Unless these conditions are up to your standard of care I would avoid banner desert hospital at all costs

i don't normally leave reviews like this but the lack of professionalism from this place is actually insane. i had a seizure a little over a month ago and scheduled an appointment that same week for an MRI at their imaging center and an EEG at their hospital (which idk why they didn't do that when i spent thousands there as a patient for 3 hours). so a month later (this past friday) i go in for my EEG (which you can only sleep 4-6 hours and i had to take off of work for) just to show up to be told i was never scheduled although i confirmed. then i get help at the desk to reschedule for tuesday (tomorrow). i call the same day to confirm and they can't even find me in their system although i was literally a patient there...just to be told they put in the wrong birthday for me after being on the phone with them for over 20 minutes after asking me if im sure i actually scheduled and called the right phone number... fast forward to today im on the phone with one person at scheduling getting my pre registration done, my phone is getting blown up by the same phone number. so after i finish pre-registering i get this text (attached below). how are you gonna cancel my appt while another receptionist just confirmed my appt and is registering me??? anyways so they're like yeah sorry we don't have any openings for over a week (after when i need them for with my neurologist). zero regard for my time or for the fact that i have no idea how i got my seizure and that it can happen again at any time. literally go anywhere else but banner, my nurses and doctor were super kind and understanding but scheduling is an absolute nightmare

do not under any circumstances let the phlebotomists draw you or a family member. if you do make sure you video it. My husband just had someone attempt to draw him and when she couldn't get him she tried to use a syringe to pull the blood out. when that didn't work she push a 20cc syringe full of air into his hand vein. WHAT??!!! What?!! She is trying to kill him. This place is a death trap.!!!!!!

After reading through the reviews, I was hesitant to go in to this hospital. I have severe back pain & was seen/scanned via MRI/diagnosed in 8 hours. The attending nurse was so kind and knowledgeable, answered every question with incredible clarity & gave me solutions for my problems. Everyone I came across was personable & made my visit less transactional than most hospital experiences. I don't intend on making the ER my hangout spot, but I would absolutely stop here if the need arises again.

The nurses at Banner facilities that I have come into contact with are not nurturing...their customer service is deplorable! This has happened to me at numerous facilities. Are they not being taken care of by Banner? not sure, but I do know the nurses at Dignity Health have always been much more caring not only to me as the patient but also to my family.

My husband received outstanding care. All the health care providers were extremely professional. I don't know all the names; however, Dr P. and Steven in ER, Bobbie, Regan, Jolene, Abby Jo, Meilou, Jackie, Tony, Dr. Prakash in ICU, Terra, Brenda, Dr. Jacoby in IR, Abby, Joe, and Dr. Das in Endoscopy. There were others involved. Mary in housekeeping was extremely cheerful. I give the highest rating. B. Chew

Didn't put anything they did for me on my records so when I went to the doctor today they thought I was lying!!

Did not mean to rate the facility But when I had a broken ankle in Nov 2022 you released me a little too soon after surgery, but the surgery all went fine. I just got out of Banner Ocotillo Medical Center with cancer issues in my lungs and I loved their doctors, nursing and other staff that communicated well and actual made significant process on my condition.

I had an utterly awful experience here. Was met with blank stares from the check in man while holding up a tablet for me to sign as I was doubled over in pain, no regard. I was quickly triaged and put into a room but then I sat there for HOURS with no one even just checking on me. My bed was not plugged in so I could not adjust it, I was given no blankets no pillows. I had to walk out of my room delirious just to ask for one. Also, they told me as soon as I entered the room I'd be given something for my pain and I didn't receive it until SIX HOURS LATER when I was BEING DISCHARGED. They had me pee in a cup and then did nothing with it. I'm not even kidding when I say it sat on the tray in my room and was still there as I left. A baby was stolen from the nursery. Woman in the room next to me profusely vomiting while crying out to the staff and to God for help. Wtf? The PA that was on my case was completely and utterly ridiculous. After reviewing my ultrasound results, he referred to my IUD as an IND (????) and then proceeded to tell me my ovaries looked good after i had just seen a 2.3cm cyst on my scan. I even mentioned it to him, and he denied there being anything there. He is clearly not knowledgeable on women's reproductive health and it seems like he wasn't even trying. They discharged me with a stack of papers that they couldn't even take the time to staple together. I ended up having to go to the ER once again less than a week later where they diagnosed the cyst. Save your time, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Honor health gave me the most incredible care I can't imagine ever going back to a banner facility for as long as I live. I walked out with no answers and still in pain. This is not the first bad experience I've had but man was this the WORST.

