Amazing experience hike visiting the national park area. Beautiful property and Helania took great care of us. The pool was a great place to hang for a chill morning or evening. Highly recommend staying here!

We stayed in the Gardenia room. This b&b is the best kept secret in Maui. So quiet and peaceful, yet you can walk up the road into a cute town, and there’s a tequila distillery with fresh, delicious agave spirits directly next door (Waikulu Distillery). We did a few days in the resorts then ended here and are glad we did. Stargazing from the hot tub is like nothing ive ever seen before. We’ll be back!

Everything about this place is just amazing. You can view sunsets from the garden. We stayed at Bamboo studio - great for group of friends as it has 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. It was very clean, specious and very cosy. The grounds and pool were very nice. It was outside of the town so very peaceful but close to shops, restaurants and beach. Breakfast muffins were delicious - one of the best I ever had.

I recently visited Banyan B&B in Feb 2025 for a Women's Retreat. I've been to a handful of retreats, and I have to say that this was the best one I've been to. From the catering (Shoutout to Joe & Lauren from harmonious harvest located here in Maui) to the overall ambience here at the property. Immediately upon arrival at Banyan B&B, we were stepping into our own private oasis here on the island. Surrounded by birds singing, trees breathing, and comfortable accommodation. Helaina who manages the property was very attentive to me and the guests at the retreat, with everything & anything we needed. I am personally grateful for her as I was navigating a difficult time, and she showed nothing but kindness, patience, and compassion. Excited to return next year. See ya'll at the same time, same place! ;) Mahalo.

This has to be the best value in all of Maui. The Banyan room is so spacious and very nice/clean. There is no A/C, but it's such a perfect temperature overnight that sleeping with the windows open is very peaceful and refreshing. Breakfast was brought to the room every morning promptly at 6:50am and consisted of 1 hardboiled egg, 1 baked good (muffin, banana bread, croissant), 1 package of granola bar, and 1 yogurt. (All of this is per person in the room - we had 2 people so there was double of everything). There is a pool and hottub on the property and is very nice to use. Very short drive from the airport.

We had a great stay here! Perfectly located to explore around Upcountry in Maui. Helaina was a kind, hospitable and gracious host! The rooms were thoughtfully appointed and very comfortable. Parking was ample and easy. The pool and hot tub were wonderful as well! The grounds of the property are stunning. Will definitely stay here again!

Google
Great location! Helaina is super sweet and helpful. Quiet location that just far enough from the city centers to feel more private, but close enough that it’s an easy drive to restaurants or the beach. The salt water pool and the jacuzzi are both really nice to relaxing in. Perfect spot for just getting away from the noise of the city and relaxing. Definitely recommend staying here!

Where to start with this fabulous place? Quiet, clean, with a ton of old Maui charm and character. The rooms are tastefully decorated with Hawaiian art, and the views from the very private Banyan room out through the huge tree of same name to the ocean are to die for. All rooms have access to a well equipped kitchen. Reasonably priced, and the owner, Helania, could not be more receptive, responsive and friendly.

Yelp
My friend and I were in the middle of a bike touring trip in Maui, when a storm hit--the rains were insane and there was lightning, high winds, water flooding the roads. We made it to Makawao and took shelter on a shop porch. After a few hours of waiting for the storm to pass, we realized that it wasn't going to happen and started trying to find nearby lodging for the night. After calling several places that were either too far away or closed due to covid, we tried The Banyan Tree and the owner Helaina took pity on us and gave us the last room, even though it was extremely short notice and she was really busy dealing with the deluge of water on the property. She was so nice--met us in the downpour with fluffy dry towels and later offered to make us a pizza because she knew we didn't have a car to go get food. We stayed in one of the cottages with two beds and it was great. The beds were comfortable, there's a full, well-equipped kitchen, and it was just nice and clean and quiet. There's also a beautiful view of the valley from the garden and a huge, awesome-looking pool/cabana/hot tub area (although we obviously didn't get to use it). So highly recommend staying at the Banyan Tree, especially in the event of a severe multi-day rainstorm!

Yelp
Excellent place, very clean rooms with a picturesque setting. Also has a clean pool and lawn with outdoor gazebos. Friendly and sweet hosts; they also deliver breakfast outside the room with a bow :)

Yelp
We love staying here at the Banyan Tree! It is clean, beautiful and so peaceful. We have stayed in two different rooms so far and I loved both of them each time. Marty does a great job making sure you feel comfortable and at home. My kids LOVE the pool here. It's big and there is a jacuzzi too!

