TLDR: Stuck-up bartenders, really smoky. The most “Berlin Mitte” (not in a good way) place I’ve ever visited. They don’t serve cocktails, they serve mixed drinks, shots and beer.
Main complaint: Totally hypocritical to have rude service in a historically considered safe-space/artist-haven.
Details: Bartender was very patronizing and judgmental to my friend who politely asked if we could pay with card before placing an order. He became irate when they asked “kann man bei ihnen” instead of “kann man bei dir mit karte zahlen” (a bar is a businesses, a group of people, yea? more than the guy serving the drinks, no?). He scoffed and rolled his eyes at them, oh how terrible to have been “sietzt” 😂 then chose to ignore everyone in the friend group until finally one of us had waited for over 15 minutes.
Edit: Apparently the guys name is Mark or something…? Ok he was playing music and working by himself, ok maybe he was stressed, but honestly I’ve done his job before. It is not that hard. Wow you hit play on a downtempo HipHop playlist in DE? Not impressive.
Final note: The bar has a very limited menu and allows smoking indoors (not untypical for Berlin, but still worth complaining about because it really kills the vibe, is incredibly unhealthy, and also ILLEGAL in Germany). Hope the owners see this and stop allowing smoking indoors, hire at least a bar back so the poor bar tender can chill a bit more and not have to run around picking up empty glasses and bottles. Maybe then he’ll be kinder when someone tries to ask a very normal question.