extremely unprofessional. lack of information and lack of courtesy. i'd give 0 stars if that was an option. 21 y/o male. denied me surgery and refused to work out a payment plan, expecting me to pay 5k upfront on a 2 day notice. they then proceeded to inform me of all poss negative side effects of not getting surgery. yet still refused to operate as according to them it was "urgent" but not an "emergency" ... whatever that means. all around bad experience, i ended up contacting a different facility and what do you know? i was operated on ;))

The care is good if they have good workers but when night shift comes, you may never get your medicine. I cried for 7 hours 3 nights in a row because "Louie" my nurse said"I'll think about it " when I asked him for my pain meds! They put you on lockdown so you can't even step outside.

I just took my mom who is 84yrs. old. To emergency. I was so impressed with all the staff! Very kind n nice. I was born in Mesa,AZ. In 1966 and have had my share of hospital experiences.I give them all A+

I WANT TO ENSURE THAT THIS IS NOT FOR CARDENS CHILDRENS CENTER. This is the regular Banner Desert ER. I haven't had the best experience with this ER. This is the closest hospital to my home, so I've been here a few times. Most recently I came in with abdominal pain 10/10 on the pain scale. They did a CT Scan (Without contrast) and said I was fine. Diagnosed me with IBS and told me to follow up with a GI Doctor. Visited the GI Doctor who mentioned both gallstones AND access fluid in my kidney and sent me for follow ups. Why wasn't this mentioned to me at the ER? Why was I told IBS and kicked on my way?

This place is seriously a waste of time! The lack of care and concern is apauling!!! I understand people come here looking for a "fix" but comeon. Its impossible to get any real relief at this hospital.How do they test you for the flu, confirm you have flu, but NOT have Tamiflu to prescribe? All you leave with is a bill and no real help!!! Save your time and money. It's cheaper to suffer at home than this mess of a hospital. It's clear the staff is uncaring, underpaid, and understaffed!!! Like this is a third-world country or something!!!!

I had my baby here in June of 2023, via repeat c-section. Everything went well, for the most part. The nurses were super nice, and were very supportive, except for one, who was just rude as all get out, and is the reason I am only giving 4 stars. Irina, a nighttime nurse was especially helpful, and was wonderful with my baby. Upon being discharged, they continued to call and check on me, and even when I went back to the ER due to bleeding from my incision, the staff was very helpful and reassuring. Also, shoutout to whoever cooks the food, I ate so well during my time at the hospital. I wish I could have given birth to my twins here. I can't speak for the rest of the hospital, but I will say that even when I came here for emergency services during my pregnancy, they were very helpful. The only sucky part is the wait times, but staff was great to me, and I would definitely have another baby here, should I ever get pregnant again. Thanks so much, Banner!

The medical care was fine. But the hospital is poorly run, understaffed, inefficient and inconsistent. Communication between departments was sketchy. They lost my personal meds because they didn't want them near me and transferred me to a different room (2hrs prior to surgery) without warning without returning my pills. The barcode on my wrist stopped working after they transferred me, which delayed labs and breathing treatments because the staff didn't want to type it in by hand because they get evaluated on their percentage of scanned patients. They didn't trust management to understand it was a system issue, so rather than put patient first they either refused to draw blood or wasted time trying work around that didn't work. It reminded me of how I've been treated by big banks and airlines.