Yelp
Ok, to start with the good. Cozy little place nice pool, maybe nice hot tub. Very quiet rooms with plenty of space. Tons of fresh fruit We stayed in Gardena room Now my big list of bad: first I don't mind paying over 200$ for a room but there are things I expect. We got there in time to meet the clerk who took us to our room. First the door only opens about a food and a half (clerk said nothing ). Cool we check out the room, he tells us he is heading out key is already I the room. Awesome......we look for maybe 5 mins..no key. Luckily he was still on the office, so we go tell him. He says no no its in the room, walks us back and looks around the room......can't find it. So if we had gotten there 30 mins later we would have had no key. Ok so at this point we start getting settled in and making plans for the next day. Realize we need to leave at 6 ( they bring breakfast at 730) so we call the number we have and ask the guy if we can have it to tonight or pick it up. Straight up tells us nope I left about 5 mins ago and I'm not coming back up there tonight. Cool so we paid 200$ for a B&B and we don't get one of the Bs now. Sigh aight just been that kind of day. Sit down on one of the beds....and is so squeaky that I can hear it in the shower. Was so bad we couldn't sleep on it and had to sleep in other bed. Finally the room is so hot and the fans(desk fans) are so cheap and loud they are unusable if you want any sleep. Oh yea no coffee and no bath products of any kind We are from oahu, won't be back here on any future trips

Yelp
Cute little shabby-chic cottages nestled in a garden-like setting. We stayed here just one night (just needed a place to crash the day we arrived before hitting the Hana Highway) in the Gardenia Cottage. It was a large, open and airy studio with both full-sized and queen-sized beds which is a plus. There is a small kitchenette, a full bathroom and a small back porch with a hammock. The space is bright and clean. The next morning they deliver a modest continental breakfast to your back porch, consisting mostly of fresh fruit from their grounds. It's a quick 7-10 minute drive from Paia where all the eateries are, so keep this in mind when planning your stay. Overall I would recommend this B&B for a short stay just to see that part of the island. Other than that it may be too far removed as a home base if you want to visit other areas.

Yelp
Great, peaceful b&b. Kudos to Marty (the owner). Love the swings and hammock, fun things to do (salt water pool, ping pong, bounceless basketball, whirlpool if it is working) and the hot cocoa. Clean and optional fire pit available. Best part, apple bananas, fresh fruit trees to pick and enjoy (grapefruit was plentiful when visiting). Yoga studio is very nice.

Yelp
Our cottage was the Ginger, the smallest unit; it was in a one story building that shared a wall with the office that shared a wall with another cottage. Marty was quite pleasant! The Ginger was simply decorated, clean in appearance, the bathroom was large and the bed was comfortable. The grounds were manicured with lots of tropical plants but the outdoor equipment, and furniture needed cleaning and updating. It wasok but not luxurious! The 3 stars are an adequate rating. We did leave before our stay was complete because the mosquitos were using me as food for the winter; I am sure I am alergic to them. My suggestion would be a fan needed to keep the air circulating.

Yelp
Stayed here for three nights on my honeymoon - good value for the money. It's about a mile away from the main drag in Makawao, so while it's not walking distance from anything, it is centrally located in relation to a lot of cool stuff in the East part of the island. The staff was friendly and we liked the pool. Great relaxed, quiet vibe. Also, you're right next to what is IMHO, one of the prettiest parts of Maui - the sugarcane fields all along the drive down Baldwin Ave from Makawao to Paia.

Yelp
Super great place to stay! Great location and owners. Away from the crowds but still close enough to the beaches and town.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of our 4th staycation at Marty's amazing Banyan Tree House. We look forward to this annual event with stars in our eyes. From the moment we pull into the driveway, we feel the peace and serenity that the Banyan Tree House offers. Although we have had the fortune of staying in several of the cottages, our favorite is the Gardenia, with a full sized refrigerator and private back lanai. We were visited several times daily by the amazing Kado - resident cool cat. We are early risers and can't wait to see what one surprise breakfast goodie awaits us, along with our morning array of fresh apple bananas, fresh pineapple, yogurt, English muffin, and apple juice. We utilize the wonderful pool and hot tub daily. We love you Marty and Helena - as always, mahalo for making us feel like family!! Bob and Tina

Yelp
A group of us rented the whole place while we were on the island for a wedding. Amazing bright airy rooms, gorgeous spot, nice staff and close to the hippie town with the healthy grocery. I hop I'll make it back some day!

Yelp
Food was awesome! We really enjoyed our meal. The views are amazing! After dinner it was a blast walking down the path to the beach, the grounds are very well kept. This place is a gem.
