This Charming Louisville Hotel Brings Parisian Flair To The Bourbon City - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"A chic sixth-floor rooftop bar with grand chandeliers, arched cognac leather chairs, green checkered tiles and deep emerald finishes that balance vintage character with modern polish. It offers sweeping views of the city and the Ohio River, a simple menu of light French-inspired bites (including a Hot Brown Monsieur) for afternoon snacking, and hand-crafted cocktails made from fresh ingredients — the espresso martini is highlighted as particularly well-executed."

Stunning rooftop bar with a cozy, moody ambiance. Perfect for a GNO or date night. There’s both outdoor and indoor seating with a variety of table sizes for any group. Cocktail menu is small but mighty with fun drinks that span palettes. We were able to walk in on a Saturday night and secure an indoor table for 6 with no problem. The staff are also super friendly and fun which adds to the overall experience.

Amazing Wedding Shower Venue!! I am so grateful to the Staff at Bar Genevieve and most importantly to the Sales Director, Samantha Taylor, for organizing the most wonderful wedding shower for my daughter and her fiancé. This venue is perfect for a shower of any kind!!! The space is beautiful, open and airy with perfect flow from the bar to the semi-private room, to the balcony. The food (brunch and bubbly!) was amazing, I mean my guests talked about how good the scrambled eggs were- when does that happen??!! Samantha also coordinated a private bourbon tasting for our (~30) guests with the Frazier Bourbon Museum-hosted by “Sippin with Stephen”- it was fantastic! My guests have all reached out to say what a great time they had, and my daughter was beaming and so happy that the event was such a success. Thank you, thank you, thank you Samantha Taylor and Bar Genevieve staff- you are wonderful!!!! Bae’s bakery provided a beautiful and delicious cake with huge chewy cookies that were just a perfect sweet ending to the brunch! Ballou Designs set up the most lavish and gorgeous balloon arch for dozens of group photos-highly recommend!!!

This is such a fun place a date night! Very awesome view of Louisville, which is great at night with all the lights. The bar has lots of options even if you don't drink. Very unique choices as well. The patio area is nice with an outdoor bar (which was closed when we were there so not sure when it's available). There is great seating and a cozy fireplace too. Super fun place to hang out for a bit!

Google
Never served and unprofessional staff. We were here for asking 15-20 min without ever being served. Initially we're given a glass of water and asked what we wanted and we requested they stop back in a couple minutes. 15+ min later our waters were empty, we had been ready to order for a while and nobody would take our orders. WE WERE SITTING AT THE BAR, and couldn't order a drink. On top of that staff was busy dancing, talking about who's gonna be bar back tomorrow and how that'll be fun, and loudly discussing the price of customers bills. They were having a grand time while we never got served.

Bar Genevieve in Louisville offers a charming, intimate setting with a thoughtfully curated cocktail menu. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening out. Their inventive drinks, paired with excellent service, make for a memorable experience. A hidden gem for cocktail lovers in the city.

Google
Cocktail menu was interesting, indoor bar area was pretty! We sat outside on the rooftop overlooking the city (rooftop bar was not open even though almost every table was full outside).

Google
Much to be desired in the way of “food” choices. Very limited menu. Drinks were NuLu priced- aka not cheap. But atmosphere made coming up for a drink not bad when already staying at the hotel.

Google
We ended up not staying at this bar or ordering anything due to the one host. When we arrived, one host told us that we could walk through and seat ourselves anywhere that did not have a reserved sign. As we were trying to sit, a different host walked up to us very quickly and told us that we were not allowed to sit without his permission. The table we had selected was given to a different couple as the second host was telling us all this. I felt uncomfortable by the miscommunication between the two hosts and we left.

Yelp
I peed off the roof at this place on a Tuesday evening. With that said, great cocktails and solid bites. I promise I won't peepee again.

Yelp
This place is attached to the hotel we were staying in. I love a rooftop bar and this one didn't disappoint. The view is nice and there was lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor. Each pace has its own bar. Our server was great but she was the only server outside, which was packed, so drinks took a bit of time to get to us. Drinks were really good. They have espresso martini towers, which I was really excited about. I plan on getting one of those next time!

