10 Classic Belgian Dishes to Try on Your Next Flemish Adventure | Condé Nast Traveler

"A Belgian riff on steak tartare, cannibale at spots like the Cannibale meat bar in Brussels features filet américain (tartare seasoned with mayonnaise and slivers of onion) served on sweet white pain de mie cut into triangles and accompanied by capers, pickled cornichons and mini onions—sweeter and very approachable for first-timers." - Julia Buckley

Absolutely fantastic place. The sweetest and most competent owner, who is truly passionate about meat and fine wines. Cooking the meat on hot stones works really well and creates a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

What fantastic steak and service! We had an early dinner with our children so the place was quiet at that time but started to fill up as we were leaving. The quality (and wide selection) of the steaks we had was excellent and the baked potato perfectly cooked and served with a lovely garlicky, herby butter. Even the house red was better than we’d expected - a deep spicy red that went really well with the steak. Cooking the steak on the stone was fun too. This little place will be our lasting memory of Brussels!! I’m so pleased we stumbled across this great find!

One of the best steak houses! Very good blend between the meat and the wines

I had dinner here with my family and it was the best dinner we had in Brussels! The choices of steaks are amazing and everything was top quality! Delicious flavors and even better service. Our server was extremely kind and made sure we had a great night! He recommended different wines, advised us on steaks, and really made the experience top notch for us. I recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Food, service, and ambience is 5 stars all the way! My partner and I came for dinner as our last night in Brussels tonight. It was a memorable food experience and a wonderful place to end our Belgium trip. I’m a foodie and have traveled in many places. We ordered a couple of steaks that comes with baked potatoes that’s garnished with freshly made garlic butter…it is to die for! The best baked potatoes we’ve ever had. Steaks are served uncooked, so you will have to cook on a hot stone. A similar concept to Japanese and Korean bbq (if you has these type of cuisines before). We had also ordered a side salad (okay) and decent steak sauces (chimichurri and aioli) for additional cost. During our trip here in Brussels, we encountered some unpleasant discrimination from other restaurants around that refused to dine us. They kept telling us that their kitchen was either closed or full house when we clearly see available tables. We believe it was because of our race (Asian). I don’t tend to care, but this time we stood out pretty well in this area and the vibe received is not so pleasant. We may be sensitive, but I don’t think so because it happened more than 5 times in the span of 3 days here. However, Bar a viandes Cannibale restaurant owner, Johan, was one of the few who really greeted us warmly and provided a spectacular service throughout the night. A genuine and kind gentleman. It made our night, so we also ordered desserts to extend the night longer. It is our way to show appreciation to wonderful small businesses even when we were full. If you’re ever in the area or looking for a unique food experience, this place would not disappoint. It is small and cute, so make sure to reserve in advance!

Not just a meal but an epic dining experience! This place is the definition of 5 star dining, it will go down as one of the greatest meals of my life. Johan was brilliant, top class service and so knowledgeable about the various steak options available, just listening to this man describe the steak options was like listening to a sommelier describe wines, truly truly impressive. The homemade crème brûlée was just the cherry on top to a wonderful experience.
