🔫Bao Bao 🔫 🔫Bao Bao 🔫 Just ate 5 bao's and I want more 🤤 Great value and great portions We ordered 3 chicken, 1 duck and 1 pork bao Katsu Chicken Korean Garlic Chicken Great Chicken Lucky pulled pork Dynaty duck All of them were stellar If you liked fried chicken, then you will not be disappointed, each of the chicken bao were top notch, with good chunks of chicken (bravo) The standouts were the lucky pulled pork and the Great chickens 🐔 One thing that would take the chicken to the next level would be some acidity - similar to the pulled pork. Forgot all about the Bao bread 🍞 lite and fresh - the perfect vessel for the tastee fillings 🫡

I recently visited Bao Bar in Mississauga because I had heard a lot about their baos. I was really excited to try it out. I ordered three baos: Korean Garlic Chicken, Sriracha Tofu, and Avocado Banger. The Korean Chicken Bao was the best of the three. The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor. I enjoyed it and would say it was the highlight of my meal. The Sriracha Tofu Bao was okay. The tofu was deep-fried, which made it a bit too oily for me. The oil soaked into the bun and made the overall taste a little heavy. The Avocado Banger Bao was a big disappointment. It didn’t taste good at all. It felt like very little thought went into creating it. It had a slice of cucumber inside, which didn’t go well with the avocado. Just because it’s a vegetarian bao doesn’t mean it has to be boring. They could have used mushrooms, grilled veggies, or something with a rich, umami flavor to make it better. Another issue I had was the size and price of the baos. Each bao is really small—just about two bites—and they cost around $9 to $10 each. For that price, I expected something more filling or satisfying. If you’re really hungry and want to eat a full meal, this place isn’t the right choice. The food isn’t filling at all, but the bill definitely is. I also didn’t enjoy the service. The staff didn’t seem friendly or welcoming. There wasn’t any effort to make customers feel comfortable. That really added to the disappointment. I went in very excited to try something new, but I left feeling very let down. The restaurant is fine if you just want to try something different once, but it’s not a place I would go back to. It’s too expensive for the portion size, and the flavors don’t make up for the cost. Overall, I give Bao Bar 1 star. The experience was not worth the hype, the price, or the excitement I had going in. I wouldn’t recommend it for lunch or dinner. If you’re really curious about bao and just want a quick snack, maybe give it a try—but keep your expectations low.

Google
We had the spicy pork, crackle pork and duck dynasty baos and they were all so delicious. First time here and will definitely be here again. The spicy pork was the best out of the 3 in case you’re planning to try one.

Google
The Seoul beef baguette was amazing and I highly recommend it. The bao wings were pretty good too, my partner enjoyed it more than I did. Thai milk tea was okay, probably would not get again. The service from the cashier was not the greatest as I ordered a combo and she did not hear me yet my partner did, she gave attitude saying I should’ve said I wanted a combo prior to ordering … if I did not say it, I’d understand all the attitude but because she misheard and gave me sass, it’s uncalled for.

Google
My husband and I came here after hearing about the delicious Bao Bun's from my sister. Bao Bar did not disappoint. The combined flavours in each Bao were paired so well. We got Great Chicken, Korean Garlic Chicken, Lucky Pulled Pork & the Spicy Haddock. Everything was made fresh to order and each Bao had a perfect amount of chicken:sauce:topping ratio

Justin

Google
The portions are supremely large so even one or two baos will fill you up! Lots of selection of flavours and the food is ready within minutes. The thai tea drink is also fantastic. Nice spot for a quick bite before heading to the mall.

Google
The bao were very large portions, orders the dynasty duck bao, five spice pork belly, crackle belly bao. Thought the duck was a bit too peppery and salty, but it came with a lot of meat. The bao buns were soft, recommend eating right away so it doesn’t get soak in the sauces and fall apart. Overall it was okk if you are craving a bao, more on the expensive side.

