Google
Perfect spot for late night drinks in Paris. Service was about what you’d except for two young Americans drinking wine close to 1am. People watching was great, they serve you a little stale popcorn (I enjoy all popcorn) and it was pretty affordable. Walking by throughout our trip I saw it was busy almost every night. Sort of wish we went back another time because I liked the vibe but we only went once.

Google
Didn't eat here but stopped for late drinks a couple of times on our recent first trip to Paris. The male staff are costumed as traditional French working men, with overalls / rompers and caps giving strong Jean Paul Gautier vibes. They were extremely kind on our visits there and we'll definitely find our way back. Also, great terrace, great people watching, nice bar snacks.

Google
Best bar !!! Loved going here, chill atmosphere, had a drink and snack whilst watching the streets of Paris. Nicolas especially was wonderful, always smiling and attentive. Will definitely be coming back !!

Google
Good bar for a drink and observing the Parisian atmosphere. The food is a little overpriced (but normal compared to the area). I had the Penne Napolitaine and it was generally tasteless, like it was made with store-bought sauce, so wouldn’t recommend, especially for €21… Otherwise good and quick service.

Google
Bad experience really rude waiter. Terrible weak drinks and food from a dirty kitchen. Rip off don’t go spend your money where it deserves to be spent. First bad experience all trip been touring Italy and Greece and France met amazing people but not this cock. Better places to spend you cash that treat you like a human. Also large cockroach in the filthy pee smelling toilet. Very poor.

Google
This is my go-to bar since I came to live in Paris in January. It has the best staff, music, ambiance, food and drinks. I absolutely love it, it brings out a true French experience.

Google
The worst tourist trap in Paris. Staff was friendly, but unfortunately that’s the only real positive. Every drink I ordered was overpriced and tasted weak, watery, and uninspired — just not enjoyable at all. And yet they charge over €10 per cocktail without hesitation. The food also leaves a lot to be desired — bland, overpriced, and nowhere near the standard you’d expect in Paris. There’s no shortage of great spots along Rue de Buci, so do yourself a favor and choose literally any other place nearby. You’ll get better drinks, better food, and a much better vibe.

Google
Decent bar that's very popular and serves drinks, including cocktails, and snack foods. Nice location with a good set of tables outside that are covered with heaters. Inside is a traditional bar on one side and restaurant on the other. Nice dining area and food is fast and service is at the table Overall a good place for a few drinks and snacks

Yelp
This is right across the street from Paul. My companion decided for us to come here instead given my rule of wanting to try new places. Let me tell you - I wish he hadn't listened to me. Paul was great, this place? Not so much. Ordered a coffee and some cheesy eggs. My companion had a Coke and a sandwich. One of us also had a croissant. I believe it was me, but I don't particularly remember. My point in all this is that the food was unmemorable at best. That and we wound up at Paul after. Not to say that the food here was terrible. It was just bland and there are so many other places that should probably be explored or even repeated before coming here.

Yelp
Stop by for a quick bite while on the food tour. We started with the escargot. Our guide then suggested duck breast but we had just had that the night before so we decided to go with the sweetbread. It's the meat from the throat of a calf. In the spirit of being in a foreign country I'm willing to try it all. It was surprisingly good, very tender + juicy and it came with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Yelp
I had a beautiful coffee here !! I'm vegetarian so the server recommended the first salad ! Goat cheese & of course I paired it with fries !! Ambiance and people watching is what you get when you sit outside .. along with the French language as people eat and sip coffee !! 8 out of ten !

Yelp
A regrettable culinary experience. The wine was not good either. Anywhere worse might be better.

Yelp
Super rude wait staff. Tell me how a 33 CL Carlsberg is 3.60, but a 50CL Carlsberg is 10.70. They told me to wait inside until the table came available outside, and two different people came from the street, and they sat them first. Just so happens that those people were FRENCH. Don't go here if you're an American tourist.

Yelp
Great corner location for people watching and pretty quick and friendly service. There aren't many options for a full meal but I generally like a light French breakfast anyway and the bread was good and the orange juice was fresh and flavorful. They let me have a double espresso and still charged the standard breakfast price. I sat on the corner, smoked like a chimney, ate my croissant and felt French. Great experience.

Yelp
This place was minutes from our hotel, they had an English menu and an English. Did they hav the most amazing French food? Well No but it was pretty good and they were open late and service was quick! I had a crepe for dinner and my husband had the beef bourguignon. Sitting outside was perfect and so French, I loved it!

