Food, service, and ambience is 5 stars all the way!
My partner and I came for dinner as our last night in Brussels tonight. It was a memorable food experience and a wonderful place to end our Belgium trip. I’m a foodie and have traveled in many places.
We ordered a couple of steaks that comes with baked potatoes that’s garnished with freshly made garlic butter…it is to die for! The best baked potatoes we’ve ever had. Steaks are served uncooked, so you will have to cook on a hot stone. A similar concept to Japanese and Korean bbq (if you has these type of cuisines before). We had also ordered a side salad (okay) and decent steak sauces (chimichurri and aioli) for additional cost.
During our trip here in Brussels, we encountered some unpleasant discrimination from other restaurants around that refused to dine us. They kept telling us that their kitchen was either closed or full house when we clearly see available tables. We believe it was because of our race (Asian). I don’t tend to care, but this time we stood out pretty well in this area and the vibe received is not so pleasant. We may be sensitive, but I don’t think so because it happened more than 5 times in the span of 3 days here.
However, Bar a viandes Cannibale restaurant owner, Johan, was one of the few who really greeted us warmly and provided a spectacular service throughout the night. A genuine and kind gentleman. It made our night, so we also ordered desserts to extend the night longer. It is our way to show appreciation to wonderful small businesses even when we were full.
If you’re ever in the area or looking for a unique food experience, this place would not disappoint. It is small and cute, so make sure to reserve in advance!
