On the Grid : Bar Calders

"Bar Calders was one of the neighbourhood’s pioneers, before the explosion of Sant Antoni. The big red wooden doors and the amazing terrace on this pedestrian street invite you to sit down and have a drink, or a bite to eat, at any time of day. Simple, and tasty Mediterranean style food." - Malva Sawada & Enric Badrinas

Amazing food and service. I sat outside, and the waiters were amazing and super attentive, and very friendly explaining a lot to me about vermouth where I got amazing flavors of. Super thankful to the waiters served us, and rosemary curry fried potato were amazing!!! Will come back when visiting Barcelona next time!

Amazing unpretentious and very tasty food, good drinks and fun atmosphere - all for an accessible price! We had a pear pizza, cheese and pesto sandwich, cheesecake and aperol spritz. Everything was on point! Added to our barcelona's favorites for sure 🫶🏼

Google
A delightful local tapas find. We had the prawn croquette, pork croquette, enchiladas and Picasso eggs. Their croquettes batter was so light, I dare say it was one of the best I’ve had. Picasso eggs were cube shaped eggs eaten with the Iberian ham and mushrooms - tasted quite interesting. Enchiladas were good but I would probably try out other dishes in the future. Prices were decent (food without drinks about €20 ish) and were enough to feed two pax for a light meal before we went on tapas bar hopping.

My favorite tapas place in all of Barcelona. The bar is unpretentious but incredibly cute, with friendly staff and delicious food at a reasonable price. I can’t express enough how much I love it here!

Google
Such a great spot for tapas and drinks, the restaurant is on Parlament Street in San Antoni which is famous for its atmosphere, bars and restaurants. I like how the tapas is not your usual tapas, they try different flavours. They have a bottle cider (can’t remember the name) which is the best I’ve found in Barcelona. The outside is a nice seating area as it is protected and has heaters for the winter, inside is cute with a cosy atmosphere. The mozzarella sticks are the best I’ve found here too!

Everything was perfect, from the atmosphere to the tapas selection on the menu. The croquettes are not to miss. Staff was really friendly too. I totally recommend! ❤️

Yelp
What a fun place, we were randomly walking around town, trying to stay away from the tourists place and came across this restaurant! It had an outdoor tent set up outside with brightly colored table cloths and chairs. It seemed so inviting. So we had to go! As soon as we sat down something came over and welcomed us! We stopped and get a few tapas and some drinks. All of the food was excellent! We highly checking this place out and trying everything! We can't wait to go back again! Highly recommend

Yelp
A great place to meet a group of friends, Bar Calders offers up an array of options "para picar", as well as a few main dishes. Mostly Mediterranean fare with a few Tex-Mex plates, they offer up something for everyone. Furthermore, they have a large and well-spaced terrace, allowing one to enjoy one's meal outside, far away from other guests. Woohoo! As good as it gets!

Yelp
Caution: This place is Hit or Miss. I've had great food, and a great time 2 of my visits, but my last visit was rather mediocre. The setting is great, the prices are fine for the quality and the type of presentation... It can get very crowded with a long wait - and this is where the problems come into play. The service can be very dismissive, even flippant to those waiting. People who just arrive can snag a table before those who have been waiting patiently - and the servers won't blink an eye. pues, that's the way it goes here sometimes. The last time we came - I ordered "ous picasso" and my friend ordered a quesadilla. my eggs came out within a decent time... but I was waiting for the quesadilla to come for my friend. waited about 7 minutes before I started picking at my food, because it was getting cold and I was hungry. I finished the small serving of food after 30 minutes, and as they were taking my plate away, we asked for the check and cancelled the quesadilla. They finally brought it out saying it "takes time to prepare". A quesadilla takes 40 minutes to fire from the time it was ordered? At least come up with a believable excuse! It's a shame, I like the place... but if you have to go in there wondering what kind of night you're gonna have - it's not worth it. Especially since there are so many great new places in this part of town. This could be a 4.5 star place, but they are inconsistent and after the last visit, I'd have given them a 2.

Yelp
Great spot on Parlament. The host was fantastic. This place has a lot of vegetarian options considering there are few places in Barcelona that serve a good amount of veg options. We ordered all of the veg dishes and everyone of them was flavorful and apetizing. Nachos; Cheese plate; Ensilada; Spicy olives; japanese desert and choc coulant. Great beers and sangria.

Yelp
I absolutely love Calders! The food is fantastic, the gin and tonics top-notch, and the atmosphere nothing short of enchanting! This is the sort of place that I would one day love to live above: Classy, comfortable, friendly! Calders has an amazing Catalan menu, plus some fabulous drinks! I recommend ordering a vermouth and join some friends on the ample patio on a late Sunday morning. Few things get that close to perfection in life!

Yelp
This was such a great accidental find!! I loved this tapas bar, a hidden gem. Reasonably priced, really cute and trendy atmoshere, attentive service, and great vibes. Really great for kicking back with friends and relaxing and soaking up barcelona night life. Curry fries were awesome and nachos I spied on looked tasty!

Yelp
I am really disappointed in this bar. I have been living close by for many years and hadn't been in a while. It was my birthday on Sunday and after lunch my friends and I decided to go to Bar Calders. After we left I had realized that I had left a box of really delicious sweets that my friends had given me. I hadn't even opened them and when I went back to retrieve it, NOT 20 mins later, the entire staff had eaten about a quarter of the box. They even tried to lie about it until I caught them. They really could have waited a while before digging in. Place isn't good enough for me to return. Crummy service!

Yelp
TOTAL RIP OFF! €50 We waited 1 hour for a small plate of mediocre "Jabugo" ham. Spanish ham should be cut thing by hand (it is also ok with machine if is a leg without bone) but this was so thin that you could see your fingers through it when holding it. Very small plate, 5 pieces of "Pa de vidre" (thin bread with scrubbed tomato) and small plate off thin cheese (it was "sweeting") and 3 "medianas" for drink.

Yelp
Had a great light meal with friends. Some of the tapas are a bit expensive for the amount you are served but still, the food was certainly great. Go there pretty early or you might not get a table

Yelp
Having been recommended this place by a local, I had expectations of a good meal, but was extremely disappointed by the food and lack of value for money. It seemed like most people around us were drinking not eating, and I guess we should have done the same. The worst example of what we ordered were the chicken nuggets special - 4 dry, small pieces of chicken for Eur 6.9. McDonald's would have been tastier and cheaper. You might say it was our fault for ordering chicken nuggets, but the waiter had effusively recommended them to us. Unequivocally the worst meal we had during our four days in Barcelona.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this place! A real feel-good, relaxt place to have dinner or just a drink. Because it is so popular there was no place left on the terrace on a warm summer night, so we sat inside. A bit cramped there, with a table too small to place the drinks, plates and differente tapa dishes. On the other hand, the food is great, good combinations of ingredients and tastes. I will definitely come again!
