A great place to have few drinks. I believe they have special on drinks from 11:00 am 5:00 pm .when we arrived it was late so kitchen was closed so I couldn't have starters. Service was good and bathrooms were clean.

Chilled little bar. Great for brunch when you've missed normal breakfast times. Food was delicious. Catered to vegan requests and hungover requests to adapt a meal

Very nice bar with a good selection of beers and wines. The homemade pizzas are amazing. We were watching rugby and plenty tvs to enjoy the game. Assume footy would be shown too if on

Fantastic service. Greeted the moment my boyfriend and I walked in the door. We had to be seated at the bar initially because the place was full, they were quick to serve us our drinks and provide menus, then the moment a table became available they grabbed us :). Food was absolutely delicious. Best food and service I've received since arriving to the city a week ago. Would go again and again and would highly recommend.

We stumbled across this place and were happy to get out of the rain to take advantage of their soup and sandwich deal for a late lunch. Great atmosphere, cruisy music, friendly staff and we loved the soup and sandwich. We also enjoyed gin n tonic and beers. Highly recommend👍

Maybe we didn't get there at the right time. It's kind of a pub but we were there for some eating . The menu was limited and we expected very good food but that was not the case . Live cool dj mixing..

Decent bar in Merchant city. Good prices (compared to Edinburgh). Nice when large front windows are opened with a busy street outside. Also have outdoor seating. Friendly service.

Yelp
We headed here for a leaving lunch and were not disappointed. The menu seemed a bit eclectic which I normally find a bit worrying but we all really enjoyed our massive meals. I went for "The Best Ever" Roastbeef sandwich and the name did not deceive. The beef was amazing and they did not skimp on the portion. I had the horseradish sauce on the side but happily added it back to the sandwich as it had a bite but wasn't overly spicy. I opted for curly fries to accompany my sandwich which were super yummy. My colleagues had a mix of burgers, pasta, wraps and they all enjoyed their food. I would happily go back here again and recommend it to friends!

Yelp
Bar 91 has been a frequent stop on my roster of refreshment establishments in the city centre for many years. Always seems to be busy and good to visit at any time of day or evening, if you can't get a seat right away, one will usually be free soon enough. Until this weekend I hadn't eaten here, presuming it was run of the mill pub grub. Wrong! I had difficulty choosing from the menu... I loved the sound of everything. I opted for a special; the Steak Philly baguette - at around £8-9 the dearest item on the menu. My friend had the italian sausage pasta. Service was quick and the food arrived piping hot after a short wait. Presentation was first class, and the food delicious. The steak in my baguette was flavoursome, tender and lean. The generous helping of steak was stuffed in the philly cheese -lined crusty baguette and served with salad and fries. Excellent value for money. It was the extra touches that made my Bar 91 review 5* instead of 4* one. A small but notable example being when I asked for a glass of tap water, it was served with ice and a wedge each of lime and lemon. And when a larger table came available, the staff asked if we'd like to move from our stool-seated bar - we stayed put, but it was great customer service. Looking forward to eating here again - the prices are excellent for the Merchant City, and quality is first class. So, now it's on my food-places list as well as drink-places. Yay!

Yelp
This place saved lives the other day there. Freezing outside.. super warm and cosy inside. Slick interior, with great staff and a well stocked bar. They even had a hot winter Cider brew from our friends our alternative Swedish friends. We took up the bulk of the place where not only was there a mob of us, but it is quite small inside. There was a high volume of single men just chilling with a pint and a book, which I like. The menu looked substantial for being a bar, not a pub or restaurant where three bowls of curly fries were ordered over an embarassingly short space of time. Speedy service as well. Good music which went curiously ambient towards the end of the night. A cool spot I would go back to again.

Yelp
With no real knowledge of good places in Glasgow, but with a half hour to kill before a dinner, we walked by this place. It seemed like the best bar in the area in terms of atmosphere and wasn't that busy, so we took our seat and ordered a couple of drinks. The beer and bottle selection was pretty good; I had a hard time deciding on the beer I wanted, and my wife always likes the choice of fruity ciders. The prices were a little steep but the bartender was pleasant and speedy. It got a little busier before we left, owing to the Friday night after-work crowd, I imagine it's a fun place for the end of the week wind-down. We weren't staying long but a glance at the menu on the blackboard showed a good choice of food for reasonable pub prices. Service with a smile and an interesting place; I'd happily go back if we end up in the area again.