Yelp
We came here for a drink while waiting for dinner across the street. The patio was first come, first served and it wasn't too busy so grabbed a few spots at the outdoor bar. The drinks were delicious. Like, 10/10 great. I was underwhelmed when my $15 cocktail was served in a plastic cup though. If it's above $10, I deserve a glass. I said what I said. It cheapened the experience for sure. Other than that, service was great. View was incredible. It was a 5 star experience other than drinking out of plastic.

Yelp
We wandered over here for a quieter nightcap after dinner at a raucous venue down the street. Service was great here and we were all pleased with our beverage choices. I opted to have a no alcohol option since I had a bit of a drive and a next day early wake-up. I appreciated the choices and one of the lesser known options being offered. Beautiful space and terrific views day or night. Well maintained and fairly comfortable. Seating in the bar area with smaller tables did make us feel a bit "sunken" below the table top height when seated and tipped backward at a bit of an uncomfortable angle.

Yelp
I recently had a solo girl dinner at Bar Genevieve, and it was an excellent experience! That was my first time visiting their space, and I really loved the decor, the vibes, and of course, the rooftop views! They do a happy hour special during the week with $5, $10, and $15 bubbles. I ordered the $5 bubbles to drink, and for my "girl dinner", I had the bar fries and the corn ribs. Both were so flavorful and perfectly seasoned! My server was very attentive and friendly. When I went to the terrace to check out more of the rooftop views during golden hour, I even got to witness a romantic proposal! I will definitely be going back to try more of their menu soon!

Yelp
Went there for brunch and left somewhat disappointed. Cute restaurant on the sixth floor. There was seating inside and outside - but for brunch, there wasn't any service outside. Looking at the menu and place, I had high expectations and was ready for delicious food. Food was okay. Avocado toast was decent. French toast was unimpressive. Mimosa did not have fresh orange juice. Overall, nice location and ambience. Quality of brunch food did not live up to expectations.

Yelp
We were visiting a speakeasy in the back when we decided to go somewhere else. This was the closest and we were happy to stop for drinks. It's a roof top bar with indoor/outdoor space and they made well balanced cocktails. Our server was funny and attentive, making the experience that much better.

Yelp
Quiet Sunday night-enjoyed our cocktails. Enjoyed the smashburger & half dozen oysters. Kitchen was out of croquettes & dates tonight. Our service was great! Was a little chilly inside, but the seating was cozy & vibe was trendy.

Yelp
Great cocktails, great service, and great views! After arriving at our hotel we decided to go up to the 6th floor and check out the bar. It is very spacious and has an elegant vibe. The patio was beautiful and had great views of the city but there was too much shade (you won't typically find me complaining about that!) for a March afternoon. We decided to sit inside and were greeted warmly by the servers/bartenders. We each ordered a cocktail and then decided on our snacks. My wife got a few oysters which she said were delicious! We shared the fries (delicious!) and a charcuterie board. The cheese selection was unexciting (two hard cheeses, one was some kind of her cheddar, and the other was possibly a romano or something similar) but it came with a salami and prosciutto and some good accompaniments. Would love to return to the rooftop bar in warmer weather and enjoy the fresh air!

Yelp
My group of 3 was excited to get a 7:15p reservation for the holiday season. Definitely make this a priority as this space stays busy and from our observation, also understaffed. The team there hustled all night but service was slow. We were happy to linger but if you are on a schedule I'd be proactive about getting the check. The food menu was small. The primary meal was a burger and fries, the others were small plates only. I got the crepe and goat cheese croquettes but neither knocked my socks off. The charcuterie tray was awesome though. I'd come back for this alone! I also loved my old fashioned - both of them! Their cocktail menu was interesting and my friends enjoyed their options, but sometimes you crave the old fashioned. The upstairs venue is gorgeous. Velvety couches and fun chairs. There's also a fantastic patio that overlooks downtown. During warmer weather there's a bar there too. Put this spot on your list to visit!