Google
I've been here several times. Fantastic food! The kimchi fries are a standout for me. I also love the baos with their fried chicken, SO crispy, juicy, and flavorful. Price is a bit high but you are getting quality food and they are generous with their fillings.

Antonio H.

Yelp
The food was solid! It was a bit too salty for my taste, but overall, it was really good. The staff was extremely nice and were able to suggest the best items on the menu. The restaurant also has a great vibe inside with modern music playing!

Michelle L.

Yelp
This has been on my want to gos for some time, and I finally got to try it with my boyfriend. I forget what he got, but I ordered the Lucky Pulled Pork bao and the Crackle Belly bao. The food was made fresh to order, and the cashier was friendly. Lot of seats inside too. The Lucky Pulled Pork bao was so good! It was stuffed full of juicy meat, and the pickled cabbage was such a good compliment. The Crackle Belly was the polar opposite. It was dry to the point of being chewy like a piece of leather. All the sauce was on top of the meat, so there was nothing inside. There was some crunch, but it was unpleasant.

Yelp
Before COVID-19 surfaced, I'd accompany my manager to conduct interviews with intern candidates at a handful of Ontario universities. We recently reminisced about going to Bao Sandwich Bar for lunch between interviews at the University of Waterloo. I had mentioned to him that it had a second location in Mississauga, roughly a fifteen-minute drive from our workplace. He said that when we were both in the office, he'd only want to go there for lunch with me. It's nice that he trusts my judgment when it comes to eateries. I also believe that he likes my company. A couple of Wednesdays ago, he asked what I was doing for lunch. I normally hit Treats nearby. He wasn't feeling it. I said that we could go here and provided some details, including its online menu and such. I also asked him if he had any meetings. I'm that type of a planner, down to the departure time. He was game. I said that we should leave at 11:15 am. The place opens at 11:30 am. He had a meeting at 1 pm. I wanted a leisurely, unrushed lunch. Done! I drove us over there. With my lead foot, it was more like thirteen minutes, without hitting any highway. Like the Bao place in Waterloo, this one is also located on a lower level of a plaza, with a tall building at the top of this hill. I parked in front of the eatery. We walked in. We were the first customers. It looks like the place kept some of the seating from the previous business that occupied the place. The upholstery looked shabby. Otherwise, the rest of the eatery was spruced up. I got a combo consisting of these items: - Crackle belly bao - Korean garlic chicken bao - Purple flower lemonade - Dynasty duck poutine My manager got the following items: - Dynasty duck bao - Thai yum pork bao - House salad - Thai tea I took a star away because I wasn't expecting my order to be $40! It was okay for the large portion of dynastic duck poutine that I got. It was rather steep. You won't see me eating here every day. I split the poutine with my manager, so it was okay. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. It didn't take long for our food to be ready. The woman who had taken our orders was nice to bring the food to our table. I have always loved the crackle belly bao. It was equally as delicious here as it was in Waterloo. The pork belly was tasty and perfectly seasoned. The bao was nice and malleable. The veggies provided a nice contrast. I loved it. I tried the Korean garlic chicken bao. It was heavenly. The sauce was spicy and garlicky. The chicken had a crispy exterior and was juicy inside. It's nice having another decent bao to call my favourite. The purple flower lemonade was delicious. I normally don't like sweet lemonade. This version had a touch of sweetness that I enjoyed. This drink's colour was also pretty to look at. My manager enjoyed his food. He oddly doesn't like green vegetables, so I saw him pick out the cilantro and green onions. He felt that the sauces were mixed up. His Thai yum pork bao wasn't spicy. The dynasty duck that he has had in the past was oddly spicy. We had a baseline of the dynasty duck poutine that wasn't spicy to compare. Even with the sauce mix-up, he still enjoyed everything. His side salad had a bit of a spice kick, so he was happy. I loved eating here. It was a nice, casual lunch with yummy food. I wish that it were cheaper. However, the quality was excellent that I'm okay shelling out for it as someone who likely won't be dropping by weekly. (67)