Yelp
Bar 91 is the place we head to when we fancy some nice pub grub, it's reasonably priced and has the feel of a local pub even though it's right in the heart of the Merchant City. Drinks are reasonably priced and there are some decent beers on tap including some from West Brewery. The halloumi with flatbread and sweet potato wedges is one of my favourites and you can never go wrong with the mac cheese. Don't forget to check out the specials board. It can get noisy in the evenings so if you are looking for a quieter drink this may not be for you.

Yelp
My Mum and I found ourselves wandering around The Merchant City this Sunday, with time to kill - my Dad and sister, in their usual style, were running late! Peering through the windows on Bar 91, we saw people eating, what looked like, lovely food. So duly in we went. To start we shared a small Mezze - the hummous in particular was delicious. Everything was yum, but the hummous stood out. Nom! For mains my Mum opted for a beef stew with parsnip mash. The beef was tender, flavoursome and moist. The parsnip mash was interesting, an unusual texture, but it did work well with the beef. I opted for the Thai Beef Salad. Bloody outstanding! Unctuous, tender beef, with all those delicious fresh Thai flavours - ginger, lemongrass, chili. The bed of salad it was presented it was crisp, fresh and tasty. A large glass of Pinot and a pint of St Mungos, two double espressos, a shared starter and two mains came to the wallet-friendly sum total of £33.45 I'd definitely go back here - their food is well thought out, it's good value, and the service is lovely.

Yelp
Been a while since I'd been in here, and Clare S and I popped in for a bite to eat and a quick drink. I'm still not sure I like this bar. It's always seems noisier and crammed than it should be, largely because of the layout I think, but on the upside it has a good selection of beers and if you are early enough you can usually get a seat. Table service is available if you are eating, and our drinks arrived quickly, with our food pretty quickly after that. Pulled pork bun and fries for me, haddock and mash for Clare. My food was ok, the pulled pork was tender and juicy but could've been tastier, the fries were crisp and the side salad was, as always, not worth mentioning. Portion wise it was a little on the small side - especially looking across the table at the epic portion that Clare had! Price wise it was pretty average and that just about sums up my experience. The service was ok, the food ok, etc etc. I've had better, I've had worse, and whilst I'm not sure I'll be rushing back, I won't mind if I end up here again.

Yelp
love this bar with it's feel of being your local in the Merchant City. It is relaxed in the day, so good to meet up with friends for a drink or two or just sit with a book and not feel hassled by staff (or other drinkers). Day turns to night, the lights get dimmed and suddenly it's heaving though I've never felt it was so busy I couldn't move. Customers tend to be 30+ though I've not noticed any age restrictions The food is lovely & decently priced for Merchant City and as much as I drool over the menu I always end up buying their veggie burger. The house wine is approx £15 for a bottle and they do make a mean mojito.

Yelp
For some reason I really like this bar! I've only been in a handful of times and I've never eaten in here so that plenty to go back for! It serves a great selection of beers draught and bottled they also do a good range of cocktails. The handful of time I've been here it's been really busy but it has a real quick turnaround. If you wait you will get a table. In summer they open all the front up and your basically on the street watching the people go by and on a winters evening it's dark with candles and warm! A great all round bar with a mix of people.

Yelp
Another merchant city gem, and one I've spent a fair bit of time in over the years. Nicely situated on Candleriggs, it's in the trendiest bit of the merchant city but is a welcome relief from the overly made-up suited and over-aftershaved merchant square, just over the road. It's one of my preferred spots for lunch-that-turns-into-evening-drinks. If I remember correctly, there's a goat's cheese salad that's rather fine. I'm not a fan of the new decor - the white illustrations on the far wall just don't sit right with the tone of the place in my estimation - but on the whole it's still a great place for a drink. West on tap, Strongbow & Old Mout for the cider drinkers, decent sized tables and a wee outside space that opens into the main bar for when it's sunny. yeay.

Yelp
Pros - Best Bar in the Merchant City if it's a sunny day thanks to the large open front, good service, good food, check out the Chicken Nachos, they're excellent. Cons - Quite small, often way more people than chairs and tables. Recommended for teary goodbyes. (based purely on my own, personal experience.)

