Suitable for hungry people. The lomitos are fantastic. One is more than enough. If you want to share, 2, max 3 plates suffice. Atmosphere is traditional for Madrid. Small tables, cold beer, loud people having fun. Suitable for both food and drinks. You can have only drinks

Went here for an early bite of food . The coffee was great and so was the bread

Got the Daily plate - hamburger ternera with potatoes. It was damn good 👍 Nice atmosphere and all the staff are very kind. They had the option to deliver the burger in a plate without the bread and the vegetarian option too. Definitely coming back.

One of my favorite—if not my top!—bars in madrid, benteveo always hits at any time of day. Their breakfast menus are fantastic and I am a particular fan of their tortilla. The food at this bar is always fantastic. I love coming in for the menú del día, particularly on Fridays when they always have a milanesa. They also are cognizant of always having a veggie/vegan option. When you order a beer you often get a small tapa that is vegan (hummus or eggplant spread). The service is fantastic, the cañas are the right tiny size, the tapas are always tasty. What more can I say? I also love that Benteveo features local artists in their front window. Their dedication to the barrio and creating a community is really inspiring and—from my guiri perspective—is really what Madrid is all about.

Google
Well… VERY much recommend. Why? - lunch made from fresh daily supplies - not over salted or over cooked - fantastic value - wines impress - wonderful and passionate service Note that I was in this bar several times in November, so my feedback is based on a repetitive experience. I am escuela vieja, very diverse background in eating and drinking. So I do know, what I am taking about)) RECOMMENDED.

Stopped in for drinks. Grabbed a table. Loved that they had a pitcher for water and glasses available. Ordered some wine and the bar and sat back at the table. It was crowded and lively. We played a game of cards and enjoyed our drinks.

Google
Good atmosphere, decent prices, friendly staff The breakfast is tasty and cheap, I had the carrot cake which was a bit too sweet for my liking but still good The bread with tomato paste and egg is fresh and good The ham and cheese sandwich is good too Coffee was well done, pretty regular Lunch I had the sandwich with beef, ham and an egg, which was super filling for €7.50. The beer was slightly pricier, €3.20 for the larger glass

Yelp
This is probably my favorite place to go to for vermut during the day and drinks in the evening. Their tapas hit the spot and the drinks are priced well. The owners work during the day and are very nice. In the evenings, my favorite employees work too. They're super friendly and down to earth. They're approachable and easy to talk to. Plus they play great music and make great sandwiches at night. You can also tell that there are a bunch of regulars too because of the service and the atmosphere. The vibe is nice and cosy for breakfast and lunch. The one downside is that it can get pretty loud after midnight when the music gets louder and the bar gets packed, shoulder-to-shoulder, but I still love the place.

Yelp
Love this place! Food is delicious and one of the owners, Frederico, is very welcoming, friendly and speaks good English. Great location as well.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast! I most enjoyed their filled meat and/or cheese filled pastries. My favorite was the mozzarella/tomato/basil and my son thoroughly enjoyed his lamb/veal pastry. Cozy and very nice atmosphere. We are thinking we will go there again tomorrow!

Yelp
This is just past. It was a nice and economic place some time ago, but it is just a leg-pull now. Moreover, a non-friendly atmosphere. In a nutshell, a not recommended experience: there are lots of options in the area ;)