Yelp
More of a light snack place than a full fledged restaurant, Le Bar du Marche has surprisingly attentive French service, low prices, and an excellent location to people watch. Whomever owns this restaurant must be a huge fan of "Come on Eileen," as everyone on staff is wearing overalls and looks vaguely like the members of the Dexys Midnight Runners. Questionable fashion choices aside, I really enjoyed the vibe of Le Bar du Marche. The French get a lot of hate for their terrible service, so it was surprising how good it was here. I mean sure, the waiter took his time getting to us, but the French believe in leaving the customer alone and only come back if absolutely necessary. My girlfriend and I decided to keep it light, ordering the ham & cheese baguette and croque monsieur. The bread all over this country is amazing, and it maintained its high quality here. I should've taken a picture of the menu to get the names right, but you'll just have to go off my pictures below. Our meal at Le Bar du Marche was light, cheap, and perfect for what we wanted. Don't expect a big meal here - just come for a light snack and people watch.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast. The general area is great for window shopping and people watching. We sat inside to escape the smokers. We both got an omelet, mine was with cheese. There was a mix up and the wife thought she ordered a veggie omelet but ended up with a plain one. We don't know where it went wrong since the waitress knew English. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. The food was just so-so. Both omelets were undercooked for our taste, to the point of being runny. The eggs were fresh but nothing terribly special. Kind of pricey--25 euro for two omelets and tea/coffee. We probably would not eat here again.

Yelp
Nice place, pretty okay staff and I liked their Americano. Black coffee.

Yelp
This review is strictly for Le Bar du Marche late night because this is where we stumbled to two nights in a row. We didn't eat anything. Just drank. Drank lots. Bottles and bottles of wine. At night, the atmosphere here can't be beat. Crowded, rowdy, smoky, and loud. A good mix of locals and tourists. We had fantastic service the first night especially. I think our waiter was amused that 3 Americans were downing wine the way we were. Great people watching and good drink selection. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place for a night cap.

Yelp
Very cute place for brunch. I found it when I was hungry while doing my laundry across the street. I had a tasty ham and cheese omelette. Service was typical French leisurely pace but waiters were nice and spoke English.

Yelp
This is one of the greatest spots in Saint-Germain. It is perfectly located between the Rue de Seine and the Rue de Bucci. If you want to rest for a while after a long day of shopping and walking, this is the place where you will feel like a Germanopratin (that's how inhabitants of Saint-Germain are called). Lots of young people with sunglasses (even without sun), women wearing fur (even if it's not cold), but beyond all that two things are important to notice. One: the waiters are surprisingly nice and fast. Two: the prices are quite low for such an edgy and pretentious spot. It's worth dropping by before going to have a cocktail somewhere else (to the Mezzanine or the Prescription for example).

Yelp
Was treated poorly and mocked when trying to communicate in French. Seems that foreigners are unwelcome, even if they are trying to be as polite as possible.
google avatar

Erin T.

Yelp
Great place for people watching. Tiny tables crowded together so you'll have to be comfortable squeezing past others in order to grab a seat. Music is close by providing a wonderful ambiance.
google avatar

Sahil B.

Yelp
Both of their chefs are creep. They stare at you like they have never seen a human being. Food was ok. Toilet was broken and light wasn't working.
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible service on the outdoor terrace. The waiter was nasty and very slow. When I ordered a coffee and nothing else he commented sarcastically"oh well it's just fine that you are taking up a table just for a coffee" Message received, he doesn't want customers, I won't be back.

Yelp
We just happened upon this place walking from the train station back to our hotel. It's not on too busy of a street, so it's not too noisy. The waiters are friendly. Didn't experience the waiters yelling orders like another reviewer. Just had drinks. Down-rated a star because they would not serve us a large water since we were not ordering food. Otherwise, we loved the place!

Yelp
This is THE people-watching spot in Saint-Germain, in my opinion. Le Bar du Marché is packed ALL THE TIME - something that amazed me as I walked by it everyday. It was not far from our hotel, so it became a routine to have a nightcap here, particularly because the buzz inside and outside was always so alluring. It looks happening...so it must be happening? One plus, it's not all tourists. One negative, the locals who do go here think very highly of themselves. I guess this is actually a very chichi area, but be prepared to bump shoulders with individuals who have clearly spent hours on their appearances, only to stick cigarettes into their mouths and feign disinterest in everything around them. Regardless, they have a great drink list, the location is outstanding and the service is fast. You can be both a participant and a voyeur here - and if you have the energy and patience, it's really quite fun.

Yelp
We dropped in for lunch at Le Bar du Marche. The Hot Dog Avec Fromage, Chips and a glass of wine made for a nice lunch in Saint-Germain.

