Bar da Lapa is one of the classic spots to dance or enjoy live music in this vibrant neighborhood. It can get quite crowded, especially on the ground floor where space is limited. However, you can head upstairs (note: there’s an extra fee!) for more room and a great view of the stage – a much more comfortable experience. One note of caution: keep an eye on your bill, as some waiters have a tendency to add items you didn’t order... especially if you look like a tourist 😉.

You order 1 beer, they bring a bucket of 6 and argue something?! 😳 When you're about to leave, it's 2 beers on your account (and 4 cancelled) 🙄 Triple check your account. Been here on Tuesday evening. Sad state of affairs. The band was checking from where people come (which state of Brazil), and seems there's zero people from Rio itself. Oh, yes, I saw (and smelt) some fries they serve here. Feels like a kilo of potato with 2 kilos of oil. You'll feel it whenever 2 tables away from you.

Tried to scam us and make us pay more than twice the value of our drinks pretexting we had more beers even tho we stayed around 10mn in the bar. The "security" staff is very rude. Will definitely not go back.

Came here for a last minute show, did not know what to expect. but ended up meeting an amazing crowd ready from top to bottom and lively music. The staff from the security to the guy cleaning the bathroom were so friendly and good sports. The live entertainment was actually what tied the whole night together

This place is a joke. We only came in because the music was good but what a mistake. They hand you a card when you enter for your tab and then you are sent on a wild goose chase to get a drink. They upsold drinks without checking so we had to pay way more than advertised. Then they make it nearly impossible to pay so we were quite literally HELD CAPTIVE!!!! We tried to pay on our way out and were sent to the back of the bar to pay our tab (one drink each!) just so we could leave!! THEN they had the cheek to try to charge service and when I asked for it to be removed they had to get a manager over to do it??? Then in the time it took us to leave, our uber doubled in price. Thanks a lot!

Stopped in for about 20 minutes one evening, enjoyed the music. Me and my friends enjoyed a drink each this time but afterwards it was awkward. The individual card system wasn't really explained (one friend understood Portuguese), but it would seem at the end they didn't even bother with it because they checked and rushed my friends out of the bar, and we assumed we'd pay at the front on the way out, but then they stopped me (the last one) and pointed me to the back to pay for my group's drinks alone. Also the security were a little handsy when it came to ushering people along. I get it for sluggly drunk people but otherwise the physical interaction is kind of unnecessary. If I'm in town again I'd give the place another chance, as it was Carnaval, but also I don't blame some of the reviews lol

As a YouTuber, I try to be as transparent as I can. The party and food here were good. BUT THE SECURITY AND WAY IT IS RUN IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. We had a group of 30 people and everyone had a bad time. Security was overbearing and rude, customer service was terrible and the security puts hands on people instead of talking . Never going back. Yesterday may 14 2025, it was so crowded it was impossible to move. Very dangerous in case of emergency. They should have limits about how many people can go inside. I had to leave because it was impossible to have fun. Disaster