Yelp
Okay wow! After reading the reviews my friend and I were expecting the price to be a little steep since that seemed to be the number 1 complaint however even one Bao is pretty a pretty good portion, stuffed with tasty ingredients and wrapped in a warm steamed Bao bun. The Korean Garlic Chicken was very good and my friend enjoyed her pork belly Bao! We shared the lemonade and it was also very delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice as we sat at the bar stools waiting for our order, they were playing some kpop songs and there was plenty of seating. The service was also nice as the employee was patient with us while we debated what to order and delivered the food to our table even though we ordered take out. Now I'm not saying one of these would fill you up but if you get a "baguette" size I think it would be more worth the price than ordering 2 separately. Definitely would be back to try other flavours as there is a ton to choose from!

Yelp
Here once or twice a week. Food is amazing & always fresh! My favs are Korean Garlic Chicken Bao and Seoul beef Bao.

Deanna D.

Yelp
This is a cute little place. They have a variety of options and offer a little combo as well. I got the beef in the duck. I do have to say that the duck was definitely interesting, but the beef was better. There is a lot of meat put into one bun, and I wish there was more of the other toppings that go into it to balance out the meat and bun flavor. Overall though, it was a great meal.

John D.

Yelp
Sriracha tofu banh mi was good. I wish the tofu were cut into bite sized pieces instead of two pieces in the banh mi. Avocado banger was average. Nothing too exciting. The Seoul Kim chi fries were the best part. Plenty Kim chi over an extremely large portion of fries. I'd come back just for the Seoul Kim chi fries for sure.

Areej Q.

Yelp
Each time I go, I order the wacky tacky chicken with sweet potato fries. The combination of sweet (bun) and spicy (chicken) tingles my senses. Chicken is thick and juicy. Good for clearing out the sinuses. Seating area is rather small but there's a few tables available when the place isn't too busy. Most people come around for take out/pickup. Staff are friendly and helpful. If you're dining in, they'll serve you your food. Wet napkins and utensils are by the cash register.

Zenia I.

Yelp
We got their combo meal - two baos, a side and drink of your choice. The baos are absolute perfection - fluffy Bao buns and filled pretty generously. Service is quick and attentive. I'd definitely return! Priced a bit on the higher side for the size of the Bao - but that's me nitpicking.

Ida N.

Yelp
We were not super impressed with the baos here. We got the crackle belly which was too chewy for pork belly, the chicken katsu and the karage chicken. The chicken was a bit dry and the baos felt like they could use more sauces and flavor. We got served pretty quickly.

Claudia C.

Yelp
Just WOW. One of the best places I have been in Mississauga. Basically think of them as Bahn Mi Boys but BETTER. Their buns are super soft with a subtle sweetness to it. The filling portion size is huge overflowing the bun. We also got sweet potato fries as a side and it came with a homemade garlic mayo. We tried 4 different baos: - Dynasty Duck - The Catch - Korean Garlic Chicken - Great Chicken Our favourite was The Catch. The fish was crispy and super flavourful. We got some Chipotle Mayo to add on the side and it was amazing! We also got an ice coffee and Thai ice tea for drinks and I have to say the ice coffee was much better. It tasted like an Vietnamese coffee but less strong. I would definitely come back to try the other types of baos!

Selina B.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try Boa Buns for a long time, and this place did not disappoint. Loved the soft pillowy homemade boas. Their top sellling boas were Katsu Chicken and Dynasty Duck so these were the ones we had to try. By far, Dynasty Duck with my favourite, seasoned with a tasty hoisin garlic mayo sauce! The Chicken Katsu was good as well and had a slightly sweet/sticky tonkatsu sauce with a hint of spice. There was a good serving of meat and the breading was not heavy. I would go back again to try pork belly. Although I would have loved to give this place a 5-star rating, it was slightly overpriced at approx $14 (before tax ) for lunch, not including sides or beverages.

