We came here for an aperitif and we will not be coming back. Unfortunately, despite the hotel’s name, which should be synonymous with excellence, we were poorly welcomed. The gentleman at the entrance was careless, definitely not at the level we expected. We were seated at the bar with the promise that “as soon as a table is free, you’ll be moved.” While we were placing our order, the girl behind the bar simply LEFT — totally unacceptable.
When a table finally became available and we sat down, no one bothered to bring our drinks from the (dirty) bar counter to the table. When closing time came, the waitress — clearly agitated, as if she were the owner — approached us without even a “sorry” or “thank you” and said, “we close at one.” We were horrified.
The incompetence of the staff, who perhaps should be working in a bistro instead of at the Mandarin Oriental, is unbelievable. Dirty tables, empty trays left around, rude waiters, never a thank you, never a please. Absolutely shocking and deplorable.
