"The Oldest Neighborhood Pub in le Plateau Chez Baptiste has been open since 1922 and although it recently underwent a rejuvenating identiity change, it still holds that old-world mystique that only places this old can have. Times have changed. Fashion has changed. Residents have changed. And the people to go into Baptiste too. Especially those who are hockey fans -- hockey players are now paid millions, and they even wear a mask. To think of how different things were when Baptiste open is mind-boggling. But one thing I'm certain is that the staff still serve the finest brews with the same sincere smile at their predecessor. Often described as a "best friends hangout", the watering hole is mostly frequented by regulars, groups of friends that simply want to grab a few pints and make new world domination plans together (that's what friends do, right?) At Baptiste, the stress is left out of the door and that's when the fun starts. Good times ahead, folks."

Was out bar hopping with a friend and ended up here after a great run of spots. Unfortunately, this place brought the mood down fast. 1. First Impression: We were ignored for quite a while when we got to the bar. I had to physically get someone’s attention before we were even acknowledged. The woman behind the bar didn’t ask us anything—just waited for us to guess what to say. Felt rushed and unclear. 2. Second Round: My friend asked for a repeat of his drink, but they gave him mine instead. Then they gave me a rum with anise in it, even though all I wanted was a simple Captain Morgan mix. I can’t stand the taste of anise, so that completely ruined it. 3. Attitude: What really got to me was how differently the bartender treated other customers. She was polite and friendly with them—but cold, impatient, and borderline rude with us. It was very obvious.

Bar Chez Baptiste was a very good experience. We stumbled onto it by accident looking for some food and a drink. We were not disappointed. The smoked meat sandwich was very tasty and a good price, but the real show stopper was the drinks. The strawberry mohito was definitely worth the stop. Aside from that all of the drinks were pretty cheap and shots cost next to nothing. Really nice vibes with a very friendly staff. Would come back again!

The bartenders are super sweet and nice. They spoke to us in English (because our French is still a work in progress), recommended amazing cocktails, and treated us with kindness. The food was great and the ambience was warm and welcoming. We’re sure to return in the future.

Don't order the smoked meat sandwich...it's the size of a walnut I swear I've never seen a smaller sandwich in my life... I get it times are rough but if you're gonna serve a smoked meat sandwich make it bigger than a kids meal

This is a nice bar. The bar tenders are really friendly and are genuinely concerned with your happiness. The food is pretty solid too, considering the no nonsense nature of the venue. Also friendly to anglophones :) This place gets busy.

Today after paying for one pitcher of sangria and giving 8% tips waiter became angry and said "In Quebec it's 15%, I earned nothing and need to pay for you the rest". Do you force your labour to pay if they don't met tips quota?

We decided to come here for a girls night out... place is dark and cozzy. The bartender was nice and the music was okay nothing to crazy. Food menu had not very much selection but enough to keep you going if you're hungry. 2 for 9 or 1 for 5 either jerky or hummus and pita However I didn't realize a lot of people were on something so that was a buzz kill. Had a weird encounter with a guy he was saying some pretty weird stuff to us so we had to leave.

This is the 2nd time I visit this pub, the first was about a year ago with the MTL beer runners and I have no idea way I dont come here more often. They have a nice selection of tap beers and the bonous a deal of 5.75$ on a pint of IPA !(Guinness is a bit pricey 8.5$). The music was a bit loud but the play list was super cool , brought back so many memories and helped made my night. The only thing I dont like about this place is that they accept ONLY cash

I use to go there with friends, it's a regulard bar and it's well known by Students for a good variety of local / imported beer. The place is always packed around 9:00 until late. It's a nice place to gather and drink while listening to good music. Lot of French, Quebec music. I fell kind of stock because there is nothing really extraordinary with that place other than the important thin in a bar: Cheap beer Good beer Good and friendly ambiance. There's some art on the wall from local artist that you can buy. It changes once in a while and it had to what I call the Hippie-trendy-cool ambiance the bar is fill up with. Expect to see: Boréale, Hoegaarden, Leffe, Guiness, Cheval Blanc, Stella,and commercial brand. Served in Pint (not the tiny american one) and to pay from 4 to 7$

"Extended" Happy Hour, from 2:00pm to 9:00pm. Try their Scotch Ale on tap... Service super attentif et attentionné, prix très raisonnables, une sélection de bières en spécial à tous les jours/soirs... La musique est soutenable dans la mesure où il est possible d'entretenir une conversation de plus de 2 phrases avec son voisin et d'entendre tous les mots desdites phrases... Décor de taverne...ce que Baptiste a toujours été... Si vous êtes chanceux(se), vous tomberez sur un lancement (album, livre, pièce) et serez invité(e) à vous joindre au party... Rue Mont-Royal oblige, une terrasse est installée devant l'établissement lorsque le soleil de printemps fait jaillir des premiers (chauds) rayons... Sans être un "incontournable", Chez Baptiste se veut une valeur sûre.

It's an ok bar. I was here mid afternoon and it wasn't very busy. Reasonable prices for beer. Their house brew is very smooth and easy to drink. They had the hockey game on but then turned it off mid game. Odd decision since they just turned off the tv entirely. They accept cash and debit only.

Don't ask for tip! Me and my friend tipped every single time, one time we didn't tip because it was our last drinks and we were gonna leave it at the table. The waitress asked tip from us and gave us some story about how she gets taxed. This is bullshit, people should never expect tip and we will never come back here again. Worst place ever

We have come here twice on a Sunday afternoon, waiting for my friend to get home, who lives nearby. The beer is excellent, and the music was lovely. The barman was funny. The on-tap beers my British husband loved, and since I wasn't drinking, I was delighted that orange juice and sprite was less than $2! Two things that would make it better... not hot food (but the barman let us buy food from next door and eat it there) and it'd be great if it had an outdoor space... it's quite dark in there for afternoons!