Helen T.

Yelp
Ordered their five spice bao and duck dynasty bao. Their five spice bao came with a thick piece of pork belly, while their duck dynasty bao was filled with a generous portion of deliciously flavoured duck chucks. If it was a competition, I'd say the winner would be the duck dynasty bao; better flavouring. The five spice bao was a little blend. In term of the quality of the bao, it was thick but fluffy!

Ivan H.

Yelp
Delicious food with great flavours. Nice small location with a good vibe. Little bit pricey but reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Pbenemerito ..

Yelp
First time coming to Minami and was definitely not disappointed. Though the menu is more limited than Miku's, the quality and taste of the dishes was comparable. Prices at Minami are also cheaper. Service was fantastic as well. Really appreciated that we weren't rushed to order while waiting on other individuals in our party to arrive.

Tas M.

Yelp
We got the chicken katsu and the great chicken bao. First time trying bao and it was super fire. I forgot to take a photo of the great chicken. The baos were soft and the chicken was full of flavor.

Evelyn A.

Yelp
- Seoul Kimchi Fries with Beef: 9/10 It was really yummy but beef on the tougher side. - Spicy Pork Bao: 10/10 Great if you like spicy, and had cucumber in it which was a refreshing to have with the pork. - Seoul Beef Bao: 8/10 Tasted similar to the fries, so preferred the fries more over the Bao, but still yummy. - Lemon Peach Tea: 10/10 So yummy and addicting! On the much sweeter side though! - Awesome customer service, this is our second time visiting so we would definitely come again!

Samuel P.

Yelp
Will definitely be back Had The Catch, Korean Chicken, Duck baos, kimchi beef poutine and Five spice pork baguette Juicy, delicious and flavourful

Sarah C.

Yelp
The food came out really fast and the customer service was very good! The price was pretty cheap too. Definitely worth trying.

Kinza A.

Yelp
AMAZING CHICKEN, DONT BUY DRINKS THOUGH! got the bao combo (2 baos of choice + 1 side + 1 drink) with chicken katsu and great chicken bao (totaled $24 incl. tax) all of my friends agreed the chicken katsu was the best thing we had, perfectly crisp and juicy with delicious condiments (garlic mayo + tonkatsu sauce + green onions). the great chicken was good too, but the sauce was very! sweet so if ur not into that maybe not for u! fries were crisp and great. now, onto the drinks: dont waste your money on the cup drinks! i tried the lemon peach tea, very mid 4/10. friend said the iced coffee was pretty bad, and as for the purple drink its completely for looks nothing else. HOWEVER! they have lots of can soda options including arizona tea (much much cheaper too) overall, i highly recommend! some of the best HALAL fried chicken ive had in a very long time, will def go again. service was great and the girl at the front was very nice :)

Sam A.

Yelp
More like 4.7, I have to ding them a bit because of price but like what's NOT expensive these days, right? I ordered a bao combo which comes with 2 baos, a side and a drink. There's no set price on the combo, as it all depends on what baos, side and drink you get. I would have preferred a set price because by the time I was done picking all I wanted, I was at a hefty $26. =S But whatever, I wanted to try a lot during my first visit, I defs won't be getting a combo again lol. Also to be fair, it was a lot of food for me. I even shared a lot of it with my bf...and it was really good. Anyways, I got a chicken katsu and Seoul beef bao, for my side I got a small Seoul kimchi fries and for my drink I got ice coffee. For your drink, you can choose any drink on their menu basically, so that includes ice coffee, Thai ice tea and lemonades. If I had ordered all these individually, it would have been well over $30, so you do save money with a combo. Everything was really good and full of flavour, so thank god for that lol. The bao was perfectly soft and the chicken and beef were seasoned well. Again, everything was full of flavour. My bf liked everything as well and said he would order all the same things for himself next time. It was all really good. And the fries were crispy and seasoned as well. The ice coffee is pre-made and was just the right amount of sweetness. Overall it was really good and I'm defs coming back. Also, the girl working the front was so sweet and pretty, I had to let her know lol. We also had a nice conversation while I waited. Great food and great service, can't fault them for much. Can't wait to try other things on the menu!