Yelp
hubby and i stumbled upon this place while searching for a place to have lunch. their special of the day was a 3-course special: salad or soup, seasoned chicken breast, and yogurt with fruits and nuts, all for €7.50! hubby had his heart set on the special of the day, but i wanted to explore some different items, so i chose the open faced salmon and brie sandwich. i tried some of hubby's food which was really good, i especially liked the chicken as it was seasoned really well with a light sauce that didn't overpower the chicken. my sandwich took a few extra minutes to prepare, but it was worth the wait as the cheese was perfectly melted onto the salmon and the bread and tasted absolutely scrumptious! when hubby's dessert was served, i tried a bit and it was pretty good as the yogurt was plain, but the flavour enhanced with the dried fruits and nuts. a very healthy and refreshing end to this meal. while the meal was good, the service was quite stellar as the small staff, maybe 2-3 gentlemen, did what they could to ensure that we had everything we needed and were extremely polite. i had some difficulties explaining what i needed at times, but hand gestures and my spanish-english dictionary came in handy! since we enjoyed ourselves so much, we came back for lunch later that week and i had the exact same sandwich. i guess you could say i really liked it, and even though i could probably get something like this in the states, it really was the best sandwich i'd had in spain so i didn't hesitate to have it a second time before the end of my trip. before we headed out, one of the gentlemen stopped us and asked where we were from and we told him that we live in california. we thanked him heartily, letting him know that this would be our last meal here since we were leaving spain the next day, but that we really enjoyed the food and appreciated the fine service. it is b/c of this gentleman that this cafe holds a special place in my heart. i still remember his face and what he was wearing that day, but most of all, i remember fondly his soft spoken voice and gentle demeanor - only wish i remembered to ask him name!! if i should return to madrid in the future, i'll be making a beeline for this cafe!

Yelp
A group of regulars can't be wrong, can they? I met some people at Benteveo. It's their regular spot after classes. It's a cozy place filled with people where you can still hold conversations about traveling, cinema, language, and so on. They have a decent selection of beer. I became a fan of Quilmes, an Argentine beer. I also shared a vegetable tosta with a friend. The vegetables were a nicely sauteed tender. You could taste the oil, a slight smack of salt, and their true flavor. Some places can saute vegetables into nothingness. I will probably return again. Bumping these up to 4 stars thanks to their delicious empanadas with flaky shells and great ground meat. Try some next time you visit.

Yelp
I came here a few times for breakfast, always the same-- ham, grated tomato, and olive oil on a slice of toast. I drank fresh-squeezed orange juice and cafe con leche with it. Love this place so much and it's so cheap!

Yelp
Tasty food and really affordable. Highly recommend for travelers. Toast, quiche, and lomitos were all great.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. We found this based on Yelp reviews and its proximity to the Prado museum. We wanted to eat quickly and get to the museum in the morning. The owner was very kind and understanding with us as foreigners. We didn't know the breakfast menu was simply written on the chalkboard when we entered. They had combo meals that included fried eggs with tomato toast (not the cheap kind you see in most restaurants--this was a nice layer of bruschetta like tomato over a thick slab of excellent bread toasted to perfection) or jamon on toast, or croissant with marmalade. All combos included a drink. My son doesn't drink coffee, so the owner gave me his and gave my son free water to drink. All told, we ate a quick breakfast, had excellent service and the eggs and toast (and baked goods) were cooked to perfection. The five of us got out of there for much less than 20 euros. Go here for breakfast!

Yelp
No frills spot. Good tostada de tomate (tomato on toast) with red peppers / cheese, etc. Great fresh squeezed Orange Juice too.

Yelp
Service was awesome and so quick! Food was delicious-- we had the bread, tomato, garlic and egg -- and also the Spanish tortilla. Our favorite breakfast ever!! Definitely want to come back and highly recommended!!

Yelp
Came here seeking brunch on a cold Sunday. The breakfast menu is incredibly limited. I had toast, coffee, and Spanish casserole. It was okay and only cost three Euros, but not the brunch I was looking for.

Yelp
This place is uphill from the Lapies metro stop. Directly uphill. So prepare yourself. I found it fairly easily. I sat at the bar, which has a nice view downhill. I ordered the toast w/ tomato & jamon. It came w/ tea for less than 4 euros. It was nothing amazing, but the service was welcoming even though the servers/bartenders were constantly multitasking. The best thing about this spot is the reasonable prices.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch after several hours at Museum Reine Sofia. Easy going staff, really friendly, waited on us right away. They offered a lunch special for €8,50 that was tasty, just honest, simple delicious food. Choice of starters was either a gazpacho (the green kind made with avocado) or tabouli. I had one and my husband the other... They were both super delicious. The main was braised pork chunks in a red sauce with a fried egg and boiled potatoes on the side. We were in a hurry so just had coffee and tea for our dessert but a postre was normally included in the price. The kind of place you feel comfortable in and want to come back.

Yelp
Very satisfying selection of hot open face sandwiches and empanadas. Wine is delicious. Easy to find a spot!