Cero starts for Banner Health Dessert on Dobson Rd, Mesa, AZ. I am a licensed LNA with lots experience, in 2023 I worked here and in my training I had people who was not capable to teach like preceptors and my supervisor Reyna O RN told me that. Another supervisor told 5 people to teach me and none of them were capable to do it!. All those people made $30 - 35 Dls more every time for teaching for shift, Other woman who suppost to teach me, was telling me 1/4 and 3/4 gossiping with Nurses and PCT's SAD!!! :/. There is a Philippine MAFIA because the charge nurse at night time is Philippine all Philippine spoke their language, in workplace all night and in break room too, SO SAD!!! :/ I got headaches to hear all those losers!!! we are in America, we don't understand that language "English language is UNIVERSAL!! and I don't want to learn Tagalog neither!!! Period!!! English language is UNIVERSAL!!! Period!!! This department were next to Tele room. All who teach me in my training, none of those had teaching skills at all!! SAD!!! What un-professional woman Reyna O RN is!! She never had an smile in her face. She asked me for my batch back after my training I had in a month, I helped them to translate many times English to Spanish patients. They don't appreciate anything good. "They hired quantity people no quality people." I don't want to work for such a Hospital who doesn't care about his employees. I worked for the very best hospital now, and for ethical I can't say the name of the Hospital I work now, in the other hand, I talked with the HR manager, nice man, he said you can be re-hired, no I don't want to, they covered their back one another. They all kiss asses to each other SAD!!! :/. Reyna O RN told Unemployment wrong things and I didn't get my unemployment. All kissing b*%#s to each others. Karma is the lead!!. Run away from here as fast you can!! :/ :/ :/ :/ :/

I had to get a set of two vaccinations after an animal incident. I find myself getting billed twice as much for the second dose as the first dose despite having the same, if not fewer, services done for both. It's also absurd that it isn't easy to find both the hospital bill AND the physician bill. At least they're otherwise alright in regards to services that they do. Only in America. 2.5 out of 5.

I would not recommend Banner Desert's Emergency Department- you're better off at an Urgent Care or driving to a Phoenix or Chandler hospital. They had my husband sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours in excruciating pain because of a dislocated shoulder. No empathy or urgency from any of the medical staff and the medical personnel at the door scoffed when we requested a wheelchair at curbside because my husband couldn't walk with his arm hanging off. This place will dehumanize you in the process of trying to get help. The place lacks order, efficient processes and medical staff seem to think that being overworked by their employer is a free pass to be so cold towards patients. I hope this hospital makes major changes.

My Grandfather was admitted to this hospital. With a few exceptions this visit has been absolutely horrifying. We have been verbally abused by a doctor, refused treatment by another doctor, ignored repeatedly a nurse who also neglected to provide proper care risking further infection, and verbally accosted by a patient transporter. Recommend going to Chandler Regional instead.

The nurses behind the desk are rude and unprofessional. They made me feel like I was a bother and stupid for asking them questions. My fiancé was admitted into the ICU today, so I dealt with different nurses all day and they were all rude! I'm already having a hard time with what's going on and then to deal with that just really sucks. I went on here to see if other people were having the same issues and it looks like they are. Something needs to change.

Why would the biggest and busiest hospital in the hottest state of arizona discontinue providing valet parking? its an extremely needed service especially this time of the year as summer approaches. I'd really like to know why banner desert would do that? I guess they need more patients with heat related injuries and burn victims from the hot asphalt as people struggle to get into the building. If it doesn't make dollars it doesn't make sense. That's the banner motto!

The care we received was excellent. My 7 year-old son ended up having a corneal abrasion, and they took care of us right away. I recommend Banner Desert Medical Center for anyone who has to go to the emergency room

Great top quality care at the ER. Everyone was so helpful and caring. Nurses, Doctors, all staff. Very busy ER also . Took great care of my mother.
