The brown butter adds a nuanced, nutty richness that elevates the base milk flavour. The sour cherry swirl brings a bright, refreshing tartness and genuine cherry acidity, providing a lively counterpoint to the buttery notes and creating a harmonious blend. Their gelato bars get even better - a dual-layered pistachio delight. The inner gelato is creamy and aromatic, with a pronounced pistachio flavour that’s bolstered by the crunchy outer coating, its fragrant nuttiness dissolved in a sea of rich milkiness.

During a recent visit to Bar Ape, we were treated to some truly remarkable soft serve. We opted for the special, a Peaches & Cream twist, which artfully combined Ontario peach and sweet cream flavors. We also indulged in the Matcha soft serve. Both choices were exquisite and demonstrated a clear commitment to quality ingredients. The matcha was a standout, presenting a distinct and authentic flavor that balanced beautifully with the soft serve's inherent sweetness. Similarly, the Peaches & Cream was a triumph, its vibrant fruit notes instantly recalling the simple pleasure of eating a perfectly ripe, juicy peach. 10/10 would eat again.

Friend had weekly soft serve and I had the strawberry and raspberry sundae. Their sundae was so good - the strawberry/raspberry puree (?) at the bottom tasted so fresh. Would love to go back to try their ice cream bars and other flavors. Definitely worth going out of your way for a visit Cash only!!!

One of the best gelato spots in Toronto! Love the weekly fresh selection of gelatos that change with seasonal fruit that is available. Every time I’ve been it has been awesome. Even though the lines are long, they move quick! Worth the wait for sure.

Worth the hype. Some of the best gelato I had in Toronto. Line moves quick. Dark Chocolate was unreal!!! If they could ever offer dairy free options, this place would be even better.

I tried one of the flavours of the week: Raspberry rose thyme. Had it as a soft serve. It was amazing. I licked my little cup dry. It was that amazing and also that hot out today. I took home a chocolate swirl cup. Haven't had that yet but I have high hopes. I need to come here more... even though I live downtown and the bike ride uphill makes you work for the gelato.

First of all, I love this place so much ❤️ I have visited place more than 10times and they were always kind and welcoming. I love how they combine unexpected flavours and create something extraordinary! Every time I visit there I always try at least 3 different flavours 😂 I think the prices are reasonable because it’s fresh made, clean ingredients, and vegan options. I don’t understand some people think this place would be same as other ice cream places 🤨✋ because it’s NOT. I promise that this place is different than other places. This place is cash only so make sure to bring cash or you wouldn’t get this ice cream from heaven. The last time I went the prices went up to 7dollars (?) but it’s worth it. The portion is bit small but I think it’s good because if you have too much ice cream your stomach wouldn’t feel good. I think they adjusted portion very well making us crave more but leaving us with refreshing taste! Bar Ape ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! There was no wait and even if there is it was about 10minutes! (Raspberry/Pistachio/matcha sundae/lime/guava/and more ❤️) *the flavours change! Make sure to try as many time as you can***

tried the mango and coconut twist — it was okay, not very flavorful but refreshing. The place is cash only, which was inconvenient, and the wait was surprisingly long for just a scoop of gelato. Overall, not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.
