We had reserved a table at the bar for drinks, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of our expectations. The cocktails were quite basic—I’ve had far more refined and creative versions in places where they cost just €6, not €24.
Service also left much to be desired. For example, when a waiter was going around turning on small lamps at each table, he inexplicably skipped ours. Similarly, another staff member was checking in with guests to see if everything was alright, but he passed by our table twice without a word. While I understand we weren’t staying at the hotel, it felt quite dismissive to be overlooked so openly.
As for the venue itself, it’s not particularly impressive—more like a small garden with no view to speak of.
In contrast, we had our dinner later at Timeo Hotel & Restaurant (Belmond, LVMH), and the experience there was exceptional. The staff were genuinely warm, the setting and views were stunning, and both food and drinks exceeded expectations. It truly felt like a luxury experience. If you are on vacation in Taormina, go there for sure!
All of this leads me to believe that this hotel is popular mainly because of the tv show, not because it offers anything remarkable. Unfortunately, the staff seemed unaware of what true luxury service entails—treating every guest with the same level of respect and attention, regardless of whether someone is dressed head-to-toe in Hermès or casually in a tank top and shorts.