Yelp
Limited Street parking. Valet ($) available to the right of the hotel. Had a reservation for the dining room in Bar Genevieve and they sat us right away. Server and manager constantly visited the table and very friendly. Drinks/wine @ $14-$16. Beer at $6. Very limited "bar bites" menu. Honestly the food wasn't anything special. The view and ambiance is the selling point.

Yelp
What a gorgeous spot! Whether you choose to sit inside or out, you can see for miles from the rooftop of the Hotel Genevieve in NuLu, taking in the downtown Louisville skyline and the Ohio River bridges. The feminine decor gives Parisian vibes in keeping with the rest of the hotel. Could be very romantic if you're up here in time to catch the sunset! My lunch companions and I enjoyed one of the prettiest charcuterie boards I've seen in recent memory, along with a cute little bowl of olives and the bar's own stylized version of a Hot Brown. All delicious.

Yelp
Every time I come here I love it more and more!! Emma and Martin at the bar were absolutely wonderful!!

Yelp
This is such a fun place a date night! Very awesome view of Louisville, which is great at night with all the lights. The bar has lots of options even if you don't drink. Very unique choices as well. The patio area is nice with an outdoor bar (which was closed when we were there so not sure when it's available). There is great seating and a cozy fireplace too. The indoor seating where the bar is located is also very nice and lots of space for bigger groups. The service was great and answered lots of questions from us when we asked about certain drinks on the menu and what was in them. You have to take the elevators to get to the floor with the bar which, to our knowledge, was not very evident or advertised. We just saw the "rooftop" bar and decided to explore.

Yelp
One of the best views of the city! Plus the drinks and service and ambiance -- just yes! My husband and I ventured up to Bar Genevieve while out celebrating our anniversary. The night was hot but not stifling, and the sky was clear -- great rooftop bar weather. We first visited the patio, which not only boasts those aforementioned views of NuLu and downtown but also an outdoor bar. There were several tables and counters that one could cozy up to in the intimate space. But we had already eaten outside and were looking for a spot indoors. Happily, Bar Genevieve had that covered too. We were able to get a table without a wait and ordered cocktails. I got the Blueberry Spritz, and my husband got the Alter Ego, our server's recommendation, which is made with pineapple, Campari and grapefruit. And as we drank, we admired the decor, which is a mix of antiques and more modern pieces. Like so much else in Hotel Genevieve, this looks plucked out of a Wes Anderson movie. Our server was attentive and also recommended a fun shot -- that was about the size of half a cocktail. I felt like I was visiting a new city while here. This is such a fun spot for both locals and visitors. I'm eager to go back!

Yelp
My husband and I went on a Saturday night around 7. They use Resy for reservations. I love a place that takes reservations! It's a trendy intimate ambiance that seems more date like to me than something for a big group hangout. We liked the duck and beet salad for food. Pretty disappointed in the mussels but it didn't bring down the evening too much. My husband liked his old fashioned and I appreciated the alcohol free drink options! Marie from Tennessee was our server and was very friendly! Seemed like she could have used another server to help on the floor as the night went on. We'd return!

Yelp
Do not expect fast service. Bar tenders may be bared out. Never experienced such slow service on a Tuesday evening

Yelp
Super cute bar with the friendliest staff and yummy finger foods! Drinks are worth the price, my head is pounding!

Yelp
We checked it out got some drinks and enjoyed chatting on the balcony seeing the city! We hung out for about an hour and then realized it was close to midnight! Great area and kinda hidden gem of s place! Id come back for sure!!

Carole Y.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Cozy cute. Overpriced charcuterie that was fine. Definitely the saddest weakest waterdowned Manhatten ever. :(

Jasmine W.

Yelp
Service was very unprofessional. Bartender was visibly upset that we came in 30 minutes before closing. If you're that upset, maybe close earlier than you do?? Would not recommend going to this place. If I could give less than one star, I would.