Stefi P.

Yelp
Simply loved the Bao's. Sriracha Tofu - a crunchy fried tofu and perfect amount of sauces. The Korean chicken - awesome flavors The avacado banger - another wonder Everything we tried was awesome. glad found this bao place so close to square one. Seating capacity may be around 15-20 but definitely this place is worth a try!!!!

Janelle H.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. Only thing is the seating but everything else was great! I got the seol beef and chicken katsu.

Mellanie P.

Yelp
Honestly I'm giving this rating based on my to go order. We came in here the other day and ordered the bao combo that came with two baos of your choice, a side, and a drink. Price would depend on the choices you make, so I'm not really sure if there's a real savings there. Anyways we ordered the five spice pork and Korean chicken bao with a small kimchi fries. Unfortunately they ran out of thai milk tea so we opted for the iced coffee. I think in terms of options available in Mississauga this offers some good options for the area. There's plenty of bao options here. They didn't have any duck available when we went which was disappointing since it was one of the ones we wanted to try. For our baos we liked the Korean fried chicken bao more than the five spice pork belly. I personally didn't really enjoy this but it's because I could taste that gaminess of the pork, so I only had one bite. Otherwise i kind of expected more seasoning flavour from it considering its five spice. The Korean chicken was good! The baos we're about $6-7 each if you were looking to order. The iced coffee was on the sweeter side so if you like the comparative taste of an ice Capp you'll enjoy this. Kimchi fries were good. Would love to come back to try the duck, and maybe some other baos if I'm in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to travel here for a bao though. Would say it's worth checking out.

Kelly K.

Yelp
Never had Bao and was excited to try. I ordered the 2 bao combo which was lots to ear and came with tasty fries. The baos were delicious- I tried the bulgogoi and the spicy pork. Both were delicious. Will try the baguettes next time.

Maricriz R.

Yelp
came here with a couple of friends and it was absolutely delicious. my partner and i shared 4 between us so we could taste as much as we could. I do think that it is a little overpriced at around $7 a bao with no side or drink. I would say one bao couldnt fill you up, youd need a little extra to fill up. Its flavourful and you can bet on getting the taste that you expect! Its a smaller restaurant with very few seating areas but otherwise in a very chill and relaxed location.

Page A.

Yelp
This place serves excellent baos and banh mis! Their food is always fresh and high quality and the service is also very good! I recommend the Kimchi Poutine and the Fried Chicken Baos. A great option for a quick lunch.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Great little sit down place for some delicious Asian fusion baos and baguettes. They also serve unique side dishes such as duck poutine, kimchi fries and bao wings. The gravy for the duck poutine is very flavourful and the fries has a very crispy coating.. reminds me of the Costco fries. For 13$ the portion of the poutine is a steal! Overall, all the baos were very tasty, based on personal preference, I like some over others. Honourable mentions includes the chicken katsu and the Korean garlic chicken. They also got vegetarian options too! Highly recommend giving this place a try!

Richa R.

