First, the natural beauty is a 10/10. This lodge offers access to amazing views/sunsets/hikes/snorkeling/kayaking/weather. Saw bald eagles, island foxes and a bison. So many cool birds were in the trees by the patio. Second, the lodge itself is simple and lovely. I felt like the Banning family spent many happy times here and I was lucky to experience the place. Clean, cozy rooms with really comfortable beds. You won't find newly updated fixtures and bathrooms, but that's part of what is so great. Everything feels like it has a nice history and a high quality that is worth preserving. The library and shared areas are charming and comfortable and were my favorite part of our stay.

My wife and I had a fantastic long weekend here. The views from the lodge and our room were spectacular. We saw a roaming buffalo next to the harbor and a baby fox visited our door. The highlight was the staff, who made every effort to make us feel welcomed and were always up for driving us somewhere. Many times we were walking along the road and the shuttle stopped by to offer us a ride. It was also our anniversary so we were gifted a bottle of bubbly.

One of California’s best kept secrets. The Banning house, Santa Catalina Island so close to the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles yet so far away from city life. Fabulous views, rich history. The Banning brothers sold Catalina island to William Wrigley in 1919. Very pleasant staff. My favorite was “Diesel” (from Turkey) she spoke perfect English and was always there when I needed something. It’s very quiet and peaceful here so be prepared for peace and quiet.

Best cookies and friendliest staff on the island!||We stayed here 2 nights to finish off our Trans-Catalina Trail hike. I had misgivings at first, thinking we would manage fine at the campground, but this was worth it. We met so many interesting travelers over breakfast, wine & cheese, and fireside evenings in the library.

Love this place! The staff at the Banning House are incredibly hospitable and accommodating. I look forward to seeing Russ and Samantha every time I visit here. Staying at a Banning House is a great way to experience Catalina. On clear nights, you’ll see plenty of stars. The Vening house provides a view of both two harbors and cat Harbour. The cookies at the front desk are out of this world and the staff provides you with wine and cheese which is great touch. The banning house is an old place with lots of character and history. the friendly staff will even give you a shuttle ride to help save your legs when you don’t feel like hiking. 10/10 would stay here again!

The perfect weekend getaway for a married couple living in LA. So close, but feels like you're far away once there. The service and continental breakfast were excellent. Russel and Juanita were very helpful staff. The hotel staff are waiting for your as you get off the Catalina express to escort you to your hilltop room with amazing views, and a cozy fireplace. It's a nice trip back in time.

Spent one night at the Banning House Lodge, as others have noted, the only accommodation in Two Harbors. The service was wonderful (including a shuttle to the town), they offered a wine & cheese hour, and I was more than satisfied with the continental breakfast. However, there were a few things that took it down a star for me personally. (1) There is no wifi (or cell service) (2) The room does not have heat or AC so therefore they provide a space heater and fan respectively (3) The inner courtyard has bright lights the entire night and our room had a window facing this that did not have a curtain meaning we slept with light coming into the room (4) Infrastructure seemed a little worn / could use some fixing up

Had the best time! The views from the lodge were amazing and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Each night they had wine and cheese for the guests, and it was so nice to enjoy by the fire. Highly recommend this place for a weekend get away. Also you must try their fresh baked cookies!