Yelp
Bar Genevieve is NuLu's newest bar on the top floor of the recently completed Hotel Genevieve. The view alone is worth the trip to the top. You can take the elevators from inside the hotel or use the convenient entrance on the left side of the hotel. The decor is a lovely eclectic mix celebrating Louisville and Kentucky. There is a very spacious indoor area with lots of seating options and a gorgeous bar. The indoor portion of the bar is full of windows and the views over the city are incredible. Completing the package is an amazing, beautiful outdoor rooftop space with a second bar and more seating options. Get out and see this beautiful space. I had a lovely chardonnay. The bar is fully stocked with many options. We ordered the fries to nibble on and they were delicious!!! Our server was amazing and well versed in both cocktails and food items.

Yelp
Super cute vibes ! Staff was so friendly and all the drinks tasted so good, the patio had great views

Yelp
Incredibly friendly staff, both outside and inside are SUCH a vibe, and the dirty martini made it to my top 5.

John L.

Yelp
Nice rooftop bar with skyline views. BUT bad service and overall operations. 1) Warm summer evening, but the large umbrellas were all up (probably didn't want to take the time to put them down) after the sun went down. 2) I ordered a gin (Botanist) martini. Older, short haired blonde bartender told me she had one already made, said it was what I ordered. It was not. Not even close. I drank it anyways because I didn't want to make a fuss.

Larry B.

Yelp
Neat setting with both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the Louisville skyline and Ohio River. Service a little slow outside on our visit but bar was great and feel our outside experience was uncommon. Very good snack and food options.

Yelp
Gorgeous rooftop bar on the top of Hotel Genevieve. Had a really nice bartender blend me a perfect Gin gimlet and my fiancee said her cosmo was very good too. Wish I could've checked out the balcony too but I think it was locked for the night, nevertheless definitely check this place out for one of the best views of Nulu.
google avatar

Yelp
The views at this bar are amazing. Definitely a place for a cute date night. Cocktails are amazing and food was on point. This is the largest meal they had otherwise it is only small bites. I will be back! The hotel has 2 other venues that are amazing as well. Must come!

Roya F.

Yelp
If I could give 100 stars I would! Such great service and amazing drinks The vibe is immaculate! S/o to Alicia and Mandre for being so nice and welcoming! A must visit in the ville!

Joey R.

Yelp
Very nice server. Very nice hostess. Ordered almost immediately and couldn't get a drink and couldn't get one made in like 25 minutes. Left

Yelp
This place has both style and substance. Admittedly we didn't order drinks, we came for the "small bites". I put that in quotations because the small bites were bigger than I was expecting. They were delicious and filling. The menu may be small but you can tell they have mastered what they do offer. We got the fries, mini burgers, and Hot Brown Monsieur. We definitely recommend this place!

Brittany H.

Yelp
Service was great!!! Drinks were good! Really liked the spicy margarita and Pretty in Pink.

Grace G.

Yelp
Terrible recent experience at Hotel Genevieve, particularly the rooftop bar. Had my ID snatched from my hands and was quizzed on every detail. I thought the waitress was going to snap it in half. Keep in mind, most of us at the table were 30+. We have had this waitress before and immediately recognized her because of a previous bad experience. Last time we were there she shamed us for how dressed up we were and told us it was dumb to be going to a formal event for our professional school. The rude waitress then grabbed a lady who claimed to be the "CEO manager of all hotel Genevieve bars/restaurants". She was even worse. Rechecked every single ID. If it is that big of an issue, hotel Genevieve should invest in a ID scanner. Screaming at multiple members of our party and not willing to listen to a single one of our concerns. Any "manager" should be willing to listen to customers concerns even if they don't agree with them. It was never an issue of checking IDs, but more so the attitude and disrespectful tone that was used when speaking to us. It's a shame because this was one of our favorite places to go on a night out. Safe to say all ten of us will never be back. Side note- the hotel rooms are gross with stained carpet and bedding. The food is subpar and overpriced. The drinks are not bad, but very overpriced.