Yelp
NEW SPOT ALERT! Bao Bar Mississauga is here and serving up some delicious pillowy bao goodness !!! Their menu is expansive with many different options. All of their proteins also come in a baguette form as well so definitely something for everyone! Scroll through to see what we tried: - Chicken katsu bao - Seoul beef bao - The catch bao (fish) - Dynasty Duck poutine - Thai tea - Purple flower lemonade Ohhh what a feast we had lol you would think we didn't get too much but each bao is SO filling! I would definitely recommend going with friends so you can mix and match and try different baos The chicken katsu was super crispy, a bit tangy with that tonkatsu sauce and creamy with that garlic mayo The seoul beef was perfectly grilled with the spicy kimchi flavours and creamy garlic sauce as well The fish bao was tasty too, I just wish there was more of the chipotle mayo sauce maybe drizzled on top to give it more flavour! However the duck poutine OMG definitely something different from anything I have ever tried !!! The pieces were so THICK and juicy, I just wish there were more pieces lol and combined with the fries and the cheese and the gravy it just was just *chef's kiss* MUAHH Both the thai tea and purple lemonade were sweet and perfect additions to any bao, quenching your thirst with some refreshing flavours! The lemon peach tea is apparently a super popular one but unfortunately was sold out so we will definitely be back to try it next time hehe Thank you Bao Bar Mississauga for the awesome customer service, our server had great suggestions and was very patient with our indecisive order lol so thank you for that lol The interior is super cute and insta worthy and the vibes are sooo chill, they are very close to square in the Sherwoodtown blvd plaza and currently having a 15% off promo to celebrate their grand opening !!! So what are you waiting for ?! Check them out y'all!

Kimmi T.

Yelp
Here visiting the cousins, and this is a Cute little place. Kinda hard to find if you're coming through the parking lot as the logo for their restaurant was a bit hidden on the bottom of the board. Looks like food is made to order. Their purple flower lemonade is yummy.

David P.

Yelp
Update after a year. Its still really good, the best I've had outside of downtown TO. The duck is greasy, but I liked it the best.

Ricky R.

Yelp
Please go to the original location in Waterloo, this one is severely underwhelming, they didn't properly squeeze out the tofu, nor batter it the way they do at the Waterloo location. The crackling pork was not crackling, and the great chicken was lacking sauce and was half the portion size. It's clear they do not make it with as much love as they do in Waterloo, don't let this discourage u from going but please please please go to the one in Waterloo, it is f'ing amazing!!!

Rachel N.

Yelp
First visit to Bao Bar and I had ordered a couple combos to go. I got the baguette combo for myself with seoul kimchi fries and thai milk tea- and I will say it is such a satisfying meal. I did really enjoy the Five Spice Pork Belly Baguette, good flavors although the baguette was a little too soft for my liking. Thai milk tea was spot on, so was the kimchi fries. My only comment would be I found the price of a combo meal to be a little steep, but in their favor they do jam-pack as much meat/protein as possible into your order.

Jon D.

Yelp
This is probably the best restaurant in Mississauga. The two life-changing dishes that you need to order here is the five-spice bao and the kimchi fries. Both are the best of it's kind in the entire GTA.

Nelo L.

Yelp
Great take out, many options to choose from here is the kimchee fries with fried chicken boa and Korean beef

Adeline C.

Yelp
We had the katsu chicken, Seoul beef, grilled chicken bao and bulgogi fries... all very yummy. Definitely coming back to try others!

Michael L.

Yelp
Bao Bar is pretty close to Square One but is located in a plaza in the smaller streets. There are a couple of tables inside for dine-in eating and the orders get turned out pretty quickly. My only qualm is selling a bao for $6.64 is a little expensive for just one bao but if you were to get it definitely try the The Catch, Chicken Katsu, Korean Garlic Chicken, or Lucky Pulled pork!

Kathleen Z.

Yelp
We ordered the great chicken, Korean garlic chicken, Seoul beef, Thai yum pork, crackle belly, and dynasty duck which was by far my favourite. Each bao was so generously packed and incredibly flavourful, though some were a bit heavy on the sodium. Reasonably priced and lots of variety. Will definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Mariette C.

Yelp
Great customer service. It didn't let me post review on Google. Went to check out menu yesterday. No flavor. The topping was blank. Sweet potatoes fries was good and purple lemonade. My sister ended up getting upset stomach right after and ruined her day. A girl on Google just posted she had same issue yesterday. Bao inside sq1 much better