Yelp
Probably one of the better bars in the Merchant city these days. It's got this weird knack of always being really busy, but somehow I always still get a seat. Maybe it's a case of people go along for one and just move on. Alternatively, perhaps they see me coming for their seat and leave, but I prefer to go with the former theory. Anyways, great west beer on tap, a good atmosphere and what always seems to me to be a decent clientele makes for a nice bar to drink in. Not tried the food yet, but will give it a shot soon.

Yelp
How the frack have I never reviewed Bar 91?! One of the best bars in Merchant City, I come in here fairly regularly with the Mr for a beer. It has a decent tap selection - usually go for Joker IPA. Pricewise, it's quite average. I've not yet had food here, but it has a great reputation and the menu looks great. Bar91 has a couple of great things going for it: During the summer, it has a seating area just outside, and the entire front facia comes off - making it a huge, open plan bar. The atmosphere here is always great - it attracts a fairly young, professional type of crowd. A great place to go with a group for a fun night out. The staff are always really friendly, helpful, and fast. All in, it's an awesome place to go!

Yelp
My friend Jamie fancies himself as a bit of a wine expert, and he insists that the wine list at Bar 91 is quite exceptional. I wouldn't have a clue personally, so I shall have to take his word for it. This is a stylish bar/restaurant. surprisingly bigger than expected, it serves food and drinks in an informal, but fashionable atmosphere. I haven't ever dined in here, but I did notice they serve up falafel, which I adore. Quite unusual to see. The drinks are a little bit expensive, but the cosy feel of the interior makes it seem worthwhile. There are a couple of wooden tables outside, and it's fun to laugh at the shivering posers who choose to sit here on a chilly October night.

Yelp
Thankfully eschewing the clinical style bar feel, Bar 91 is an atmospheric enough little pub in the Merchant City. On the Thursday we visited it was fairly busy and bustling, and while it's not exactly mindblowing, the relaxed, not trying too hard feel means you're not constantly aware of being underdressed / under financed like you would in some of it's neighbours. We did notice a distinct lack of female customers, and an influx of shaven headed, but non-threatening looking, male drinkers, leading us to speculate that we had just taken up residence in a gay bar. Going by the other reviews however, I think we were mistaken.

Yelp
The story goes that the head statue of the afro sporting man that sits pride of place in Bar 91, was left many years ago by a group of art students that couldn't pay their bill, who left Mr Afro as a deposit and promised to return. They never did return and Mr Afro still sits there today bringing a quirky edge to the place. Bar 91 is dark and atmospheric, making it a great place to relax with a drink in Glasgow's stylish Merchant City. Its informal and relaxed atmosphere makes Bar 91 a firm favourite with locals and is ideal for a bite to eat, a swift drink or an evening out on the town.

Yelp
Along with Blackfriars, the pick of the Merchant City pubs. Bar 91 is what it is precisely because it doesn't try too hard. There is no elaborate decor, no wacky theme nights and no ridiculous music. Instead Bar 91 is a nice, normal pub and while it's not exactly a traditional local boozer (you can still expect your fair share of yuppies in here) it hosts a far more tolerable crowd than some of the other hotspots in the area. Serving excellent food and boasting a superb wine list, Bar 91 is also a good spot for a couple to visit.

Yelp
This is a nice bar, music is ok, drinks are fine, nothing special about it except the amazing pizza! The best pizza i had in Glasgow so far. Bonus: It's in Candleriggs so if you or your friends don't like it, there's a bunch of nice places around to get the next drink.

Yelp
The music is always great in Bar 91. They have a fine selection of beers including two examples from the nearby West Brewery. I think it's great to see Glasgow bars promoting a local product of a such high quality. I've never eaten in here but it certainly is a great place to spend a few hours drinking with you mates. If I'm in the Marchant City this is the place I make a beeline for and if it's crowded, which I'm afraid it often is, there are still plenty nearby.

Yelp
Been going here since my late teens in the 90s. Great bar, mixed crowd and good ambience. Had lunch today and standard as always was top notch. Club sandwiches recommended.

Yelp
This is a nice little place in the Merchant City. We popped in to enjoy a little rest and a drink after a bit of exploring in the area. There isn't a lot of space, but it's got a nice atmosphere. While we were there, the lights kept flickering on and off, which was weird, but didn't seem to to slow anyone down. A nice little spot.

Yelp
Bar 91 is a veteran bar which was part of the first wave of style bars to hit Glasgow, looking a bit tired nowadays it is still fairly lively thanks to it's location in the center of the merchant city but it's location is really all it has going for it.