Yelp
Completely overpriced. Silly uniforms on the waiters. Loud. Too busy, ALL THE TIME. Why go to Bar du Marché? Because it has some of the best people watching in Paris. Because even though the servers are constantly screaming orders at the bartender and you're going to pay around 9€ for a pint on the terrasse, you will become enchanted with this neighborhood favorite. My advice, come early in the morning for a coffee and read one of Le Parisiens floating around the bar. Watch locals coming and going from their errands, tourists wandering the streets, well-heeled shoppers pursuing the boutiques, it's endless entertainment, and your café allongé will only run you about 2€. For an apéro, try to come early to snag a seat, otherwise it's standing room only, and you'll have to fight for a corner of the bar to lean your elbow on. Menu is pretty limited. Think: tartines, hot dog (?), fries. You're better off wandering around to find something a bit more delectable. Boisson: 7/10 Bouffe: 3/10 Ambiance: 8/10

Yelp
Lovely afternoon spent here just people watching, pretty good service relative to the European mode vs USA...Waiter was friendly and funny--spoke English very well. Would go back for the burger for sure...it had some amazing cheese and prosciutto on it!
google avatar

Shiva N.

Yelp
At night it is a Nice place to have a drink in a lively neighborhood and not more. They had little snacks but if you are looking for something to eat with your drink, this is not a place. We ordered Croquet Monsieur, which was really small and price was 8€!
google avatar

Cynthia D.

Yelp
One word...rude. 4 Euros for coffee....another 4 for Croissant...another 4 for jus or whatever....I suggest going 3 doors down to Smiths Bakery. Delicious coffee and Croissant for Euros 3.40. And they are a delight.

Yelp
Wow - this was incredible good food. Steak was great as well as the pasta carbonara. Fairly priced and service was good. Will most likely return.

William G.

Yelp
One of our favourite cafes in Paris. Outstanding staff and a delicious croque monsieur. Set perfectly for a lazy cafe ah lait while watching the students and all the beautiful people of Paris go about their day

Yelp
My fav. spot ! Great staff and great food, Lunch time would be the best. Just a few min. from St.Germain.
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect typical Parisian bistrot, great at any time in the day, from breakfast (cafe creme + baguette + croissant) to late in the evening (crowed terrasse and bar area, serving wine, coffees and cocktails), including lunch and aperitif during the day. Try to seat at the terrasse and watch life in St Germain happen in front of you. Highly recommended
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best bars in Paris and for sure St-Germain for the locals and a typical Parisian place to meet ... dont come for the food but come for the fun and entertainment... located on the corner of the best street in St-Germain this bar fills up early mostly by locals and some tourists.. It can go late but at its prime early evening, the outside chairs and tables are prime real estate.. Also a cool morning coffee quite coffee bar..

Yelp
This place is worth checking out simply for the typically Parisian decor and waiters. I love coming here on dates or with a group. It's located very close to Odeon, the rue St Andre des Arts, and Notre Dame. It's also great for people watching in the summer from the sidewalk seating!!!

Qype User (parisp…)

Yelp
Love stopping in here after grocery shopping at nearby Champion. This is a busy intersection and oftentimes street musicians are performing right in front of the cafe, The service is great and fast. A great place to watch the buzz of the busy Rue de Buci and Saint Andre des Arts. They often have jazz on their sound system.

Naomi G.

Yelp
Great spot to unwind after being in/loving Paris. Very friendly staff, fantastic soupe a l'oignon and frites, lovely Happy Hour (5-8PM), perfect location in Le Marais. Highly recommend.

Andrew R.

Yelp
Prime spot to watch the world go by. Friendly, decent prices. Not a restaurant but club sandwich is very nice.

Yelp
Chilled out singles type bar in Paris. Good to go to if you want to mingle. Style is typically Parisian

Yelp
Was flirted right into the back seats of this crowded bar by the cute waiter, Vincent, who was funny, fast and very good at his job. Loved the lively atmosphere and cosy red lit interior, we had cocktails until they kicked us out at 2am. Only downside is the dirty toilet that only accommodates one person at a time. Would definitely recommend and visit again!

Yelp
3.5 stars. i found this place on the recommendation of time out the first time i was in paris about eight years ago. it's a cute, cheerful cafe with friend waiters decked out in overalls and delicious omelettes. flash forward nearly eight years, and to my delight it is still here and just the same as i recall. it is a very good option for a hot drink and/or snack in this neighborhood, especially for the price. it does not have the historic ambiance and hustle of say cafe de flore or deux magots, but it is simple and pleasant. definitely recommend!
